- I fully explain the difference between pitching and flipping and demonstrate both techniques! I'm working heavy Hydrilla Matts in Central Florida with 2 once punching weights, Yamamoto creature baits, 65# braid, heavy drag Solus casting reel and a 7'6" heavy action Favorite flipping stick. Several beautiful bass up to 7 pounds are taken.

Old school pro’s are SO darned good at explaining things. I swear a lot of these younger guys just love to hear themselves talk. What they say may technically be correct, but without actually showing it, it’s purely academic.
The sound of the drag winding when the bass hit it in the grass, so satisfying.
I’m still learning, but I assumed pitching and flipping was the same thing. Thanks for showing the difference. I continue to learn from your videos. Btw, I just bought some of those Gary Yamamoto cowboys last week, not for pitching and flipping (which I will definitely try), but to use as a trailer for my chatter bait.
I don't get why there are any thumbs down (dislikes) to this video. Who doesn't like this good ol' boy that's just teaching us what he loves. Invaluable information from one of the best pros still around. Thank you sir!
Probably the Bass.
thanks Roland this was great..I been watching you since 1984..keep up the good work..that was a great flipping and pitching tutorial!!
Roland love when you go out just you and camera and teach fishing. I write things down and reference back to them for future. Thank you sir for great videos.
Big Ol Bass. My three favorite words on Wed and Sun. Great entertainment and knowledge. Thanks much!
Great tutorial , great fish catching, from Roland , a national treasure!
Hey Roland! Thanks again for more great tips. I’m usually hesitant to throw into the heavy cover on account of getting hung up. Thanks to you, I have 65 pound braid, and more confidence. I appreciate all your advice, it goes a long way! Much respect to you
I watched you growing up and now I get to see you when older thanks for your channel I'm 52 years old
Same...but 35yrs old løl
I am so glad you made this video because I had no clue how to pitch and flip. Thank you very much. Awsome video.
I can not get enough of your videos, Roland! Thank you!
Love the way you teach Roland!
Thank you sir! Most every time scrolling through channels and I come across yours, it's to irresistible to pass up another lesson from the Bass Master himself. I'm saving them to my Roland Martin folder! Thanks again!
Roland is still lighting fast with those hook sets isn't he lol, listen to that line ping and reel squeak!!!
Best presentation I ever seen easy to understand you still have it Roland

Mr. Martin always looks like hes ready to golf and fish at the same time
Man ide give my first born for a few hours with Roland.
Maybe not my kids...lol...but I would pay a ton a money to do so..I met him years ago ..he gave me a top water spin bait...still have it...
Lots of my club members have fished tournaments with him
Thanks for keeping this place on the down low. Caught a 8 pounder there Friday afternoon.
He makes it look easy haha 👍🏽🎣🤙🏽
Keep 'em coming!
big one, big one, big one, big one, I GOTTA BIG ONE, I GOTTA BIG ONE, I GOTTA BIG ONE.....YES SIR!
Good stuff Roland! 💯
Great video. Thanks, Sir!
I avoid that mess like its Covid19...Roland tosses right in the middle of it!
Learn something EVERY time I watch him.
Thanks Mr Roland Martin
Definitely a difference between flipping and pitching and most times fishermen will say "I was flipping" when they were actually doing both. And other fishermen know what they mean. And fisherwomen. Great video!!!
Now that's sneakin up on em son!
Mr. Roland is That DUDE!!!!! He is one of my favorites. He is why I became interested in Bass Fishing. Thank You Sir.
No offense to your son, but I enjoy your channel so much more 😅. I'm saving this to my "Fishing technique" playlist lol. Welcome to the playlist Mr. Martin.
Thank for passionately sharing so many year of priceless knowledge,! I'm a novice fished Toledo Bend, know we look at camps. Can't wait to go back in February and March, should be eventful !
es
He is the master.
Roland Martin is a national treasure
I've never done this technique. But I sure would enjoy going out on a lake with this guy and landing monsters. It would be such a relaxing day
I love your videos.. keep up the great work.. you're truly an ambassador of the sport..
I just ordered a bunch of big tungsten bullet weights and a heavy duty baitcasting rod and reel to start punching the mats for bass. I've always fished the edge of the cover never right into it. I imagine there will be a learning curve to landing a bass all caught up in the slop but it seems like there's a whole lot of fish to be caught under that stuff.
what is that noise in the background of your video, gets quite loud at 12m40s? sounds like generators or something?
Xoxoxo
I power fished pitched and flipped and my girlfriends heavy cover and all I got out of it was some crabs.
Did you rip off a fart at 4.44? Hope you didn't follow through and draw mud. It sounded like a close call.
"That's not the real big ones, yet," he said pulling out the largest fish I've never caught. Lol.
Awesome so you never fail yeah always get them bigs 💯💯💯🎣🎣👍👍👍🤑🕺🙏
I lived in Ft. Lauderdale the entire area is terrible the people are garbage the weather is just hot. I wouldn't go back to catch a 50 lb bass
Roland!!! I see u need a camera holder. I would be honored to hold your camera sir. Just let me know when and where lol
Is the 2 ounce weight pegged? Another great video!
Hey Mr Roland can you punch the Matts from the bank or does it works better from the boat?
Living legend best bass man alive my all time favorite
Sweet
I wish i could catch them like that.... at least i get to enjoy watching you do it... thanks
Rowland why wouldn’t a straight tail worm work for this.
First! Been watching you since I was a kid. 20 years ➕
I love the videos Mr. Roland, however they are too short! I wish they were an hour or more long. I have watched all these videos on youtube atleast twice.
Which rod and reel are you using. I love watching you, but I get discouraged here in Washington State because I can't seem to catch any bass. I've been trying relentlessly and not even 1. I've seen them so I know it's my skill level, I'm just gonna keep pluggin away I guess. Fishing is not my strong suit but I love it. So many fishless days it's getting embarrassing really. My kids are starting not to respect me hahahaha. Great stuff Roland!.
And now I've read the discription. My bad!!
Great video. America’s Hero
What kind of hooks do you use for flipping and pitching?
And another question does bass eat crappie?
Whata life.fishin mexico with wheeler dove huntin,on to ok with jimmy ,flippin in everglades, wooo (as my buddy richard gene would say) "fishin is a sport 2nd to none"woooo
“He’s the great American fisherman”.....I’m in my early 50’s now and Roland has always been there...thanks for the tutorial videos!
How was the sinker rigged? 2oz?
My biggest issue with Yamamoto baits is they are too soft for heavy cover. Oh they work if you want to buy twice as many as a comparable plastic. That grin @14:08 is what its all about though. When you think its near 10 but its a 5 and your still happy. 👍👍👍
Could you do a video on night bass fishing, lure, presentations, equipment.....
Great video 👍👍.
Im new to all this and I realized I do more flipping then pitching.
I'd like to believe U caught the monster as u bent down to retrieve it next to the boat, didn't get to see the catch.
Other than, beautiful fish.
Thank you Roland for this information. I had heard about pitching and flipping but really did not know much about those techniques. Your videos have taught me a great deal. I appreciate them.
Man I can’t wait til after work tomorrow
So awesome. A true legend.
Awesome video Roland,I love this UA-cam ❤️👊👍
Very informative video, with some amazing fish catches! Thanks for sharing.
What a legend! I've been learning from watching Roland Martin fish for over 20 years.
Great video Mr. Martin......thanks for all the info you share throughout your posts 👍
Hook me up with a trip to fish with ya .
I never called anything flipping or pitching but we get that new technique I will try thank you for your knowledge and your teachings
Thanks for the video!
Been watching you since I was a teenager, still learning different techniques, thank you.
Are you just flippn random spots in the mat Roland or are you looking for something in particular?
Some more good stuff. There are some huge bass in those mats.

Go show 603Bass some love
Hey hey I hit the likes button
I met him years ago and got to watch him fish. He is a BEAST. To this day the fastest hook sets I have ever seen.
Not a googan. Legend.

Roland, I imagine you've forgotten more about Bass fishing than most of us will ever learn. I love your Videos and you sure seem to enjoy making them. Thank you for sharing your vast knowledge!
He doesn’t forget a thing It’s a scientific fact
Hey Roland, I know you stated you used a Yamamoto bait, but could you possibly add a link where we can buy the bait you used? Keep up the good work btw!
Karl’s bait and tackle or any fish store 297 green pumpkin most of the times there sold out but Karl’s can ship them straight to your door.
4:44 i heard that haha
Thank for all the little tips and tricks
