    Gotu kola is a almost everyday eating vegetable/ green leaves in Sri Lanka. We make a salad with raw finely chopped leaves and stems mixed with grated coconut lime juice, onions and green chilies. The leaves salad or juice give lot of health benefits. Gotu kola name also is in Sri Lankan Sinhala language. Meaning funnel like leaves. So it is not chinese thing. But may be it has spread to China and other asian countries. But the plant is native to Sri Lanka.

    Thank you for this informative video. My ND just prescribed this to me for anxiety, Edema, swelling & venous insufficiency in the lower legs/ankles. Can already feel a reduction in inflammation and anxiety throughout my whole body. This herb is a Godsend! 😇 Did not realize it was an antiinflammatory until hearing you mention it in your video. You are very knowledgeable. Saw that there are a lot of comments concerning possible adverse effects on the liver, but my intuition tells me there is a lot of misinformation out there, as alcohol & Tylenol are far more dangerous to the liver than anything else, and they are ao readily available and socially acceptable in today's world ~ despite the toxic side effects of each. Natural herbs are the way to go! :-)

    Gotu Kola is superior in my opinion to Gingko Biloba for memory issues because it does so much more for the mind. But as far as memory it is a gem. 💎

    If you find it raw in the store buy and eat it like salad. It more beneficial that way. I'm from South East Asia and my parents ate it that way said it gives more nutrients by eating it raw, you also can it other way.

    If you have genital or vaginal Herpes, use the Madagascar Centella Asiatica Ampoule Facial Serum on the blister on the first day of the flare.
    Wash the are with soap, dry it well.
    Soak a 100% cotton round with Centella y directly apply on the sore(s), do not rinse.
    Reapt 2-3 times a day.
    If you start applying Centella the first day of the flare, the flare will last maybe 2 days max but it wont be payful.
    If start later, it will stop in 2 days max.

    I started with 3 x 100mg in each meal for about 3 months. Now I am using 100mg to 200mg a day when I need to focus, before an important work or meeting on weekdays. I don't use it on weekends. It helped me a lot, and I can say that it saved my career. Is it safe to use it this way for longer periods? I want to use it for years like all my life at least 10 years or more. How can I use it this way? Is it harmful to my organs or is there any proven harm? How to adjust the dosage to use it for years?

    • @JessicaNortonND
      @JessicaNortonND  Рік тому +2

      I would definitely recommend you check with your practitioner when thinking about longer term use. As you need to consider your medical history. I generally will have clients cycle off every few months for about 2 weeks and reassess if it is still necessary.

    What about info on the web (Mt.Sinai being one) about it's dangers in the liver?

    • @JessicaNortonND
      @JessicaNortonND  11 місяців тому +1

      from what I've researched the cases that reported liver issues were unable to rule out contamination. There were other studies where liver function was measured while on the herb and there was no liver damage. In this case this is a herb that you can talk to your doctor about and have liver function monitored while taking the herb. Or substitute for another herb.

  • @JJFlores25
    @JJFlores25 Рік тому +1

    What the daily dosage recommendation? Heard your suppose to cycle it off after 2 weeks due to it being some what toxic to your ~liver i believe ?

    • @JessicaNortonND
      @JessicaNortonND  Рік тому +2

      There is concern that gotu kola may cause liver toxicity in some patients. There are at least four case reports of hepatotoxicity associated with gotu kola; however, hepatotoxic contaminants cannot be ruled out, as laboratory analysis was not conducted on the products used. Additionally, the doses of gotu kola used in these cases were not reported (13182,92506). In a clinical trial where liver function was monitored, taking gotu kola 120 mg daily for 6 months was not associated with changes in liver function (11065). I would say to always work with a practitioner and to get herbs/supplements from a source that does 3rd party testing to ensure safety.

    Hi, thanks for the video. What would you say the ideal / safe dosage if I take it as a Leaf Juice diluted with water, 8oz?

    • @JessicaNortonND
      @JessicaNortonND  10 місяців тому

      if you are using the raw herb and making your own juice with water, I don't see benefit in drinking more than 8oz a day. They often do this in places like Thailand. You might want to check out some recipes online...sometimes it's often called pennywort
