    I’m not watching these videos in order. I’ve come back to some from the beginning that I haven’t watched. WOW! You have come a long way from these in the early days. Your personality shines even more now, your confidence has increased, the quality of recording, and the editing has become very creative. Not that anything was wrong with these videos from the early days because your main theme of “teaching technique” has remained along with your genuine personality. The teaching & your genuine personality are what is important and the success of your channel. 🥰🥰🥰

    Just a money saving idea to consider....you can make your own chalk paint easily. And I like it way better than the Rustoleum. Also, the colors are endless and a gallon of “Oops” off-white will last you forever. Not to mention, the sample containers for small products. Just 2 cups paint, 4TBS plaster of Paris, and 2 TBS water. I mix the Plaster and water first until thick and smooth, then gradually add it to the paint while mixing. It dries quickly, so you can work fast. Keep a lid on it if not using. Any grittiness from lumps not mixed out well, just hit with fine grit. I seal mine with one coat of varathane but it isn’t required. I’ve done bedroom furniture to kitchen cabinets and it’s never let me down! I got the recipe from the paint lady at Home Depot, who told me to stop wasting money on chalk paint and make my own! Enjoy!

      This is so helpful thank you! I wanted to get chalk paint but it’s so expensive! Also, what type of paint would you recommend? Just any household paint or is it a furniture specific paint?

    • @lorihamlin3604
      @lorihamlin3604 3 роки тому +2

      I’ve used assorted left over paints to make my own chalk paint for years and been pleased with results. Some of the expensive chalks are certainly great but costly for larger pieces. I’ve not used waxes much. I like the Dixie Belle top coat a lot which is costly but goes a long way. Several coats of top coat are very necessary for tops of pieces, otherwise won’t hold up to much use.

      @@gk2744 any paint will work. I have noticed a difference with the sheen types. I painted my daughters kitchen cabinets with a white eggshell and then sealed. They looked great 4 years later when they moved!

      We renovated the whole house using this method. But just a small correction when using on walls is to add lime or whitewash instead of plaster of Paris. Because plaster of Paris hardens fast and encourage mold growth. But whitewash reduce or even most of the time prevents the mold problem and regulates the humidity very well.

    • @coqonuttales393
      @coqonuttales393 3 роки тому +1

      And of course be very careful while handling whitewash !

    Lauren! I have been using this glaze for a while after watching this vid. I recently got a four piece set off FBMP for $125. I finished the night stands with the smoked glaze and had them listed for $250. Lady offered $200, came over to pick them up and saw I was working on the matching dressers. She offered me $800 for all four and paid me half in advance! WOW! Biggest sale to date!

May change just the top for a contrast.. the top has stained and I tried in vain to get them out… please any help… however I don’t do heavy sanding or stripping…🤷🏼‍♀️just easy peasy stuff😁‼️ thank You much 😁

    Upon unboxing, I was immediately upset at how the rails were very noticeably bent. But I kept going, all tools needed to assemble were included ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxqtX4Dxs6aecAZEuz6GY5-d81YecKCshn and I had it set up in about 30 minutes. Honestly I love this thing, make sure to read the measurements and measure your space so you know if it'll work for you. I bought this to put inside my closet, underneath where I hang my clothes and it is absolutely perfect! It is VERY sturdy and all drawers glide easily and mine are stuffed, and they are still flush when closed.

    You can save money on your chalk paint by using primer first then it does not take as many coats of the chalk paint that is double the price of primer. It also gives your paint a better surface for your paint to adhere to. You do a great job and I admire you.

Love what you’re doing and the great example you are to others :-) One tip you might be interested in regarding the use of your clamps is to use a block of wood between both ends of the clamp (it displaces the pressure being applied) so as not to dent the piece with the clamp. My husband is a finish carpenter and always uses that technique ;-) Blessings~

    I like how you guys work in flip flops and sliders. Low stress XD Please continue to be careful with that though. Accidents can happen pretty quickly!

    When I saw you lift the dresser without taping the drawers closed my stomach did a flip flop right when the drawers came crashing out!!! Those drawers slide very easily being so light, I always tape those ones closed. I've had them fall out on a sharp turn going down the road..lol.
    Great flip..thanks for explaining the top technique. Cha- ching🤑🤑

      We have a good supply of straps. Every time I drag my husband out to pick up one of my new found furniture treasures, he straps all the drawers closed. He also straps the furniture in place in the truck bed. It definitely keeps me from freaking out. 😂

    I’m not one to shy away from particle board either. It can be beautiful when it’s dolled up!
    I’d rather work on those than waste them. I mean, why not? I have used the stain glaze too-love it!

    I give you a lot of credit for really diving into doing this important 'side hustle' to lower your student load payment. so many young people are expecting to be bailed out, or they just default on it, which is unacceptable. You give good example of being industrious AND you are learning a new skill.

    What a talent! And what a work ethic and determination. Your family must be so proud. As a retired educator, I hope the student debt was worth it. (?) I can’t help thinking that if the proceeds were put into a down payment for a property, you could get a roof over your head and maybe some income from a lodger ... and keep doing your flips. And maybe apply your amazing skills into your property.... Are you allowed to defer payment of your student loan without incurring interest? You have the mindset to overcome! God bless all your endeavours !
