I used to have a auto repair business and had the customer sign an appraisal prior to work preformed. If they did not want to pay I took out a halve page add in the newspaper twice a year with their names and amount owed. Got lots of complaints but got 75% of the bills paid. This was in the late 70 early 90's.
I call bs. People that actually go through something like that would just say they have been unwell and not go into detail at first. Guilty people go into detail and make excuses. I love how quick he was to take the handout. Your a good person and we need more people like you in this world with good hearts.
Well, people are pretty predictable. If you read a few books on human psychology, one thing you will learn is we all experience loneliness and some form of depression. That in turn means that most of us, given the opportunity and someone who genuinely wants to listen, will tell a story about what they went through and so on. Obviously this isn't everyone so don't expect a WWII or Vietnam vet to be a chatty Cathy about that time 3/4 of their platoon died. Mike does seem like a pretty good guy, but I am pretty sure he's also an asshole. I only say that because so am I, and we recognize our own.
Smh He did not go into that much detail and for a situation like this, why wouldn't you go into detail? If anything people who give very little explanation for what seems to be bad behaviour are the ones who are not to be trusted. My only skepticism that I have with this situation is the fact that he explained all of this after Mike had threatened him.
I feel Mike’s compassion. If the guy lied, that’s on the guy. Mike did what his gut told him to do and moved on. They both have to live with themselves.
That was great to give him the house wash, i did not see his story coming. I work in a hospital (at work as i type) and see this condition often and many people have to be put in restraints to keep them from causing harm to themselves….Your a good dude!
$1.00 or $300.00 doesn’t matter because it’s a matter of principle. All legal action will be taken and if I could charge him for my convenience I would.
My organs shut down before to so I know how much that sucks. My kidneys never came back & im still on dialysis, it’s good to see you have heart. Stay sharp brother ✊🏾🇺🇸
My worst experience so far with a customer was actually a realtor he contacted me to do some work on a house he was listing home owners we're blown away how the house turned out ...took me a whole damn month to get him to pay I ended up having to threaten him with small claims court before he finally paid .....what's really pissed me off is I quoted him 1200 and he charged the home owners 1600 put 400 in his pocket and was still trying to shit me ...smh some people right
Next time ask what title company or lender they are using. Underwriters require all invoices paid at closing. You can also call their broker. I hope that helps in the future.
My job I deal with folks that lie about everything and anything. 2 weeks in a coma, 2 weeks recovery? Thus debt was months old, every invoice was opened. I don't believe him, but will not criticize you on your decision, it is your business, your decisions. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors:)
You are a very good man and only someone In that situation could understand how certain situations feel. I believe God will bless you for your kindness. This was not a weird veto but a veto they should remind humanity about the importance of kindness and how it returns when you most need it. Blessings to you and your continued recovery.
I was on life support in 2006 and my bank forgave like 30 overdraft charges because I was not aware for 4 weeks of it. I was 21 and played college baseball at the time. I do things like this with my business about once a year but I don’t make a ton right now. It is great to be able to help people who really need it but also frustrating at the same time. I try to take payment before I leave or within 1 week because if this. So many commercial accounts don’t pay for over a month and I had to threaten a law suit with one big company to finally pay me 5 months later (only $1100 but still it wasn’t their stated net 30 lol).
After cross-checking his claim of hospitalizaton and finding it true, I'd do the same. Forgive a small bill, take payments on a large bill (ex $1000+). If paid timely, probably forgive last $200. However if he had lied, see you in small claims.
I think you would reach out to the customer and try to find out if there are any issues with paying. Reminding them they signed the customer agreement, stating there would be a late fee, and you really wouldn't want to do that. Let's set a date you can pay, and after that date, the fee will be added to his bill.
The high rollers are broke and will find any reason not to pay Get together and spread the word with others in the business You’ll have to stick together not to be played by the crooks 😊
This is why small business is the BEST business. You said you could see he was seeing these quotes - did he see any of the quotes at the time he was in the coma? If so, I would have had him explain how that's possible. Anyhow - if he's lying, God will sort it out, you did your part. You're the best~
I had a cabinet shop for 18 years and the jobs I did were probably a lot more money than what you usually deal with? I learned for my own business that contracts and how their written can make a huge difference on being paid in a timely manner. One thing I did being most the jobs I did the quotes were around or over $10,000.00 and it was required the customer paid half down before any materials were bought or work started. Balance was due upon completion. Customers got a 10% discount if they paid on time. Of course you got to handle the legal part when customers don’t want to pay their balance owed. Got to cover your rear end that customer will be responsible for all legal costs involving getting the debt paid that will be added to the overall cost of what’s owed? Believe it or not, in 18 years doing business, I only had one customer actually write me a bad check. Everyone else paid upon completion of their work without w problems. The person that wrote me the bad check over $10,000.00 just happened to be a lawyer believe it or not? Took me a couple months before I finally got my money. After all that, 2 years later I get a message on my answering machine from these same customers. Mind you with cabinetry work there’s legally only a one year warranty on all work and materials. Regardless, I had always helped out past customers regardless of the time that had past and taken care of whatever problems they had. In some cases their problems ended up being other issues that had nothing to do with my work, but I still take care of their issues with no charge anyway. Back to this customer message telling me she had some screws come loose in some hinges. It’s rare but does happen from time to time. I was all ready to call them up and set up a time to go fix their loose hinge screws. Most people could just tighten their screws them selves! But still not a big deal for me to do it. Before I could call them, I get another message from the same customer right after their first message telling me about their loose screws. Second message they tell me if I’m not out there to fix their loose screws within the next hour their going to sue me! Needless to say they had no leg to stand on trying to file a lawsuit. Regardless the threat passed me off to say the least . Decided right then I wasn’t going to do anything for them. I ignored both their messages. Customer actually had the nerve to come to my business and threaten me again. I told them, you know I have customers call me from time to time that’s has a problem and I go out and fix whatever it is regardless how long ago I did their job. In some cases what’s wrong had nothing do with my job but I fixed it for the customer anyway at no cost. You would of gotten the same service until you made the mistake of threatening me with a law suit expecting me to drop everything I’m doing and run to your house to fix some loose screws! First of all your over a year past the warranty, but if you been a nice descent person I would of gladly fixed the loose screws. Since you decided to be nasty and threatening, you lost getting any help from me. Again they start they can file this and that law suit and I just told them to go do it and leave my property now! Naturally I never heard from them again! Typical for some lawyers that think they can threaten and scare people into doing whatever they want them to do? They found out this time their threats cost them greatly!
Most of our commercial multi family jobs are between $25 and $75k. - apartment communities mostly. Different contracts than residential where the average ticket is $750+
Yeah, most the time I just get ghosted. Yeah it sucks no matter how much money it is. It still takes a lot of time to chase after it while you’re already chasing after the incoming money. Less to claim on your taxes.
When customers don't pay me I put a lien on there house with out warning after 60 days , if they don't pay the lien I just wait till they try to sell and demand the lien
I would say only if something catastrophic happened between accepting your quote and you finishing the job, there is no excuse. For example, if the individual or an immediate family member had a heart attack or another extreme medical emergency, or if the pipes in the house burst or the roof blew off, those would qualify. Other than that, pay your bill on time. If, and only if, something like the above happened, work it out, and make payments, but again pay your bill.
Hey Mike how do I suggest a change for QuoteIQ? I use it for my handyman business and was wondering if you could make it so you can tie an expense to an existing invoice. Or add an expense in your invoice separate. So the customer can see what was labor and what was material (optional) and so I can better track my profits and what I spent on material. Thanks!
@@AllAboutPressureWashing Well I was meaning have it optional. Obviously pressure washing businesses don’t need this unless they really wanted to be extra. But for a handyman it helps to track expenses for certain jobs and material by being able to link the expense to a job/invoice. With the option to show it to customers on the invoice if wanted. I know quoteiq was made with the pressure washer/detailed in mind but it’s amazing for all types of contract work. This is just one thing I’d personally like added. (: thanks for taking the time to reply
If a client don't pay then they need to be put on the Hall of Shame list and say these are the people that are no longer welcome to do business with us.

I've been thinking of different things to do, and really struggled with how hard it could be to start any kind of business. But doesn't american care about its citizen's ? Nearly every other developed country(like Australia) has universal healthcare. No matter how I hurt myself I would have to pay $0.
You can't fix irresponsible grown adults. If they agree to your terms, they made a contract. I would sue because you can't fix idiots. You did great, they have lost a great service. You as adults have a responsibility to PAY YOUR BILLS THAT YOU OWE. i WOULD also hit their credit. Bottom line, it is and is not about the money but the fact they made a contract with you. I do not understand why people agree to the service, get the service and all of a sudden for whatever excuse can't, wouldn't pay. I would make him your example. Follow through and make him pay.
Number one the customer should have filled out a credit card and been pre-approved before you showed up and unloaded the hoses. Pay up front or no work will be performed, this is not rocket surgery!
50% before I start, and the balance due afterwards. Sign here. But I have an appointment and need to leave, okay, then let's reschedule and I'll return when possible. But... Sorry, you must be here as that's our POLICY.
I remember building a 2 mile squared fence with two other guys when I was 16-17 years old the owner refused to pay us for the work which was magnificent level and installed properly this was over $37,500 dollars post and rail fence I was just a helper but the guy I worked for when stark Raving mad on this guy he was even arrested as soon as he got out of jail he took a crew and removed half that fence in 3 hours 😂 he was arrested again but he put the homeowner on blast online apparently this home owner has ripped off electrical workers plumbers brick masons lawn service and his house was in foreclosure he was trying to upgrade and sell the place with out paying anyone my boss sued the guy but got nothing and he lost all that money he put out to build the fence . The home owner ended up getting arrested for fraud and the home was foreclosed by the bank and the new owners ended up paying to have the fence put back up beings half was already erected so he ended up making a profit and being made whole again I’m not sure about he other gentleman who did work on the house .
His medical situation sounds unfortunate, if true. It has been about 3 months and he accounts for a total of a month in the hospital. I bet that didn't happen a day or two following the service though. Sounds like a rook. My bet is you work out a payment plan to hopefully collect your money over maybe not ever seeing a dime. But you may also express your frustration to him. LOL EDITED: You have shared that in the past with what happened to you. That is a standup thing to do and says a lot about your character. Honestly i thought you were going to stay you found out it was all lies. HAHA. So I was wrong. But as your shorts followers would say you are still just a scammer. LOL
@@AllAboutPressureWashing LOL these keyboard warriors don’t know people at all and just love to run their mouth. Again very admirable and that may honestly lead to more word of mouth as an alternative approach would have. 👊
I would assume that he would come up with an excuse about the work not be in acceptable or I cheated and heard something about the hospital. It’s either money family or I forgot. People are on believable today. It’s just like women modern women are not marriage material.
Hey Mike was wondering if you could give me hands on training I’m wanting to start my own pressure washing business in Texas I’m willing to make the drive and work for free just really want to learn and get hands on experience from the best
MIKEV you really helped inspire my start in pressure washing over 1 year ago. Today we're going strong, with 5 top ranking websites, ranked top 3 in our area & giving back to our community any way we can :) Appreciate you, my man.
I would say, Sir I understand your situation and can sympathize with everything your going through, However, my bills refuse to stop coming in and my guys love to get paid on time for the work they do. So HELL no there isn’t a payment plan, payment do today or I will take yo momma hostage. P.S sorry for the bag of dog shit in your mailbox - payment due today… I hope you are doing well though.

Why does the customer need that information?
@@AllAboutPressureWashing Well I was meaning have it optional. Obviously pressure washing businesses don’t need this unless they really wanted to be extra. But for a handyman it helps to track expenses for certain jobs and material by being able to link the expense to a job/invoice. With the option to show it to customers on the invoice if wanted.
I was wrong
Business is Business and its hard being human
Roughly how much does QIQ cost? Thanks
There is a free version but also multiple other options with additional features. MyQuoteIQ.com has all the info
Number one the customer should have filled out a credit card and been pre-approved before you showed up and unloaded the hoses. Pay up front or no work will be performed, this is not rocket surgery!
🤣🤣🤣
After hearing your comment at the end part of the video I agree with. You you did the right thing?
Whether the story he gave was true or not, a lot of time passed before his illness!!
True but not sure when he got sick - and trust me- from experience - lots of stuff goes on when you are completely
Out of the picture for a month
I send contracts payment due on completion if it’s commercial I receive at least cost to me lol no one wants to lose money
I'm gonna guess... That you put a lean on the house.
But judging by the comments, something happened and you shown empathy.
Yup
Bogus, he opened the notices every month, never reached out.
You fell for that one 😅
Nah
I would have still got my money. My father passed away, and we had to pay 50k out of his estate for his debts.
50% before I start, and the balance due afterwards. Sign here.
But I have an appointment and need to leave, okay, then let's reschedule and I'll return when possible.
But...
Sorry, you must be here as that's our POLICY.
Not when you are busy and have a fully loaded schedule. I can't run a business based on when someone else will be home.
You can collect your fee upfront.
Name and shame these people. Get paid before you do the job.
Wow!!
👊🏻
LOL
Total scammer 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@AllAboutPressureWashing LOL these keyboard warriors don’t know people at all and just love to run their mouth. Again very admirable and that may honestly lead to more word of mouth as an alternative approach would have. 👊
@@jeffwilliams6101 not trying to promote my Wash business on this channel but it gets eyeballs
@@AllAboutPressureWashing Yeah I was referring more to this customer speaking good of you in the end and passing the name maybe.
I’m putting all of my savings into my business and for me failure is not a option
Love to hear the drive but that isn't something we offer at this time. Beat of luck to you.
Best
I new what you were going to do.
You believed him and told him to forget about the payment and wished well upon him?
Hey… I was spot on. I’m new to your channel. This is my second or third video I think. You seem nice 👍🏼 Good response and good luck dude!
I had a client who happened to be a lawyer buck up on a $3,500.00 invoice.
Took her to court and spanked that ass;)
I will put a lien on the property
worst ad placement ive ever seen was into the video but that was horrible stopped watching
Did you want a link to buy?
MIKEV you really helped inspire my start in pressure washing over 1 year ago. Today we're going strong, with 5 top ranking websites, ranked top 3 in our area & giving back to our community any way we can :) Appreciate you, my man.
You should say yes I’ll take the $50 don’t be a nice guy and get lied to and just lose all 300
I am sure you have valid things to say but I immediately discounted anything you had to say based on your shirt.
I understand, fashion is very important.
Nice shoes🎉 feeling the color but are they a certain type for work or just comfort and uniform?😅
They are HUKS, it's what the guys like to wear. I buy them whatever they want
If it's true ... let it slide becouse it's good business and he will give referrals 😅
Hell no!!!!
To many snakes in the world. If he’d produce a hospital bill. I would do what you did.
His whole story was a lie, in my opinion.
I don't think so but if it was.... it was well worth $300
