I didn't look up this video because I got stuck or anything, I just always Google a video of something before I even start doing it so I have a rough idea of what to expect, and your video cut right to the chase and told me exactly what I needed! I wish more UA-cam channels were like!
I am so happy the Jeep comes apart so easily! I had hoped to see how the side panel for the speaker(s) came off too - without breaking any of the tabs :) DJRob. 2001 Jeep Owner.
I did check the wires for continuity from the stereo to the speaker and they are good, it just needs new ones. Which is fine because they sound like garbage anyway lol
GearHeads that’s good!!!! When you do speaker installation in the rear headliner, use a speaker harness adapter for easy install instead of hacking into the factory wiring of the rear speakers
Thanks! Much Much Much more coming soon for a sound system on this. Tore apart the whole interior for all kinds of upgrades and mods and adding a sound system as well
It depends on the situation but I usually crimp over solder for auto applications. Auto manufacturers crimp more than solder in their own harnesses as well because solder is brittle and can crack over time and vibrations etc. For something that sits still Solder is a great way to go!
Hopefully this gets to you, My XJ only has one working speaker. I can get the driver side door to work if i have the door a certain way…is this a radio, speaker, or wiring issue?
If anyone has a really good - working - Factory or other - with a great-sounding Tape Player - or even the few Recorders - let me know - I would love to get back to the Retro feel for the Jeep. (Ponders - Even an 8 Track player would be a cool feel for the Jeep - I know the Jeep is post-1970s era - but what a cool idea!)
My XJ has a crappy aftermarket CD deck in it now, and I'm swapping in a better one that has bluetooth soon. Can I just reuse the wiring harness that the old aftermarket deck used and plug that harness into the back of my new deck? They're different brands. Or do I need to wire it all up anew?
Hello, So I have a problem with my 2001 XJ Sport, there is no sound, The radio has time and when my dad took it out and hooked it up It worked, so we don't believe it’s the radio. While doing research I saw that a lot of people said there can be bad wiring in the door, we checked the wiring in the door and all the wires were fine, Now I'm not sure where to look. If its a wiring problem I'm not sure where, and all the speakers look good, but I can't promise the speakers are good, it just seems weird for all of them to be bad. Has anyone else had this same problem and were you able to fix it? Thanks in advance for all answers.
I just bought an 01 XJ and the after market radio is draining the battery, (it can still turn on even when the vehicle is off), any tips on what to look for as I pull it out and inspect? Thanks!
Yes they likely switched or connected both the red and yellow wires coming out of the radio, use a multi-meter or test light and look up the instructions for your radio model and test for constand power and key on power at the back and if it is incorrect then wire it appropriately.
I have seen them that cheap but I think I will be spending the money and getting something a bit nicer when the time comes as well as installing all new speakers and maybe an amp...we'll see!
@@GearHeadsGarageChannel it has the 2connector for harness antenna then a little clip that's slide in with the 2wires someone said it find be for the stock amp that came with jeep
Bro good video n all but the first add I see is talking about trust ai to replace an actual lawyer to get 100 thousand if u get in an accident lol stfu it doesn't work like that. Idk what it takes to get paid adds on ur Chanel but that is blatant bullshit lol

Will have videos on that soon, in the middle of a giant interior overhaul right now and also swapped in a Double Din stereo this time
@@GearHeadsGarageChannelim not sure if you’re still active but do you lnow what sort of stereo it was?
Finally found a good explanation for the black wire installation, thank you
Door speaker wires in front doors are always the common problem. You can do both things:
Wire directly to back of stereo
Repair factory speaker wires
I did check the wires for continuity from the stereo to the speaker and they are good, it just needs new ones. Which is fine because they sound like garbage anyway lol

@@ernie0699 I'll keep that in mind thanks!
Dude. I feel your pain. I’m in it. Does it work yet? I think wires break in the rubber accordion boot between the door. Brutal.
pro tip : you can watch movies on instaflixxer. Been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Tadeo Kristopher yea, I've been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself =)
I love you dude. You explained this so thoroughly. Very well done!

Same thing happened to us! The front speakers are not working.
Gotta say I prefer to solder my wires but as long as you use good but connectors (like you did) it is a easy and clean job

Check the wiring in the rubber boot from the door to the door frame

Can you list out everything you used?
Did you buy the frame for your new radio?
Thank you this video helped me out a lot

Probably going to have to rewire it

Love that style of butt connector! Check out some of the Bluetooth aux inputs on Amazon - mine was $25 and works great!

Wat the part number on the wire harness
Great video
Emergency haha I have 2extra wires that are connected like grounds but they are purple and white with black stripes but there's already a black ground
I believe purple and white is one of the speaker wires? Are you saying extra from the radio or from the cars harness?
