    For such a grim looking zine I always felt nostalgic for Desolace. It was great bumping into Rexxar too being a Warcraft 3 fan 😂

    I spent a lot of time in Vanilla doing all of the quests in Desolace. It was a solitary endeavor. Not a lot of people quested there. Mostly people came just to run Mauradon.

    The earthsong falls is such a beautiful dungeon zone. I was super depressed when cata ruined everything they didn't bother to use that tileset to re-sculpt the coastline a little.

    For me, a mostly Horde player, Stonetalon and Desolace, were a staple of my levelling. I loved these "empty" places

    So the zone was a paradise until the thick princess got summoned and ate everything in sight. Damn. About 6:00 I don't think I've ever noticed those. I don't remember the naga looking that badass. Wait, have we ever seen undead naga?

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Рік тому +3

      Thanks for the comment Inlet! In Stranglethorn Vale there are the Zanzil Naga that are classified as “undead” but they don’t have a different model to my knowledge. :)

      @@Jediwarlockthey do not have a different model unfortunately. But imagine a more dried out and rugged look to the scales with wide holes and scars across and boom undead Fishman.

    there is something truly captivating about the loneliness of this zone , probably one of my favourite zones to level in , especialy pre cata

    Two things
    1.) I love this series looking through the lense of various Earth Science disciplines/Biology.
    2.) If the sundering and its effects interest you, look up Randall Carlson and The Younger Dryas theory. Its a sundering/cataclysm that happened on Earth around 10K b.c. I only mention this, because it seems you have interest in geology, volcanology, glaciology, meteorolgy and the ways they interact and shape the enviroment and thus, the biology. And it is one of the most credible and interesting geological/glaciological theories proposed today.

    The algorithm blessed me with your wow rocks series, and I'm glad it did! I'm a California professional geologist and long time wow player. Glad I'm not the only one looking around at all the topography! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for more horsts and grabens when I'm running around 😂

      Thank you so much! I am taking geology classes at university and that is what motivated me to start this series. :) That makes me so happy to hear a real geologist approves of my content XD ...maybe I'll have to make more in the future for Northrend or Outland!

    Desolace in so many ways is a depressing zone, a reminder of what once was but now is lost. Even after Cataclysm, growth is happening but most of the zone still bears a strong resemblance to its name. Still, I always find myself drawn to it as an area to explore, to see all that is - and was - in this landscape.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for the comment! That really captures a lot of what this zone is all about... I think it's cool how there are so many remnants of past environments here! :)

  • @Myrdden71

    I liked going there to level up mainly because it was so off the beaten track...few others went there. But with all of the underwater things to explore, the mysterious serpent bones in the south and dark magics in the north and south, the north-western entrance into Feralas, plus Rexxar wandering the zone from top to bottom, it was a great place to just explore and quest in.

  • @lucamckenn5932

    2:09 „the night elves own *dwindling magic*“? Dayum, I felt that burn worse than teldrassil xD

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Рік тому

      Haha, not intentionally a Burn but I suppose it could be XD ... after the Sundering the Night Elves started to not use arcane magic and the effects from the Well of Eternity started to wear off a bit (hence why they created Nordrassil as their replacement) and so they weren't quite as strong magically based on the changes occurring. Not an expert in elf history so I could be misrepresenting that, but those are my thoughts that led me to saying that from what I remember :)

    • @Dracxina
      @Dracxina Рік тому

      @@Jediwarlock ahh that’s what you meant! I thought you were talking about them losing their immortality and shit with the death of archimonde by nordrassil-laserparty where they burned their blessings of the dragonaspects. They did get ysera back on board for Teldrassil, and still have a lot of potent Druidic magic (which could be used, right, Malfurion? Riiiiight???), so restoring deserts should kinda be their thing, but blizzard loves to forget the very powerful night elves until it’s time to kick them again. So they leave them in their tree… oh wait.
      If you ever have an extra hour, the night elven starting zone got a cute little questline where you learn like the „best of history while standing in a flowing puddle“. ;) as a Night elven main, I recommend!

    Hydras aren't so simple. Unless zangarmarsh has salt lakes. Im pretty sure theyre fresh water. Those could be special ones. Or, and this is a huge stretch, theyre mythical like beings even compared to other fauna on Azeroth. This may make them have an edge in adaptability. I could see a Naga explaining it like, "Wherever the Hydra roams, salt or freshwater, it's only a matter of when it will become the apex predator, not if."
    Great stuff by the way.

    Fun Fact, The stone elemental princess and a humanoid deer had a relationship and from there the centaurs were born but since they were ugly they killed their father and the mother expelled them from their home, that is why there are many centaurs in Desolace.
    NO, I don't know how some meat got into the Rockussy... and I don't wanna find out but it's there for the lore...

    I really wish we were able to enter inside Elven towers such as Ethel Rethor. Not being able to see the interior is so unsatisfying to me. And the fact that further development of the game, after vanilla, never saw these interiors brought to the game is a massive L to me, and a huge red flag that the devs don't have their priorities set straight.

    • @Jediwarlock
      @Jediwarlock  Рік тому +2
