  • This Weber SmokeFire Pellet Grill review is a deep dive review into the pros & cons of the new Weber Pellet Grill. Topics in this Weber Smoke Fire Pellet Grill review are: What does the Weber pellet grill Cost? The experience searing steaks w/ the Weber SmokeFire pellet Grill Vs Weber Genesis? What is everything you need to know before you buy the Weber SmokeFire Pellet smoker?
    If you are looking to compare the Weber SmokeFire vs Traeger, i don't discuss that directly. In fact I didn't talk about other brands specifically at all because I want to focus on the Weber SmokeFire. However as a previous owner of a Traeger, Green Mountain Grill, Camp Chef pellet grill, and most recently a MAK 2 Star General, I can tell you there are alot of things I appreciate about this Weber pellet smoker based on some of my previous experiences with other pellet cookers. In the end, I think having options is good for us as consumers because it pushes all the pellet grill manufacturers to up their game.

    I love Weber's "sit back and wait" attitude. So many companies these days jump onto "the current big thing" just for it to die out within a year or less. When they do get involved they do their research, get engineers involved and work out as many failure points as possible. This tells you that they really care!

    Thanks for the great review. I have watched every video that I can find about the SmokeFire. I am a former Trager owner, happily a former owner. The Trager is neither a smoker nor a grill. It did not get hot enough to grill, and there was little if any smoke flavor. I have owned my Weber Smokey Mountain smoker for 10 years.... The absolute best smoker I have ever owned and I have owned many many different smokers at costs up to $5000.00. So why am I here? Two reasons; first, any product that Weber makes deserves serious consideration. second, I loved the convenience of a pellet smoker/grill. IF, A BIG IF, the SmokeFire actually delivers a smoke flavor, Ralph will have to own one....

Im very interested in seeing if the weber will give me the results im after.

    Thank you for the detailed review. Since you probably have more influence that I do with Weber, I'd like to offer the following suggestions for what I would consider my dream cooker. This one is close, and if Weber wants to enter the higher-end market in the future, I'd offer the following: 1. Stainless cooking grates. You mention this, and I heartily agree. Even if it's an upgrade option. 2. A rotisserie. 3. And finally, this is the big one. A cooker with two fire pots and controllers. This would allow the cooker to grill at even higher temperatures, it would reduce temperature variances, and it would allow for two-zone cooking. Think you can have a new model with these features available in time for the 2020 grilling season?!!

    Excellent and informative review, Justin! Sounds like Weber is going to make a big splash in the pellet grill market! Question - from all the videos I have seen, a big emphasis was put on the grilling feature. How does it do bbq at temps 250-300?

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  4 роки тому +3

      We focused on the grilling because we weren't there very long and that was what we had time to do. Also, it's the stand out feature compared to other pellet grills. However, they did talk about the effort they put into make the grates even and accurate (and the pizza turned out good...according to the people who actually got some. lol. I'm not bitter. Also the brisket was fantastic (I did get that).

    Hi Justin, your “iBBQ” is off the charts and is the basis for another well balanced review. Indirect/two zone cooking is the con that most backyard enthusiasts may wrestle with in making this purchase. However, I think those folks who typically buy pellet grills are looking for ultra convenience rather than engaging in the art of BBQ. As example, my wife who is Korean, loves Kalbi with a kiss of smoke but she doesn’t like to mess with a gas grill with a smoke box. Nor does she want to use a kettle because the charcoal is bit dirty. However, when she saw the simplicity and ease of the WSF, she asked if “I” wanted it for Christmas. (I got the hint). Thanks again for another informed review. Blessings, and Happy Thanksgiving.

    I really appreciate your video. I have a camp chef pellet smoker. Mine is at least 4 years old. Probably older. It was one of the first ones that came out. Loved it but it did have some issues on delivering smoke. I tried the smoke tube and the smoke maze with pellets as well as saw dust. Neither helped. I then upgraded to the Smoke Daddy attached to the grill and that did help. It is now time to upgrade and the Camp Chef has done me well after all the upgrades but it is now getting old and needs to retire to a family member just starting in smoking.
    Thank you very much for the video and now I have another option to look into. I am very heavy into smoking and hope to start my own channel next summer. You and a few others have been an inspiration to me. Thank you.

    I originally wasn't a fan of Weber products, but one day I noticed my neighbor wheeling his old Weber out to use while I was setting up my comparatively newer barrel smoker set up for grilling, and although my grill was newer, his was in better condition not because I abused mine, ( i didn't, kept it inside under it's cover for the most part until laziness set in) but because his Weber was just a better product. Since then I have purchased a Weber kettle grill and the smokey mountain smoker, and my only complaint is the money I wasted on the barrel before I got turned on to Weber. After watching your video and how much time and effort they put into that new smoker makes me hopeful they did the same kind of R&D with the rest of their line.

    Hmmm..not sure. I need to see how it does low and slow smoking for flavor, homemade bacon, turkeys, briskets etc. Not wild about the amount of flame in the video, but I do like some of the features and thoughtfulness that went into the design. Honestly, I'm a Green Mountain guy and own one of each of the three sizes, and my oldest, the big Jim Bowie just had it's 7th birthday and keeps working, my latest estimate as of the turkey on Christmas day is 1,826 hours of total cooking time since purchase. I have needed to replace the hot rod twice and the combustion fan once. Neither repair took more than 10 minutes. Their WiFi app is very good and their customer service has been nothing short of exceptional. You mention hopper fires, I have never experienced that and don't know what could possibly cause that with a GMG. That said, I will keep an eye on this unit as I will consider replacing the Jim Bowie in the next couple of years. My Davey Crockett (Tailgater) is only 4 years old and my Daniel Boone is only a month old. Great informational video!

    I’m sure the grill is nice but.... I don’t like the flavorizer bars. I saw a lot of flare ups which is ok when searing a steak. When cooking chicken it really sucks. My gas grill is a Weber Genesis that I’ve had for 10 years and it still works great. I’ve had a Pit Boss pellet grill for about a year now and love it. One of the reasons I like it is because I can load it up with chicken, close the lid, and walk away. I don’t have to worry about flare ups because the flame is covered by the big half barrel. My chicken comes out perfect every time! I wonder how the Weber would do at 400 degrees loaded with chicken wings? As far as searing a steak, my Pitt Boss has a plate that slides to the side to reveal the flames. I just crank it to 500 degrees and slide the plate to the side. Very easy.

      Any time you have a hot fire, you are going to have flair ups. It happens with charcoal too. You can always dial the temps back to avoid it. Also that was a lot of very fatty steaks so that's probably as bad as it will ever get...and honestly it didn't effect the flavor at all.
      Regarding briskets. Like I said, It shouldn't be an issue but a drip pan underneath and that completely negates any concerns.

    I've contacted Weber in Belgium and they told me the price here (in Europe) will be €1299 for the small one and €1499 for the bigger one. Shame that this is so much higher than in US. But nevertheless, these are recommended prices so let's hope they go for a bit lower then that.
    When I was watching this video I was also thinking 'What if you put aluminum foil on the bottom, it will make the clean process a lot easier'. (I like my cookers to be spotless every time I use it....) The fact that they've already tested this, had no 'Yes or No' answer but an explanation of what they found out this did to the cooking process, makes me more curious and excited about his cooker. The fact that they investigated something like that tells me they have done tons of tests with it to make sure this is worth every penny.
    Thanks for the video and looking forward to the launch! We have to wait until march to be able to buy this one....

I then tried a propane grill and hated it started to think grilling wasn’t for me then one day found a 22in Weber kettle for $50 and that’s all she wrote I love Weber and will always buy Weber I’m excited for the pellet Weber and if I can get a good deal on one you better believe I’ll be all over it. Thanks for the video man and keep being awesome.

    Have run the gamut on these pellets grills and gravity charcoal grills also. After 3 (yes three) smokefires, 3 OKJ rider dlx's, a MB560, a MB1050, a pit boss elite 1600, 2 pit boss pro series 1100's, tons of cooks, tons of experimenting.... it's back to a Weber SmokeFire, but this time an EX6. Overall, when it comes down to it, the SF just does more of "everything, better" and makes undeniablyflavorful food.

    Based on the Weber introduction 2/14/20, the issues are computer, and the hopper dropping pellets. I have the 6 in the garage waiting answer about issues from Weber before I use it or return the Weber back to Lowe’s. I have 7 Weber Grills, Primo XL, and a Tejas stick burner.

    I was originally waiting for the spring to buy a traeger ironwood, but after seeing this grill I am definitely waiting for this! There are so many features that are done better on this grill over the ironwood: the ability to sear a steak, monitoring for 4 meat probes (traeger only has 1), easier clean up and maintenance, and the list goes on.

      I don't know much about the Bull. I can only compare it to the older, Red one which I really liked, but I'd at least wait until the Weber comes out and gets some tread on the tires before I buy anything...because it really seems like they have something special on their hands. I like that light though. lol

    So at lets say 02:01 in this video when they are searing steaks, would you also consider that a grease fire? I was under the impression this is how it was designed to sear at high temps?

      Irie 5447 in his newer videos he gets one of these at home. He used it to make a few things...ribs, etc. it had major grease fires and he didn’t like it after all. He said he’s taking it back to the store for a refund.

    Glad I waited to purchase a pellet burner. Was almost ready to pull the trigger on a REC TEC RT-700. Looking forward to seeing a comparison between the two. The REC TEC comes with stainless cooking chamber, grates, and hardware. It also has a pretty good PID Algorithm. I noticed the Weber gets about 100 degrees hotter for searing though. Loved the video and really like your channel. Liked and subscribed.

    For some time now I have been wanting to upsize/upgrade my pellet grill. I have been thinking Rec-Tec RT-700 but now see that this Weber is coming to market and it intrigues me. This Weber does have features that the Rec-Tec does not not have that I really like. Anyway where I work they have a rewards program and after 35 years of service there I would have enough points to get this unit for..FREE! Lucky Me. :) Lot's of good eating either way.

    Excellent video - the one thing I am most intrigued and confused about is the extreme amount of flame being shown in the demo reel. That is not something you EVER see with a pellet smoker, so the absence of the heat shield and purely indirect cooking is the biggest departure from the standard offering. I don't get how all the grease is going to collect nicely in the tray, but I suppose there are angled channels along with the round-bottom barrel (where many are flattened at the bottom)

    As a test engineer at Volvo trucks in Sweden, I would have been surprised if they didn't do that amount of testing before releasing a new product. That's what I expected from a company as big as Weber.

    • @BabyBackManiac
      @BabyBackManiac  4 роки тому +1

      I agree. But they play in a space where that kind of testing is rare and you can see it in the end results. To be blunt, I'm a little tired of being a beta tester but many companies just don't have the resources to do things that thoroughly.

    Great video. So if you had $1200 to spend on a wood pellet grill then would you purchase this Weber Smokefire or the RecTec RT700 Bull? I own a Kamado Joe Big Joe 2 that I purchased February 2019 and I absolutely love it. Looking to buy my first pellet grill to make things easier when I went to cook hotdogs and burgers. As much as I love lighting up my Super Premium Fogo or Jealous Devil lump charcoal, it does take a while before it is ready to cook on. Looking for something easier when timing is limited. Looking to purchase one of these grills in the next week. Thanks for whomever comments.

    Looks interesting but my two biggest concerns are 1) how well does it hold low temps. 2) how will it hold up? In other words, what's the longevity on the grill or do I have to start replacing parts after the first year and what's the warranty? I know we'll learn more once you can get your hands on one and the other we will have to wait and see. Thanks for the info that you've been able to share. :)
