theres a few things that arent super obvious on first or even fifth watches of this film, had they not taken the exact order of planets they did, there would have been no need for cooper to sacrifice himself into gargantua, which would break the time loop allowing this entire film to occur, people saying they should have gone to mann's planet too miss the fact that the entirety of remaining life on earth would have had to be abandoned. Its such an unbelievably good premise and script, magnificent AF. It is worth noting that a pretty high amount of information thats physics based in this film is far closer to accurate than space movies tend to convey. Time dilation is a real thing that occurs, and the faster you go, the faster time goes (relatively) to things that arent moving that speed. However, a black hole's time dilation is not caused by speed it is caused by the immense gravity and tidal forces at play in an event horizon (the point of no return, where once reached, every direction from there is always further in). The actual time dilation at play in this film is scientifically accurate to the best of our knowledge based on being only able to observe things, since we are nowhere near able to actually do interstellar travel in a real way as of yet. We don't know for absolute certainty what happens in a black hole, but we are fairly certain you cannot survive the trip through, as a black hole will sever you in half over and over and over the closer you get to the center of an event horizon, it continues to do this until you are nothing but a stream of individual atoms or molecules. Since we cant prove this, there is some level of creative change using that uncertainty to say this might be what occurs. I do think there was a minor inaccuracy with the first planet they visit, since its time dilation amount is mentioned in the film, neil degrasse tyson concluded that based upon that level of time dilation, it would have been too much, and the planet's orbit would have pulled it into the black hole.
“Because my dad promised me” and “No, it’s necessary “ always get the same reaction from people! I CAN NOT WAIT until I watch this Gem at the cinemas in 2025.
Wormholes ‘exist’ because Einstein’s equations suggest they are possible, but at the end of the day it’s just math on paper. It did lead to the discovery of black holes which were first suggested in the same equations…but the same math also suggests “white holes” and infinite universes which we are pretty confident do not and could never exist. Great reaction!
@erikw113 All the strongest evidence suggests the universe is finite. I doubt many scientists believe infinite universes exist, they won't rule it out of course because it is still a theoretical possibility.
The line "because my Dad promised me" cuts straight to the core of a reactors relationship with their own Father. So many hidden stories appear on their face at that point and she was certainly no exception
That huge, circular space station he woke up on at the end is shaped that way because it spins, creating artificial gravity. In that era, humans apparently grow up and live in space, so they need huge structures with hospitals, baseball diamonds, and residential neighborhoods! And it all happened in a few decades after his daughter unlocked the mysteries of what happens inside a black hole (with his help). Very cool stuff.
47:05 What I love about this scene is that Brand said earlier that love is the one thing we perceive that transcends space and time. Coop loves Brand so he's able to reach her through space and time to touch her.

The structures they are in are called Dyson Spheres which is a theoretical but promising design for a habitat for living in outer space. Its curved in a circle and rotates to generate gravity.
23:25 the ticking sound you hear is a tick every 1.25 seconds. As they said 1 hr here is 7 years on earth, which corresponds to 1.25 seconds on this planet is 1 day back on earth. So every tick you hear, one whole day is passing on earth simultaneously And the "waves" are basically tides, the same as here on earth caused by the gravitational pull of the sun and moon. The only difference is those enormous tides are caused by the black hole which has a million times more pull force than the sun.
Yes, it's a stunning movie. The ideas in this, the mind numbing reality of relativity, mixed somehow, with the most intimate personal human emotions...and the acting and directing
41:05 “what a fearless man” I liked that you said this because I think it’s the opposite, it’s the fact that he has so much fear of losing his family, his livelihood, his everything that he’s willing to risk anything to try and save them.
Did you notice the other robot called Kipp, the moment he was restarted/rebooted he said "please don't make me..." right before exploding. like if that was what he was saying before he was shut down... intriguing
Fun fact, time slows down the moment you start moving, very little but very real thing. the closer you get to the speed of light, the slower the passage of time.
Great reaction. This is one of my favourite movies of all time and I never get tired of rewatching it and watching it with others who haven’t seen it. I even made a song based on the ending of this movie where Coop travels through the wormhole.
Based on known physics (E=mc^2), this scene plays like the crew is near a black hole (with a huge gravitational pull) which reduces the crew's biological clock many fold in relation to Earth's, and the latter's gravitational pull isn't even close to the gravitational pull's magnitude that they're in. The same is true for the astronauts going into the planet nearest to the black hole, their clock runs slower in regards to the stationary station that hey left in orbit, which runs faster to them, but many times slower to Earth's.
49:35 - THIS is a really nice moment here Nova, exactly what it should be yet, it always can peak a little better, a little different depending on the reactor viewing it and you brought it uniquely very well there.
This is great timing watching this amazing movie. It's anniversary is getting a rerelease in IMAX theaters across the US in December. Please go see it on the biggest IMAX screen in your area. EDIT: you mentioned being in NY I'm extra jealous now because you have one of the biggest IMAX screens in the country there if I remember correctly.
Glad you enjoyed this movie. I love stuff that makes you think or question things. Had been awhile since I'd seen it and you getting emotional is contagious cuz then I was again lol I'm looking forward to you watching Inception. I've seen it a few times, it's a great movie. Plus it has Leonardo Dicaprio and Elliot Page. Two of my favorite actors.
18:52 Quick answer to why the wormhole is a sphere and the path between them is 4 Dimensional (as they said they are travelling beyond 3 dimension; therefore, they have no spaceship controls). When you look at romilly's explanation, it's on a sheet of paper. He folds it, then punctures it through the middle forming a tunnel between the two holes created. Now if you consider the sheet of paper to be a 2d space, the wormhole created in a 2d space is also 2d, which is the punctured circular hole, and the space between them is a cylindrical tunnel, which is 3 dimensional space, which is the next higher dimension to the 2d space of the paper. Now for us, we live in a 3d space(that is 1 dimension higher than his paper explanation); so the wormhole created is also 3d, which is a spherical hole, and the path between the two spherical holes should be of the next higher dimension, that is 4d. So basically we, in our real world, jump +1 dimension than the paper explanation.
Stellar video, Nova. I think this is your best one yet. Your awe, curiosity and raw emotion add so much depth to the video. Thank you for all your hard work you put into this.
In an episode of Cosmos, Carl Sagan walks down a library hall, stops, says something like 'This is all the books you will read in your life.' and your looking up at the sky, I relate.
2:59 They can drive decently fine **in theory** because its a Dually or 'dual axle' truck (Dually is the correct term but both are used commonly) and the reason is that duallys have 2 different wheels/tires bolted together at the rim on both sides of the rear axle so essentially you could have 1 blow on either side of the rear axle and just keep going in an emergency since you'd still have one tire on either side of the rear and front aka same as normal cars have but in reality you'd most likely destroy your truck because the blown out tires would start going absolutely ham AND cheese on your rear end ripping it apart the faster you went... Butt its extra wide back end isn't just there for show, its because they're pretty much always designed or rather dually trucks are pretty much always made specifically to carry heavier loads in the bed and tow heavier trailers/loads hence the 4 rear tires and usually better powertrain, suspension, etc.
So your channel randomly popped up as a suggestion, and your reaction and thoughts are really awesome! You’re measured and thoughtful and this movie almost always hits me in the feels, because you never want to miss time with those you love. But your insights as the movie goes are very sharp! And I think you’ll love Inception, so if you watch that I’d love to see your reaction to it.
Great reaction. Honest reactions are better than trying to oversell or emphasize. We really enjoy watching you let it happen and glad to hear your thoughts about it. Your audio clarity is great. Glad you are listening with both ears. Some reactors only use one and they miss some of the details that way. Looks like your watching on a normal screen instead of small laptop or, worse, tablet. Again, more details equals better experience. Look forward to more.
Thank you! I genuinely do love movies and feel that every scene, every line, is intentional and deserves attention. I also don’t believe in faking a reaction. If I don’t like the movie, you’ll know and it will still get uploaded lol. Yay movies!
10:30 "so the whole world is runing out of food?" in this movie yes, but if I remember correctly its because there is factually a very special chemical relationship between the plants and fungi of our world, and the atmosphere, which was destroyed by climate change in this film to a point of no return. There is no longer a consistent cycle for nutrients to return to the soil. Right now in real life corn and potatoes are the most produced vegetable in the western world at large because they require very basic nutrients that can be artificially added rather than relying on a diverse ecosystem to supplement the soil nutrients and health. This actually makes Interstellar more terrifying for me as a bioengineer because all of my research I've had to do shows that we are going in this direction, and the death of our planet's soil is so invisible, and hard to make aware to the public, and consequently why desertification is happening right now so rapidly.
Great reaction to my favorite movie! If you like this one, you might like “Arrival”. Another favorite, and great to react to. Also i love that youre casually reacting using an $800 Neumann handheld microphone😂
NOVA!!!! You did that!!! it brought me so much joy watching your reaction to one of my top 3 movies of all time. I appreciate you so much for putting so much time & dedication with this. Only up from here, Can’t wait to see what’s next!!
Great reaction Nova! You mentioned that you don't like more typical SciFi but you liked this. For all the same reasons I think you'll also really love Contact (1997). Like Interstellar it takes science and realism very seriously, except for the few things they choose to "assume" to make it fictional. It gets into the issue of whether there might be other life out there, which is one of your childhood dreams to think about. The similarities run deeper: it co-stars Matthew McConaughey (Cooper from Interstellar), features a strong intelligent female lead character, and pivots emotionally around a powerful father daughter relationship. Even though it's 1997 it holds up quite well.
YO, you're back! Awesome, hair looks great 😁, I have this movie I have not watched it yet, I have other reactors that have watched it, so seems like I need to now!
its being rereleased in theatres in IMAX this november or december for its 10th year since release! keep a look out at your local theatres for showtimes. What a phenomenal piece of cinema!
Cold in space: The vacuum cannot transfer heat so with a star (sun) warming up a body (the ship) the problem usually is to get heat out of the craft rather than warming it up. With that said, if you don't have a star warming you, like the other side of a craft that's shielded from the sun; that side is absolutely freezing. A wormhole of that size is, within the concepts of physics we have at the moment, in need of so much energy that it would consume our entire solar system for just a brief moment of stability. So, whomever placed it there would require some technology that we don't yet comprehend and that do not use energy like that. Relativity: Our GPS systems actually work because we have set their clocks different on them compared to ours here on earth. Otherwise, the time dilation would cascade to the wrong coordinates in measurement. But the dilation we see in this movie is stretched a bit beyond what is possible, mostly because the planet so close to the black hole would be elongated due to the gravity, otherwise that level of dilation wouldn't really be possible. But it is correct, which is cool. Inside the black hole: While the film goes into pure fiction there, there is one thing that's cool about how they thought about the library as physically moving through time. In a black hole, time and space flips, so movements through space becomes essentially moving through time rather than position. (simplified, but still). And yes, you should watch Inception.
My all time favorite movie...I went into it thinking it'd just be a cool sci-fi movie aaand it was so so SO much more. The whole time and relativity thing made me do a deep dive in space-time and relativity thing and it's such a mind-blowing concept lol so glad you enjoyed the movie! Easiest sub ever 🤘 You're gonna love Inception btw lol

Yes, it's a stunning movie. The ideas in this, the mind numbing reality of relativity, mixed somehow, with the most intimate personal human emotions...and the acting and directing
What a great reaction! Honest, thoughtful and of course emotional when it comes to Interstellar. Subscribed!
41:05 “what a fearless man” I liked that you said this because I think it’s the opposite, it’s the fact that he has so much fear of losing his family, his livelihood, his everything that he’s willing to risk anything to try and save them.
Did you notice the other robot called Kipp, the moment he was restarted/rebooted he said "please don't make me..." right before exploding. like if that was what he was saying before he was shut down... intriguing
Ooo I did notice that! I didn’t realize what was happening wow thank you for pointing that out
If I had the opportunity to go to space and there wasn't a 100% chance I'd come back safely I'd still go in a heartbeat.
49:35 - THIS is a really nice moment here Nova, exactly what it should be yet, it always can peak a little better,
a little different depending on the reactor viewing it and you brought it uniquely very well there.
This is great timing watching this amazing movie. It's anniversary is getting a rerelease in IMAX theaters across the US in December. Please go see it on the biggest IMAX screen in your area.
EDIT: you mentioned being in NY I'm extra jealous now because you have one of the biggest IMAX screens in the country there if I remember correctly.
the during credits recital of Dylan Thomas by the cast was incredible
Experiencing is the best way to put “watching” this movie
"Because my dad promised me" has been wrecking people's emotions for over a decade. Bravo Nolan
Glad you enjoyed this movie. I love stuff that makes you think or question things.
Had been awhile since I'd seen it and you getting emotional is contagious cuz then I was again lol
I'm looking forward to you watching Inception. I've seen it a few times, it's a great movie. Plus it has Leonardo Dicaprio and Elliot Page. Two of my favorite actors.
When he says “When I come back we might be the same age 😊”…I don’t think anyone has ever watched that part and not responded exactly how you did, 😂.
Great video! This is one of my favorite movies. Glad you enjoyed it too.
My favorite movie and one of my favorite content creators. W Combo and W reaction Nova!!!
So it's exactly as romilly already explained 🙄
Stellar video, Nova. I think this is your best one yet. Your awe, curiosity and raw emotion add so much depth to the video. Thank you for all your hard work you put into this.
I must have watched this 10+ times and I always get emotional. Classic! Lovely reaction!
Seeing the docking scene 40:16 in theaters was amazing. Everyone in the theater was leaning forward and locked in. Absolutely loved it.
I LOVED your watching reactions! Thank you for sharing your first viewing with us and may the movie review Force be with you!
In an episode of Cosmos, Carl Sagan walks down a library hall, stops, says something like 'This is all the books you will read in your life.' and your looking up at the sky, I relate.
I see an interstellar reaction and the channels name happens to be the same as one of my favorite albums (coincidently..?) instant subscription!
Butt its extra wide back end isn't just there for show, its because they're pretty much always designed or rather dually trucks are pretty much always made specifically to carry heavier loads in the bed and tow heavier trailers/loads hence the 4 rear tires and usually better powertrain, suspension, etc.
not bad idea to watch some video that explains plot in entierty ... rly insightful and makes u appriciate movie more
great reaction!!!
Excellent Reaction Nova! Loved every minute of it. The edits were on point. Great job. Such a great movie.
You should see the Save Soil Movement if you haven't already! I find it to be a huge step in the right direction
Love your reaction! Fantastic. Pausing to look stuff up was great.
damn, imma have to really sit down and watch this movie when i get the chance. your reactions had me going through an emotional rollercoaster 😭
Great reaction to my favorite movie! If you like this one, you might like “Arrival”. Another favorite, and great to react to. Also i love that youre casually reacting using an $800 Neumann handheld microphone😂
Im a full time content creator! Gotta invest in my work haha
@@bossvnova haha love it! Great choice 👍🏻 Neumanns are incredible
Yessss I was about to comment and suggest Arrival (2016) too, a great film 🙌
Great reaction, it really embodied why this movie is so loved. Keep up the good work!
thank you so much!
W REACTION this is my favorite movie stayed up till 2:30am watching your reaction ❤
The science advisor for this movie (Kip Thorne) wrote a book called The Science of Interstellar. Pretty fun read.
NOVA!!!! You did that!!! it brought me so much joy watching your reaction to one of my top 3 movies of all time. I appreciate you so much for putting so much time & dedication with this. Only up from here, Can’t wait to see what’s next!!
Kobe! Thanks for watching ahhhh!
Meet your grandson, Jessie.
1 minute later.
Grandpa died. We buried him in the back 40… with Jessie.
I Just Subscribed! Love the reactions keep em coming!
Oh yeah you'd love inception! Love your personality, looking forward to watching more movies with you
You should react to Martian...you might like it too
Beautiful, genuine reaction. Thank you 🙏
I see you are new at this! Great reaction! With the holidays coming try It’s A Wonderful Life (1946) for Christmas. Good luck on your new channel!
Oh my goodness!!! i love watch this with you!!! So much love in there!!!!!
And yes, you should watch Inception.
yayyyy loved your reaction!
I love your reaction, and I see that you are starting. I wish you good luck. Greetings from Guadalajara, Mexico
Hello hello! (:
My all time favorite movie...I went into it thinking it'd just be a cool sci-fi movie aaand it was so so SO much more. The whole time and relativity thing made me do a deep dive in space-time and relativity thing and it's such a mind-blowing concept lol so glad you enjoyed the movie! Easiest sub ever 🤘
You're gonna love Inception btw lol
I recommend 2010: The Year We Make Contact, 1984, by P. Hyams, A. Clarke, P. , possibly after (a few months later from) watching 2001: A Space Odyssey, 1968, by S. Kubrick, A. Clarke.
You only have 2 videos on your channel and your already amongst my top movie reactors looking forward to your future videos
Yippee! Welcome (:
