MANPADs are a necessity with mountainous warzones....distributed smaller Air defense system are difficult for enemies to detect and target...their unmatched mobility make them even more lethal. For short range MANPADs are the best solution also amazing option against loitering munitions.

Mobility for air defence system ayein ? ... if there are less than 8 missile then its not good solution...better to mount on big truck and have 40-60 interceptors,
These systems will be used along with armour. So you need mobility. Terrain will not be always your friend. I'm sure they'll keep missiles in reserve to replace interceptor from launcher quickly.
@@james4807M its drone kill solution it always be deployed in border area and saturrated attack mainly from pakistan due there is no big mountains .. for mobility we have helicopter, aircraft and many more
@@theintrovert894it's man portable not for borders. It will be used in short range. For the border we have other systems such as Akash, spider, mrsam. This system have range of just 7-8km. So it will use with armour. Along with systems like QRsam and other legacy systems. You don't need 40 launchers you can keep spare missiles.

See buddy, when the question comes of swarm attack, close-in weapon systems are used with fragments based shells. Now mostly swarms comes in a group of 10-15 or even more to attack, so when this close-in systems detects them, they starts firing this fragment based shells on them which scatter in a big area taking down several drones in swarm at ones.Talking about this VSHORAD, it's an air defence against low flying targets, it's not for swarm attack but for low flying drones and helicopters.

I don't know why no one has thought about a low-tech solution to neutralizing drones. Given that drones are relatively slow-moving objects, we can send another drone to get close to the target drone and drop a net on it, spray some glue on it, or disable a propeller. The anti-drone drone will need to be at least as fast as the target drone and be autonomous enough to zero in on a target drone or sacrifice itself to bring down the target drone.
Economically not viable. The anti drone drone will have to more sophisticated than target drones. So, it will cost higher than the drone being shot down. Also, India has already acquired both hard kill and soft kill systems for anti-drone warfare.

Time is a factor when procurement of any defence hardware. It the procurement time is long ( in case of all indigenous system - as the supply chain is not yet matured), then some system is being acquired under emergency procurement so that the defence capabilities is not sacrificed.
