Lyrics:
Don't you know that I danced, I danced till a quarter to three
With the help, last night, of Daddy G
He was swingin on the sax like a nobody could
And I was dancin' all over the room
Oh, don't you know the people were dancin' like they were mad
It was the swingin'est band they had, ever had
It was the swingin'est song that could ever be
It was a night with Daddy G
Let me tell you now
I never had it so good
Yeah and I know you never could
Until you get hip with that jive
And take a band like the Church Street Five
Oh don't you know that I danced
I danced till a quarter to three
With the help last night of Daddy G
Everybody was as happy as they could be
And they were swingin with Daddy G
Blow Daddy!
Let me tell you now
I never had it so good
Yeah and I know you never could
Until you get hip with that jive
And take a band like the Church Street Five
Oh don't you know that I danced
I danced till a quarter to three
With the help last night of Daddy G
He was swingin on the sax like a nobody could
And I was dancin all over the room
Oh don't you know the
Dance, do bee wa dah
Dance, do bee wah dah
You can dance, do bee wah dah
You can dance, dance, dance

My sister said I had to go with her to see this guy, Springsteen, play at the Main Point outside of Philly. I think Greetings had just come out so it was early 1973. I hadn't heard of him, but she dragged me there and we wound up sitting maybe 10' from the tiny stage in the front row. David Sancious and Mad Dog were still with him and he blew the roof of the little place. Life time memory.
Sancious ♥️
Clarence had a set of lungs, man. He wailed that sax riff and didn't even look like he was trying.
My God, if we only had the ability to go back in time , this concert is where I'd go.
And me...
We're in three guys
Yesssss! Me tooooo!
What's even more impressive is that this is considered one of his lesser concerts.
Same
Cannot believe that the film-maker didn't once catch Max in the middle of those monstrous drum breaks!!
There has never been a second when rock and roll was better than this…just amazing.
This is real rock and roll
I don't want the end of these Hammersmith videos.
We still miss you, Clarence.
This is supposedly the show that Peter Gabriel, recently departed from Genesis, attended. Afterwards, he said it was the 2nd greatest concert he'd ever seen, 2nd only to Otis Redding.
The music arrangements, lyrics, etc. are so good that even a bad cover is great!!!
The guy playing the sax is fantastic.!!!😄😆😁😇🤩😍
There were two shows at the Hammersmith that November in 75. and somehow I ended up at both concerts. You just knew you were watching something special. There is an argument that the second show was even better - they just released it on nugs so you can listen and compare.
I can confirm that the second is even better. I recommend listening to this one first though.
Six years later,in 1981,Bruce wrote "This Little Girl" which was the comeback hit for Gary "U.S" Bonds-Bruce does an awesome job on "Quarter To Three" BTW.
Yes, it's called paying one's due, or knowing where you come from. You rarely see such honesty…
Once in a life time a group of guys got together , they love each other and love rockin roll, they are called Bruce the boss Springsteen and e street band! we are blessed to have them, keep on rockin boss!
He is great but I wish I could go back in time to see him then in a smaller venue
You will always and forever be my very favorite band of all time
Awesome performance, greatest rock n' roll show on earth.
We had so much fun at concerts then. Heaven would be going back to those times
This is almost 50 years ago.
Saw Bruce play this at the headliner and other clubs B4 he became Famous!
Bruce and the guys OMG the Good ol Days making me Feel a little a Little Old. Go on Forever Bruce!!! Long Live the Boss!!!💞😘😎💥😎😍💖
My 1st concert ever The Born In The USA Tour , Fri 9/13/1985 Cotton Bowl , Dallas TX. Have not had that much since that night. Thanks guys.
That tour was as important as when the Beatles played America. His version of "Jungle Land" was a goog as Mahler's EIghth.
the best live concert i have ever seen bar none
It's amazing to think that there are reports that his next concert in London the week after was even better than this one
I just listened to both, and I agree that the next one is even better.
@@danielfolk5266 Ooooh where does one find the audio on the next one?
@@ExileOnDaytonStreet you can actually buy it from his website, or just click on this link

Now that is when Bruce was Bruce!
He was amazing back then. He still is amazing now.
Grande Boss
Absolutely love this 😍
At 3:03 the band is rocking and some of the audience is loving it
I was 15 when this concert took place and too young back then to go, or even know it was happening. But had I done so, it would have changed my life by making me realise to do what makes you happy in life before anything else...
My absolutly favorit concert :))) merciii for loading all that. ESB sound soooo awesome :-)

Mon dieu que c'est bon❤️
" Veramente" TUTTI PAZZI...Ma Eccezionali.😄😃👍✌️💗💋👄
I like the way he looks like Bob Marley from certain close-camera angles all over the whole Hammersmith footage. For me THIS is Bruce Springsteen, the guy with the beard and the energy and the attitude, clean shaven Muscle-Stadium-Bruce under them synthesizer fanfares....well...
But nevertheless, Nebraska is his finest album, hands down. Shivers. For this one, forget about the facial hair blah blah.
Transformational ❤
I couldve sworn there was a 15 minute version of this song from this concert
Is that maybe from the next date at Hammersmith Odeon a few days later?
@@fang_uk oh it might be. On the cd it's like 11 or 15 minutes long, so the album might be a compilation of multiple sets from hammersmith
@@Tanner.Bananner I’m no Springsteen aficionado, I’m just starting my journey into exploring his catalog now, but I’ve seen a few others mention about a second show and thought I’d pay it forward!
@@fang_uk I'm glad you did because I think that's the case with this concert. A lot of artists have done the same thing with live albums, they're basically compilations of different sets from a tour or one locations put into a cd. So what we see on the film of this concert isn't all the same as what's on the CD. But luckily this film has some great performances too, especially The E Street Shuffle and Tenth Avenue Freeze Out
Nice hat collection :)
😍🎶🎵👏
This is R'N'R babe !!
Que capo Bruce
Just my own personal weirdness, but I see this band dressed up here and then I look at the photo on the back cover of The Wild, The Innocent & The E Street Shuffle. A bit of a disconnect. And then there's Clarence - seeing him playing and dancing at the end of this song and you definitely see the athlete who got an NFL tryout. But for a car accident and we may never have heard this magnificent artist.
👏👏👏💓
Absolutely cookin'
BTW Gary U.S. Bonds sometime in the 60's. I can't remember it was a long time ago, first 45 I ever bought,
Please play this in Rome 2023❤
Oi meu amor Bom dia! Lindo ♥, te amo namorado @springsteen!!
Ma Bruce!! Nonna caldo con quel berretto di lana??😂😅😀😍😘
🌹👏🏽🌹👏🏽🌹👏🏽
Mi correggo non ha caldo !
Ada yg punya versi The Beatles?
""No mi piace di più PUFFO**😅😆😉
At the time Bruce considered this concert his worse performance ever. Twenty years later he conceded it wasn't bad at all.
Cover of Gary US Bonds hit.
This was his PRIME YEARS... Unknown... and free. Amazing. Sad he kinda sold out to Pop to make money.
* 🤓🤭 PISOLO **🤪
