I absolutely love the detail in which you build! It reminds me of the work my dad would do! He was an awesome trim carpenter (but could build anything)! When he retired he started building fiddles and mandolins and made each one of his grandchildren one! Hey, this question isn't about this video but i just wanted to saw i love these videos im in the planing stage of my log cabin and looking at different build styles and i've always loved the dove tail cabins. However, how do you attache multiple logs to make a longer wall. For example, i have a 60 foot wall but my logs are only 24 - 30 feet long?
Howdy William- that’s a question different people have asked. I use a mortice and tenon joint to join logs together to make longer logs. I will be doing that on my next project. I should have made a video of doing a splice but just haven’t done it, but will definitely be showing that. It’s a bit easier if you’re using logs that have been sawed into square timbers instead of using live edge. We’ll get a video of doing a splice. God bless you

That tight clearance on the carriage to the raised floor is going to fill up with sawdust, isn't it?
