Ive used micro guides and standard guides, I prefer standard size guides (not as tiny and easier to wrap). The more guides the smoother the cast. With my high end rod builds I'll use at least 9 guides plus the tip. I hold them in place with the silicone bands or some tape, string the eyes with line and a reel, and static test it for the bend to make sure my guide spacing are perfect and the line doesn't have any crazy bends or touching the blank itself.

That is definitely what you should be doing. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the continued support.

Hi John, My blank did not come with specs. The tip measures 1.95mm. How does the convert to tip top sizes I commonly see like 4.5 etc...thanks

      Hey Craig, here are some references: 1.6mm (4.0), 1.8mm (4.5), 2.0mm (5.0)

I got the same guide set will it be okay if my tiptop is 4.5/1.2

Ideally you want the tip-top ring to be the same size as your last guide’s next to the tip-top.

@@reelbluecustomrods could it be done or will 0.5 of a mm off affect it Acton?

@@kyepettit7481 - it can be done if that’s what you have. In the future though your tip ring should be the same size as your last guide ring.

@@reelbluecustomrods I got one last question on tip tops my tip for my fishing rod is 1.2mm what size tip top do you suggest I’m stumped on the correct fitting

      @@kyepettit7481 - the tube size for a 1.6 mm is 4.0 and for a 1.2 mm you need a size 3.0

So, if I’ve done this right. My tip top of the blank is a size 5 and the last guide ring size is a 4.5. This means I need a tip top 5-4.5. Is this correct?
