The happy background music playing while the text on screen says “Because of COVID-19, they decided to keep their date, but lose the venue” is just peak comedy.
I get the fact that a wedding is expensive and a luxury but finding a good house is legit a whole issue everyone glosses over. I’d much rather take a house especially since house shopping is a much bigger pain than wedding shopping imo
That clip of the couple celebrating for getting the wedding venue that immediately cuts to them losing the venue because of covid is fucking comedy gold.
It was probably something like "always be nice to everybody because you never know who is going to be cleaning your house, making your food and serving your every whim and fancy."
When I watched this video last year it was the reason I started watching Bojack horseman and genuinely I know you’ll never read this Drew, but thank you. It is such an incredible show and I’m so glad I listened to your advice because after trying to get into it a few years back and only getting like 5 minutes in, I stuck through the first 2-3 episodes where it just feels sort of family guy-ish and you really get to see this masterpiece continually get better and better.
It’s really frustrating having the first 5-6 episodes be like any other “adult”animation because everything after that point is so masterful. And yet, that first half of season 1 really throws people off, and I can’t blame them.
I just found it to be the biggest self mastabatory pile of ugly and unfunny garbage. It thinks it is way smarter than it is and is only liked because of today's "excuse culture" where everyone wants to claim to be depressed and whatever to try and have some niche or a reason for their lack of effort.
@@esmeecampbell7396 in some ways i see how you feel that way. depression and hardship has become a personality trait but i find that in bojack horseman, the characters have legitimate reasons and it all makes logical sense to me.
I feel like I heard this before and the end of it is something like 'because you never know what they can do for you in the future'. I could be completely wrong on that, but basically he's saying you should be nice to everyone because you could gain something from it, not just because it's the right thing to do

When she said that "kids are so mean" even though she clearly never attended public school and had no saturated access to kids, i remembered that movie about a tall girl and a tiktoker responded by saying "my teacher called me chingchong"
TBH literally anyone of any age can be cruel and in some places adults are frequently mean towards children with it being either accepted (ugh) or considered purely individual on the part of the adult, there is no "adults are mean" saying yet that's how it often is. People always say specifically that children are cruel as if it's a specific characteristic of children. Plus it's way more risky for children to be cruel towards adults (themselves cruel or not) than towards other children but if they live in a place where adults are regularly mean to them and it's socially accepted, they might need to let some steam out and do it like this or just not even realize that it's mean. I think the saying just makes the thing worse by making it seem as if it's inherent to childhood and not, like, contextual and personally this kind of ideas about children and teenagers affected me negatively when I was one but also just led to adults being more cruel and feeling entitled to it because of confirmation bias of their beliefs that kids were mean/insolent/lazy/... even without the kid being particularly assertive. I know both my assertiveness and my passiveness were picked up by adults as more reasons to see me as bad because I was young, just no way to win. But I've definitely seen people just internalize this and think that they were bad and deserved whatever came their way.
@@maxens_is_here that is true. Anyone can be really cruel. when I use that, I’m talking about my own experiences with kids my age and how they have treated me in the past, but also then talking about benevolent adults in comparison (like talking about why I’ve always found it easier to talk to teachers than kids my own age), it isn’t really me making W generalisation but referring to the treatment I’ve had in the past from kids my own age. However if I was comparing a mean adult to a nice kid (which I do do) I will say “adults can be cruel”. Both statements are true but kids are mean, and adults are mean are not mutually exclusive statements, both can and do co exist. It just depends on the context you are saying it in, that dictates which is relevant. But if people make that as a generalisation of all kids without acknowledging it happens outside of childhood, then I agree that internalisation of that is bad and gives adults a sort of superiority-complex. But I think the term itself, when grouping experiences, or trying to refer to trauma ect, I think that is ok.
Re: the ranch dressing fountain - now that I’m thinking about it (again) they could’ve picked house and bought the fountain. Win win?? Imagine every dinner or event, they bring out the big RDF. Wow
Not only that, but if they got the house they could've afforded to start the IVF process that they claimed was so important to them. Then they couldn't even have their wedding cause of Covid. Luckily money apparently grows on trees for them. I'm sure they'll have money for IVF in no time.
bojack horseman is truly so special to me. i started watching it at a time in my life i really feel i needed a show like that. the fact that it’s main character is a talking horse just helps anyone be able to connect to anyone in the show. that show helped me so much as silly as it sounds and i’ll forever be grateful for people giving the show it’s deserved praise. they knew exactly when to end the show too and didn’t try to drag it on just because it was popular which is so rare. 10/10 show, my favorite to this day.
the thing is, if kylie jenner actually got real about how fucked up being famous since she was in elementary school must be, it’d actually be a compelling show
I'm fairly convinced that the show runners for the wedding show had contracts that most people HAD to pick wedding because wedding stuff has better ratings or something. I refuse to believe a person would pick a ranch dressing fountain over a house
"I could have a nice big house one of the most expensive things to obtain that when maintained could grow in value" Or "One magical day that you may regret if you ever stop liking the person that day was with"
also like.. a house is a house! pretty important thing since we all need shelter and a blessing to afford one! but a wedding isnt even necessary. you can live with, be with, have kids with, buy a house with and share the rest of your life with someone who you arent 'married' to. so like. maybe its just me but the wedding can come later. go to the courthouse and if marriage is important to you then get that house!!!!!!!!
Tbf all those ppl already had places to live and none of them had weddings. Also pretty sure that the weddings and mortgages totaled to the same amount. They’d have to keep making big monthly payments for a home that they might not b ready for, so the homes ain’t free and they have places to live. A free wedding that they prob need and r being pressured to splurge on doesn’t seem as crazy. Not saying they made the right choices but it’s not that insane
Okay unironically the netflix version of A Series of Unfortunate Events is really good, they brought the writer of the books on with the director for men in black and it perfectly mixes humor with being smart

But also, Rhys Darby does really well when he's playing into his particular brand of NZ comedy. NZ comedy seems to have a quality of being very dry, but also almost hyper-naive and super silly. If it's not in the right context it can look just kinda shit lol.

Pen15 is so fun to watch because Maya and Anna, the two best friends from the show, are actually best friends and actually grew up together. bojack horseman is INCREDIBLE. i watched an interview of the cast talking about it after it ended, and they apparently had no clue how emotional and how DEEP the content would be. they thought it would be another silly show. Thats part of the reason aaron paul joined the cast! coming off of breaking bad he wanted to something less serious! and then joined one of the shows that has the best representation of mental health problems i have ever seen and has some seriously deep subject matter.
Yeah, he plays like the comedic sidekick, which is actually REALLY funny, but he also gets some extremly well done arcs, especially in the later seasons

"The last man on earth" will always hold a special place in my heart. It came out the same day I moved into my own place. Over the garden wall is an AMAZING show which is on Hulu and i absolutely love it. My pfp is actually a character from the show. Now that fall is coming up it’s the best show to watch because for me it beautifully depicts fall and captures fall in a beautiful way and has a great story.
I know a lot of it is open to interpretation, but I don't feel like that's exactly how BoJack sees it, more that not confronting his actions and past in a way that allows him to move on and really make something solid for his future is what makes him feel like such a bad person. It's like the thing he says at the start of _Stupid Piece of Shit_ "But I know I'm a piece of shit, that at least makes me better than all the pieces of shit who don't know they're pieces of shit. Or is it worse?" It really isn't all that clear cut in any way, which I guess is why so many people (myself included) love the series so much, and connected with it so deeply.
if you admit you are a bad person you are. if you weren’t then what are you admitting? however what you do next is important. you have the opportunity to become a better person when you acknowledge you aren’t. i’m saying this from my point i haven’t watched the show
part one of euphorias special for the relay delves into this idea in a creative way. you should watch bc you’ll get a better understanding but it basically says, stating what you did was a bad thing shows you know it was unacceptable and it’s important to work towards becoming better from that and you won’t be a totally bad person.,,,..oof- go watch!!
I loved that about the show. They're portraying such a flawed character, and they're making him extremely self-aware. It made for such an emotional roller coaster because he was so relatable, and seeing him go through his recovery journey with relapses, spirals, and long-term consequences to his actions was emotional and powerful. Sarah Lynn's story hit me really hard too

Crackle needs to get kylie Jenner on their platform to talk about how struggling her life is and how much of an outcast she feels because she can't relate to poor people and how much she's #blessed for having her health because to her nothing matters more than health and money is just a useless piece of paper that she uses to wipe her b*tt

Barry is, in my opinion, on par with Breaking Bad in terms of how flawless it is. There wasn’t a moment in that show where I wasn’t sobbing, laughing hysterically, or clenching my fists with excitement.
I think the only measure complaints I have with barry is that some scenes the characters are there "just because", at times it doesn't feel like the story built it self enough in order for them to be there to feel satisfying. Also at times moments that should be impactfull aren't as emotional because the story feels like it's moving too fast. But outside of that the show has probably some of the cinematography I have ever seen in a show period and most of the humour lands
Honestly Disney + should make a “live tv” channel, like it’ll randomize movies and shows or even just play old TV guides for when you don’t feel like picking something
this is exactly what i need!! the only reason i still like live tv is how convenient it is when i want something on in the background but i don’t know what to choose, and don’t want to just put anything on because it’d mess up my recommended. it’d be especially cool if you could pick specific channels *and* specific years, so they would air shows + run ads that would’ve been on that channel in that year. that’s the nostalgia injection i need tbh
@@NASkeywest it’s not hard, yeah, but that doesn’t mean i can’t enjoy the convenience of something that makes it easier. just for comparison, think about why people use contactless cards. putting a credit card into a machine and typing the pin out - not a hard task in the slightest. but people would still rather use contactless, the easier option, because people like convenience even if the alternative isn’t a huge obstacle :)

It was hard to watch for me, a real depression existential crisis, especially when my dad died. But the last 2 episodes are sobering and a wake up call. The penultimate episode will take you so low and the last will wake you up and say “oh, it’s going to be ok, not perfect, but ok”

Two different minds, growing up in different eras, all that jazz. he said something hurtful that made me hold a grudge for a long time. Long enough that we never made amends. I had no idea what the hell I was going to say and almost had an anxiety attack the night before the funeral. I re-watched the eulogy episode of Bojack Horseman, and roughly 30 minutes later, I found myself not only ready and willing to give that eulogy, but I found myself actually forgiving my grandfather along the way. I nailed the eulogy, the family both laughing and crying along the way, and in a weird way, I kinda owe it to a show about talking animals and character actress Margo Martindale.

"Posting a selfie is hard because it's a lot of pressure." Gosh, Kylie, if only you and your entire family quit deeming what beauty should look like by all getting the same body and face, maybe there wouldn't be so much pressure.
when she was complaining about the pressure of selfies being perfect i thought “yeah, that’s a valid problem and i feel it, but it’s not a problem YOU have.” and you make a good point - not only is it a problem that she doesn’t have, it’s a problem that she directly contributes to for other people. kylie and her massive influence are a massive part of why girls have unrealistic beauty standards of themselves, and thus why they feel pressured into looking perfect. she’s the one who spends tons on plastic surgery/top dermatologists/diets etc and then pretends that the average person can look like her just by buying shitty face toner and laxative tea. if anything, if kylie put out photos of herself looking any less than flawless, it would do a lot of good because it would reassure everyone else that looking less than flawless is okay. sorry for the rant lol but that line of hers just really got me
@@thicc_astley while these are all legit points, isn't she and everyone else around her *also* subject to the same beauty standards? Like those pressures don't single-handedly come from them. They could do more themselves to help get rid of those pressures but it's not 100% on them
@@isabellamorris7902 totally, i’m sure they still feel pressure to conform to beauty standards - probably amplified by them being in the public eye and with so many people looking to them for beauty tips. i just think it’s ignorant of kylie to act like she has the same experience of pressure to be perfect as, say, one of her average teenage followers who can’t afford anything beyond makeup and filters to alter their appearance. i’m guessing she mainly said that thing about perfection because the producers told her she needs to appear more relatable, and i’m sure she experiences that pressure to some degree, i just thought it was disingenuous
@@isabellamorris7902 they contribute because they advertise beauty and diet products like thats what got them to where they are. In reality people don't look like that without plastic surgery.

When she said that "kids are so mean" even though she clearly never attended public school and had no saturated access to kids, i remembered that movie about a tall girl and a tiktoker responded by saying "my teacher called me chingchong"
She wasn’t wrong though tbf, kids can be really cruel. Speaking as someone who’s in the last year of British secondary school lol.
😎
@@Meg_intheclouds As Someone In My Sophomore Year Of American Public School In A Very Yeehaw Part Of The United States, I Can Agree. Kids Are Mean.

It's like the thing he says at the start of _Stupid Piece of Shit_ "But I know I'm a piece of shit, that at least makes me better than all the pieces of shit who don't know they're pieces of shit. Or is it worse?"

part one of euphorias special for the relay delves into this idea in a creative way. you should watch bc you’ll get a better understanding but it basically says, stating what you did was a bad thing shows you know it was unacceptable and it’s important to work towards becoming better from that and you won’t be a totally bad person.,,,..oof- go watch!!

@Sidharth Rao Exactly! Its still hard to believe that one of the most praised and critically acclaimed TV series of the 21 century went from #1, to "what the hell is even that?" 🤦🏾♀️
Barry is, in my opinion, on par with Breaking Bad in terms of how flawless it is. There wasn’t a moment in that show where I wasn’t sobbing, laughing hysterically, or clenching my fists with excitement.
Finished all of Better Call Saul and they had such similar vibes, it was great.
The Sopranos>
I think the only measure complaints I have with barry is that some scenes the characters are there "just because", at times it doesn't feel like the story built it self enough in order for them to be there to feel satisfying. Also at times moments that should be impactfull aren't as emotional because the story feels like it's moving too fast.
But outside of that the show has probably some of the cinematography I have ever seen in a show period and most of the humour lands

Honestly Disney + should make a “live tv” channel, like it’ll randomize movies and shows or even just play old TV guides for when you don’t feel like picking something
That'd be sick but I feel like only 7 people would care
this is exactly what i need!! the only reason i still like live tv is how convenient it is when i want something on in the background but i don’t know what to choose, and don’t want to just put anything on because it’d mess up my recommended.
it’d be especially cool if you could pick specific channels *and* specific years, so they would air shows + run ads that would’ve been on that channel in that year. that’s the nostalgia injection i need tbh
@@m_e_nere There you go. As of this moment exactly 7 people agree with you.
@@thicc_astley I mean, it’s not that hard to just pick something. I know it takes some effort but dang.
@@NASkeywest it’s not hard, yeah, but that doesn’t mean i can’t enjoy the convenience of something that makes it easier.
just for comparison, think about why people use contactless cards. putting a credit card into a machine and typing the pin out - not a hard task in the slightest. but people would still rather use contactless, the easier option, because people like convenience even if the alternative isn’t a huge obstacle :)
never realized that it was this video that planted the idea of barry in my head, and i’m so glad that it did. one of the best shows i’ve seen since breaking bad/better call saul.
Bojack appeals to me so much but I can't afford to have a mental health crisis because of a tv show
Yeah me too

Sounds like Evangelion.
It helped me through a lot tbh
It was hard to watch for me, a real depression existential crisis, especially when my dad died. But the last 2 episodes are sobering and a wake up call. The penultimate episode will take you so low and the last will wake you up and say “oh, it’s going to be ok, not perfect, but ok”
I had to give the eulogy at my Grandfather's funeral.
My grandfather and I didn't get along.

"Posting a selfie is hard because it's a lot of pressure." Gosh, Kylie, if only you and your entire family quit deeming what beauty should look like by all getting the same body and face, maybe there wouldn't be so much pressure.
when she was complaining about the pressure of selfies being perfect i thought “yeah, that’s a valid problem and i feel it, but it’s not a problem YOU have.” and you make a good point - not only is it a problem that she doesn’t have, it’s a problem that she directly contributes to for other people.
kylie and her massive influence are a massive part of why girls have unrealistic beauty standards of themselves, and thus why they feel pressured into looking perfect. she’s the one who spends tons on plastic surgery/top dermatologists/diets etc and then pretends that the average person can look like her just by buying shitty face toner and laxative tea.
if anything, if kylie put out photos of herself looking any less than flawless, it would do a lot of good because it would reassure everyone else that looking less than flawless is okay.
sorry for the rant lol but that line of hers just really got me
@@thicc_astley lol
They have done studies and their skinny thick look is the worst body type for giving people body complexes. I think its because its literally unobtainable naturally for 99% of people regardless of what you eat or what exercise you do. The surgery for their butts also have a very high mortality rate. So they are at fualt for selling a completely unrealistic beauty standard.
