@jefroid Thanks for all the nice comments about Portugal's entry this year. Well, the song you sang at the end was "Lights off" from Czech Republic 2022 ;)
Thank you for the nice comment. As for the second thing, I am not going to spoil it 🙃 but I am going to write down your submission. BTW, what is your favourite esc song ever?
Altos are pretty rare in this country, and while there’s obviously quite a lot of good sopranos, mezzos are still in the majority. If you liked this, you should definitely check her earlier solo work and also a band she sings in, The Casino Royal (finding it in the first place is a royal PITA, because of the name their genre is obviously associated with, so here go the album names - and many of them are available here and on streaming plaftorms - for good measure: “36:45”, “Dolce Vita”, “From Portugal With Love”, “Life is Waiting for You” and “Eu e Tu”). She definitely has range and is a phenomenal singer all around. Also, she does hold a BFA in Sound and Light Design, which might explain why the staging is quite effective even with such a low budget as in this year’s Festival da Canção…
Oh, and I forgot to say which is my favourite ESC song… As a pretty unconventional Eurovision fan, in that I find the socio-cultural phenomenon itself funny but don’t care much for the music - which is largely forgettable and bland in comparison with the weird shit I listen to (think Mike Patton and the like) - or even the staging - opera and theatre has got me spoiled, and there’s not much you can do to reel in ADHD-like brains in three minutes, TBH -, I’ll go with three Portuguese entries - no, I can’t just pick one, that would be unfair - for different reasons: “Desfolhada”, in that it was really ahead of its time lyrically speaking and very competent from a vocal standpoint (sadly, Simone kind of screwed up her vocal chords due to lack of proper coaching and care, which were but a mirage back then), “A Tourada”, in that it was even more risqué from a strictly political standpoint and unfairly boycotted by the European public (they just didn’t get that a “reverse-boycott” would’ve been even more effective, embarrassing and damaging to the fascist regime it was not-so-subtly dishing out on, and they really had to be actively not giving two shits about the lyrics’ translation and meaning, the country and its situation to not get it), and obviously “Amar Pelos Dois”, not because of the lyrics as a whole (they have some weird agogic, such as that “talvez devagarinho possas voltáráprender” line - yes, I intentionally misspelled it to make it look like how it’s sang and emphasize just how weird it sounds in Portuguese - and a - in hindsight - slightly creepy, obsessive meaning), but because Salvador is just such an insanely great singer that I don’t really think his score will be beaten for maybe 20 years or so. That entry really more than made up for the boring drought that our participation in the ESC was until then, and sort of vindicated the other two ones (though Mimicat, being a self-professed Simone fan, would do well in rounding it up ;) ).
That's a good one. It was quite funny how Johnny Logan was on The Masked Singer here last year and he sounded great. I've only heard snippets of his songs and he still sounds the same even after all these years.
Dance is definitely not traditional portuguese. Same for the song, it is traditional yes but a combination of several countries and genders in my opinion.
And in Mimicat’s opinion as well! ;) She claims to have mixed in Portuguese, Spanish, French and even Balkan stuff in there. And a bit of “pimba”, too… The fact that it manages to sound so good as a whole, instead of being a mess, is pure genius. 😂
Don’t have spanish, is more Franch, if You are Going for this way and something from east europe, is cabaret musicall. This is a retro music. I cant write in english in this computer, it is made for write portuguese.
What is your favourite Eurivision song ever? And what is the answer to the guessing game at the end of the video?

Never heard of the first one, but I do know Amar Pelos Dois. It's not my favourite but I can see why people really like it. Good choice!
Nice comments! Thank you! Love Mimicat❤❤❤
She is awesome.
My favourite song is "Amar pelos Dois" by Salvador Sobral
Good choice. Not my favourite but I respect it.
My favourite foreign entry is Euphoria from Loreen, and my favourite portuguese entry from all time is festa da vida from Carlos Mendes .
I also like Euphoria. I have never heard of the second one so I might have to look it up.
@@jefroid661 Is the portuguese entry from 1972.
I was not even born yet, but, i love it.

Johnny Logan - What's another year - 1980

12 points for Portugal
They will get some. For now I give them 8 points but that can all change after a few listens.

For me it´s, Cést le dernier qui a parlé qui a raison", Amina, France 1991!

Not my favourite but I can see why he is for some people. I prefer Mimicat.
Where does this guy come from?
Me? I'm from Belgium.
1944" by Jamala, Ukraine 💛💙
That's a good one. It is very dramatic and full of emotion. Jamala really owns the song, too. Nobody else could sing it the same as her.
Vote please thank you 🎉🎉🎉😮😊
I can't in the first semi but I can during the final.
