Its better in the Nebraska format, or the pumping eights. Too many people involved and it loses its omph.

@@bradmagnuson6963 Disagree 100%. Nebraska is perfection in every way. Here the lyrics are lost in the over-instrumentation and the noise. These bands that Bruce has with 15 people on stage are overkill. All my humble opinion. I would love to see him tour with a piano player, a drummer and a bass player.

I love how Bruce reworked this tune with this group. This version is one of my favorite Bruce tunes now.
I grew up in New Jersey years ago and Bruce is absolutely right. The turnpike is extremely spooky at night. A bit like a lunar landscape

I remember listening to this when it first came out on CD. I was five years old. Yea, that's right, I'm young as all hell. But years and years later I got to see Bruce live during the wrecking ball tour. My dad got us GA tickets and we got lucky enough to be right up on the stage. One of the nights (I went to several concerts during that tour), the night we were up front, he played this song with his HUGE E Street-Sessions hybrid band. The moment I heard that piano riff begin was probably most exciting moment of my life. It almost brings me to tears to think that these types of moments can't last forever, but it's reassuring that they've been saved for us so we can experience Bruce's magic for the rest of his days, our days, and the infinite days to come.
Know that feeling brother, mine was modern J99 at 21 tried commiting, song saved my life, I had debts no honest man could pay, bank was holding my mortgage, coming to take my house away, now I ain't saying that makes me an innocent man, it was all this and more judge that put that gun in my hand

The coolest thing about the man known as thee Boss is how he creates a memory when you see him live especially the first time and the happiness he shares on stage is like no other and it’s amazing how much his music is influential on my personality every time I’ve seen him i have always left with an everlasting memory that when needed always puts a smile on my face no matter thank you Bruce

I have been a fan since 1975 (I was 7!😳)
Grew up on Long Island and back then, it kinda mattered what your nationality was or which ethnic group you “belonged” to. When I found out Bruce was Italian, Irish, and Dutch and that my ancestry was the same, I always imagined him being like a big brother to me.

I've been a fan of Springsteen since the Born To Run Album. This is handsdown his best live arrangement ever! Better than "Rosalita" and "Growin' Up" from the "Live" album. Better than the epic "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" anthem. BETTER THAN THEM ALL! I want this version played at my funeral.
