🌟Hey, if you're struggling with low-end performance, I might have something in my pack that could help! Atlas - Low End Tools: www.mercurialtones.com/atlas-low-end-tools
@@yeahna You mean +160bpm genres? Those usually lack low end due the use of 16th kick that is too short to have low freqs. Basses also tend to be snappy. Different genres have different styles. I'm playing on Psytrance festival in few weeks, so need to go to check the Hi-Tech stage where BPM is 160-250 🤣
@@digidope haha yeah definetely 160 plus is my preferred. Interesting I'd recommend if you haven't checking out the label the endless knot where they play slambient it's very sub bassy and consistent hits around 180 - 220 it is very heavy dark ambience music with thumping sub bass bass lines. What festival you playing? All the best with it!
@@yeahna Sounds interesting, will check that out. Festival is Kosmos Festival in Finland. D'n'B is also 174bpm and still sub heavy, but the style is very different.
If you use a pluck bass and a kick, you can also ditch the note the note of the bass that lines up with the kick entirely. This gives a lot of seperation. But if you lack glue because of this, you can either invrease the tail of the kick, or you can you can use the previously mentioned glue compression and saturation techniques to glue them
I just sit with my popcorn for each new delivery you give us. Simply amazing, simply enjoyable while learning. The only problem I face after your explanations is trying to emulate it with my DAW and the plugins that I use :D Thank you!
Be careful with this sidechain compressor trick. I've been using it for ages and my bass was always weak in the club sound system. I realised I was over compressing the bass with this sidechain compression trick basically sucking the life out of it. I switched now to mostly volume shaping rather than compressing.
Drawing waves is great, but explaining what actually goes on with the speaker, makes phase cancellation much easier to understand. In a speaker, sound is produced by the movement of the diaphragm back and forth, creating waves of compression (pushing air) and rarefaction (pulling air to shape the sound). When two sound waves are in phase, their compressions and rarefactions align, reinforcing each other and producing a clear, strong sound. However, if sound waves are out of phase, the speaker attempts to do both things at the same time, pusing and shaping at the same time, resulting your sound, sounding like ass.
This is an awesome explanation, im working on balancing everything, had no idea how much goes into just kick and bass. I like your track as well, its a bop.
Thank you so much. The best tutorial on the subject I have found. ALL the other people just drag and drop then try to sell you their shitty sample packs. They never really show how top produce.
I'm studying a lot of mixing and to be honest it's the most difficult part for me. I can't really listen the differences of most of things you're doing. I'm using a professional monitor and everything but oh boy, this shit is haaaard!
Really enjoying this channel, thanks for the extra level of detail you go in to, extremely interesting, I’m learning a lot, thanks for putting the info out here!
Mixing some speed-thrash-antimetal, and this is going to really help!!! Our bass guitar is sooo huge and we have blast beats at 208. Allthough I won’t be doing exactly as you say, im taking your great explanations with a grain of salt to inspire my mix
Thanks for theoric explanations. Really much appreciated. Lots of chan's are just giving the copycat methods. I wanna understand not copying so you're helping really.
Idk about the UAD one, but with the other Pultec emulations I've used you HAVE TO turn on oversampling as well to get the boost/cut trick to work. You'll get a little bit of an effect without it, but the difference is night and day once it's on so def check and see if your UAD one is the same! Could seriously change the effect for ya! Boosting and cutting the same frequency will add some serious thump with oversampling on.
I especially use the low end bus glue technique, but saw some new things I like to try. Very informative video. Thanx. Could you do some more Bus compression video's, I would like to see how you handle a synth bus with saturation, EQ and compression.
Wow, great video! The world really does need more content addressing low end. I'm a huge fan of using Pultec-style EQs generally and have been using the Bettermaker 232D on my low mids and side highs to control low end and stereo imaging before I get into final tonal balancing. That parallel distortion thing though... 🤔
Awesome video as ever, top quality content right here. I love the drawing strategy, its very educational. Tip: you could use your setup mic to record your voice over the video takes using the hand, pen and board for the image. The quality of record will be the same on the entire video.
Hello! Were you glue-compressing just the bass group (at 06:30)? Or would you recommend glue-compressing the kick and bass together? I have heard otherwise
Great video. First time watching u. It would be great if u play the samples back to back.. orgininal then the tweak one so i can hear the difference better. Great explanation loved it❤

Greeting from Psytrance production where each 16th note has steady 40-50hz pulse at 147bpm. If you learn psy kick and bass, you can do anything 😅
Very true 👌
Does it change per bpm what if you were making say dark/psycore/slambient

8:35 this is one of the best techniques that i ever seen on the topic, thank u!!
I love how your editing style is just like your music style
Can't WAIT to watch and study this tomorrow during my learning!

Glad to see GPU Audio in your video 😊
Wow, fascinating and helpful. Thanks.

tnx a lot :)
The explanation is so good. Thanks for sharing your knowlege. 👍
Gold as always (You know me as Sticky, I've been watching you since the olden times, and you still smash it every time)
Great video. Lots of really good knowledge!! Thank You!!!!
This is some next level tutorial❤
Another amazing content! You could make a video showing how you mix your kick and bass for each genre
I do the hyper glue bitwiggers preset method and also use loudness split spectral suite tool in bitwig. That works pretty good
Bitwig has amazing unique features.
@@matthiaslachmund3303 it does I love it

'Separation'. Always enjoy your content..
What about phase cancellation in last method?
Thank you Alice for the tips.👍
Excellent tips! Thanks for sharing. ♡
Alice for president❤. Best, random synthwave producer
You should add subtitle on the all video because your accent is hard to understand when we don't speak english very well. Thx you and great content!
I actually use s multiband compressor which does all this for me. ImageLine Maxius works pretty well for example.
Great summary! Thanks
just what i needed as im working on this section on a track...
Hope it helps ✌
sooo spot on and needed, tysm!! ♥

thanks Alice!!! 🙏🏾💥💫
Trance track at 6:05? :D btw again love your tutorials Alice!! Glad to be working with your label as well
Cheers Jack! I am glad you release with our label! 💯
It would be great to have a tutorial on mrak's method for drums and bass, how he creates that dramatic atmosphere :)

Class 🎼🥊🏴🥁
Does it ever make sense to combine the side-chain and glue method together? side chain followed by glue?
Yes!!! It's very good... that's what I use in my tracks
Big up!
One question: In Oldskool method why is the EQ on 410 hz? Thanks in advance :)
3:40 what genre is that? and has this song been uploaded?
What track did you put the shaper box on?
Nice video 👌👌👌👌👌👌
is the pultec on the master or a bus for the just low end?
