Now that I know you've been quad since you were a young child, I can totally understand how you're so well adjusted to your life and have a sense of humor about it even :)
you are a blessing.. and you are amazing and have a great and positive attitude... You brought a huge smile to my heart when you mentioned you read the Bible every morning.. that is our food for the day and our life.. God bless you.. I am so glad i found your channel.. I am a paraplegic and you inspired me in a big way..
I do a lot of things with my mouth and teeth too so you are right that you need to take care of them because I need them. I had pressure issues too and had to go to the wound clinic for treatment and now I have to spend more time laying down to keep them healed or they will come back they told me. If I sit in my chair and put pressure on them for too long they will open up again. There is a lot you can do laying down and in bed if you have everything positioned right around you to use it. I like that you talked about being stretched in your video because it helps with spasms and contractures and is important they keep telling me and I think it does help.
Woah my first time seeing a (had to google what it's called) telescopic mouth stick! I wonder how it looks to ring the bell or type with it. I love how you and Joy communicate with eye contact signals, I noticed it most when you guys were inspecting the feet and she looked at you to know when to release or switch angles. I wonder how long she's been working with you and her relationship like whether shes a fulltime caregiver or a relative? I might find out by watching more vids though😂
Using a mirror to show you your skin check is a really good idea because they just tell me how I am doing while I am laying there but I have no idea if I am or not and I just take their word for it but it is better if you have a way to check it out for yourself. My caregivers try to tell me what is going on with my body while they are doing my care to make me feel like I am a part of it and I appreciate it because sometimes I feel like a car in the garage just laying there and getting my oil changed and maybe a new battery.
@Emily Wilson I just have to lay there and let them do what they have to do for me and it just hit me one time that I was just like a car getting my oil changed or something like that if they were changing my tubing or doing something else because to them I think it kind of is like that and they are just working on my equipment to keep me running and to stay alive.
@Emily Wilson It is kind of difficult having people work on my body like this and it used to be really a lot more awkward for but I just started thinking that they are just doing their jobs and to them it must be like I am just a car being worked on and it kind of makes it less awkward if you think about it that way. I am not sure how it is with you but you get kind of used to the routine of it and now like you just said I am just along for the ride and I have to let them do what they need to do for me.
@Emily Wilson I think exactly the same thing when they are working on me too. I always think I am not sure I would able to do what you are doing for me right now and it kind of makes you appreciate them a lot more. They actually try to make it easier on me by acting like it is not a big deal and talking to me about the weather or something happening in the News when I am naked and they are doing what they do but to them it is just their jobs and you kind of learn that when you need to have this kind of care done for me all the time.
@Emily Wilson I definitely have found out that they really want to help people. I have one Nurse who actually is better at it than anyone else because she has been doing this kind of care for a long time and I am not sure if she ever will retire but I think about it sometimes and wonder what I would do if she retired but they have trained a new person who is doing it along with her now and she is really good at it too so they are kind of always thinking ahead. There are not a lot of people who do this type of care or are afraid to do it because they think only a Nurse can do it so it is kind of difficult sometimes to get caregivers.
What time do you get up? Why is it that your wrists and fingers tend to pull inwards? Can you make a video of your night routine? Do you have a special diet to prevent getting fat?
I get up around 7:15-7:30 most days. Night routine is basically opposite of morning without washing hair. I read my Bible, brush teeth, get dressed for bed, and do stretching routine. For my hands, see the recent video on splints: ua-cam.com/video/kQbEyHnrGdk/v-deo.html
For myself all my siblings know if I have an accident or an illness and I get paralyzed from neck down as a quad , the medical system have to let me go …
I can understand, but you also need to be careful. Receiving a high-level spinal cord injury includes many challenges in life. However, it's not the end of the world and, as I try to show, can be a productive and great life.

Hi were diaper
Several options are available for bathroom needs. Padded briefs or diapers are rarely chosen and I use different methods.
