Lot of respect for Mike here, the interviewer clearly wanted to throw Morrissey under a bus and Mike resisted it.
Totally agree. Mike Joyce is not only a legend but also handles this stupid ambush brilliantly and with a calm and distance that is admirable.
Agree. So much crap coming from that interviewer...
A double-decker bus?
Even after the high court and the things that happened between them, morrissey saying I wish the absolute worst for mike Joyce for the rest of his life, he is the good man he is by protecting him and defending him. He knows the interviewer is a ignorant joke! What a waste of time, I don’t think people realize how good Andy and mike were? What a great band❤️
Poor poor Marissy he got thrown under the bus so sad
Morrissey may hate his guts, but Mike Joyce was definitely looking out for him here.
I hope Morrissey lets go of his animosity and gives his fans a reunion with the old band. Morrissey was always a problem for the band, causing drama and extra expenses. Some people never change.
I am glad to see Mike Joyce taking the high-road on this awful interviewer's attacks and traps.
@@davidparker9676Rip Andy
@@bluemcdaniel99 Yes, RIP Andy.
Such an underrated talent.
He always seemed like the coolest and most level-headed member of the band.
I met Mike Joyce in 2006 and during our conversation he never said a bad word about Morrissey and even admitted to me that he would jump at the chance of a Smiths reunion . He knows as we all do that will never happen .
That’s amazing. Must have been amazing.
honestly, if Morrissey still objects, i think a band consisting of Rourke, Joyce, Jesus Christ (known otherwise as Johnny Marr) and Jarvis Cocker of Pulp.
@@matthewfbridges Just make an AI Morrissey hologram perform on tour.
Morrissey will not make his true fans happy with a reunion.
You can tell Joyce isn't impressed by the end here and rightfully so. He came on to get interviewed, not to play a silly game of wether Morrissey is a rascist or not. I felt really bad for him because he seems like a throughly nice chap.
as they say: 'nice guys finish as tv fodder'
Me too. This so-called interview couldn't end soon enough for me. Mike felt that 2 mins. in.
I KR!!!!
Good on Mike for not sticking the knife into Morrissey, More class that way.
mistersurrealist I’m talking about in this interview.
This was actually uncomfortable to watch, and you could tell towards the end Mike Joyce really wasn't impressed. They deliberately took quotes out of context and was expecting mike to bitch on Morrissey but he wasn't biting.
Totally agree!
Mike stood up for Morrissey repeatedly, despite their difficult past, seems like a very decent guy. And Morrissey just doesn't want to see the beautiful things in British culture discarded, nor the lives of animals, all the controversy is contrived.
Poor Mike. This is ghastly. He should have just walked out live on air. Car crash stuff. Mike is such a kind man. Probably the worst interview I've ever seen in my life.
The host is absolutely one of the worst pieces of garbage to be graced by someone classy as Mike Joyce.
I hope Mike researches the shows he agrees to appear on in the future. This was an absolute hit-piece on Morrissey and in no way benefited Joyce in any possible way. Mike Joyce did a great job avoiding all of the traps and smears.
Couldn’t agree more it was awful
This may be the worst interview I have ever witnessed. The blatant attempts to label Morrissey a racist by taking his words out of context are appalling and another case of the media being the media. Even though Mike and Moz may not be on the same team anymore it is admirable that Mike shuts down the petty attempts to cause controversy by this fickle-minded interviewer.
Feeble-minded?
kind of feel bad for mike on this one. hes clearly not got the best relationship with morrissey and is then brought out to talk to him for 7 minutes...cant help but feel the lyrics 'why do i smile at people who dont care if i live or die' were running through his head during this interview
Not only did Mike refuse to follow the Morrissey-is-racist script; he also didn't take the bait about the Smiths vs. Morrissey thing. He said that he's biased toward the Smiths because he was in it, and proceeded to praise Morrissey's role as Smiths frontman.
Big respect for Joyce, top quality lad.
You are awesome Mike for standing your ground,I hope Moz sees this and thanks you for having his back.
Moz did see it, he posted a comment I am responding to right now.
Morrissey will not let go of his petty anger and grudge against the Smiths band members.
Poor quality show, unbelievable. To read quotes without any context is not fair. If we do this exercise to ourselves, then probably we are all racists (which is not true)
Andrés Auquilla That’s what I thought - THIS is journalism??
One of the worst interviewers I have ever seen. Way to stand your ground Mike~
this why Morrissey does not do much interviews.....most people who work for the media seem to always be such pricks!
From watching this I've gained so much respect for Mike. He stayed true to what he thought and made points that clearly need to be made.
Mike Joyce is a class act. Just amended this text to say I hit the thumbs down button for how bad this interview was.
exactly.
The level of second hand embarrassment I had whilst watching this is appalling
Mike has a lot of class, this was a total hit job on Morrissey and he wasn't going to have any part of it.
PC Culture would have never liked The Smith's.
What a pathetic segment! Mike was being a class act about it!
Fair play to Mike Joyce, the interviewer and his laughing hyenas are deplorable here.
Mike wasn't even finished talking when he interrupted him
So he was invited to talk about Morrisey? Respect Mike Joyce.
Mike is a GENIUS for resisted from that stupid interviewer.
A total ambush video on poor Mike Joyce. Sam Delaney has always been second rate - hence a show I’d never heard of before this click bait nonsense was featured on NME (equally worthless)
At the end Mike was blushing with embarrassment. All those people on that show are nerds taking revenge on people who did something worthwhile of their lives. Cringe.
Sam Delaney should be ashamed for lowering our collective vibration. I'd love to hear Mike talk about interesting things, not this dreck.
Clint Turcotte Very true!
Honestly I respect Mike for not throwing Morrissey under the bus. It was obvious he was uncomfortable-and what was the interviewer even thinking playing a game like that? Although Morrissey and Mike don’t get along anymore, Mike has only mentioned Morrissey’s positive qualities and refused to bash him for the way he behaves now.
Haha Mike looks so unimpressed after that musical interlude imitation.
After all that happened between the two you can still feel loyalty and respect from Mike Joyce. Who would have thought?
Top fella Mike.
Kudos to Mike. Defending Morrissey isnt even something he himself likes to do. Mike seems all around pleasant.
wow I have so much respect for him after seeing this. Morrissey can be a dick and although Mike had so many reasons to be rude about him, he behaved like a gentleman. Just wow-
Mike up on my estimations here.. not that i know too much about the court case. But evident here he's sticking up for Morrissey. The interviewer.. well.. enough said..
Go on Mike. Respect.
They were like brothers, only brothers are allowed to stick it to each other. Outsiders aren't allowed to do that. Family only...The Smiths
Good job handling those questions. The interviewer was throwing quotes out of context and Mike handled him with class.
Moz ain't racist
Well done Mike I love the smiths
If you have Mike fucking Joyce on the show, ask MIKE JOYCE questions, about MIKE JOYCE, not Morrissey. Upsetting
And… this is the reason why people ignorantly claim Morrissey is a racist. Because of people like this interviewer.
This interview was lame? So lame. Not even an interview tbh.
Mike is so classy
Mike is fantastic here.
I've just fallen in love with Mike Joyce.
Mike’s a quality bloke, no doubt about it
If anyone actually understands what HALAL meat means. It's the THROAT being Slashed during its Slaughter. . So lm completely with Morrissey on that. NO Animal should suffer for the Meat on a Plate.. Plus its actually strange to me that Mike still didn't understand the Flower reference Morrissey used during Smiths Concerts. After some research l understand it to be Morrisseys Passive Aggressive response and Support for the Nuclear anti War moment that was around at the Time.
better hide this man from that woman💀
💀💀
the interviewer has stains on his shirt
Mike is an absolute professional. Shame about the rest of this lot.
What an awful interview! Mike deserves better
There aren't enough expletives to say about the host! he's not fit enough to wipe Mike Joyce's backside
Mike's reaction at 4:40 pretty much sums up this entire interview!
What a Spud.
Mike should have walked.
Moz is not racist!
The Smiths' 'iconography' reflected the world in which the band grew up. Nothing more, nothing less.
Morrissey is the hero I needed as a teenager and now as a thirty year old. He's brilliant. This clip is bullshit
The most valid point here was when Mr. Joyce said that Moz yearns for an England of 40+ years ago. His music has always been indicative of a lost era, it’s part of their charm. “You’re the bees’ knees”, “stay on my arm, you little charmer”, etc.
He’s never said a bad word against Morrissey In any interview
Gutter media/journalism at its finest. Could tell that Mike wasn't impressed.
He really has no reason to hate Morrissey, he owes everything to Morrissey and Marr. Lets not forget, he won the case. If he lost do you think he’d be so nice? But he’s clearly a good dude who had his old friends back.
Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke. Without them, there would have been no Smiths! 😀👍
Someone should tell them that the whole "halal" and "isis" comments were a joke.
i’m to meet mike joyce this month, and god how happy i was to see this interview and realise what a nice bloke he is. he coped with these morons on one of the dumbest interviews ever made, and defended the man media point out to be his “enemy”. that’s a virtue!
I've never seen or heard of this guy Sam Delaney before, but my word that was an absolute car wreck of an interview. Fair play to Mike for conducting himself in a very dignified and fair way, that host was embarassing to watch.
Nice, interesting man. Perfect drummer for Marrs orchestrations. Very violated by Morrissey's clandestine business dealings regarding Smiths payouts.
What a shame Sam Delaney exhists.
Mike Joyce is such a great guy.
If you don't like islam ☪ is not racism, is religion bigotry, get your hate straight, religion is not race.
Joyce seems to be a really good guy. And what a drummer !
why do they keep bringing up hitler - these leftists are crazy
Mike has morphed into another human being
Horrific interview... Morrissey was asked about the Chinese subculture of still caging and eating cats & dogs. He stated his views on it, which would have been the same views as any rational Westerner. He also stated a fact about the Cockney accent disappearing. If he was to call the Yemeni or Saudis barbaric for chopping peoples heads off, would that also make him racist.
But youre not allowed facts in today's world. Individuals feelings come first.
i wish all the people involved in this interview the very worse in life
Correction. It’s not the first time some talentless nobody has recycled this nothing story.
exactly what most people commenting have said... a shite show attempting to put Moz under the bus
This last bit is absolutely disgraceful. Really shows you the game they're playing.
Im from united states everyone here is racist.dont let media fool u we all love our own.
Joyce looks now like (Northern Pop Legend) Johnny Shuttleworth !
('Ah'm oop and down like a Bride's nightie . . . ')
Sam Delaney: "he should of judged his wording maybe better".. Me: "you shouldn't be deliberately reading him out of context you hack".
both are true tho Moz talks in a way that leaves too much room for interpretation
@@oyemate8647 Perhaps he doesn't care how agenda-driven idiots interpret him, eh. Perhaps he just says what he thinks - and perhaps that's how people should be. Incidentally it's how people WERE, not too long back, before it became so trendy to dogpile people and score points for counting racists - as though for each one you name you get a prize. We're living in thoroughly ridiculous times. Moz knows that and he doesn't give a shit, because he simply doesn't care about the opinions of idiots who can't think with a single grain of nuance. Neither should you, neither should I.
Who is allowed to label anyone a racist anyway? And is there a degree of racist? Like sorta racist? Racist? Very racist? Not very racist at all? Very very very racist???
That Sam Delaney guy is grotesque. I don't think I have ever seen him on tv without thinking "what a prick".
I think there is more differance from the Smiths and Morriseys solo carrier, -for me it is the song writing - and the differance is big.
god this was so awfully cringe to watch. the host definitely thought mike was going to go on a rant agreeing with him about how morrissey is racist & that’s why they had planned the quiz at the end. as soon as they heard what he had to say they should’ve just scrapped the quiz. mike has just expressed that he doesn’t believe morrissey to be a racist & yet immediately you go into a quiz of “which racist quote is morrissey’s”… how awkward and embarrassing
Damn the ear lobes! 👂
😂 😂 😂
IF HE IS OR HE ISN'T, I THOUGHT IT WAS THE MUSIC THAT WAS THE IMPORTANT FACTOR IN HIS CAREER, AND YOU CERTAINLY CANNOT FAULT HIM ON THAT FRONT.
Sam Delaney, a voice for radio if ever I'd seen one. Looks like Green Gilbert.
A face for radio don't you mean?

Bad, underhanded mean interviewer.
Good form mike Joyce. He may be a prick but he is our prick. The host tried so hard but he should learn to never get involved in other peoples domestics.
i think the theme tune for that game was "money changes everything"...too bloody right
5:52 isn't the sky supposed to be painted blue and fields green?
Well spoken
Starting to looking like Stan Ogden of Coronation Street 1970s
4:00 It was at this the moment that he knew, he fucked up
No pleading and squealing here.
Wow. That section at the end. Could you be any more desperate for a bit of woke controversy?
Virtue signaller gotta signal.
Big BIG good karma to Mr Mike Joyce for not falling into the bullshit bias of this interviewer just trying to frame Morrissey. Poor.
Be mad if he was him being from Manchester. Very cosmopolitan place
This has to be the most unbelievably ameuterish, fumblingly incompetent "interview" I've had the displeasure of watching.
Poor interview, he's better than this did well not to get more annoyed
I take that back. Joyce is starting to morph into 'Stan'? (I think it was) husband of Hilda Ogden :
the non-working Window-cleaner from Coronation Street of the 1970s.
Mike is nothing like Stan Ogden.
