From participating in these funeral details it is a solemn duty, but it really didn't hit me until my Dad's service, taps, the gun salute and the flag all hit hard. Rest in peace SSgt King.
My boyfriend friend served in the Army during the Iraqi war and the two he considered being the hardest part about it all was telling the families about their love one’s passing away in combat and presenting the flag at funerals. For those of you who lost love ones in combat may they Rest In Peace.
And People who haven't felt loss, who haven't cried.. STILL feels entilted to demonstrate the ones who are not here anymore. FUC..K war.. but not those fighting for all of US.
Was coordinated by the USAF Seymour Johnson AFB. Taps was played before presenting the flag. When the Sgt was holding the flag to his chin awaiting the end of Taps before presenting it to our mother.
The military honors were the most difficult part of my husband's funeral. I treasure his flag.
