    What Ive found easiest was, if old carpet is still in good condition without dry rotting or holes, trace and cut the new carpet on top of your old carpet for an exact fit for perfect and easy installation

    Looks great. I love my old Bullet. It’s now 24 years old. It’s been drinking for a while. Did mine myself. Bullet sells the carpet for its boats. The front deck is already cut and has finished edge. It was a lot less work than yours. It’s been 10-12 years and still looks good. I probably won’t do it again myself, I’m getting too old.

    When I did my boat, I bought a couple of wire brush attachments for my impact driver, put some Goof-Off on the glue, let it sit for about 20 seconds then went over it with the wire brush and finished the front deck in 15 minutes

    • @BassGeek
      @BassGeek  4 роки тому

      The front deck wasn't really the issue, it was under the driver console. It was tacky. It was a 2 day deal. I had to use goof off and scrap it would just muck up wire brushes and sand paper just didn't work.

    Hey all you needed to remove the carpet is 2 gallons of gasoline and a lowes spray bottle .
    Step 1 , remove all obstacles
    Step 2 , soak carpet let set for 2 to 3 minutes, then the carpet will just peel off.
    Step 3 , re spray after carpet is off to wipe excess glue residue.
    Then just place carpet mark and cut , clean surface and glue then let tack . Lay carpet and smooth out .
    The end

    I did the carpet in my bass tracker pt175 txw in early July.... I had the vinyl flooring originally so they only used a spray on adhesive and removing the old vinyl wasn't that hard.... However just dealing with everything else in the heat..

If you use a buffer, use a foam pad at low rpms. You can actually put it on a microfiber and rub it to a shine! No thanks needed!

    Man you are doing the glue the hard way. Get some upholstery glue, contact cement. Its high temp and works great. way faster and spray on with an air gun. DAP brand blue label Landau Top and Trim adhesive. you spray one coat to set and then another to cover again, and you can respray to reactivate it as well, it is solvent based. I had an upholstery business for 10 years and used it on all marine or any headliner projects.

      Just a my opinion, I restore these bass boats for a living, I do about 2 to 3 carpet jobs a week by myself, I have found over the years that it is actually a waste of time to go as far as you guys did, as long as you use a sharp scraper or sander and knock off the top layer and smooth it up, what is left on the boat is not going to effect the glue sticking. Start to finish on tearing down and prepping a boat for carpet takes me about 3hours mainly because of that, because if it is stuck on good enough where you need a solvent to get it off then it wasn’t coming off for awhile lol
