When human beings euthanise our beloved pets, we do so safe in the knowledge that we are lovingly releasing them from their pain, and it's accepted as humane by the entirety of society. When a human being is suffering, however, lots of people baulk at the very idea that they may choose to release _themselves_ of their pain. It's different in other parts of the world, for instance in Japan, where the act of releasing ones' self from earthly pain is viewed as an honourable way to depart this world, and there is no stigma attached to the final act of a suffering human being there. Western medical doctrine does support this though, and indeed the medical services follow an oath to preserve life always, even if the person in question is suffering, and consciously wishes to expedite the terminal process quicker. The doctors aren't allowed to cooperate with human euthanasia, and I find that heartbreaking and desperately sad. Wr all know at least one person who died a horrible death, in pain and suffering horribly, whose passing could have been so much more comfortable for them, albeit at the cost of their consciousness which a lot of families choose not to opt for, understandably reluctant to let go of their loved one. Euthanasia (i use this term as the alternative description would see this comment deleted by UA-cam censors) is a gift, and dave Courtney did nothing wrong in my eyes. Well Dave' I understand your pain. My back was severely messed up in 2005, I have learned how to walk in that time but I've been aware that the chair is just over the horizon. I have always said when I'm done that's it as I can't see life in wheelchair, I am 47 now and it's getting tougher. Some say the cowards way out but it takes balls to finish the final chapter like you have and I admire you for that. I am sure you have everything squared away. I would like to pass on my deepest condolences to your loved ones.
Have a beautiful journey Dave
