The changes with the sequence of the story is a smart move in my opinion because if makes the fans curious and question those changes. This way, the fans will still keep watching the series to check out what the rest of the episodes be like.
I loved how they combined three of the episodes into one without leaving out the important parts of each original episodes. The fact that they made it all happen in Omashu makes the city feel more important and more lived in, and it made perfect sense
"The fact that they made it all happen in Omashu makes the city feel more important and more lived in, and it made perfect sense" I fucking disagree with this sentiment *completely* lmao... By them roping *all* of those storylines together to happen in just Omashu, it just totally condenses the wide variety of locations we saw in the original animated Avatar: The Last Airbender series and it just makes the Avatar universe feel so much more smaller in the Netflix adaptation compared to the original... Also, them shrinking down and combining storylines from the original animated series just makes those individual storylines *way* less impactful and effective than they were in the original animated series...
@@whattheworldneedsiscreativ6421 Agreed Jet's storyline was a bit too streamlined and the Mechanist storyline was cut in half with no northern air temple for them to vandalize
@@whattheworldneedsiscreativ6421That's a fair criticism I can understand and agree with to a point as well. I can MAYBE in defense say that's because of budget reasons but yeah. As long as any rebutal is being civil and not rude I say go right ahead
I think the reason it seems they’re dumping on Aang is because they don’t see him as a child, they see him as the one who will save them. It makes sense people who find out he’s the Avatar would feel abandoned. Aang also didn’t want the responsibility and was afraid of his power, so having him reluctant to learn more bending but wanting to find out how to control the Avatar state I think really makes sense for making the show more streamlined. You can’t have really have him going all over the map for 8 episodes. Also, they might have more time in total, but you can’t put two completely different locations and themes into one episode and have it work. It’s kinda more correct to say they have less than half the episodes but more than double the time to tell each story.
These 8 hour long episodes are about equivalent in time to the original first season and yet they waste a lot of their time just repeating the same 3 story beats while dumping a bunch of exposition. Aang gets all depressed about himself, Sokka/Katara cheers him up, he promises he'll start taking his duty seriously and then repeat.
Sometimes you can’t translate everything from a cartoon into live action it may not flow properly or time constraints, budget, or they just can’t make it 1 for 1. Enjoy the show for what it is & not what it ain’t.
one thing i've learned watching live-action adaptations is to just watch it as it goes and not jump into conclusions even before the whole plot of the episode is unfolded. comparing it scene by scene and complaining about tweaks every now and then just takes out the joy of watching :D
Most ordinary citizens don't know Prince Zuko's face, and even the burn scar isn't a dead giveaway; they only know his name ^Case-in-point, the villagers from "Zuko Alone"? None of them knew he was the Fire Nation prince until he'd outright said it out loud for all to hear
yeah these Girls are so 20tth century it doesn't even Occur to them that the average person doesn't have Insta gram/Facebook/the Internet the closest any of them would get to seeing Royalty is a Hand drawn picture, maybe some Coins w the Emperor
I think its incredible how all three of you know so much about the show, you're talking about it like you just watched it before you started filming. That just shows how much you really love the animated series and it makes watching this with you guy better because you point out even the small changes that I would have never seen.
They ended up actually having 1hr less time than the total runtime of the season 1 cartoon. The concept that theyd have more time was just a guess before it came out.
The biggest annoyance for me is how they don't even acknowledge where Appa and Momo are in any of these episodes... It doesn't make any sense since the gang is obviously not trying to hide the fact that Aang is the Avatar.
The action/fight choreography in this show was fairly well done. It has a good level of creativity to them. One of the aspects I like about them, is how the characters personalities are showcased during them and how they reflect their respective fighting styles. I'm really enjoying seeing your ladies passionate thoughts and feelings on this version of the A:TLA. It displays how important the original animated series is to y'all. Love it.
The change they made as to why Team Avatar decided to go to the Northern water tribe makes absolutely no sense, other than the fact that for some reason the show creators didn't want Aang to learn any waterbending this season... It's so dumb!
I like that Azula was introduced early. It makes us see her build her resentment as Ozai kept pitting her against her brother. Also i believe the directing for Katara was flawed. They need to allow these actors to be themselves. They are more in character when they are free. Overall i love this live action adaptation. It still stayed true to the og and the bending is awesome. I am sure some things they didn't add here will be added in season 2. You got a subscriber
smh why would you want it to be one to one with the series? thats boring its a reinterpretation the soul is still there and i think the folks that they see this show negatively just want everything repeated. i Love the OG ive watched it multiple times, this is a great adaptation, also the creators left for creative differences that were ultimately not used and they are canonizing alot from the live action, they gave it a thumbs up.
1 for 1, no, however a lot of the characters were severely changed from the original which is NOT that good of an idea. They ruin the entire character development of them which is why the ORIGINAL CREATORS of the show left Netflix because of the changes they were making. Netflix simply didn't understand the character dynamics and reasoning behind why people like Avatar more than just the powers themselves. It proves they didn't actually watch the show entirely when Aang is out here flying without his glider.
@@dom4012 You do realize the original creators have stated in the past that they would retcon and do things differently if possible, right? There's an idea going around that the original creators wanted to do things vastly different and Netflix/showrunners were the ones who had to reel them back in, which is where the creative differences would've driven them apart. Quit speaking like you know what was going on in the writers room, this silly idea of professional writers not doing their due diligence and watching/reading/researching each episode of a very beloved series is so dumb. It's very clear they were carefully weaving the characters, and their motivations into the main story without breaking the pacing of every episode. The glider thing is nitpicky and you know it lmao.
@@Tylrp You typed a whole lotta nothing lil bro for me to not read even half of that. The creators stated minor differences but regardless Netflix said they wanted to cater to Game of Thrones viewers which was a terrible decision and decided that the scenes of the show/story were more important than the reasoning behind each and every character and abilities. If the creators left there has to be an issue as Netflix has ruined almost every "live action". Cope dude
@@Tylrp Also the glider isn't nitpicking at all, his avatar state is when he's able to fly. Part of the reason why he stronger in it. Tf are you yappin about?
The complaints across the board are leveled against the writing. The writing can be pretty crummy although there are bits of brilliance here and there. The actress that plays Katara is doing an okay job with the odd characterization and dialogue she was given. There is nothing in her dialogue throughout the series that make us think this is the same Katara as the animated show. The writers this time around made Katara so submissive and weak. :/
I personally really don't think the Katara actress did fine, BUT I also can't blame her. What she was given (and the direction Aang got as well) was really weak in the first place.
@@samuellevesque7997 You touched a great point about the quality of the direction messing with the actors' work. I see the direction affecting all of them, including Iroh and other secondary characters. The subpar direction and editing gives us so many awkward scenes. As for the actress who plays Katara, I have seen her in a show called Anne with an E and she was pretty outstanding there. If you wanna see the range and what that girl can do, watch the episodes of that show where she is in. It upsets me the writing stifled both the character and the actress in such a unfavorable way.
@@cherswigmakerI'm happy this is a minority opinion cuz I disagree heavily. Especially when u people judge on 1 season that was 8 episodes. Season 1 in the cartoon was not all that nor was katara
Guys.. It's an adaptation.. What do you expect?? Most of the people nowadays have short attention span and dont have the time to watch anime/live action series that are a year long..
its very strange that, they took out so many episodes, AND have a longer runtime than the original... but still cant stop the plot from feeling so incredibly rushed.
because again this isn’t animated. if EVERYTHING was put into a live adaptation it wouldn’t make sense. it’s supposed to make sense chronologically. we can’t just jump from episode to episode in an entirely different place with no context.
exactly its like they are jumping 2 ep ahead and then when what they think is going to happen doesn't get done in the Order they expect they feel disappointed. watch it first then after its over you can compare and contrast between the two but doing it during the show is just setting yourself up unhappiness.@@komang1224
Of course it’s going to be different but what do you expect? The main reason this show is being made and why it’s doing so well with how many views it’s getting is because it’s a live action remake of the original cartoon. It’s gonna be hard not to compare at all especially with fans from the original as the reason they are watching is because it’s avatar the last airbender.
@@komang1224as an og fan I kept comparing the changes they made too. It's literally natural to do that... Must we lose our memories of the og to watch it...? That's how u sound lol
I'm sorry for people who made the mistake of watching the cartoon before the LA, as it's like watching a movie after reading the book. You can't cram details into a lesser timeframe.
So I’m a huge fan of the original avatar series, and even though they did take out some things when you watch further through the season a lot of things start to make sense…. There is plenty of time to make more character development when it comes to the characters. And to be honest the original series didn’t always do the best job of explaining certain things that were in the story itself.
Careful bro you will have the Old school Purists come after you! Your absolutely right, this show is speeding things along and having knowledge of the original show is very much getting in the way of a lot of the scenes in this show where they are making it for everybody New and Old fans who don't know all the lore.
@@AlbertoMartinez765 purists can be the worse i swear, live action has given us more depth and layers to these characters that the og version didnt do.
Whoever wants a 1 to 1 should just rewatch the cartoon. This is an adaptation using the main focus points of the show. To expect minor detail to be the exact same would ruin the show to be honest. Expectations and comparisons will be all the show would be fighting to be approved for if they did an exact 1 to 1
To let you girls know the cast said in there wired interview that some of the show has similar things from the cartoon and some of it they changed with their own pizzazz
I think yall forgot some of the things tht happened in the Earlier episodes... Bcoz aang knowing the air bender "stuff" was bcoz he stole zuko note book ( you might not like tht change but it was explained)
What I noticed is that fans like them only look for what they recognize and don't consider other pov. Like criticisms are good the show is not perfect and has lots of weaknesses but if you look at it as another* atla story it's at least a good enjoyable show.
Honest opinion, 6/10. I didn’t mind some of the story changes or things going in a different order but it just felt like the characters were completely different.
Everyone is bitching about their reaction, it’s a fucking reaction for a reason. It’s their channel, they are allowed to criticize this and say how they feel. Everyone in the comment section is acting like a child, don’t like it? Then leave.
I've been watching a lot of people react to this show. I think Avatar fans might be more picky than One Piece fans with their live action. But I guess you've been burned once already by that movie haha so I understand
That's the feeling I am getting from all these video essays. Reactors have been enjoying it and then just complaining its different. Which is really nothing. Infinite money and time, I would want a literal one for one. Just to watch people still complain about the smallest differences.
Like I'm as a big a One Piece fan as they come, but I knew they would have to smoosh things together and make changes to make it fit in 8 episodes so none of that really bothered me. But Avatar fans are being negative for what seems like the same kind of thing. Like I said I get it though. If we had a movie as bad as the last Airbender I would be more protective of it too haha
Def . And way more toxic too. The level bodyshaming being aimed at the azual and mai actresses is insane online just because they don't have the pointy faces that the cartoon does. I didn't remember one piece fans hating on their actors like that .
As a major fan of the original series as well, some of the changes I wasn’t particularly keen on but after finishing it now, I see how they serve a purpose in the version they are telling. All in all, I think they did a solid job. Landed at around a 7.8/10 for me. The issues I saw can be improved upon in later seasons
One thing that I feel like people inevitably do, is compare the two shows constantly in their heads and choose which one did it better And that's only natural, it's the retelling of a beloved story, but something should always be remembered We have the whole original show inside our heads, it's very hard to analyze only this first season compared to the first book, isolated We already know all the characters traits, personalities and development throughout the whole original show, trying to apply all of that into just the first season of this show wouldn't be fair imo
Jet and the freedom fighters, Iroh and Zuko encountering the GAang, Sai and Teo, and all happening in the same location. So much confined and cut in one episode. I'm looking forward to the reaction of the next episode.
The reasoning for teo being omashu, episode one for the comet festival all the airbenders went to one location that's why ozai decided to attack with the comet and make sure they got them all. Other than going to that temple to find a yang chen statue to talk with her would be another reason I would say they're holding off on showing/going there. Also I think they're gonna save that location or at least an air temple for when zuzu finally joins and we have the sparky sparky boom man fight.
This is personally why I prefer newbies to the atla universe reacting to this for the first time cus of all the nitpicking about how something from the original wasn’t incorporated in an episode by the OG fans. If it was 1:1 adaption it’d be really corny to watch them quote the series word for word. Let the directors of the live action cook 🤦♂️
yeah too many of the people reacting are coming into this with a Ton of Baggage from the OG show and its ruining some of the surprises, for example Azula they spotted the actress right away and ruined the entire reveal, it would have been a shocking surprise if they had gone in blind.
@@AlbertoMartinez765 it is a surprise for most ppl that aren't fans of the og show. I watched the show with my cousins that never saw the og and they lost their minds at the " plot twist" that the " masked man" thag saved aang was zuko lol. I loved watching their reaction to the show
@@AlbertoMartinez765 The original show has been out since 2005, the majority of people who watch any "live action" version of a show that already exists are just fans of it. Of course it's not gonna be a surprise to anyone when they see characters they like/know, what are you talking about?
So many people are in a "honeymoon" phase because the show is new and theyre just happy for new atla content but with time only more people are going to realize how "meh" the show is.
the show's gonna suck even more if they copy it all. there are tons of things that anime won't translate well in live action. the nitpicking is too much. the show itself is well-made, entertaining, great ensemble and standalone. that's what's important. If one wants the "original" story, just go back and watch that. I personally don't wanna ever see an adaptation that's a direct copy. that makes shit meaningless.
Yeah, agreed. And you can’t expect the show to have any budget for CGI if it’s as long and drawn out as the original. It was important to dans that they got the bending right, or at the very least, better than the movie lol.
They are fans of the original as well as others, it’s fair to give criticism to the live action since the animation was so great. If they aren’t going to follow the original or at least add depth with new content then what’s the point of making a live action. They could have done a new story
I love the Avatar Netflix show as it is and not keep comparing it to the original - just like how I enjoyed and loved One Piece Netflix which is also different from the original. I think what made One Piece super successful despite differences is that its fanbase fully supported it because they know it will bring new fans into the One Piece universe. In ATLA though, fans have been so critical~
It’s funny to see people’s reactions having prior knowledge of the OG vs. someone knowing nothing. The ones who know nothing have a better watching experience than the others. It’s understandable though. The difference is literally day and night but the LA is still enjoyable to watch.
To me, it seems like Katara is being built into the character we expected from the original. As her capabilities as a fighter grows, her confidence parallels it. As far as Sokka is concerned, I’m almost certain that he actually does tell her to grow up at least once, but I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t mention that he sees Katara as motherly until he tells a certain Earthbender in order to help them better understand why Katara is the way she is. He might’ve said it to Aang too, but I don’t really remember anything like that myself. Azula is a perfectionist, but she grew up with Mei and Ty Lee, so, there’s no point in her being as high strung when she’s with them. When she writes the letter to Zhao, she puts on proper airs and etiquette while showing how manipulative and assertive she can be.
I love watching the reaction videos you girls do, but I agree with a lot of people in the comments - nothing will be as good at the Original, and that’s good! It’s its own show with someone else’s adaption. I’ve seen the whole series and enjoyed it for what it is…. A live action “adaption” not a remake. When people do reactions and then spend the majority of the video nit-picking or complaining about how something is different or not exactly like the original, it takes the enjoyment out of “sharing” the reaction because you are so focussed on what’s “wrong” and not actually enjoying it for what it is. If you love the anime so much and not open to something new just watch that instead
I finally watched episodes 2 and 3, and I remain unimpressed. My wife has been enjoying it more than me, I think, but even she was like "The heck did I just watch?" after this episode. It was like they tried to cram the plots of four or five different episodes (several of them from season two of the animated series) into one episode, plus that extended Aang vs. Zuko battle that served no narrative purpose. Weirdly, they crammed so much new stuff into this episode, they didn't even have time to include any of the original Omashu storyline. And now apparently we're getting a second episode set in Omashu, because somehow it makes sense to the writers to spend two hours of an eight-hour season in a location that was just a brief pit stop in the animated series. Narratively, this remake feels like a hot mess so far, and I can kind of see why the original Avatar creators left the project. Episode 2 was a little better, but I feel like it suffered from the changes made to Sokka's character, and also from the way this series seems laser-focused on stripping out all of the humor and charm of the original show and keeping things Super Serious. Also, you spend an hour on Kyoshi island and you can't even find time to include the Unagi? Meh.
Who's to say they didnt explore an air temple before Aang arrived? Sai delivered those plans already for the airship. They are having katara grow. She should be scared. A firebender killed her mother. She watched her burn to a crsip. In episode 2 we saw the trama of that come up in her fight against Zuko. I would say. A few items you guys are mentioning as negatives is because you are viewing this as an episodical instead of a complete story. You have to look at this series as a whole. You are comparing a show that was written as an episodical in the cartoon. Vs a show that was written for a complete story.
This was the best episode so far. I don't mind the change of putting the inventor into this ep. If he wasn't so important to the series I wouldve probably cut the episode he was in so using him somewhere else makes sense to me. Though they combined too much into one ep. Now I am not sure what theyre even going to do for the rest of the season. Some logic errors here and there due to the changes, Katara is still not Katara, but other than that no big complaints. I have to say I appreciate you watching it with an open mind but still pointing out when something isn't done well. One does not have to exclude the other. Two other reaction channels I watched react to this (who also loved the cartoon) sadly hyped all of it up and outright said "there is nothing I could even nitpick", which is obviously not true so it's sad they have to do that to appear open.
It's never too late for them to ad a flashback of aang changing his mind, while leaving the southern air temple, to actually run away (like the animated vs) out of fear, then change his mind b/c of the inclimate weather. But that once instance of him deciding to run away, out of fear, from being the avatar, would be enough to re-align that storyline to the animated series.
It doesn't really matter plot wise, in the OG story they had him "Run away" and get Frozen in the storm so that he wouldn't get killed by the fire nation, they needed a reason for him not to be at the temple during the attack. Whether he was running away or going to clear his head or buying a gallon of Milk the result is the same he gets caught in a storm and frozen. In the OG story it starts with Kitara and Sokka finding Aang already frozen in the ice.
I've personally been enjoying their reactions because theyre talking about the differences in the show compared to the animation. Which will happen with every show that has a massive following. People who were exited to watch the show are those who were huge fans of the animation. So of course they're going to compare and contrast. Personally, my biggest thing with the show ,aside from Sokka, is how Katar's character is portrayed. Love the actress, but it feels like they watered-down her personality. I know they changed Sokka's sexism, but at the same time. Katara's personality is part of what would always put him in his place and show him how wrong he is for those comments. The women in the show were always these strong figures who, overtime, changed Sokka's mindset and improved as a character. I enjoy a lot of the changes they made for the live-action for continuity sake, but when it comes to character portrayals. its hard to see them as their own person, when theyre portraying already established characters.
Love your contents but dont speak to soon or dont compare live action to the cartoons too much. Of course its gonna be differrent. Sometimes changes are good. They are still doing a good job tho.
I have to say it. My major issue with the Original Book 1 is that Roku/Dragon can just magically appear whenever he wants to tell Aang something. But is silent at other times in Book 2 & 3 when guidance is needed. They were probably trying to address my concern and have angered everyone who like seeing Roku. I never like Jeong being introduced and then not used. So they take that out and anger everyone who likes seeing Aang burn people. This is why rewriting for a "mature" audience always creates problems with the fans. Why are people mad at Aang? Uh, he was gone for 100 years and his only excuse is a time capsule because he can't control the avatar state. Now some fans don't like that because we all love are little Aangy as he is precious.
The story telling in this adaptation when compared to the original is, quite frankly, just inferior in all aspects. But, as someone who hasnt watched the original for a while, I personally still enjoyed it, and didnt have much to be critical over it until AFTER i rewatched the cartoon. So i guess their direction with this adaptation was to reach out to ppl who arent really familiar with the world of Avatar, which can definitely be disappointing for hardcore fans who just wanna re-experience their first moment of watching the show but in a different way.
I agree with you ladies. Very astute about the series. Now even if we don't compare it directly to the animation but to the show itself, the live action have a lot of inconsistencies. First, where's Appa? Why did they need to get off and hide Appa if within the city you can fly like Teo anywhere you want? Second, Why is Aang hiding from Earth benders? Wouldn't he want to present himself as the Avatar as he did on Kiyoshi Island to give them hope and get a freebie? Wouldn't he be treated like a celebrity and not a Fire Nation outlaw? I mean he got free meals from Kiyoshi Island, why sneak into Omashu? Thirdly, Why did it only take 2 Earth Benders to move those 4 several hundred ton slab gate when we saw 1 Earth Bender struggle with a 8ft wall in the opening scene? That's just the beginning not to mention storyline. The live action doesn't alot of distracting with cool VFX and Easter Eggs. New people don't know about cabbage man yet. They don't understand his charm. They edged us with "My cabbages" but new people experience it for the first time is like ??? ok so what about his cabbages. It's not the running joke if "my cabbages" is only happening once. Let's be real, why does water bending look and feel like she's tossing a bucket of water at people? It's supposed to have power like hose, no one is falling over having a glass or bucket of water tossed at them unless it's the big ass bucket in water parks that might sweep your legs. That's why the water whip is so powerful, It uses less water accelerate the water so fast it like getting shot. Normally, water bending uses pressure over small area to knock people over. The Jett Katara Sokka scene was mid but we're so starved for Katara highlights it works. It's like being a relationship with someone who reminds you of your first love and instead of getting treated the same way, they just refer to your memories with the other person and piggy bank off of it doing the minimum but pretending it was just as great. Now the live action is fun in it's own way. It's super inconsistent though even within it's own storytelling and world building rules. I don't get sadistic and cunning Azula from the way they're writing her. Why didn't we see her manipulate her friends the way we saw her in the animation? Why did we lose their introductions? In the animation, the first time we see Azula, she's coming to the "aid" of Zuko and Iroh and one of her guards leaks to "secure the prisoners." That's cold blooded af. Like no one saft, not even her family. Why isn't fire bending associated with Martial arts like it should be? How did Ozai burn the whole crew by waving his hand like it's a magic spell? If that's how strong fire bending is, why isn't everyone instantly burnt to a crisp with a simple wave of the hand? Each bending is based on Marital Arts fighting style, they're still martial arts behind the bending. Sure there's moments of simple bending like holding up fire to carry or light your way, using air to carry a small object, using earth bending to roll a dice or water to drink or wipe off yourself. However, none of those are strong enough to deal damage in the animations. All the damage dealing is done with intention and force. The first episode was so good because the earth bender sold it. He punches the ground to break a bunch of stones, lift them and with a punch fire them into the enemy soldier. As he's running he's uppercuting the air to lift pillars. He sits deep into a horse stance to lift a few hundred pounds of earth to create an 8ft wall in the street. Don't give me that, ozai burning a crowd of people and Jett blocking fire with his swords and tell me they all make sense. Something is off here. You tried cutting a pan fire, the flames just go around it. If we're staying, it's harder to burn benders than non benders, Jett should have went up in flames just as the people in the throne room did. I'm just tired of the series treating us like we're dumb. The animation didn't treat us that way, shit the animation had a bunch layers to discover the more mature you became. Wouldn't the earth benders and Boomie know an Airbender was putting out fires of an explosion that happened in their town? Why didn't Sai tell Boomie when he schedule to meet up with boomie?
Elizabeth yu as azula is good i agree, but I'm little curious why azula and the gangs they all have chubby face even katara, but it's doesn't matter at all, don't wrong i like girls with chubby face to i think is cute, but overall great season for now. well just wait season 2 well see. . 🙂😎

Jet's storyline was a bit too streamlined and the Mechanist storyline was cut in half with no northern air temple for them to vandalize
Good catch about Teo's dad having an unfamiliar name. Because Sai was only ever referred to as "The Mechanist" in the original cartoon.
You mean Abed?
Sometimes you can’t translate everything from a cartoon into live action it may not flow properly or time constraints, budget, or they just can’t make it 1 for 1. Enjoy the show for what it is & not what it ain’t.
one thing i've learned watching live-action adaptations is to just watch it as it goes and not jump into conclusions even before the whole plot of the episode is unfolded. comparing it scene by scene and complaining about tweaks every now and then just takes out the joy of watching :D
Most ordinary citizens don't know Prince Zuko's face, and even the burn scar isn't a dead giveaway; they only know his name
^Case-in-point, the villagers from "Zuko Alone"?
It's going to be 5 more episodes of, "that's not how that happened."
Yup😂
They ended up actually having 1hr less time than the total runtime of the season 1 cartoon. The concept that theyd have more time was just a guess before it came out.
Sam is extremely overly critical in this reaction. She’s complaining about things without even letting things play out.
The critiques are fair, there are reasons as to why the OG creators removed themselves from this Netflix adaptation
You guys should react and watch the Character Conversations with Dante Basco (VA Zuko) & Dallas Liu (live action Zuko) 🔥
The biggest annoyance for me is how they don't even acknowledge where Appa and Momo are in any of these episodes... It doesn't make any sense since the gang is obviously not trying to hide the fact that Aang is the Avatar.
this is something i agree with. appa and momo were also involved in the conversations. 😭😭
Love it.
Iroh sacrificed himself to prevent the city going on a police lockdown which would have locked them both in.
We don't need to be reminded of what happened in the original series every scene. We get it. It's different then the original.
literally. whats the point of 1:1 if we can watch the original instead LOL
"We get it. It's different then the original."
It's also definitely not as good or well crafted as the original as well...
Id recommended not comparing to the cartoon, it’s going to be different obv
Yea I wish they'd just let the show breath a bit, instead of comparing before the events even happening
exactly its like they are jumping 2 ep ahead and then when what they think is going to happen doesn't get done in the Order they expect they feel disappointed. watch it first then after its over you can compare and contrast between the two but doing it during the show is just setting yourself up unhappiness.@@komang1224
they should compare and contrast the show to the source material
I'm not one of those trashing the LA, BUT the anime and the netflix show basically have the same runtime.
They could have done away with like 80% of episode 5 to make room, that episode was horrid.
So I’m a huge fan of the original avatar series, and even though they did take out some things when you watch further through the season a lot of things start to make sense…. There is plenty of time to make more character development when it comes to the characters. And to be honest the original series didn’t always do the best job of explaining certain things that were in the story itself.
Agreed

Honest opinion, 6/10. I didn’t mind some of the story changes or things going in a different order but it just felt like the characters were completely different.

Just to watch people still complain about the smallest differences.
yeah, so true lol. One thing this Live Action is better than One Piece Live Action is a lot of their cast is really on point.

One thing that I feel like people inevitably do, is compare the two shows constantly in their heads and choose which one did it better
And that's only natural, it's the retelling of a beloved story, but something should always be remembered
We have the whole original show inside our heads, it's very hard to analyze only this first season compared to the first book, isolated
We already know all the characters traits, personalities and development throughout the whole original show, trying to apply all of that into just the first season of this show wouldn't be fair imo
The exposition dumping is for people new to the show. To provide an understanding of the world.
yeah too many of the people reacting are coming into this with a Ton of Baggage from the OG show and its ruining some of the surprises, for example Azula they spotted the actress right away and ruined the entire reveal, it would have been a shocking surprise if they had gone in blind.

It tuck me way to long to realize the guy in the cart was jet
the show's gonna suck even more if they copy it all. there are tons of things that anime won't translate well in live action. the nitpicking is too much. the show itself is well-made, entertaining, great ensemble and standalone. that's what's important.
@JrE-il7cf it's a new avatar show. It doesn't retcon the original. It's a reimagining. That's what adaptation means.
@JrE-il7cf they didn't fix it. They told it their way. Fixing is retconning, and that's not what's happening here.
Well you can critique a story based on already existing source material
They are fans of the original as well as others, it’s fair to give criticism to the live action since the animation was so great. If they aren’t going to follow the original or at least add depth with new content then what’s the point of making a live action. They could have done a new story
I love the Avatar Netflix show as it is and not keep comparing it to the original - just like how I enjoyed and loved One Piece Netflix which is also different from the original. I think what made One Piece super successful despite differences is that its fanbase fully supported it because they know it will bring new fans into the One Piece universe. In ATLA though, fans have been so critical~
Let them react and give their honest opinions. People want fake reactions as long as it please them.😂
wtf?
He is running away in episode 2. The conversation at about 15:20
It doesn't really matter plot wise, in the OG story they had him "Run away" and get Frozen in the storm so that he wouldn't get killed by the fire nation, they needed a reason for him not to be at the temple during the attack.
I enjoy a lot of the changes they made for the live-action for continuity sake, but when it comes to character portrayals. its hard to see them as their own person, when theyre portraying already established characters.
ozai live action is better than the og version, hes got more character and layers
Love your contents but dont speak to soon or dont compare live action to the cartoons too much. Of course its gonna be differrent. Sometimes changes are good. They are still doing a good job tho.

The girl in the middles voice is sending me 😂😂
I have to say it.
Everything would be perfect if they had more than 8 episodes.. atleast 15 episodes would be awesome

I honest think they should've combined the mechanis episode and tie it in when Aang returned to the air temple he grew up in.
Elizabeth yu as azula is good i agree, but I'm little curious why azula and the gangs they all have chubby face even katara, but it's doesn't matter at all, don't wrong i like girls with chubby face to i think is cute, but overall great season for now. well just wait season 2 well see. . 🙂😎
Shooting for season 2 will start on September 17 and continue until March, so we will get season 2 in the summer or winter of 2025.

Should taboo the phrase “in the original series” for the rest of the show.
Morgan, Soo want you to watch; Stunna Girl Pretty Privilege. I know she not rapping that part towards my crush! There’s nothing dusty about 😍Dani🥰 On King David.
Are you okay? Did you have a stroke?
Gotta separate the cartoon from this show. Two different pieces of art. I like both. Let the pessimism go and just enjoy it. It's something new
Sheeeeesh we get it, you want an exact replica of the animated series but it’s not happening lol. I hope for the next two seasons you don’t complain all the way through 😂 if all you do is compare to the cartoon you’re just setting yourself up for disappointment
I really hope y’all get to enjoy some of this show, i see some ppl capping their reactions at certain episodes😅
Please, stop comparing. It's never gonna be a 1 to 1 adaptation.
I'm a fan of the og series too and I do agree this show still pales in comparison to that one but I still reslly enjoyed this adaptation and esp loved ep 6 and the finale . I also think this show is a good way to get ppl into the og show who would've not checked it out before simply cuz it was a cartoon since this show isba good enough adaptation of the cartoon, unlike the god awful 2010 film
😊😊
get ready for the next episode
I really wonder like what year Aang's time is supposed to be since in Legend of Korra its like 1920's New york and I don't mind the changes they are doing I just wish they did it with Legend of Korra instead cause right off the bat Korra is more mature show than Last Airbender and there making more Avatar shows anway like there doing a sequel to Last airbender and Korra in the next 2 or 3 years
I don't think I've ever seen you ladies be so critical of a show,😅😆😂I like seeing it. As Azula is my favorite character from the original series, I think the actress did a decent job in portraying her, along with Mai and Ty Lee's actresses. I think the more the series progresses the more the actress will come into their role. The actor who played Jet killed the role I really enjoyed him.
Never been this early wtf!!!!
The show just gets worse and worse from here. More nonsensical changes and horrible writing. I honestly would recommend you guys drop it. Not worth reacting to.
Sam made some decent progress this reaction towards becoming insufferably petty in her criticisms.
wtf?
Nah, she didn't go hard enough. So much of this show is just wasted potential or garbage dialogue
This show is average, get used to criticism.
This is so very bad that it should be illegal...
wtf?
I get we want honest reactions but a lot of reactions weren't necessary if you had a more open mind going into this show knowing it wasn't going to a 1 to 1. Because you are honest with your reaction I want to be honest with my comment, I didn't find the constant criticism enjoyable, maybe some people do and I am in the minority. I wish you luck on your channel!
First🎉
Anime is boring so you should watch THRONE OF SEAL the animation and storyline are very good ✨🔥
Just drop this it is just as bad as the movie aside from the visual effects.
