Thanks for taking the time to say those things. I've been doing this as a side business for 18 mos now (my son and I) as real life Hands-On business experience before he left for college to pursue a business degree. Paid him but I haven't paid myself yet. Plan was to replenish all my seed money first. Achieved that a couple weeks ago. Everything is paid off. Profit city now..... a new income stream for my family.
🤣 well heres a crazy story for ya then. I am an IT Director, make 6 figures and for the 3rd time in my career at no fault of my own I am on my ass again due to corporate yard birds and consultants. As hard as I work and as dedicated as I am I should have started my own business decades ago. Well Im 54 now and starting an exterior services business with my bobcat and pressure\soft washing rig, crazy right? zero fks here, I am tired of dealing with corporate ladder climbers, useless office people and folks with agendas, I just want to work. So I am embarking on a new venture and a new chapter professionally. I do all of this stuff and a lot more on my own time. I am a guitar luthier, musician, proficient in all construction, technology, I weld, do bobcat work, fix whatever so I figured why dont I just do what I like to do, so I am. Some people think I am bonkers and are giving me tons of sht. Why would you want to be a laborer, work outside, deal with customers, be sued, it is beneath you etc etc. My response, fk off hahaha I feel like being crazy and I am sick of corporate life. After I had a cardiologist visit due to stress Im like to hell with this. I can do 6 figures all by my self is my attitude so I am and I will. Thx for the vids bro.
I am in a similar boat my friend, 16 years in IT as a Sys/Net engineer.. 6 figures.. comfortable life with “zero” job security due to the companies I worked for being bought out by either competitors or investment groups…went from having the primary income for my family to having to use all savings to keep things afloat…overqualified for most positions and unqualified for these “ new positions” wanting everything from networking to programming with every cert in the book…while posting entry level salaries 🤦🏾♂️ I’m done. I refuse to let a company have that type of control over my life! Started my PW business a few months ago and it’s been hard to find a stable clientele, but I much rather earn based off of my efforts than my corporate value!!
I seem to have found my people here in this comment thread, 54, helping my 2 middle school sons start a PW biz from scratch because the marketplace doesn't value my particular set of a and a resume could never do it justice, and I like being able to do something that I have direct influence over vs. what others seem to think is good or right. Great to know I'm not alone and that a brotherhood of independent thinkers and doers still exists.
@@thedadnextdoor I feel like we escaped the matrix 😆, just have to be patient and let the business grow on our own…much more rewarding, and no middle man!
@@mranthutch 25 years in here, and 3rd time it happened to me. We paid off the house years ago, own everything we have, have some savings so me and the wifey said to hell with all that, time to do what we want to do now. Almost done building the rig and opening llc. I need to make 2500 per month just to pay the regular bills and thats it hahahaha. I think I can do this. I think we all can do this. So much dirty homes where I am but also a million washers. Great area to buy sht on marketplace tho. Every tom dik and harry wants to be a washer then doesnt.
Literally the video I needed. Wondering where my passion went and why it feels so monotonous. This gave me a little spark. I appreciate all you do Mike! Business advice, QuoteIQ, all the courses, etc. Your UA-cam channel has, in part, provided for my family and I really appreciate it.
Finally, someone out there like yourself is telling the truth how it to run a Pressure Washing business thank you my Mike.👍 Every one on UA-cam says it’s so easy and make millions of dollars. I hate it when I see it all the time on UA-cam myself. I have been running my business here in Australia for 13 years and it’s been a struggle for myself so I understand what it takes. Thanks mate. I think John from water attack from Australia 🇦🇺 is coming over to you guy’s to see Cody.
Great advice Mike, I made a lot of bad decisions when I first started my welding business and I still pay for it today. I always encourage people to start their own thing but it’s not for the faint of heart for sure. Thanks
I am ready , I recently started pressure washing business at 22 I wrote a 10 year plan of where I want to to be at month by month until I get to my 15 office across America goal .
I'm 65 and still chugging, but the light has finally gone on. I need to build my business so it is not a one-man job. I want a company I can sell. By trade, I am a professional handyman and sign installer. And now looking to have soft washing into my services. Now I need to get all the media stuff up.
I'm just getting started and this is so motivational for me. With this economy I might have to work 2 jobs but I'm all in and I can't give up. I have so much invested!!!!
The biggest lie I have heard is the price of sh 12.5% $9 dollars and up per gallon no matter how you buy it. I looked, and only household bleach you will find a 4.50 price point.at a low bleach content.
You would need to check with your local Unick to see what the requirements are. We do not need a contractors license per se in my area, but you need to have a license to run a business.
If you die well your just out of luck ,Well said .I live in AZ and i rarely ever see a pressure washing business or vehicle , and i have been driving around Phoenix for twenty years , I see them in a fuel islands or washing fleet vehicles ,but never have i saw anyone pressure washing a driveway ,or as far as residential washing goes . .
I know of some big pressure washing business in Arizona. Not a lot of organic growth because of the dry climate, but you nailed it. Fleets, Commercial, industrial

Where are you located?
So to start a pressure washing company we need a contractor license ?
You would need to check with your local Unick to see what the requirements are. We do not need a contractors license per se in my area, but you need to have a license to run a business.
You too smart man.
