This was after SRV courageously "cleaned up" from drug/alcohol addiction. Travis Walk was inspired by his walks to 12 step meetings. He was at his all time peak after cleaning up. A humble, beautiful man! I used to work in the music distribution business & he played at our annual convention in 1989. I was hanging on the edge of the stage, totally blown away! At the after party, his rep came out & said, "Hey, Stevie Ray would just like to hang out with ya'll; please don't ask for autographs; just enjoy yourselves!" I approached him to thank him for his amazing music & got a hug & a kiss! Just about fell to my knees!!! I was working an account when I heard the news of his death on the radio. I had to leave...return to my hotel room & just cried my heart out. If there's a rock 'n roll/blues heaven...I can't wait!
I hope you realized what you just watched. Absolute heavyweights of jazz/fusion. Omar Hakim and Don Alias, especially during their time with Weather Report, and Hiram Bullock from back in the day dueling with Jaco Pastorius. SRV playing with these greats just blew me away. Thanks for posting.
Stevie's Guitar is scrimeing for mercy but it can't get away from the Beast,so it does what a Good Guitar should , After all it's Electric and shocking ⚡☠️👻
Pamela Hammons I wish I’d have seen him even one time. He overcame a lot and like you said loving man and musician. He was also very humble, which makes him even greater. We all missed out on so much more music from him. Miss him, as well.
@@secondchanceatlife563 Yes Sir, everytime I watch him, which is usually everyday, I have such joy mixed with sorrow. But it just hit me, Stevie would not want us to be sad, just joyful of who he was and is. I love his smile. Oh and to watch his hands bend those strings. What touch and mastery. Blessings Sir this day!
Pamela Hammons I went to a... I almost said “memorial service”, but it wasn’t... it was a celebration of his life at Liberty Lunch in Austin on Sunday, the night after he died, organized by some of his friends. Everyone was in shock, of course, but it was a surreal scene... Everyone started telling Stevie stories and laughing, having a great time. Doyle Bramhall even got up & played “Willie the Wimp and his Cadillac Coffin.” Everyone knew Stevie was in the room with us. You could feel it. I felt so much better when I left than I had when I got there. God bless him
Love love LOVE Stevie!!! Not only was he an influential guitar player, he was such an inspiration as a person. Came through a nearly deadly drug and alcohol addiction to become sober through hard work and dedication on his part! He chose to spread his story to others and help them with their journey. A very caring heart. Like you said, no one is like him as a musician either!
My wife and I saw SRV at the Greek Amphitheater in Los Angeles in August of 1989, almost a year to the day before he was killed. The opening act was BB King. After both King's and SRV's sets were over, King’s band came back out on stage and jammed with SRV's band for probably 45 minutes to an hour. Both of those men had a genuine love for one another, and performed together frequently. At the time, my wife was 7 months pregnant with our now 30 year old son. You could visibly *SEE* him rocking out inside her tummy during the show. I’m a guitar-player myself for 57 years now, and I’ve been to a lot of concerts over the years, with a lot of other musicians, and played in a bunch more shows myself, but that concert with BB King and SRV was hands down the best concert I ever attended. Both were legends, but SRV was a cut above even that. The man could PLAY!
saw him at the Great Woods Amphitheater in Mansfield Mass back in 1987. He broke a string on the first song. I turned to my friend, we both dropped our jaws and high fived one another. Oh, my, oh, my, things were about to get religious.

The best I ever heard anyone describe the force of nature called Stevie Ray Vaughn was "he was like and open channel. Everything he did came from the heart and seemed effortless." I don't know how much you know about guitars but he was a monster just on the setup of the instrument as well. Most people use maybe 8 gauge strings set fairly close to the fretboard. It has been written that Stevie liked the strings high off the frets for bending deep and used 13 gauge strings too. Had to have steel fingertips to play like that. That combo would tear off most peoples fingertips.
Mr. Modern Renaissance Man, Wow you are the man here! Where did you find this set! There is nothing but soul, true soul coming from all, with Stevie Ray telling us all. It's not about color, close your eyes, palms up we are all the same. On Veterans Day lets give a big bow to Mr. Jimi Hendrix, a Viet Nam Veteran. RIP my brother.

Yes I like this song. I've written before. I saw him New Years Eve, ringing in 1987. It was Dec 31, 1986. BB King was also on the ticket! Later surprise guest, Lonnie Mack, another early SRV influence surprised him at the show. It was in Atlanta, GA at the newly restored and saved from destruction, The Fabulous Fox Theather. Known and has the greatest acoustics ever. The Fox is rated as one of the top acoustic music venues in the world. It's a memory I am grateful and blessed to have. Phenomenal show. Introduced himself as Mr. CLEAN! Fresh out of rehab. I love this song written by bandmates during Stevie's stay at rehab, Tommy's also. Drummer Chris Layton, and keyboardist, pianists, Reece Wynan collaborated on this song, Crossfire. Also written by a song writing team and recorded Tightrope. Both became top 40 hits with Crossfire becoming his longest and highest rated top 40 hit. I love Stevie now, I loved him then. He's always been in a class all his own with respect to other guitar greats, I still put Stevie as the best of the best. His humanitarian qualities, humble and kind ways made Stevie the man. I grew up in the same area of town as Stevie and Jimmie. Heard Jimmie with his band when we were just teens. Moved to Austin and saw Stevie many times playing in bars and clubs. The truth be told l sorta took him for granted because I had seen him so many times. The day when he died they had a memorial at Zilker park in Austin. Thousands of people showed up with candles. I cried and felt a great sense of loss. I see these live videos and realize how much l miss seeing him and Double Trouble. And sometimes I cry . He is missed.
Kudos to the guy that dared to play guitar while SRV was putting on a guitar clinic right next to him. It would be like me trying to explain math to a crowd as Einstein observed! You could tell the guys on stage were very pumped to be performing on the same stage as the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughn!
That other guitarist is none other than Hiram Bullock. His work can be heard on Bob James' Angela which is also the theme song for the TV show Taxi,Steely Dan's Gaucho (1980), Paul Simon's One Trick Pony (1980), Sting's ...Nothing Like the Sun (1987) and Billy Joel's The Stranger(1977). He also worked with Harry Belafonte, Marcus Miller, Carla Bley, Miles Davis, Ruben Rada, and Gil Evans.
I discovered SRV'S music in the 80s and I still listen to it all the time today. He never played a song the same twice. A little extra thrown in this or that. Still keep me up on my toes! I cried the morning after he passed. I had tickets to that last concert but we decided not to go because traffic getting out of alpine valley was always horrible and you'd be stuck for long time and I had to get up very early the next morning for work. I've always regretted that choice.
SENSATIONAL..my finger never gets tired of saying this word on Stevie Ray Vaughan..I will say it again..SENSATIONAL..so is the band, they don't miss a cord..AWESOME
LOVE ME SOME STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN! Can't get enough! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸💖💖💖💖💖💖😊🌹 Oh...the other guys were really good too! Gotta give credit where credits due...👍👏👏👏👏👏👏💖😊🌹
I love watching your reactions to SRV! I usually have to watch a couple of times because I can't ever decide whether or not to watch your smile or watch SRV shred.
I did spend some time with Stevie. What a devastating loss. Wish I could attach a picture! Thank you for keeping his music and spirit alive. Great song, but I prefer when Stevie performs with his own band. ❤️ For an incredible experience, check out Tin Pan Alley, performed by SRV and Johnny Copeland, then after that, check out the same song w SRV from Tokyo. Stevie is dressed in red in that one. Turn down the lights, and crank up the sound. Powerful! ❤️Donna G
Saw him play, never met him but can attest to how his music, personality and struggles deeply rooted into the lives of so many individuals who he touched. His adopted hometown, Austin, TX, remembers him proudly.
I loved how he was playing near the 2nd fret on the d or a key and in a split second he moved to around the 13th fret on treble e or b chord and it moved the octave by about two. It was so smooth. He absolutely amazes me. I love watching the old videos of him playing with Buddy Guy and Albert Ray.
NOBODY played like Stevie. I saw him live in 89 and he was wide open 24-7. Unbelievable talent. Technically brilliant and creative but at the same time soulful and intense. Taken from us way too soon. I cried when I heard the news of his death. As far as this song, it was slow compared to other versions ive heard him do. Still great though. I love everything he did.
Yeah, I've seen Stevie live many times as a Texan, he played the all the good clubs around the State, played a lot in Austin, Tx. met him at the House of Blues on Richmond Ave. in Houston, Tx. where I live. Seen him in concerts, he sold out every concert he had. Wish he was still alive! Last month Joe Bonamassa played a concert in Sugarland, Tx., it was a good show too.
I had the pleasure to meet SRV a couple of times when I was living in Austin, TX in the early 80,s and saw him perform in many venues around Austiin and across Texas. RIP SRV... (The Lord added another great to heavens house band)...
What a talent. He makes that guitar sing. I remember when the commercial for the album "In Step" came on TV back in 1989. I heard that riff at the end of Crossfire and just from that 10 or so seconds, I KNEW I had to have that album. I was not disappointed and have played that album ever since.
I saw him live from 1983 to when he died in 1990, about 7 or 8 shows. The last show I saw was a matter of weeks before he passed. The first one The Outlaws opened for him at The Tower Theater in Upper Darby, Philly. All shows were amazing. I miss that sound.
Got to see him early 90s on west end of Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee, at an open air concert, during the music festival. Have yet to see or hear his equal.
I've seen him play 9 times and feel so grateful for each show. His timing was perfect. Tone flawless, execution perfect, a one of a kind to say the least. Check out his live versions of Mary had a little lamb or couldn't stand the weather from the Austin city limits show. His solos on each song were incredible. I know he uses couldn't stand the weather as a way to introduce the band, but the easy he comes in after the piano and obliterates the audience with his solo is something I still never tire of hearing. A true master with his amazing voice and the glory of that electric guitar.
U can believe this..Stevie Ray Vaughan broke record this night on TV by everyone being tuned in to this channel..r you with me? The BEST of the BEST..legend..got it
Stranded in the crossfire SRV by the way the guy introducing everyone is David Sanborn one of the finest alto sax players sessions player and star in his own right check him out he's played with everyone out there and has twenty albums check out "seduction" from 1978.
Like a paper guitar flying around and hitting the mark with perfection. Shredding the guitar. Today is Gary Clark Jr. When my Train Pulled in.... Stevie is just the best. He enjoyed playing with new people but kept his heart with Double Trouble for 10 years before the crash. Just the best.
I saw Stevie Ray Vaughan in 1988 at the Greek Theatre in LA. Best show I’ve ever seen. But there is a new king on the Throne. His name is Mato Nanji he is the guitarist for a band named Indigenous. They are from South Dakota, and are all related, check them out. Watch there Video “Blues from the Sky” very impressive....
By the way, he wasn’t overrated. He was underrated. He was successful and it’s a shame he didn’t get to live to see how far his success could have gone, specially after he got sober. ❤️🖤
I remember I was in Europe in the military and I get back home and this song is going crazy on the east coast, I heard about two cords and knew exactly who it was, and told my brothers in arms that’s Stevie I’ll play some os his real stuff.... thing about crossfire and tightrope it brought attention to his really great music beforehand, outside of Texas few people knew this talent
Alright you asked. His name is Christone Kingfish Ingram. A good one to start with is called Don't Let The Devil Ride on YT. PS and he's Young only been playing a few years he's an old soul for sure
Living in Austin, TX during the mid-eighties, I would frequent a club called The Blind Pig. On Wednesdays they'd have an open mic. As per practice there, you'd leave your rig on stage to save time; no sense each guitarist tuning up, right? Anyway, I had my Seagull up on stage after just finishing my bit. Who walks in? Yeah, SRV. He grabbed my Seagull and played it like I do in dreams. Yeah, SRV played my guitar. Never washed it again. And if you haven't, wait til you hear Texas Flood.
That was cool seeing him with a different band. Really had a different swing. The drummer was driving the bus here. Layton seems to lay back more. Cool vid. Travis Walk is cool live.
I first heard SRV when I bought the cassette tape of Couldn't Stand The Weather in a bargain bin for a dollar, one of the best dollar bills I ever spent. I bought it because I saw he did a cover of Voodoo Chile and was blown away. I called my friend Ray and told him he had to check this guy out. Ray bought the album, called me after listening to it and we talked for half an hour about Stevie. I never got to see him live so I missed out big time. By the way, Hiram Bullock was in the band for the David Letterman show in the early days of the show and is no slouch on the guitar either.
From the landmark In Step album which Vaughan recorded after his recovery from Drugs and Alcoholism...It was marked by a new Fervor and creative joy in his sound. So sad he passed not to long after this...My top 2 favorite guitarists are SRV and Clapton...totally different approaches but both Bluesmen at heart...
I haven't seen guitarist Hiram Bullock in a loooong time. He was David Letterman and Paul Shaffer's first guitarist way back in the early 80s on David Letterman's first late night show Late Night With David Letterman on NBC. He was a member of Paul Shaffer's band for the first couple of years before Sid McGinnis took over on guitar. And that is saxophone great David Sanborn doing the introducing who often sat in with Paul Shaffer's band.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was my favorite for a very very long time. Only person I know of that can play blues that would compare to Stevie, (also in another league of his own) is Little Jimmy King. Sadly he has left us as well, but not before I saw him live at BB Kings blues club in Memphis. All I can say is WOW. You should check him out too. Thanks for the vid.
I think Ima buy youtube merch for the first time, lol. DOPE SHIRT, love it. As an uber nerd, born on Pi day who loves makin music, but spent more time on math, I'm sold.
If ya like Stevie Ray, you should give a listen to Johnny Winter, preferably a live performance from the 70's like "Be careful with a fool", or "Mama talk to your daughter".. You'll like it I promise.. He's the only Albino white guy in the blues hall of fame. I went to several SRV shows, loved his New Years eve parties in Houston.. The biggest and best line up of top notch blues guitarists I have ever seen on a stage at one time just shredding it up.
Written while he was in rehab. It and Tightrope. Both great songs. Recovery songs. Tgey are from the album in step. His last album with Double Trouble. He did record Famiky Style with his brother Jimmie and was released a month after his death. Tick Tock was a great little hit song from Family Style.
I first heard Stevie after hearing my cousins band do a cover of Mary Has A little Lamb and Change It. I had to see the original. That's all it took. I was hooked!!!

Can never go wrong with Stevie Ray Vaughan!
Especially live
One if the best concerts I have seen
"Hello Police, I need to report a murder. I just saw Stevie Ray Vaughn and he f**king killed it."
Try to find the live mtv performance with SRV and Joe Satriani. Joe's a great guitarist but SRV schooled him.

💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸💖💖💖💖💖💖😊🌹
Oh...the other guys were really good too!
Powerful! ❤️Donna G
Man! You had to Stevie me at this time of day! So much for sleepin again...man always brings the groove out!
You can tell his fellow musicians were turned by playing with him.
Saw him play, never met him but can attest to how his music, personality and struggles deeply rooted into the lives of so many individuals who he touched. His adopted hometown, Austin, TX, remembers him proudly.
I went to see him in concert in the Paramount Theater in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Small arena and he died not too long after. Awesome concert
**SVR** ... THE BEST OF THEM ALL.... RIP Stevie!
Was blessed to see SRV about a month before his passing. God makes talent like this once a generation and I’m glad I got to see him perform.
Everything SRV did was unspeakably awesome brother. Great work on your videos. Blessings.
My brothers band opened for Stevie and I was playing bass. Our guitar player actually got to play his SRV with the serial #1
Just the best.
my fave Stevie Ray one
Stevie Ray was the Guitar and the Guitar was Stevie Ray. He was also my brother. I went to every gig he ever played.
Night Music was the BOMB!!! Nothing but musician's musicians on stage here!!!
To me the Greatest Guitarist ever the talent this man had can't be taught he was gifted. Thank you for believing in his music.
By the way, he wasn’t overrated. He was underrated. He was successful and it’s a shame he didn’t get to live to see how far his success could have gone, specially after he got sober. ❤️🖤
And there it is . Nothing more to be said. No one can ever compare to him. Greatly missed.
Its great to see people come together over music, it breaks down barriers, God bless yowl in Jesus name !! Great reactionc!!
Yes I seen him in Atlanta, Fabulous Fox Theatre with BB King and Lonnie Mack.
Yes -- Ty should do this video.... I mentioned it on a previous video he did. (Wings of Pegasus did this one recently.)
I like Fil that's where I found kingfish. He special already found it now he's just preaching
Saw him 4th row center in VA...tears streamin, his guitar was so beautiful❤
From the landmark In Step album which Vaughan recorded after his recovery from Drugs and Alcoholism...It was marked by a new Fervor and creative joy in his sound. So sad he passed not to long after this...My top 2 favorite guitarists are SRV and Clapton...totally different approaches but both Bluesmen at heart...
Effortlessly immaculate -
RIP Stevie Ray Vaughan.
You need to do a reaction of Stevie Ray and his brother Jimmy playing a double necked guitar playing Pipeline.
that was insane shit !
I just found out a couple of weeks ago that SRV was only 5'5". Shocked.
Such talented guitar riffs !!!!
Everyone in that room is a legend in their own right.
Just watching how much fun the band members are having is a joy.
Both great guitarists who have left us..Hiram and Stevie...Check out this same show when they had Curtis Mayfield on...Fantastic!!
I think Ima buy youtube merch for the first time, lol. DOPE SHIRT, love it. As an uber nerd, born on Pi day who loves makin music, but spent more time on math, I'm sold.
Saw him a year before he passed away, excellent guitarist
If ya like Stevie Ray, you should give a listen to Johnny Winter, preferably a live performance from the 70's like "Be careful with a fool", or "Mama talk to your daughter".. You'll like it I promise.. He's the only Albino white guy in the blues hall of fame.
I went to several SRV shows, loved his New Years eve parties in Houston.. The biggest and best line up of top notch blues guitarists I have ever seen on a stage at one time just shredding it up.
Have you watched any Jimmy Ray Vaughn with The Fabulous Thunderbirds or the two brothers together?
Jimmie Lee Vaughan ... SRV older brother
I was fortunate to have seen SRV 3 times in concert.
Phenomenal..and that's putting it mildly..r u with me? Stevie Ray Vaughan is the NAME
I knew him. I love him. I miss him heart and soul. Best of the Best ❤️💔
Written while he was in rehab. It and Tightrope. Both great songs. Recovery songs. Tgey are from the album in step. His last album with Double Trouble. He did record Famiky Style with his brother Jimmie and was released a month after his death. Tick Tock was a great little hit song from Family Style.
Stevie would super glue his callouses back on his fingers when they fell off. That's dedication. RIP.
Hendrix, Stevie Ray, Prince......we were so lucky to have these great performers in our life time.
Yes, I know Bucket head too - personally! There are some great ones! Stevie is his own fingerprint - one of a kind!
SRV was opening for someone else when I saw him. At the time I didn't like this kind of music. But man, I knew he was a phenomenon. Solid fan now.
He became one with his guitar! I love watching him. Just the best! Gone way too soon!
I first heard Stevie after hearing my cousins band do a cover of Mary Has A little Lamb and Change It. I had to see the original. That's all it took. I was hooked!!!
Every other week I put Stevie Ray Vaughan reactions up on my Facebook, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Van Halen and others mainly Stevie
Great video because he's playing with a bunch of jazz legends; virtuosos in their own right and they all could jam...
The best the Good Lord made! Guitarist born to play and shows the world how it's done!
Greatness! I cant even move when he's playing. Amazing!!!
Check out SRV doing an amazing version of Texas Flood, mostly solo, live in Tokyo. Or, Life Without You live at Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ.
That makes my fingers hurt just watching gotta love Stevie Ray Vaughan
SRV.... A guitar legend! 🎸 Absolutely love his music! 💕😊🌹
