  • Today, I'm reviewing the lightest ResMed mask ever made-the ResMed AirFit N30 Nasal CPAP Mask! It weighs only 1.6 ounces and is very similar in design to the AirFit P10. They both use similar headgear, and they both use a short tube to allow for added flexibility. The under-the-nose nasal cushion is a huge benefit, as it won't cover the bridge of the nose and won't block your view. It's also the main difference between this mask and the AirFit P10.
It's also one of the quietest masks on the market today, checking in at 18 decibels, which is softer than whisper-quiet. When paired with a quiet CPAP or APAP machine, you'll find it's not going to create the disturbances you may be used to with your old mask. It ships with the redesigned QuietAir frame, further reducing the noise from the mask.
IMPORTANT TIP: Don't confuse the ResMed N30 with the ResMed N30i. These are two different designs. The N30 is similar to the P10 while the N30i is closer to the DreamWear in terms of design. You can read our ResMed n30i review here: www.cpap.com/blog/resmed-airf...

I love this mask!! Was just diagnosed in August 2021 as having mild sleep apnea and this is the most comfortable mask to me

The headgear (only the elastic band with adjustment clip) for the N30 fits perfectly on the P10, and is an upgrade for the P10. Personally, I can't use the P10, but the N30 is perfect. A lot less leakage than the P10...used to be awakened by leaks from the P10 way too often, doesn't happen with the N30. Very glad to have found a minimal mask that I can actually use.

Is the new AirFit N30 better than the N30i? I tried the P10 and it was horrible for me, because the headgear was way too small for my "big" head, pressing the mask way too hard into my nose. Is the N30 a bit better in this, I saw it has a "bit" of adjustment possible on the headgear? Would it be maybe an option to get the N30 headgear and put it on a P10? The P10 headgear was always too small for me, and it never "stretched out" and always stayed too strong. Any idea where to get the band from for a low price?

The P10 literally cant leak from design reasons, it is kinda the best sealing mask you can get.

@@bestonyoutube Yes, the N30 headgear fits on the P10. About the only adjustment that the P10 has as it was designed is the distance between the straps that go across the head. The farther apart the are, the looser the P10 is. The closer together they are, the tighter the mask is. The clip ("buckle") on the N30 headgear adds another degree of adjustment that I've found helpful. You can get the N30 headgear from cpap.com...don't know if they're the cheapest, but you can buy them there.

Received my new AirFit N30 a few days ago. I was using a nasal mask for years. Never really happy with it because it never sealed well. Anyway, I have slept with this N30 device 3 nights and can say that it is by far the best CPAP mask I've used to date. It is very light weight, the straps are comfortable and easy to adjust. My only issue is so far is a small leak that squeaks under my nose.... drives me insane, but I like the N30 mask so well that I am going to have to find a work around to make it work. ResMed has a real winner in this product.

Maybe a liner of some sort would help seal your leak? Don't know if padacheek.com has liners for the N30, but they have a lot. And if you communicate with that web site's owner, they will make something for you. They used to do that, anyways, don't know if they still do.

I have both masks. The headgear straps are completely interchangeable Which is great. I prefer the p10 mask over the n30 mask but, use the adjustable n30 strap on the p10 mask.
    Side note.
Ive used this for a bit now.
    I've kept n30 strap
    Gone back to p10 mask
    N30, hissing, hot, wet nose.
Very comfy but have decided to stick with my p10.
I'll likely swap back and forth, but p10 mask seems to be best for me.
Happy about being able to use strap though. No more clips.

I actually find this much louder than my P10. When my CPAP machine kicks into it's high gear it's audibly noticeable. The P10 is much quieter to me. I also notice it uses quite a lot more water than my P10 in that I have to fill it every night as it goes from the max line to the lowest line. It is however more comfortable than the nasal pillows and having an adjustable strap is also great.

I feel like the n30 is loud if pressures are above 10 once I get up to 13 psi the vent is so loud it's like a strong whoosh. I also have to tighten it down super tight to not move or leak

Today is my first night ever with a machine and headgear. So far I like this mask except the strap kept sliding up the back of my head and the nasal part was pushing my nose upward and made it sore. I only got 3 1/2 hours in. Doing some research and seeing if I can improve the strap and the nose being pushed upward before I decide on a different model.

The N30 has the most confortable and quiet cushion, followed by the F30. I use it with a ResMed chin support. However, I found the headgear BASIC and THIN and the one-side clasp very irritating on your scalp when sleeping on that side (right). I think they should have used Velcro and a thicker elastic band. I will have to find a solution for the clasp irritation, otherwise I’ll go back to the F30. Pity. Hope this helps.

My 28 yo son uses the N30i but has developed an allergic reaction to the material. His skin breaks out with each pore developing a pimple/ small white head. Even with daily disinfecting of the mask and clean of his nose. He gets the same reaction on the bridge of his nose if wearing a mask that covers the nose. Also the N30i has a firm ridge of rubber across the tip if his nose that causes pressure sores and skin break down. ?

    • @screamtoasigh9984

The n30i.doesn't have a short tube at all. This has a short hose that you attach to the main tubing. So it's longer than the setup you have.

For me, the N30i didn't work. The N30 is smaller and lighter, quieter, and leaks less. Also, don't know if you're aware of this, but if you buy from cpap.com you have 30-day return insurance for free (on this mask). So if it doesn't work for you, you can return it and they refund your purchase price back to your credit card.

@@rogervortman9317 I am from Germany so I am just watching the videos in the hope to get a better mask. I tried the P10 ... it was way too tight and my nose started to hurt after 10 minutes, the inner part becoming itchy and painful after 20 minutes. I tried the middle and the large cushion. Ironically, the middle was a bit too small and the large a bit too large, both not really fitting good and hurting. Then I asked Resmed for a 2nd mask. They gave me the N30i... which was even worse. It was way too small for me. Even I tried the standard size, still too small. I have a very big and wide head unfortunately :/ I am kinda feeling hopeless right now. And after seeing this one, the new N30, maybe it would be a try?

    • @rogervortman9317

@@bestonyoutube Well, all I can say is that the N30 is the only mask that's working for me at the moment. At least partly due to my assymetrical nostrils. Had some nose surgery recently, and nasal pillow masks no longer work for me after 8 years of successfully using them. The N30 surrounds my nostrils, so it doesn't depend on them being the same size, and creates a good seal. If you have a way of trying it and returning it if it doesn't work for you, like with your "DME" or a web site that provides return insurance, I'd say go for it as soon as you can. If you don't, what you're saying indicates that it would be worth a try for you. Sounds like you're at the end of your rope, and this one has a good chance of working for you. Good luck whichever way you go!
I have a similar problem as well. I'm right on the cusp between Medium and Small in cpap mask cushions. For the N30, Medium was the right size for me, even though the sizing chart indicated that I should get a Small. Another mask that might work for you is the ResMed Swift FX. It's a nasal pillow mask like the P10, but the headgear is much more adjustable. I used that one for several years. The downside of it is that it doesn't have diffused venting, but it's very adjustable, I'm sure that it would fit you. Even though the P10 didn't work for me, the Swift FX did.

@@rogervortman9317 I got a N30 a few days ago. It is much better than the N30i and also P10 but... it also creates a pain after 20-60 minutes wearing it. I first tried the middle size, it was 100% leaking and I couldnt get a leak free seal. I then tried the small one, no leak, and it feels "soft" at first. But then every 10th minute or so, it adds up a bit of a pain I have no idea where it comes from. And I cant fall asleep with it too. I lay in bed for 3 hours and then just remove it and fall asleep within 5 minutes. I am so desperate right now... I want this to work, but I dont know how or what I should do now anymore. It also blocks my path of breathing in more over time. I kinda have the feeling, that, again, the small one is too small, and the middle one, is too large for my nose. When using the test schablone my nose is literally 100% on the line of small/middle. So it fills the small curve 100% on its edge.

@@rogervortman9317 Hello. Hope you read this. I just cant get the N30 to work and I feel so hopeless right now... it starts to hurt after a while especially on the "inside" middle area, and this weird "pin" in the middle seems to create an itch because of the air flow or pressure. Might I ask if you use a ClimateLine tube aka a heated tube with your mask? I dont have one and think of maybe it could help falling asleep if it is heated? Maybe it is the "cold" air flow which creates this pain over time. My room temperature is around 19-20°C not sure if that is too cold.

If you are using a face mask or full face mask, this could be the issue. Once I changed to nostril pillows, it's been great. Takes a couple weeks to get used to, but much better. I have a lot of nostril hair also, and using a small battery operated nostril trimmer has made the seal even better....rarely any leaks.
