      The Golden State Warriors one?.
He was very good addition to the NYK team, always liked him, and NYK had many great players back then Ewing/Starks/Houston/Spree.
It still makes me laugh when Van Gaundy told that stuff about Mike in the interview and MJ destroyed Knicks afterwards, and telling VG off after the game.
      Hilarious

Starks and Spree swapped. Starks to G.S. Spree to N.Y. Those 90's Knicks were hella dope tho.@@sebastianliwinski222

One of my top 5 favorite players all time. Man was a beast and put it all out there on the court.

Your perception was correct. Dont let this sunny bullshit video distort your reality. Spree was/IS a bad guy. His rap sheet didn't end with PJ. Talk about a massive waste of talent. Look up the mess this dude made of his life....

You never let me down, Latrell. Granted, these players do need to be professionals, but these coaches do abuse their power from time to time.

Well written. Sprewell's was exploited and was too immature to capitalise, all that time nobody noticed his loose marbles (that is why I claim exploitation). He needed counselling and anger management training. Your documentary put a real spin on his situation, didn't know he punched Carlissimo too! Spree was leading the NBA in scoring right before that happened, he made the league a lot of money (he was Steph before Steph in Golden State,) his story is tragic, for him!

Not enough of a penalty he should have been charged criminally. Coaches job to enforce rules spree didn't follow league and team rules and got mad because his boss at the time tried to enforce them. Also he attacked pj twice the second time happening 30 minutes after the first incident

As a teenager, I watched this go down and I knew that it was a one sided inaccurate presentation. Years later, we find out how much of a dick Carlissimo was. If the races were reversed, the coach would have been the bully, and the player defended himself.

I do not think of the incident as much as the way that he played on the court. He was smooth and fun to watch. I am thankful for the Players Union they did what they were supposed to do to keep the powers that be from having knee-jerk reactions to what the players do.
Stern was not the best comissioners when it came to handling issues of race which was staring him right in the face with so many Black players in the league and no owners at the time and very few Black coaches. The auduence is usually 80% white and only know what they read in the news about Black people.
It is 2022 and not much has changed. Draymond Green (GSW) punched his teamate in practice but in the age of social media it was caught on phone camera. No one even knows about the Warriors and Latrell and the two fights in practice with bigger guys. Green had the size on the second year player Jordan Poole. It seemed like a big bully picking on the new kid.
After Spree sighned with the Knick he was allowed to reboot his image and people saw that he had a lot more to him than BB or his temper. His temper kept him alive on the streets as it does with many Black men but it will eventually eat you up. White organization pay you to entertain them they want you to shut off all that you are like magic. Again, it is the same as it ever was... Good song. Talking heads.
I knew that this dilema existed in the NBA at a young age and vowed never to play more than 5 years no matter how much they offered me, so as not to allow white people think that that is all I could do - entertain them and not stand up for the system of racism in this country. I had a Kaepernick attitude years before he was even born. Lol!

I loved him when he came to New York and we made that run in '99, but what he did in GS was wrong as hell. Basketball today is garbage because players have no one to tell them to do it differently.

ESPN corny as hell for starting his story off with that chocking incident instead of starting it from the beginning like they usually do. Strong willed black men like sprewell aren't likes by the media and society.
Sprewell is a much more smarter and intelligent person than this video and the media tried to paint him. He's a very chill person but pj tried to pull that dictatorship on him...
Spree had the talent to be mentioned as one of the top ten players of that era but somehow none of his coaches had the vision nor intelligence to see that
