    Bad video ! Does not address the common issue of " No Sound" because of seemingly secret unused wire issues.

    • @KKFan9
      @KKFan9  4 роки тому +4

      You know... I'm sorry you feel that way. But honestly I am totally not aware of the "no sound" issues everyone else seems to find lol. Until I got rid of the Jeep last year, everything worked just fine with no issues at all. I just matched up every wire on the harness to my radio install kit harness, the only difference being the one black wire I had left on the radio side, I spliced that one into the black ground wire that was inside the radio well. 5:19 in the video I explained that.
      Of course, many people may have the fancy Infinity system in their car, which is completely different because the door speakers are meant to give only bass frequency, where the tweeters in the dash and door actually give the mids and highs. When you put an aftermarket system into the car, it's going to try to use those door speakers like normal, but they wont work because the wiring system is different. I mentioned in the beginning of the video that mine did NOT have the Infinity system.
      Not arguing at all. I'm glad you spoke your mind and I will never complain about that. But I'm just explaining my side of things, as I have gotten a lot of requests asking about certain wires and the black wire and no sound stuff, so here's my reply to you and everyone else that stumbles across this video
      2:12 - Aftermarket Radio Harness Installer for this Jeep (non-Infinity system, Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo)
      6:04 - Aftermarket Radio Dash Installation Kit (again, non-Infinity system, Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo)

      No sound issue in my case was getting power to the factory amp. Your radio can turn on, scan stations, adjust volume, connect to blue tooth etc. all that but with no sound. If you have the radio itself working but no sound you need to figure out why your factory amp doesn’t have power or if it itself is still good. For me it was my blue and white wire and a ground to the chassis. I have a loreado 2001.

      Dale i installed and actually ended up having zero audio come through the speakers. Gonna check the voltages tommorrow, but any ideas of what to look for? 2004 jeep grand cheroke limited. Can tell the wiring is good, based on dimmer funtionality, radio lighting up, etc. Interested in any suggestions

    • @KKFan9
      @KKFan9  6 років тому

      Sean Lacey Very interesting to hear and I'm sorry you ran into issues. Is your system any chance an Infinity system? The way the speakers work in that system is different from the Chrysler OEM one. The door speakers on the Infinity only pick up bass frequency versus normal stuff on the OEM one. The mid or high sounds come from the tweeters.
      I would check voltages yes but as far as actual numbers I do not know. Since you are checking voltages, why not just double check the wiring. Heaven knows maybe one wire isn't right or something stupid happened. Keep it simple first!

      Actually, from watching your video again, i see you have the blue wire hooked up. I skipped that thinking the little antenna flag on it was indicating it wasnt... needed or something. Do you have any details on what that connection is for? been trying to dig up some documentation on it

    Ive installed an after market stereo in my 02 jeep same dash hookups in the video except I'm running into issues. My new deck doesn't have the illumination wire to match my jeep and my only way to get my deck to work is connecting it to the red acc wire which causes it to only works if the headlights are turned on. Ive tried just leaving it unconnected but it doesn't function at all in that case. Anybody know how to fix or at least put me on the right path? I even made sure the ground was good and clean.

    2002 Grand Cherokee requires the "P Cont" on stereo wire (Blue Wht) to be connected to Blue wire on Jeep harness to provide power to it's amplifier I guess or no sound. Also, if you haver steering wheel controls, you need to by a separate universal adapter to tie those into the stereo unit.

    Hey I'm doing mine soon and two questions
    1.Did you still have functional steering wheel controls?
    2.And I saw when you pulled yours out it had multiple connectors in the back of the stock unit. Maybe I missed it but what did you do with those. Mine is a 03 limited Laredo, I can't find specific videos for that head unit that actually
    answer my questions.
    Thanks!

    Does your vehicle have steering wheel controls and is it the 2000 Laredo? Or do you know if the 00 Laredo has this

    • @KKFan9
      @KKFan9  6 років тому

      Hey Gabe! My particular Grand Cherokee (2000 Laredo you are correct) does NOT have steering wheel controls for the radio. But from my understanding, some Laredo models actually do, it was an option. However Im not 100% sure if steering wheel controls only came with the upgraded Infinity system or not. That is a good question that I'll have to do some research on. BUt I think you for the question and comment!

    I have the infinity system and after hooking up the harness the rear speakers wouldn't work, I tied them in with the front speaker wires at the harness and they work but don't sound good. What am I doing wrong?

    • @KKFan9
      @KKFan9  5 років тому

      Hey Steven, so after doing some research I found that the Jeeps with the Infinity system, the door speakers only receive bass frequencies. The dash speakers handle all the mids and highs so thats why your speakers up front dont sound good and why they wont work at all in the rear.
      Per the following on Crutchfield which is where I found this. Its helpful to you, but at the same time it's not what you'll want to hear...
      "In Grand Cherokees equipped with the Infinity system, these door
      speakers only receive bass frequencies. All of the mid and high
      frequencies go to the dash speakers. You can still install regular
      coaxial speakers, but they'll only play bass. Your best bet is to buy a
      set of component speakers to replace the stock speakers in the front
      doors and dash. The only workaround is to install a new receiver and run
      new speaker wires from the receiver to the door speaker locations."

    Nice! Seems easy! :D

    • @KKFan9
      @KKFan9  6 років тому +1

      It's a little cantankerous if you are not familiar with the proceedure. If you are going into it blind, you will definitely be a little nervous with all the wires. But as I said every wire is color-coded with the install kits so you literally cannot mess them up lol. A good little project that brings new life to any car (especially my Jeep being a little older) that most people can easily do themselves! Thank you for the comment! :D

    Just use solder crimps, like regular crimps but have solder inside and heat shrink, use a lighter (preferably a heat gun tho) so that it solders the pieces together and heat shrinks it

      Henry, thank you for the comment! If you are wondering about parts, I highly recommend you go to crutchfield.com. Not being paid by them, it's my own personal recommendation. They have a great website that tells you exactly what kits and wiring harness will apply to your specific Grand Cherokee. If you buy a radio from them, they almost always will throw in all the install stuff you need as well (minus the actual tools)

      @KKFan9  7 років тому

      Very interesting. I do apologize for not replying sooner. From what I know for my personal situation, I did not encounter a black/yellow wire for my radio. Any chance that your Jeep is a Limited? Or at least one with the upgraded Infinity system with the amp? The only thing I could find on a black/yellow wire is for that particular radio and it apparently is the negative cable for the left side instrument panel speaker...

    I have power hooking the radio to the battery under the hood. The factory radio was working fine this am. When I connect every colored wire matched up I have no power or sound. Is there anything you can think of? The black factory amp wire is not hooked up. I've installed about 40 radios in my life and never come across this problem. Help?

    • @KKFan9
      @KKFan9  6 років тому

      Wow that sounds pretty terrible d-town and I'm sorry to hear that. The power to the radio is directly fed from the battery? Is that was I read or did I see differently? Keep it simple first I would check to make sure the fuse at the back of the radio is not blown, also make sure all your fuses under the hood that are related to the radio are not blown either. Always keep it simple first, just make sure no fuses are blown. Also just double check your work with all the wiring, make sure you didnt accidentally cross one of the wires

    • @d-townslasher7538
      @d-townslasher7538 6 років тому

      Dale Reynolds thanks for the reply Dale but after some head scratching I figured out that there is not a ground in my wiring harness. It was a separate wire altogether. Once I got the ground hooked to it instead of the clip it worked fine. Guess I just never ran into that in any other radios I had done unfortunately.

      Honestly Kay I do not know. For my particular Jeep, I did not need or have the connector for that wire. My assumption (and it's just an assumption, not 100% sure) that the wire you are referring to is for Limited vehicles only with the Infinity system and that wire powers either the subwoofer or the CD changer. Again I'm not 100% sure but my radio did not come with a connector for that wire and works just fine. I hope I was able to give you some help with my comment anyways!
