First time POE player but I'm half tempted to (also glutton for punishment) do a minion-less melee/curse, Bloodmage going center or right ascendency nodes. Get some basic spell/stat boosts early and beeline towards Blood Magic. Will have to see how much of the Int/Str nodes are filled in and useful. I guess you'd lean into maces, though Templar flails or Marauder axes would presumably mesh better once they're released. If not I'm just gonna do some kind of cold/bonestorm thing.
Excited and nervous for you. That is pretty much exactly what I really want to do with this class since going melee will incentivize you to stack some amount of strength which also scales your life which scales your crit. Gold respec should be cheaper early on in character progression so I'm going to probably doing something purely spells until around level 50-60 when I can have plenty of points in the attack part of the tree. Mana might be an issue until blood magic so probably going to settle for lifetap supporting my main skill
@poopbutts Nice! On the plus side if it doesn't work I'm fine with off ramping to whatever. So long as it's generically a petless lifesteal thing. Monk seems like a solid idea too, though no Blood Magic. Good use for respecs!
My guess for bloodmage would be to run explosive grenade bleed with full fire conversion. You probably don’t need the base crit node once you have a good crit chance on your crossbow. With bleed duration you can balance your crit chance so you always have a bleed instance up that comes from a crit.
@@xTobsecretx How would we be fully converting to fire without something like avatar of fire (turns off bleeds)? But that could be comfy. We are pretty far away from the grenade nodes but we probably don't need them if we are going dot. We do get some cool stuff like added fire support scaling both the bleed and ignite
Damn GGG saw your video and nerfed Spike haha Do you know if spears are in early access or not? Attack witch early game sounds, yes janky, but also fun, and it'd be nice to know if spear skills are on the table or not.
Oh that's not a bad idea. Any passive freeze you get would be huge. I am considering potentially using SRS alongside essence harvest early to help with mana sustain as well. Also I'm curious to see how much crit you actually get from it but that summon wolf gives crit when they emerge Another weird passive freeze thing that could be interesting is decaying hex alongside chaotic freeze since I plan on using blasphemy enfeeble anyway
@poopbutts that's exactly what I'm thinking of. I have no clue how freeze build up works and what scale of but if it's from the chaos damage itself there's an interesting synergy that only blood mages can have through (+dot dmg -duration) with the infinite dot duration. My main concern right now is the most effective way to consume freeze, cuz there's a possibility to turn up freeze stacking into higher crit uptime than passives are allowing. Like focus on the fastest freeze build up through chaos dot -> cast on crit massive explosion
@@mixed-medium I briefly touch on that in the "other nodes" section in this video but my plan is probably to use that node early on to go bleed + ignite (since fire damage would be able to do both) before I have a ton of life to scale my crit. This is assuming spells can bleed in poe2 which would be a change from poe1 but I guess we will see. Otherwise early pathing will be awkward getting to the attack part of the tree. Assuming we do not have a perfect agony effect (converts crit bonus info damage over time multiplier) then you just ignore the left side of her tree. Which I think makes a pretty good ascendancy still. You just mostly get tank If a perfect agony effect exists you could do the same thing I'm talking about in this video with the only thing really changing being avoiding nodes on the tree that don't scale your bleed/ignite like spell damage.
Im personally planning on using biting frost to guarantee crits for biting frost and gore spike so don’t have to worry about crit chance and just spec cold
@@poopbutts Looks like the bleed support gem applies to any skill. So we should get spell bleed. Could end up with some pretty significant bleed dmg - which would fit the ascendancy pretty nicely. Perfect Agony would be super nice here!
@@Mcnardd I can wait for someone else to chime in who really knows but I'm assuming no just going off of PoE 1. I'm waiting to see if we get a perfect agony keystone or unique that gives that effect because then we could play this as a sick ignite + bleed ascendancy
@poopbutts I think my biggest issue is gonna be reminding my brain that you can use any spell with any class and not just have to stick to the theme, I was wanting to go chaos dot blood witch, but now that we've seen the ascendancy nodes I think monk or gemling legionare would probably be better for chaos dot. Which leads me to thinking Ele crit will be best for this ascdancy, maybe with some archmage and bloodtap shenanigans to hit really high crits but I'm very undecided which way to go lol
@Mcnardd right! Literally the best part of PoE imo. Skills aren't class locked so the options can get crazy. I agree with you on that about chaos dot. I would definitely not play bloodmage as chaos dot. Maybeeee poison if we get a perfect agony effect I'm torn between a bunch of stuff too but it's a long beta, I'm just going to try everything lol
@@brooksybaby03 Chad move. It's going to be tough but there are plenty of payoffs for doing it. Regardless I'm going to level as spells due to her tree positioning
You wouldn't play Sunder til later, it might be viable late campaign with decent gear and weapon spec if you can scale generic Phys dmg on Bonestorm with Splinter/Armor Break. You can also do Corrosion support on a Poison set up for Armor Break. And if you want to stay spell focus, Curse, Chaotic Freeze, Biting Frost might be your bet. (assuming crit chance is hard to scale) I think early Im gonna try to scale Bonestorm with Ignite support into DD-Elemental Discharge/Immolate/Corpse Conserv just cause it sounds fun to go boom boom. Then go Str Stack Armor Break Sunder. I do wonder about Hexblast tho. Also a Mana Stacking Archmage Bleed doesn't sound too-too crazy either. I just wanna play already..... Edit, Just saw Blood Barbs took a bit of an "adjustment" as well. So maybe not "bleed" Archmage. Still think Mana stack would be good. Bleed DD tho?
Lol you sound like me, a million different things pulling you in various directions. But yeah I'm super interested in the sunder angle. I was thinking it should be possible late campaign if not early maps once you get a decent weapon and have enough points to get to the melee part of the tree. I assume you might also have to do it 2 buttons to setup like you are saying with the setup being the thing that breaks armour. I really would like to go some kind of strength stack along this too since it will further scale our life and crit. Ahh so much shit to try it is killing me Bleed dd actually sounds pretty strong but man I've played enough dd for a lifetime lol.
@@sparx2565 thank you! Vaal pact definitely works it is just such a ridiculous amount of travel to get there from her tree location. Lol nooooo ggg just posted the ascendancy info and halfed gorespike to 1 crit multi per 40 life. Edit 2 - Biting frost no longer guarantee's a crit :(
is that enough to make it not worth it anymore?
Seriously? Damn.
Honestly warranted. I think Gore Spike is still strong at 1 per 40.
Still rather good
Still good ?

Spears will come to EA when the respective class for them (probably Huntress) is released. So no spears at the start of EA.
