Just got the N30i in May 2023. They have updated the cushion. Other than the very clip part where it inserts, it is Almost all soft material now. It’s awesome. Love your videos. Always very thorough. Thanks you.

Hey Jason! We just wanted to reach out about the two vent holes you mentioned in the AirFit N30i and the reason why those are there.
So essentially, delivering optimal therapy and breathing comfort are the main challenges for the tube up style mask. As the air enters the mask at the top of the head, it encounters the first vent at the elbow. Enabling a small amount of vented flow at the elbow provides the best pressure performance at the nose and also provides the most comfortable breathing for patients. Flow restriction occurs when delivering positive pressure through the two restricted side frames in to the cushion.
The N30i design team has focused on refining the internal air path design in order to achieve an optimum therapy and breathing comfort. Extensive CFD simulation were carried out to improve the air path lamina flow and reduce choke point that causes turbulence and back pressure, inclusive of adding dual venting. With this optimized air path design, N30i users will receive the most comfortable therapy and breathing experience. Thanks for the review and your videos! We hear you and we'll keep watching.

Hey ResMed why is the top of the frame stretchier than the full face version F30i. The F30i frame fits better and doesn't pull hair.

@ResMedAmericas -- thank you for monitoring UA-cam video posts from us ResMed product users. After using the N30i mask for nearly three years, I was happy and I was getting good therapy while able to manage leaks. Then ResMed changed the cushion to a squishy thing with a removable sound-muffler that holds foul odors after only 12-14 nights of use, thus requiring extra effort to clean.
After 13 months of trying to keep this new N30i cushion from leaking like crazy, I gave up and went to another brand of mask. The change in the N30i nasal cushion was definitely not an improvement for me --- it made the N30i unusable for me. I am now able to again benefit from CPAP therapy as I have a mask that doesn't leak at over 30 L/min no matter what I do.

How long did it take you to get use to it? I'm thinking nasal pillows would be better for me. I started out with a full mask and switched to this one. Now since I've already switched and it's been over thirty days I have to wait until August to try something else. 😣

Well, you're lucky. I always feel like I"m suffocating or under water and the bits of this made my face turn red and swell up where ever the mask or nasal pillow touched me. It too two weeks of antibiotics to get the red and swelling to go away.

After having a hard time with the hybrid full face I used for years (They put marks on my face and I could never get a really good seal with it) I found this one and I freaking love it. The nasal pillows didn't work because they irritated my nose too much but this one is just right and so easy to put on!! I'm pretty okay with not letting my mouth open at night but sometimes I get a bit dry mouth so I have to work on that. Maybe even get a chin strap. But still the best mask ever.

Thanks for the video! Just sharing my experience in case it can help others. Been using the N20 previously and assumed the N30i worked off the same settings. Had a few problems initially as I had the setting to ‘nasal’ and used the heated tube. The heated tube was heavy and tended to press the top of my head every time I turned. The air also tended to leak more. Changing the settings to ‘pillow’ and using the slim line tube makes a BIG difference. Also added a small washcloth at the top of my head to prevent the silicone tube from pulling my hair. It also helps cushion the top of my head from the tube. Anyway, hope this advise might help someone!

Thank you so much for this video. I have been struggling for years with my dreamwear nasal mask because it slides off my head and so I'm readjusting it through the night. I have never even seen a sizing tool like the one you showed and have asked for something like it through Apria to figure out a comfortable mask. I finally (during COVID 19) was able to see a sleep therapist at Apria who still did not measure me but suggested this Airfit mask and had a sample at the office. it looked great and I tried it on and loved the accordion. Now after watching this I am wondering about the hard plastic because i sleep on my side. I never thought to google search the model number before and that is how I found you. Your coverage of the pros and cons and how to size my mask was great though I'm angry that no one ever told me about doing so before. A million thank yous to your expertise!

      A. There is a small headgear B. There is no hard plastic. I'm not sure if it's updated or what but it all feels like soft neoprene and squishy silicone. I don't like the mask but that's because the cushions imho are not good for women with small nostrils, but the small headgear is great. The standard headgear is medium, you have to specify small headgear.

Haha I'm wearing this right now while watching your vid. I wish you had made this video before i bought this two weeks ago. I have to agree with it pushing your nostrils in. I've used the Resmed Swift Fx and loved it for a long time. Thought I'd try something new cause it started leaking. Thought I'd try this out being its Resmed andnlets just say I'm not too thrilled about it. I had to up my pressure from 10 to almost 12 just to get the same air I got from the Swift fx on 10. My next check I'm goin back to the Swift Fx

I began to use this mask after using the Dreamwear version. I really liked it until I purchased a Resmed Airmini with the N20 mask package. Despite the hose in front (I prefer it at the top) I found I got better air delivery and a better fit, especially on my side. With the N30i, the cushion tends to move on me part way through the night and I wake up to an air whistle. I think I will permanently be switching to the N20.

Got my first CPAP ever 5 days ago. My wife has used one for years. This was her favorite mask, so I asked for it with my first order. As far as comfort goes, I love it. I have a REALLY BIG HEAD (hat size is XXL or 8 1/4) and I am a side sleeper. I don't feel the hard plastic like TheLankyLefty27 describes in the video. I do understand what he means by the suffocating feeling. I have experienced that a couple of times my first 5 nights, but to fix it I slightly move the nasal piece to open the holes properly, and all is good. Now, granted, I'm still in the early phase of just trying to get used to sleeping with a mask my face with air blowing up my nose. So maybe once I get past that, I'll have a different opinion and focus more on those other things. I don't think so, but it is a possibility since I'm so hyperfocused on just getting used to the mask and airflow right now. But I love this mask! Oh, and I LOVE having the tube enter at the top. It keeps the connecting tube from getting in my way. I toss from side-to-side all night long anyway due to a bad lower back. Having that tube above and out of the way is very nice. I can easily envision me tying myself into a knot if I had a tube coming out the front. Anyway, love this mask so far.

  • @JadeCanada237
    @JadeCanada237 4 роки тому

I ordered this when it first came out after finding a full face mask to feel suffocating. I was able to actually lower my pressure by 1 because it felt like I was getting more air with this. My "trick" when I put it on is to pull open both sides of the nasal mask so it conforms to my nose better. I am also a side sleeper and while it does shift a bit, I find just putting my hand/finger to prop it up helps to stop it shifting. It's not perfect but it feels so much less confining. The downside for me is the material on the straps is not comfortable and I do wake up with marks on my cheeks despite it being there.

Very helpful thanks. Iam guessing the reason for the 2 air holes (front & top) is if you bury your nose in pillow and block the exhale vent with your pillow the air can escape through top vent?

I was initially given the Dreamwear Nasal Pillows mask. I hated it from day one. Between getting my doctor to rewrote the script to get mask fit and waiting for the DME to have the time to come back to me, it took literally 4 weeks. I tried on about 7 different masks and ended up choosing this one. After just one night, I can say that this is better. The Dreamwear pillows irritated my nostrils and the Dreamwear cushion irritated the underside of my nose. This is made with softer silicone and simply feels better. The nurse who brought me the CPAP supplies said that ResMed took all the complaints of the Dreamwear and then made this mask. Seem like ResMed got it right.

Liked & subscribed. Hey Lefty. I'm a new papper, still in my first full week of using the equipment. Your channel is great; much appreciated! The tech that set me up with my equipment gave me the N30i, and I'm finding that it definitely gets pushed around while I'm sleeping on my side, causing me all kinds of different nostril restrictions. Combine that with the sensation of reduced air flow when one side of the delivery tubing get shut off when I'm laying on my side, and I'm lookig for something more comfortable. I've checked out your video on the Resmed nasal mask, and it looks promising. Thanks for your everything you do and I'll be checking out the rest of your videos!

Thank you Jason for this very useful review. I always enjoy watching your videos. I started CPAP therapy only just two months ago and haven’t found the right mask yet. The ResMed Mirage FX suited me best so far, but caused a sore spot right underneath my nose. The AirFit P10 was just too painful on my mucous membranes. I currently use the Quattro Air, but can’t find a good fit (M is too small and L is too large). Thankfully my home care services here in The Netherlands are excellent and I’ll have another representative visiting after the weekend to try out some more options. I’ve asked them to bring along the N30i as well, since it appealed to me. I’m eager to try it out, but I’ll make sure to pay extra attention to the disadvantages you mentioned.

Thanks for the review. I have this mask and can’t say that the hard plastic bothers me at all. Actually when I lie on my stomach it stops the silicon from collapsing. I do feel the air holes are a bit small and I definitely need the strap across the back to keep things in place. Only problem is that it moves around on the back of my head, as my skull is not flat at the back, and it’s slips up and gets loose.

Hello Jason, Nice video. I believe the (i) is for the type of mask that has the tubing connector at the top of the mask rather than at the nose area. I was diagnosed with having sleep apnea. my doctor prescribed me with the mask and machine. he started me with the full face mask. Just recently I decided to change the mask for a nasal mask. after I had been with the full face mask for about a year and a half but it started to feel uncomfortable. so I decided to order the nasal mask and try it out to see if I like it better. I have the resmed autosense 10 machine. I have asked my doctor to change my air pressure to a bit higher. I'm too used to the air pressure settings I had before. After viewing the types of masks out there I chose and ordered the resmed airfit N30.I am going to try it out andif I don't like it for some reason, then I will change it for the N30i.

Hey Jason, I think, I, for the first time do NOT agree with you :)
I have used Philips Dreamware Nasal Pillows and used "eye blowing leak" problem during the sleep. Then I had to purchase "gel pillow" to attach Dreamware and I started to use it as a daily basis. But then I decided to give a shot to ResMed AirFit N30i and I loved, loved it, loved it and loved it. It's amazing, it really covers the nose very well and I had never issued leaking problem during the night. Also, my wife confirmed N30i is very silent compared to Dreamware Nasal or Gel Pillows as well (but you had confirmed it already). Anyway, I really recommend people to give a chance to this mask.

Jason, thank you for your review. I am a Sleep Lab Tech. I use the Airfit N30i at 14cm. I prefer this over the Dreamwear, only because of a bit of leakage at that pressure. I also found that the measuring guide provided was not accurate. I have a flatter face, so the hard plastic on the AirFit cradle wasn't an issue.

Jason, I think the size small cushion might work better for you. At least that is what I found. I technically measure for a medium, but the small is MUCH better for me. I don't have any issues at all with the plastic part of the cushion when I use the small cushion. I did have some challenges getting used to this mask, but that is typical for me. It seems to always take several weeks of a love/hate relationship with a new mask before I can figure out if it is a good choice or not. Now, the N30i is my main mask. My AHI is always under 2 and I typically sleep around 7 hours without waking up.
For me, the N30i is MUCH more stable than the DreamWear. I always thought the DreamWear 'wiggled' too much - maybe because of my long hair. And the N30i it doesn't 'encourage' wrinkles on my face like my prior favorite, the N20. So for me, the N30i is a winner.

ResMed has brought out a new version of the nasal cushion for this mask. No hard plastic, and diffuse venting...puts it above the Dreamwear in my estimation. The only thing that I thoroughly dislike about the Dreamwear is the stream of air from the vent hole in the nasal cushion. Unfortunately it isn't yet available in the US, but coming! Watch for it!

I used an "Optilife Nasal Pillow and Cradle Cushion" for many years, and recently, I was forced to start using an "Airfit p30i". My comment is, before, with my old mask, it was easy to clean, but with the Airfit p30i, it almost impossible to clean inside the headgear. Luckily I can afford a "Soclean" otherwise, I'm not sure about cleaning this new mask.

The Dreamwear's frame was too small for me, this one, because of the accordion, fits well. The nasal pillows do not, basically for the reasons Jason mentioned. Since the pillows from the N30i and the P30i are interchangeable, I will order the pillows from the P30i when I get an answer from Resmed as to the size naming issue. The N30i does not have a Large but the P30i does so, I have to assume that the Large from the P30i will be the same as the Large from the P10. Although cheapcpapsupplies asks for province and country, you can't order from Canada...

@@kirkdecker6228 Resmed told me that the Pillows were "about" the same size on the P30 and P10 so I ordered the Large and have been using it for a few days. The noise level is slightly less on the P30 than the P10. The nasal inserts seem to be softer and therefore do not hurt my nose, the P10 when brand new always did because the elastic is tighter but the P30 has adjustment. the P30 is bulkier but still very comfortable and you forget it is there. I still think the only thing missing to the P10 is an adjustable headband. Also with the P30, you can take a sip of water during the night without making a mess, quite difficult with the P10. The P30 also lets the air out at both ends which means you don't have a jet of air shooting at your pillow or worse, at your partner. Lastly, I am a side sleeper and have and no problem on either side. Hope this helps

New to cpap therapy and having a hard time finding a mask. Anyway did u know this mask was upgraded and they got rid of the hard plastic. I just got one but since I’m a side sleeper as soon as I lay down it seems to push the pillow into the side of my nose and close my nostril and then I leak air out of the other. I don’t know what to do. Thinking of trying the dreamwear but not sure if it will matter. I was given the small only otherwise I might try the small wide? The pillow with the nostril tips is making my nostrils hurt. Ps. I am a woman. Thanks for your great videos and all the info.

Yes. I'm in the process of getting the new all silicone cushion. You might want to check out the Fisher Paykel Brevida, P10, and especially the Bleep Dreamway.
If your nostrils are hurting with a nasal pillow mask, try rubbing aloe gel or lansinoh cream on the inside of your nostrils prior to putting on your pillow mask.
