I hope you all enjoyed! This is a much less talked about character from the lore that's extremely important. Being a head of NetWatch, fair and just, AND talented? Magnificent Curtis has definitely earned his reputation. Let me know all your thoughts down below and have a great week chooms!
I'd like to see a basic breakdown of cyberpunk for beginners lol with general information so they can play having to explain all the back story anytime someone ask about it is very tedious tho fun I can't spill all of that shit in a single sitting I have to much ADHD so this would be helpful choom!!
With the help of the Relic and Alt, V is the only person I know that was able to travel pass the Blackwall and return unaltered.. in the PL DLC once finished you get a little extra information from Alt about Songbird.. and the way Alt describes it, Songbird merely just touched the Blackwall and look what started to happen to her.. So once that line of defense is gone, I think it's safe to assume everyone is doomed.
It's not that no-one came back unaltered. Most Corpos that are poking the other side have netrunners that scout for useful AIs and tech. Data transfer is not instant beyond the Blackwall. The old net runs on half a century old infrastructure. Rouge AI takes time to notice you. If you are powerful enough netrunner only the super AI will be a threat to you.
@@khanch.6807 That’s not how the cannon explains it, It’s much more vague leading to unknown. They went for Lovecraftian inspiration for what’s beyond the Blackwall, Explaining it in any detail defeats the purpose
Magnificent Curtis was respected and highly regarded by both bartmoss and spider Murphy that says a lot alone Rache bartmoss hated all corporations and corpo for their corruption and crimes but Curtis was the exception
The way its all set up i think they will there's just too many mysterious stuff with the net an AI not to dive in. Would love to see Rache an Murphey make an appearance.
I'm 100% confident that orion main narrative will be about the start of the 5th corporate war but that will just be the beginning and sort of a narrative smokescreen for the true plot, the fall of the blackwall and subsequent ai invasion
Ive binged damn near all of these recently. I love the lore of this game and the Cyberpunk universe. I had no idea it existed until word of its release a few years back. Looking forward to more lore.
@@LayedBackGamers that’s what surprises me too. NetRunning by all public should largely be considered illegal due to the severity of the implications. Maybe NetWatch with the help of the government developed Braindances to keep people offline. The next Cyberpunk title will have to address the threat beyond the Blackwall.
Love your lore videos. Out of all the corps in the cyberpunk universe, NetWatch is the only corp I actually respect. Even Johnny Silverhand sided with NetWatch over the Voodoo boys.
Wow! First we have Morgan Blackhand as a gentleman Solo and now we have Magnificent Curtis showing us the good side of netrunning and at least one aspect of Netwatch. I wonder what paragons of Night City exist in the other roles and who they are?
I’d love to see him in the sequel somehow, even if he’s super old or is shoe-horned plot wise. Granted that Rouge is 80 committing (maybe justified) terrorism, Blackhand is still kicking at over 100, The Arasakas are all nearing 100 (except Saburo) and Militech’s founder only dies recently at 142, I’m sure chronologically speaking he could be alive.
Regarding Bryce Mosley, I think it is very likely NetWatch agents use a common alias while in meatspace, only really using their runner tags while on the net. This way if they get killed in the field, no one can know for sure if they got the runner they wanted, and even if they did, imagine the panic that would ensue when a second Bryce Mosley shows up and is just as good, if not better than the last one!
Yeah, but with the introduction of the tech from PL, who's to say who that Netwatch agent really is. I like the idea of it possibly being Curtis, but honestly, if it were really him, I highly doubt Mamon's puny outfit would have given him much challenge. The runner we meet in PL pretty much confirms that Briggite is a fool leading a group of idiots that can barely qualify as competent Netrunners. The only reason why the VDB give Netwatch so many issues is because they built their own custom network that's vigilant against outside infiltration efforts. The net they built was basically specifically designed to prod the Black Wall for weaknesses while barring access from the general Net. But seeing as how Curtis is basically on par with Rache, I doubt it'd give him much trouble to crack their encryption and shut them down if he really thought they were a threat. Honestly, the ONLY reason they got as far as they did is because of the Relic. If it weren't for the Relic, they would have been stuck at the Black Wall forever. Because they're idiots.
Glad you're enjoying them choom! I'm glad I've starting honing in more on lore videos, it's something I always wanted to do but focused on theories for a long time. Still got some of those planned as well though!
@@LayedBackGamers I think a healthy dose of both would be awesome, there are a bunch of theories out there, and with Phantom Liberty out, there are a bunch more, for instance, if you take the Canto or Erebus with you during the "Don't Lose Your Mind" gig, there'll be some dialog from it (Not a lot, just like a couple of lines), pretty much confirms that Delamain comes from the Blackwall (As heavily implied by one of the computers in the facility). All the same, keep up the awesome work, you have the right voice for it, you got the right pacing too! Can't wait for more content!

Considering how the expansion changed a lot of things, I would've guessed that everyone wants Johnny for the same reason, even Alt herself, and here we come to the endings, spoilers ahead. The best possible endings are V giving Alt the means to reach more space in Mikoshi and use Johnny as intended, probably to upgrade the black wall or to get rid of the rabids once and for all, the other endings are the worst possible scenario because it means either Militech or Arasaka got hold of Johnny to do the same thing, so V is literally a pen driver holding a nuke in his head. Also, I think the new ending is not exactly what it seems, I think V wasn't in coma for 2 years, it wouldn't walk as easy as showed, I think Militech used V and Johnny to reach beyond the black wall and took the implants so it renders their capabilities to do whatever they made them do, which I think is similar to what they did to Songbird, but this time they learned how to lock V out of the possibilities to do anything.

Well crap - I never found that rooftop - have to track it down this run. If it's not Brice - then... He still has to be an agent or the Voodoo Boys virus wouldn't have been able to attack all those other agents. My theory - he's not Brice. In the Bartmoss Brainware Blowout sourcebook, for the 2020 TTRPG, there is a program called Emergency Self Construct (ESC, get it?) that works in just that way, a self Soulkiller, so it's entirely possible.

Ok had no idea about Bryce’s body being found… honestly makes this quest very very intriguing (or at least more intriguing than it already is) Now I’m a Cyberpunk lore novice, so I’m not sure if this could even make sense, but what if “Bryce” (in this version the guy we see is not Bryce) is actually Rache Bartmoss? I remember a video talking about his possible survival However, one theory that actually popped in my head that makes sense is he could be an NUSA agent using the tech used to take the identities of people. We’ll probably never know though…
The most likely theory is that Rache is an AI floating around the net. In the original books, Rache had a program called the Emergency Self-Construct, which was essentially a "cheat death" button. Activating it would instantly hit you with Soulkiller and upload your engram to the net. It's more than likely Bartmoss set up this program as a dead man's switch to save himself.
