Amazing video, I never comment on videos but this one was so good I had to. Great perch action, and great info, felt like I was watching an uncut angling video. Please make more!!
Steve, can you tell me what end of the lake is best THIS time of year? Orillia, Beaverton, Cooks Bay? I really want to make the trip but 4 hrs is long way to be at wrong end...,
Great video dude. We fished cooks before on atvs and dropped the camera down to see if we could find transitions on the flats. Any idea on how far out from shore we would have to be to see these transitions?
It depends on the area you're in. A lot of times the transitions aren't necessarily on the contours you will find on a map. We know them from a lot of time sidescanning.
Solid perch day. I’m out by cooks and it’s constant dink’s. You mentioned you use side imaging to find sand flats. Without side imaging, do you have tips to find flats? Tough for me to move around a lot being sledless and using a hand auger. I’m thinking I need to become more mobile.
hard to find the absolute sweet spots without good electronics or cameras. They will roam the entire flat, but the sweet spots obviously tend to see more fish
My fiance and I are planning a trip up north for Valentine's weekend. We would love to bring some perch home from our trip. really don't want to sort through the dinks at Cook's Bay any suggestions as to where to start? Have never fished Simcoe before. And we are just hoping for a good memorable trip, as we are coming from six and a half hours away in Ohio.
there are a number of good locations to target bigger fish. Deeper water in Cook's often holds better fish and sand flats in 15-40 ft further north and east on the lake hold schools of good fish. www.srfishing.ca

Prob one of the most honest and best video I’ve ever seen
Thanks
SR Fishing would you not recommend fishing cooks bay if your after jumbo perch?
@christianb8228 still lots of jumbos in cooks bay. You just have to move when you find small fish. Bigger ones tend to stick together.
Great job on the fish and very informative, I love the big lake and I learned lots from your video and tips. Thanks for posting.
Great video Steve

I'm definitely hooking up with ya for a guided trip next season. Picking your brain would be worth any cost. Great video as usual.
Thanks man. Great tag btw. Bass Routen lol
Nice job out there. Can't wait to get out ice fishing!
Thanks dude
Nice perch. That is all I have caught this winter on the lake I live on not one gill or crappie. Ty 4 the vidz
I havent spent much time on Simcoe crappies
I like how you raise your Rod as opposed to reeling up slowly this way it seems you have more control. I'm going to copy that
you feel a lot more this way
Excellent.
Great video, thanks for the info
Thanks Michael, I hope you can use some of the info to your advantage
Great vid ! I so wish we could come up but damn they closed the border again !!
Soon enough
Jesus fuck this was fun to watch. You killed it bro, good job. Tons of good information, you really know your stuff.
Glad you enjoyed.
That double up was wild bud
its not uncommon when the wolf packs come in
WTF...you just caught more fish in this video than I did in my entire life
hahaha
What is that yellow plastic. Can you order slab grabber with yellow beads also?
Stellar vid buddy
thank you
Great vid man.
Thank you
Great video Steve do u fish them perch with a smaller Meegs same way as u would for the whitties and do u pair it with the medium atoes
Medium or medium light aetos. The meegs has its place for sure, but I'll hit bottom, then do a slow lift same as the plastics
WOW Absolutely love it 😉👍🎣🎣🎣
Thanks. I love me some perch fishing, dont get out often enough
Whats some good plastics that you use for them?
Great video! What kind of shelter are you using?
This one is the Otter Pro Resort
Which one ice shelter are in you
Haven't even targeted perch this season. This is making me hungry lol. 👊👍
the thought of a perch fry always makes me hungry. Actually, I'm always hungry anyways. That why I'm fat

cooks, beaverton, virginia beach, sibbalds all hold good fish through the entire winter
SR - the Halo bait you mention, is this a "vibra-tail" style (eg Billy Bay)?
The Halo is a bait I made for targeting whities and lakers. It apparently does well for the perch I see. Good job Steve👌
It's a very small bait that Tom designed. It's ugly as sin and if you saw it on a shelf, you probably wouldnt buy it, though you would be missing out

It's all flats dude. We run atvs and underwater camera. Yet to find predominate structures or defined drop offs

Do u do guides ? I’ve been to lake simcoe a few times and every year I can’t find anything beside 5” perch
