    I’ve owned a P1S for 6 weeks now (my first 3d printer) and I have learned a lot in these past 6 weeks- but this was definitely the most informative video I have watched since I got the printer! Well explained, clear instructions, A+ all around! Thank you! You’ve got a new subscriber here.

    hey ashley is there a way in bambu studio to make the linewidth of the infill pattern thicker similar to the wall loop criteria . i thaught if my memory serves me right u can do it in cura . but i want to do it in bambu . there are somethings that are easier to make the slicer design the complex structure for lets say a pen holder with no top layers . and just have the open infill of the honey comb work as deviders for the cup . but want a more durable infil that wont break cuz its one linewith thick

    • @ashleys3dprintshop

      Yes there is a way to do it. It's been a while since I touched cura but there are a few tricks in Bambu studio to modify parts of the model. Good topic to cover actually. 😉

    Questions. Wouldn't it be better for this screw holes to go all the way through? And don't you need to increase the infill around then to be stronger? How would you do that, for a next video?

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  10 місяців тому

      You can adjust the "z" height to make it extend a bit more. Going all the way through could affect the piece going into the "shield mount".
      There is a way to make it stronger around the holes as well. Which could be a good topic to cover. Thank you🙂

    the only thing Bambu Studio don't seem to do is allow you to drag like a box on top of a box or item
    you have to centre part one then lower it below the build plate then part 2 can be centred above part one and con bind both together .that was a mouth fall lol

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  10 місяців тому

      You can sorta do that. But you have to hook 2 parts together with assembly.
      They dont have to touch though. If you assemble a flat part with another model you can move it anywhere in the build space.

    I don't know what I am doing wrong, every time I add a part to a project that came from the AI video part, to try to clean it up because it interpreted the part with rough edges and holes in between layers. Any how, I can't see the assembly option when I right click, the only way I seem to be able to join them is by mesh boolean, do I have the parts too close?

  • @robcannon
    @robcannon 10 місяців тому +1

    I am trying to figure out how to fill in a hole with another solid so I can color that solid with a different filament color. Take, for instance, the heart spinner you showed at the beginning of the video. How could you fill in the gaps where the arrow is, so you can paint that part of the model white and make the end result flush? I can figure out how to do that with custom text or svg files based on your other videos, but in this case the model already has shape cut into it and I would like it solid, but two parts so the filament can be changed. Thx.

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  10 місяців тому

      Hmm. That is an interesting request. Filling holes should be straight forward. Filling/coloring them with the imprint of what they are replacing is something I have never tried.
      It's like making a key impression but leaving the clay in the grooves. Nothing obvious is coming to mind but if it isn't flush(like a layer or 2 lower it may work.)
      it would make for an interesting project. If I figure out a complete solution I'll message back.
      If you want the partial solution msg back.

    • @robcannon
      @robcannon 10 місяців тому

      @@ashleys3dprintshop Making a just 1 layer deep would probably give better results. In the model I am working with the groove is many layers deep. That means when I color it in, it just doesn't show up very well. Filling it in with a solid block and raising it to just one layer deep would probably give me a close enough result. It would still be nice to figure out how to fill it and make it flush, but still be two parts so the other part could be colored. Thx for the idea.

    Also, have you messed around with precision settings in the slicer? I am currently messing around with x-y hole/contour compensation to get some dragon egg pieces to screw together & hopefully with some trial and error I will figure it out. But I haven't found too much info elsewhere to help with that so that could possibly be a good video idea too

      Hello, thanks for reaching out. You have to make sure both parts are highlighted.
      You can do it a few ways. @ 2:55 is an example
      1. If they are the only items you can hold control and press A key(to select all), then right click assemble
      If you have multiple plates or several items then do this
      2. You can hold shift key and drag over both parts until they are highlighted, then right click assemble
      3. If you are looking at objects process, you can hold control and click each part then right click assemble
      If you are running into any issues I'll try to help/.

    Hi. I'm a little slow in trying to follow. @ 2:54, how did you quickly switch from having the Plate selected to selecting the two objects? Right after that, what did you click to get the new menu to render? I see what your assembly icon did, but the assembly icon on my screen doesn't do the same thing.
    TIA!!!

      Hello, thank you for the question. So occasionally I unclick the model by clicking the plate . then select them parts.
      So I selected both items with ctrl+ A but there are a few ways to to select them
      1.You can hold Ctrl and mouse Click each piece
      2. You can hold Ctrl and press A, but be careful as it can select all your items in the slicer
      3. You can hold shift and drag over the items to select them
      4. on the process: Objects tab, on the right, you can hold control and select them by clicking the mouse.
      After they are selected you can right click somewhere on the model to bring up that menu to assemble.
      If both items are not selected/highlighted that menu will not show up. If you are still having difficulty please feel free to respond.

    Do you know if it is possible to use the new dovetail cuts in Bambu studio to make several cuts in a model at once? I tried working through their support but they don’t seem very responsive and their initial response pointed me to the wiki document which hasn’t been updated to include the dovetail feature yet and doesn’t seem to mention multiple cuts in general with connectors

    • @ashleys3dprintshop
      @ashleys3dprintshop  10 місяців тому +1

      Am still playing with the new settings. Usually cuts are an entire "plane" so localizing them may not be possible if they follow the same rules as the other cuts. I have some theories to test on the new tools though. It know it's not a great answer but it's on my to do list. 🙂

      Hello, the "Snap to Plate" function is always on and no way, currently, to disable it.

      I made a quick video showing the steps to combine 2 items and cloning them.
      ua-cam.com/video/p7hdchjwr2s/v-deo.html
      Basically you will highlight or select the items
      right click, then *MERGE* .(the old name was assemble but you want MERGE)
      from there you can position your part
      I recommend starting with centering then use the move tool.
      Once you have good model then you can clone your parts.
