Pat Tate wasn't even widely known around Essex, let alone being a top face in London. I doubt Shaw even knew who he was if he did indeed chin him, but I'm sure this never happened. Just another bit of mythologising of the Essex Boys legend, which is more hype than reality. Tucker was known to have shit himself when confronted by other doormen and Rolfe was a blade merchant living in the shadow of the other two. Three bullies off their tits on gear and pills every day thinking they were Gods. They weren't. I'm still intrigued by Billy Blundell's involvement, but let's face it, there was a queue to ice those three that stretched all the way to the Continent. You reap what you sow.

can’t recall that myself but i’ll have a double-check . Woolard DID say that Shaw was an awesome street fighter until he was on the grog , then anyone could have had him , and Roy knew it , his weakness was the drink , that’s why he got done by those doormen later in life . As Bartley Gormans main mentor Will Braddock warned him “they’ll come for you when you’re drunk ‘owd lad” @@enquirer2.0

There may actually be an element of truth to this.Danny Wollard was invested in a canabis grow and Tate and Tucker tried to tax the growers who where backed by Wollard and his associates.Apparently one of Danny Wollard,s associates warned Tate and left him with a broken jaw after a scuffle.I believe Wollard,s associate was Roy Shaw who was no push over TATE may have been strong but Roy wasn't to be messed with or underestimated.

He was employed at Raquels nightclub as a doorman and wasn’t a very good one because he’d run when it kicked off. I’ve seen him do it.
