One of my favorites growing up, I tried to emulate him when I played, even tho I was a skinny 6' white boy. He was a freak. Really athletic and aggressive w the ball. Young Derrick Rose kinda reminded me of him.
He threw down w explosiveness. With the Knicks I loved him man, he used to work his ass off especially on defense. To this day I think he was in the upper echelon of hardest working defenders I've ever seen.
Almost every 2 guard in the late 90’s and early 2000’s had a back to the basket game along with a solid mid range game. MJ, Kobe, Drexler, T-Mac, VC, Finley, Spree, Stackhouse, etc... and that’s what IMO sets those players apart from most 2 guards today who only know how to shot 3’s and penetrate to the rim.
When did “analytics” say post play by guards was inefficient…? I must have missed that announcement from the Analytics Gods on high when they gave us their annual Analytics Commandments from basketball heaven. “Analytics” NEVER said anything because “analytics” is just using data to draw principles or conclusions from, and analytics isn’t a monolith. There is a TON of data out there, and there are TONS of conclusions that can be made from that data. No sharp NBA data analyst would ever say something as inelastic and stubborn as “post play from guards is inefficient.” By assuming “analytics” said that you just showed you have NO FUCKING CLUE about data driven analysis of the NBA. You are basing you judgments off of what ignorant talking heads on popular networks tell you. That’s not a good way to become a smarter basketball watcher.
@@LandscapingAdvantage Prime Harden was SO much better than Latrell fucking Sprewell (33.7% career 3pt shooter on lowish volume). You can’t seriously believe that Sprewell is in James Harden’s class as a player….. It ain’t even a discussion. Harden is one of the elite scorers and passers ever. Sprewell is neither.
Comparing the boys in today’s NBA to the men that played back then is silly. Spree was brutal, a force on BOTH ends of the court. Sad that he made poor decisions…but I’ll agree that yes, the comparison is silly.
He is the quickest, fastest, his first step is not guardable. And then on top of quickest feet he has the finesse, smoothness. It's the most beautiful artistry of any baller in my opinion, then he throws down aggression. He has everything I look for in an entertaining b baller.
For his two-way prowess, and being a significant part of two winning franchises, Spree one day should get selected to the HOF. He was an absolute beast during his prime.
Spree was a bit of a hot head and a knuckle head, and unfortunately he'll probably be most remembered for what happened in late 97 involving him and his then head coach, but ON THE COURT, he was a tremendous talent and competitor. very fun to watch.
I always said if Patrick Ewing was 2 years younger in ‘99 that Finals would have ended differently. Spree was the spark plug on that team, but without a healthy Pat Ewing they had absolutely nothing for Duncan, Robinson, and the Spurs.
This was my dude when I was a teen. Wore that #15 jersey with pride around the casual fans with their Shaq, Penny and MJ joints. I cried like a bitch when he got suspended.
Very fond of bro but rewatching his highlights after so long im just realizing he was really a sharpshooter 💨🔥you get lost in his slashing and athleticism that part of his game so lowkey 🤝🏿
Lol hate to say this but Kawhi would take Sprewell’s lunch money and keep it. I have watched both through their careers. Sprewell highlights make him much more fun to watch though and make me think he should have been a top 5 all time SG.
I remember Sprewell being unstoppable his entire career but I did not remember him being this explosive or having that complete of a game. He literally could do anything other than shoot the 3 at an elite level. I am surprised he didn’t reach even greater heights like Ray Allen or Reggie Miller.
He was like the description said…Amazing and explosive scorer. 3s comes and goes, when he was hot, oh lord. Unfortunately he played only 2/3 season with good teams. ‘99 and ‘04
Sounds weird but in his Knicks highlights he looks taller than in his Warriors highlights. Maybe an illusion of the camera capabilities and him putting on more muscle mass.
One of the most explosivw and exciting players I've ever seen. Loved his game.
Love his game too...
I was always a big fan of Latrell Sprewell
Thanks for your comment, bro!
One of my favourite all time players ..underrated in my opinion
He's certainly underrated, even almost no one know's he's once selected as NBA first team in the Jordan era...
Me too he was a joy to watch . My favorite Knick
Most.underated.ever.
Probably shouldn't of choked our Portland coach though... I get it tho, PJ Carlismo looks very chokeable
Latrell Sprewell is not underrated.
The media just isn't talking about him since of the day he strangled coach PJ Carlesimo.
Combination of power, speed, and athleticism make him very exciting to watch.
and skill!
1st jaylen brown
I think we forget how good spree was. Footwork some of the best
True
It was amazing. He was ahead of his time with the footwork.
My player builder keeps telling me im making a player like him so I had to check him out and I must say I'm not disappointed
Lol me too
lmaooooo
Bro that’s exactly why I came here too, I had to see if this man was some cheese on the court😂😂
I’m so lost about what you all are talking about.
Lol
@@becazapatero2477 lol NBA 2k video game
I miss Spree he brought that level of excitement to NYC he was an explosive player there was no doubt about it... fans loved him I know I did....
I loved him too. Too bad today NBA is lack of that kind of explosive player...
One of the fastest dudes in the NBA. He was really fun to watch in New York and Minnesota
Uhhh young spree in golden state was special too
He was even more fun in GS.
@@whobitmyname Admittedly, I haven't watched him in his earlier days.
One of my favorites growing up, I tried to emulate him when I played, even tho I was a skinny 6' white boy. He was a freak. Really athletic and aggressive w the ball. Young Derrick Rose kinda reminded me of him.
Wow, if you can emulate him, I suppose you are so talented on basketball with good physicality, bro!
2023 and admire him still.
Sprewell Had A Mean "Step Back Shot"
🔥🔥🔥
Ye dude, he was hitting step back threes before Harden and all these clowns :D (with all do respecc for the splash bros)
LEGIT UNDERRATED SHOOTING GUARD
If it weren't for the choking incident, Spree would've been a Top-5 shooting guard. Complete offensive package. IMHO prime Spree > DWade
Explosive is certainly the best way to describe him
he was so good, explosive and aggressive.
i really liked his playing style at the time.
He threw down w explosiveness. With the Knicks I loved him man, he used to work his ass off especially on defense. To this day I think he was in the upper echelon of hardest working defenders I've ever seen.
Love to see his plays of Knicks during 99'
So tell me again analytics, how is post play by guards inefficient? Sprewell would torch harden and other guards in the post
Harden and friends couldn’t lace Spree’s DaDas

This guy was an amazing player.
His mad head was his true enemy and it was his undoing.
Spree, Houston, Camby... My fav Knick trio ever and Spree my childhood fav.
Can't forget ewing
My favorite player as a child, and of all time, just a gritty, flat out baller

Beautifully said I could not agree more he was a true joy to watch I miss him on squad
He is so aggressive, explosive, and pretty much fun to watch
He just blow by the opponents and make a HUGE dunk, again and again!
Insane!
Sprewell was a more explosive version of LaMelo.
For his two-way prowess, and being a significant part of two winning franchises, Spree one day should get selected to the HOF. He was an absolute beast during his prime.
Sadly he doesnt have the numbers
I missed the days when the Garden was rocking like this. Hopefully we can bring those days back. Go Knicks!
I'm a Sixers fan and I agree - I'm glad the Knicks seem to be on their way back to some glory.
Camby Johnson Houston Sprewell..ward. how the hell did they not win a chip. Damn spurs and rocket.
Man the NBA was best in this era so much more intensity
Spree was a bit of a hot head and a knuckle head, and unfortunately he'll probably be most remembered for what happened in late 97 involving him and his then head coach, but ON THE COURT, he was a tremendous talent and competitor. very fun to watch.
Agree with your "very fun to watch" bro!
I remember watching Latrell Spreewell back in the day. He was slick.
Explosive dunks. He was great against VC. They always put on a show
I always said if Patrick Ewing was 2 years younger in ‘99 that Finals would have ended differently. Spree was the spark plug on that team, but without a healthy Pat Ewing they had absolutely nothing for Duncan, Robinson, and the Spurs.
Ewing didn't even play in the Finals. He got hurt
@@chrisstrong7584 True. I should have been more specific. But either way Pat was cooked in ‘99
He was younger against Hakeem. That ain’t work either lol
It would've went to 7 games but idk if he'll beat Duncan and Robinson
Looking back on his career now, I think he would've been a great point guard today.
Ehh idk. SG hell yea
No one but Michael played the passing lanes better than Latrell. Quick enough bass line to bass line to mug any point guard in the league today.
@@LarryPint84 AI
AI best on ball defender ever!

Nice😎
He could’ve have been the next Jordan. So much potential.
Hilarious that people think the step back is a new move.
Absolutely all time top 10 Knicks list! Garden favorite! Bigger stronger faster better Westbrook! Absolute Beast on both ends of court!

I miss this Knicks team. So fun to watch
Damn i miss this knicks squad
That team had such a great spirit.
True, I mean 99' they played really close with the Spurs, really good
Yea man I was never a Knicks fan, at all, but this squad got me. They PLAYED, it was something.
I hated the Knicks while jordan played.. in 1999 they were my favorite team... along with kings
ME TOOOO!!!!
If he had the maturity of a Lebron or Tim Duncan etc Spree could've been an all time great
True
If my grandmother had wheels should had be a bike

Isnt that the truth
Sprewell was a underrated player and two way player

My favorite fast break dunker back then. These two handed tomahawks were signatures.
so fun to watch this dude.

Much love to a real "knickgrit" player
He was a huge star when I was getting into basketball here in the UK
Latrell, Larry Johnson, Charlie Ward, Marcus Camby, Allen Houston.... As Lakers fan I can admit the Knicks had a squad back then.
I don’t think some ppl understand the magnitude of how much Latrell would buss yo a** lol he was a legit force to be reckon with.
Increible jugador! De los mejores que e visto
Thanks!
Him AI T-Mac Kobe and Vince were my guys
I loved Costas and Collins calling the primetime games
❤❤❤❤❤❤ I was a kid in the I'll late 90s memories
So basically kawhi with speed and athleticism
Pretty much to be honest
So Leonard has no athleticism now, huh... sweet baby jesus

Sprewell highlights make him much more fun to watch though and make me think he should have been a top 5 all time SG.
And with a expressive face
Just a bit smaller
Spree was nasty!!!
Should’ve been an all time great
Sad, he was once a candidate for the “next Jordan”

Maybe not with the baggage
But with the Talent
That would be nice. But Sprewell has way too much attitude
This must be one of those plumbers that all the new NBA fans talk about.
Spree gave T Wolves their best season ever. Very talented guy.
prior to 04 garnett never once led them past round 1 or got an mvp award
garnett is 6 ft 11 + in that era the nba didn't have legends like oscar robertson kareem abdul-jabbar wilt chamberlain + bill russell
As a kid he was my favorite player
One of the coldest😂
This dude was ELECTRIC ⚡️.. A blend of Westbrook and JR Smith.
So quick and explosive… even compare to the current players… in fact quicker!
Lavine isn’t as quick, but they have the same stride in the open court. He’s the closest player I’ve seen that jumps passing lanes like Spree.
I was watching this thinking the same. Same number too
He is so fast.
Sprewell favorite 2 hand jam
Jumpshot was pure
Forever Spree 🔝🔝🔝
He really was a great player
Had to look this guy up after AI gave him praise
I miss him straight up killer
Sprewell : Iverson in taller version I think 🤔
Allen Iverson: "If I could be any other player, I wouldn't be Michael Jordan, man..I would take Latrell Sprewell's game. I love the way he plays."
My wife favorite New York knick of all time.
I remember Sprewell being unstoppable his entire career but I did not remember him being this explosive or having that complete of a game. He literally could do anything other than shoot the 3 at an elite level. I am surprised he didn’t reach even greater heights like Ray Allen or Reggie Miller.

Unfortunately he played only 2/3 season with good teams. ‘99 and ‘04
He was like VC with faster feet and elevation on his shot. VC is all we know a highlight in the open floor with smooth jumpshot too
He was more like Rose, except he was a terror on both ends of the floor.
Great 2 guard
I missed him when when he was gone from Warriors
Golden State sprewell #15 was the best 2 guard besides Jordan ive ever seen...💥 Ny Knicks sprewell was good....but no where close to 92-97 sprewell🔥
They have in common of The Warren
Sounds weird but in his Knicks highlights he looks taller than in his Warriors highlights. Maybe an illusion of the camera capabilities and him putting on more muscle mass.
It's really NYK's golden age.
Indeed
Spree was not underrated! Everyone knew his worth😉Song🕊🎶💿
Jaylen Brown is the player today that reminds me of Latrell Spreewell
Sprewell would have had greater success playing in today's NBA.
the 99 knicks beat the pacers 4-2 in round 3 + certain people said indiana didn't play well
This is who rj Hampton reminds me of
He looked like he played better with the Timberwolves 🔥🔥
Can we get a Rasheed Wallace offensive video?
Sure, go to my UA-cam community and leave a comment, I will gather all the comments and make videos for you guys~
Whats great is after he makes his shots he always runs back for defence. Not sure if anyone notices.
