  • The RoseCraft Blades Mosquito Lake Moose is based on a very old traditional Moose pattern. This two-bladed slip joint features a 2.8″ D2 clip point main blade and a 2.8″ spear point blade at the other end, both with heavy swedging, half stops, and brushed satin finishes. The covers are Vintage Moss Brown Bone, with brushed steel bolsters, steel liners, nickel silver pins, and the stainless steel Rosebud shield. It’s 4.1″ closed, 7.3″ open (main blade), and weighs 4.3oz. Based loosely on a very old Tree Brand pattern re-imagined by Andy Armstrong.
    A note about RoseCraft’s bone handles: Bone is a natural handle material that varies in texture, pattern, and natural coloring. Every bone handled knife will look different, because bone isn’t identical. At RoseCraft, we don’t use dye to cover up what we think is the natural beauty of the bone in the handle. We use it to accentuate that natural beauty, and you’re going to see a lot of that gorgeous natural texture and pattern that is in your unique bone-handled knife. We love it, and hope you do too.

      Thank you my friend. I have a lot of moose knives that I have not done videos on, but this one is up there. One of my better moose knives.

      Hey JP. Rosecraft is really doing great work. Andy Anderson, one of their founders has been saying he wants to have them made in Tennessee. I say "be careful" . That might ruin the brand even though we all want USA made.................... He has to get good workers.

    Hi Rusty. I much prefer that Moose over the other 3 shown. I do like how the blade is angled down. Rosecraft does have a great reputation. I don't currently own any though.
    Also much prefer the spear point blade over the spey blade as well. The bone covers are the cherry on this sundae !

      Hey Tom. Did you have a good Holiday weekend? Any thing special? Yes. This is a good knife, and Rosecraft does good work. I like this knife better than the BriarPatch too. Mostly because of the cant of the blades.

    RC seem like fine quality but the old American style made overseas puts me off somewhat. Price a bit high compared to established makers with historic reputation - Opinel for example. Thanks for showing.

      Thanks for commenting. I appreciate American made knives and well made knives like Opinel as well. As far as price, yes, seems a bit steep. I only own 3 of their models. They must have release 20 by now. I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up if you like the pattern and covers. RoseCrafts secret really is in the build. The company has a factory seconds sale twice a year where they sell the ones that have flaws, both cosmetic and mechanical. So the ones I have gotten are really, really nice. Case should try doing this.

    Are Rosecraft traditional knives better quality than RR?

    • @rustyminer
      @rustyminer  4 дні тому

      In my opinion, RoseCraft and Rough Ryder Reserve knives are near the same level of build quality. RoseCraft has offered better covers and designs. A micarta RoseCraft is nearly the same as a RRR in micarta, other than shape and such, but the bone/stag on RCB can rival the best bone I have seen on any bone handled knife I have seen. I love the RCB bone!!!

      Hey Jason, Hope your holiday weekend was relaxing, that is if you ever get a day off at the dairy. This is a great knife, but you are right, the nail nick is a tad too far back. Makes it a rather tough pull when it doesn't need to be
