I cannot thank you enough for providing these simple to follow tutorials on subjects that can seem daunting to the uninitiated. My DAW's stock plugins will be able to handle these tasks, but it's so refreshing to have a sort of roadmap to reference from folks such as yourself. Thanks again, Cameron. All the best to you.

Asking if Ozone Elements (or any Izotope Elements for that matter) is "worth it" is the wrong question to ask IMO. The question should be "can you get by" since it is aimed at people who are new at producing, or people with a limited budget. Great video nonetheless!

Ozone has a lot of good tools, especially the suite, but my problem with them is they market it as though you can use to sort of "mix and master for dummies" and that is not the case. When I first got Ozone several years ago my finals sounded worse with it than if I just used Ableton's plugins to mix and master. Once I learned a lot more about mixing and mastering in general (well, kind of learned) then I was able to actually take advantage of the suite of tools Ozone has to get good sounding finals.

I'm having trouble with ozone 9 elements lagging sometimes. When I first installed it worked great. Now, when I open the plugin every action takes about 10 seconds to take effect. I've tried it with two different daws and get the same results. Occaisionally it will work properly but most of the time it will lag. Have gotten no meaningful help from either DAW manufacturer or from Izotope. Clearly an issue with computer I'm guessing, but that doesn't explain why it works sometimes properly. Any suggestions on what to search for to identify what is interferring with operation of Ozone 9?

RX can be an absolute lifesaver, and it's pretty much 'the standard' for post production. If you need some kind of audio repair/denoise/etc tool, IMO there isn't an alternative haha.
I'm not too familiar with the 'elements' version of RX but at a quick glance it seems like a good jumping off point. The only critical feature lacking is batch processing if you intended to use it for say de-nosing a sample library soundset.

Bit confused at the end though when you seemed to suggest adding compression/dynamics AFTER processing with Ozone?
I'm guessing you are actually adding it to the chain before Ozone?
Otherwise you'd be undoing the work you did to set your perfect LUFS and Peak values in the maximiser surely?
Either way you'd still have to probably need to go tweak Ozone again once extra compression is in the chain.

Mid / side is a form of EQ that splits
the frequencies & helps 2 shape
the stereo image in short. 4 instance,
a hi-pass on the side portion allows
the bass 2 cut through without effecting the essential sub info & so on & so on.
