  • I fully explain the difference between pitching and flipping and demonstrate both techniques! I'm working heavy Hydrilla Matts in Central Florida with 2 once punching weights, Yamamoto creature baits, 65# braid, heavy drag Solus casting reel and a 7'6" heavy action Favorite flipping stick. Several beautiful bass up to 7 pounds are taken.

Old school pro’s are SO darned good at explaining things. I swear a lot of these younger guys just love to hear themselves talk. What they say may technically be correct, but without actually showing it, it’s purely academic.

The sound of the drag winding when the bass hit it in the grass, so satisfying.

I’m still learning, but I assumed pitching and flipping was the same thing. Thanks for showing the difference. I continue to learn from your videos. Btw, I just bought some of those Gary Yamamoto cowboys last week, not for pitching and flipping (which I will definitely try), but to use as a trailer for my chatter bait.

Hey Roland! Thanks again for more great tips. I’m usually hesitant to throw into the heavy cover on account of getting hung up. Thanks to you, I have 65 pound braid, and more confidence. I appreciate all your advice, it goes a long way! Much respect to you

Definitely a difference between flipping and pitching and most times fishermen will say "I was flipping" when they were actually doing both. And other fishermen know what they mean. And fisherwomen. Great video!!!

I just ordered a bunch of big tungsten bullet weights and a heavy duty baitcasting rod and reel to start punching the mats for bass. I've always fished the edge of the cover never right into it. I imagine there will be a learning curve to landing a bass all caught up in the slop but it seems like there's a whole lot of fish to be caught under that stuff.

Which rod and reel are you using. I love watching you, but I get discouraged here in Washington State because I can't seem to catch any bass. I've been trying relentlessly and not even 1. I've seen them so I know it's my skill level, I'm just gonna keep pluggin away I guess. Fishing is not my strong suit but I love it. So many fishless days it's getting embarrassing really. My kids are starting not to respect me hahahaha. Great stuff Roland!.

My biggest issue with Yamamoto baits is they are too soft for heavy cover. Oh they work if you want to buy twice as many as a comparable plastic. That grin @14:08 is what its all about though. When you think its near 10 but its a 5 and your still happy. 👍👍👍
