yeah KISSs show was cnstant. watching vids. i feel they had too much to look at that it was obviously to distract from paul. half a line live then tape kicked in on close to last show. and in AUS where i live they play SHANDI and it was so beautiful and exact concert to concert it was obviously tape. anyway i loved em they saved me as a youth. peace man
My worst Metal concert was way back in winter of 1984 - Armored Saint, Metallica, and WASP. AS and WASP were fine, but Hetfield was soooooooooo intoxicated that he played about 2 to 3 bars behind the rest of the band for the entire show...
Late last year there was a double-header tour for Def Leppard and Motley Crue here in Australia. Def Leppard rocked hard and performed out of their skins, but Motley Crue were a case study in what a lifetime of excess and substance abuse looks like at 60+. The two halves of the show were like night and day sadly.
Same thing here in Colombia. Joey Elliot spent the night before the concert at a hospital due to altitude sickness (Bogotá is located right above a high mountain) The next day, him and the rest of Def Leppard were just perfect. Unfortunatelly, that was not the case for the Crue, the mos dissapointing gig I have ever been.
I saw maiden at Manchester, UK about a month after you saw them. Watching footage from concerts before I saw them, I was worried they'd lost their touch. When Manchester came round they were on point. Bruce's vocals sounded awesome. Nicko was faster and throwing his fills back in. Band chemistry was there. It's sad that not all concerts were like that, but they definitely redeemed themselves as the tour went on
Yes I saw that also watching some later gigs that luckily they got it together. And it makes perfect sense that here they were not at their best considering what was going on before with Nicko. Thanks for watching.
I think it's odd they wouldn't have mentioned it in shows to say, "Hey, Nicko had a stroke but he's doing it here!" That would have gotten the audience behind him and they'd know why things weren't the same.
saw them in 86 and in 23. these guys are amazing. the only showing of age is that steve harris doesn't play phantom of the opera anymore. not like there's still 100 good songs to choose from. vince neil could learn a lot from bruce "it needs more cowbell" dickinson! how to never disrespect the music you've created.
@@metalandrockzoneMy favorite band has always been BOC and they still sounded great until around 2021. It pains me to say that the last two times I saw them they sounded tired and like they needed to retire. So I can appreciate your video.
Each to their own. but I would no longer pay to see bands I adored in the 70s, 80s and early 90s - they are just too old, particularly if they've lived the rock'n'roll life. I'm not saying that many of them can't still make music, I'm just stuck in a time warp with Sabbath, Priest and Maiden and that's how I want to remember them. Thanks for the vid.
Yes this thought sometimes pops up in my head and of course I would like to see these bands in their prime, but being that I live the first 32 years of my life in Iceland then there was a very rare event that any band came there so I was very late to the party. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
@@lisasmokette6511 I guess I am, but we all miss the joys of our youth - I miss surfing right up until I see a news story about a shark attack. Granted, not so common at a music festival ;}
Age doesn't really change if the performences are good or not that much. Especially in Metal. Lots of old Thrash and Death Metal acts are still amazing live (e.g. Sodom,Cannibal Corpse and even Judas Priest).
We saw Ugly Kid Joe in an extremely small venue, max capacity was 750 people I believe. They absolutely went to town in there and the the sound mix and the band were amazing. I absolutely love these small gigs and bands like Ugly Kid Joe give these struggling local music venues such a boost. Amazing to see the band do this.
Their new album is pretty good, they surprised me with that one. I would love to see them live now as I believe what you are saying, I think they can really rock it. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
@@metalandrockzone The super band Mr.Big also... UKJ, Extreme and Mr.Big are komercial metal/hard rock banda with amazing quality. I'm more hard and heavy rock, heavy metal, HC/street punk (New York), theash and death metal man... ZZ Top, AC/DC, Motorhead, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden (Di'Anno), Accept, Agnostic Front, Sick of it All, Slayer, Overkill, Obituary, Possessed...
I was at the first Maiden gig in Praga, and I really enjoyed it! I could see that there were a few things going on that I'd never seen at Maiden gigs before, like a brief period where I could hear that the band weren't playing together, but they were doing hard music, and we know the situation with Nicko. I was just made up to see them again, and loved the gig. My nine-year-old son was with me, and he loved it as well. The main issue I had was the boring crowd; as I was with my son I was in the seats, and around me people stayed sat down when the Maiden came on, and around me no-one sung along!
Yes there was something off there I felt, I saw them at Sinobo stadium the summer before and then they were amazing and the crowd was very much switched on there. I am sure that the fact that Nicko had this problem sort of infected the whole band and from there to the crowd because I didn't feel that Bruce got people going on this concert. Thanks for watching.
Yeah maybe. I gather indeed that the crowd was much more up for it later in the tour. I also saw somewhere a clip of the band, where Adrian was giving Nicko a dirty look and didn't play for a few bars...@@metalandrockzone
Yes 2023 was sort of the second wave the dam break after the years before, anyone who hadn't been able to tour 2020-2022 went out. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
So Nicko had a damned stroke 2 weeks before the gig and STILL went out there any tried to play? We have no right talking about fills, missed spots, etc. The fact that he could even hold sticks is phenomenal .
Totally agree, the guy could have taken a break or retired but he kept on going, all propst to him for that. But the gig was still bad, there was something very much off there. Thanks for watching.
didn't you say it was the 2nd show of the tour? it's damn normal for a band to have to shake off the rust from 35 year old songs and brand new ones that were never played live on the first few shows of a tour. Can't compare that to Kiss and Motley Shit being all around crap, not just the first days and without having strokes. Mick Mars being an exception, but he's always cool@@metalandrockzone
I feel Maiden's problem was that they simply did not rehearse properly. The first 3 weeks was a rehearsal. People said to me first couple of shows are always a warm up. Well then, call them tour previews and set the tickets at a lower price range. Like you a fan for 40 years. Was a tough bite to swallow.
Actually this is something I heard elsewhere before as well, I have never seen them this early on a tour before so that probably played a role as well. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
I love Nicko, he's ace! Glad I stumbled upon your channel. I've watched a few vids and I have subscribed. We have the same taste exactly. Na zdravi from Scotland!
Saw Motley this summer in El Paso. Seen them many times since the Girls tour in '87. I get what everyone is saying but both Crue and Def Leopard had the Sun Bowl packed and it was an amazing time. Everyone was having fun. Looking back I am glad I went. Hopefully 2024 will see some amazing Metal shows here in Texas.
Yes the gig here was with Def Leppard as well and it was fun, a lot of fun but Motley were bad even though the songs were fun. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
I wish people had seen motley crue on their Girls girls Girls Tour. They went off when i saw them. One of the best shows ive ever been too. Tommy lee in the spinning drum cage doin a 15 minute solo during his solo performance time . And saw Guns and Roses opening before they ever had a music video on mtv. We had never heard of them before the show. The were still uknown. You just had to be there. Motley Crue at 1 time was one of the best Crowd engaging shows you could possibly be at. The late 80s had the best gutarist ever at their peaks.
I saw GGG tour. Pretty amazing, but I think Carnival of sins may have been the best of the 31 times I've seen them. But after the stadium tour, I won't see them again. Terrible.
That was 87-88 right? That was the Crue at their prime some 37 years ago!!! Problem is you see a band all these years later (secretly dreaming of the same and a chance to relive the glory days) but it never goes down the same. Not in my experience anyway.
I was there! Man, it didn't take long for GNR to go from warm up band to sell out headliners. They were absolutely blowing everyone off the stage back then. Last time I saw Crue was when Whitesnake opened for them. Both killed it that night.
Yes I saw a lot of videos from later gigs on the tour and it got better and better. Super happy to see that as I hope we can enjoy this band for some more years.
Bit harsh on maiden we saw them later on the tour and it was brilliant! Nico has done bloody well to recover as quickly as he did many others would have quit or cancelled.
Agree, the easy route would have been to retire or sit this tour out. But at that time this was not in the public domain and the gig was just not good. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
I'm a baby boomer born in 62, most of the 80's bands are my age or older. From seeing many of these bands on video I wouldn't pay big money to see lackluster performances and people standing still with cellphones. Shows back in the day were high energy from the bands and the audience and it's not there today.
This is a great point. I am guilty as charged - I like to capture most of the first concert song, then maybe other stuff as well. But there comes a time when one must rock out. It's funny thinking about how much the crowd was into Van Halen, Metallica, Maiden, etc. back in the 80's. Saw Halen on the OU812 Tour in Sacramento. The place was going ape ___. Those were the days.
*I admit, I was afraid we were seeing the last of Maiden live during the beginning of the tour (prior to finding out about Nicko's medical problems). As the tour progressed, they started sounding much better and toward the end of the tour, they sounded just as good as they did on their Legacy tour the year before. It was so confusing because I had just seen them live in the US, October 2022 and they sounded F'in amazing. Props and respect to Nicko. Such a great human being and warrior to come back from that. I can't wait to see them live again in Vegas 2024. You are right, though.. they were bad when you saw them and you can't change that (no matter the reason). Motley Crue and KISS... It's sad for me that these 2, along with Maiden are on this list. 3 of my all time favorite bands.. but you are not wrong. They were bad!*
Yes I had the same with Maiden, had seen them amazing the summer before here in Prague and just sort of couldn't believe that they would drop this much in just one year. But yes the truth came out and we will hopefully be able to enjoy them for some more years.
If you jerks are dissatisfied, form your own bands! Lead them. Keep them together and in line! Conquer the world for 50 years! Then you got a right to talk when ignorant people like you aren't satisfied!
I saw Maiden in Belgrade, 2022. That was also the second gig of the tour, I believe. You could see and hear a wrinkle here or there early on, and Bruce appeared timid. Then it went back to the usual brilliance of their concerts. I'm sure they stepped into the groove as Nico regained his strength and confidence. It's a harrowing experience, a stroke, ever when not massively damaging - I had mine in 2016 and am relieved and happy that Mr. McBrain can carry on, Next one will be great again!
Yes to be honest I was so surprised when I found out the reality of his situation that he got himself up there to do this. I mean this guy could so easily have either just retired or at least sat this one out but it says a lot about his passion. Thanks for watching.
You made me laugh out loud Awesome work Ya the only time Vince Neal is on his game is when he’s on buffet line He can sure afford to skip a meal These concerts are just a cash grab from the fans Kinda hurts
Was at the Manowar concert in Norway. Very good concert. The audience was a bit quiet in the start, but Eric Adams had a great night and managed to get the public very enthusiastic . M.A. Batio looked like he had a good time and was smiling alot. The sound was clear as usual. It was brought to a higer level in the last part of the concert.
Batio was the guitarist for the band Nitro. He's also in the Guinness Book of World Records as the fastest metal guitarist ever. Not to mention he's trained both Mark Tremonti (after Creed) and Tom Morello.
Yes somebody had pointed that out to me about Nitro, had no clue that he had trained these other guys though. He is a wizard for sure! Thanks for watching. Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
I was a former Mega Kiss fan... but their arrogance and bad mouthing of the original members turned me off!!! They have continued to tour with the songs from the 74 to 79 era... So it makes no sense to talk about Peter and Ace like that... Paul also bashed Milli Vanilli lip synching in 1990 Hot in the Shade Tour.. it was my first KISS concert , Paul bashed them, I witnessed it... They are ego maniacs that should've retired after the reunion tour.. I am so glad they are done.
I've seen Primordial live 3 times - festival and club performances - and they were always great. Sucks to hear that the technical problems ruined the show for you, but try to see them again. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen, Alan is a great frontman.
Yes seeing them in the summer and already looking forward to it. Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
Well there are for sure more big venue gigs that can go wrong, specially outdoor gigs can due to sound quality and the inability to get a huge crowd going. So yes often the smaller venues offer a much more intense experience. @@metalandrockzone Priest is good and on my bucket list. I was at Skid Row still sticking it to ya tour kick off in Ridgfield Wa Oct 2022 and Slaughter Feb 2023 Posted on On my channel. Small Venue shows.
I'm surprised Iron Maiden is on the list. But considering their age, I can understand. I saw Iron Maiden once in Beijing, China in 2016 and it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Their Chinese tour version T-shirt's design got Eddie riding the dragon with a Guandao in his hand, which was so freaking cool. The performance was awesome too. I actually cried because it was just like a dream come true.
First time I've seen Primordial was when the ash cloud was on. Instead of going to spain I went to Belfast cos the flights were canceled. By a chance I've stumbled on Primordial's aniversary gig. It was phenomenal.

Kiss this summer in Prague was my first ever concert. My dad bought me tickets for my birthday and we went together. I enjoyed it so much despite all the things people say. They are old so of course they're not gonna be as perfect as they were during the 70s or 80s. Yeah, they're not gonna jump and roll around on stage anymore. Yeah, Paul's voice is hoarse. Yeah, they most likely need help from backing tracks sometimes. Despite all that, it was one of the best introductions to concerts that I could ever get. Honestly cannot wait for the avatar concert in 2027.
Well I get that, I am pretty sure that if this would have been my first ever concert I would have felt completely differently about this experience. The Avatar thing will be very interesting and once again Kiss are leading the way in new dimensions, they did that also with all the stage shows, makeup, fireworks and all the merchandising. Thanks for watching.

Iron Maiden is charging $350 for concert ticket now where I live and that’s ridiculous asking price.Used to be $20 - $45 per ticket.Im not paying those prices now
I see an ever steeper price rise on tickets this year. Inflation is high still here in Europe at least so I guess there is a new reality in this. Thanks for watching
@@metalandrockzone I understand they need to make money because most the great bands are old now and almost done with performing for fans but what they need to understand is it’s hurting the fans and if they keep up those high prices then no one will be at their final shows .I do still see some bands perform w normal prices though so not all of them charge that much.Black Label Society ,WASP,Prong and Corrosion of Conformity still have $35 tix which is fantastic.
I went to a Maiden Legacy of the Beast concert last year with my mother, who got me started on their music. First rock concert I've ever been to and it was really cool since Bruce really knows how to put on a show. It sucks for Nicko that he can't perform as great as he used, but I'm still looking forward to their arrival in the Midwest for the Future Past tour. The sad fact of the matter is that as old as these bands are, they'll never perform as great as they once could have, so it's up to us fans to show our appreciation for their willingness to get up and try to anyway. Hell I ain't 20 yet, so most of these guys won't be around for the majority of my life.
Well you for sure picked the right band to see as a first show! And your mom is amazing! I saw the legacy tour also and they were amazing, gave them 9.5 for that performance. This gig I saw on this tour was the 2nd gig and as far as I have seen and heard it got really good so I am sure you will see them in top form when they come around. I think these days it takes them a few shows to find their stride somehow plus obviously these massive issues that Nicko had due to his stroke at the start of the Future Past Tour. Thanks for watching
Yes I am sure as the tour progressed they got better. Thanks for watcing Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
Concert prices, let alone just t-shirts or taking a date, are ridiculous these days. I always feel ripped off. I'd much rather see a band at a small club, watch the stadium stuff on UA-cam, and spend the extra money on albums. I only saw Kix and Winger in 2023. Both though did not disappoint. Glad I got to see Motley Crue at their best back in the 80's.
That new Winger album is pretty good, I didn't see that one coming somehow. Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
I was surprised to see you say Maiden, until you mentioned how early in the tour the show was. I saw them late in the tour, and they were as solid as ever. I saw Mötley Crüe in 2022, before Mick left. It wasn’t only the worst concert I saw that year. It was the worst I’ve *ever* seen. Not only is Vince’s voice completely shot (and I agree that it was never good live, anyway), but nobody in the band seemed to want to be there. I get that Mick was touring in pain, so I get it with him. Tommy brought a bit of energy when he came upfront to talk, but that was it. Nikki and Vince should have just tattooed “Give us money” on their foreheads and stood there. I left before it ended, which I’ve never done before. Vince sounded terrible and gave no impression that he cared.
G’day from Australia mate, great honest review & I saw Manowar at Masters of Rock in 2010 & was disgusted whereas Primal Fear was awesome. Unfortunately some of the bands you’ve highlighted don’t have the hunger to be fantastic anymore & they’re squeezing the cash cow once again. I do agree Maiden rarely have a bad night & if Nicko was recovering they may of not fired on all cylinders that night. Long live Metal 🍻👍🤘
After seeing Pantera in 1992 at the Palladium, I can assure you nothing has been better. Maybe up to 2000. I saw Cannibal, Morbid, Suffocation, Slayer, Metallica, Danzig, even Misfits when they rebanded together and Danzig was ON POINT, Manson, NiN, Sepultura, White Zombie, Mr. Bungle (that was a wierd show), Faith no More....I don't know probably 20 other bands. No damn cell phones in the air, just music. Tell me how nice it would be to go to a concert now and see ZERO cell phones. That's what I thought, impossible now. I think Danzig tried to do a cell phone check in thing that may have worked, but it's just so prolific it's out of hand!
Yes I guess that these landmark performances are fewer and further between now as ntt just the bands get older but the fans gets less engaged. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
@@metalandrockzone You know what was a very interesting show? Nile. Karl (guitarist) rolls out a vcr cart with a tube computer screen to run all the symphonic stuff. I was like ???. He was super cool after and we got to talk about his gear, and that crazy computer. Big teddy bear of a man talking to me a long haired teen just being cool. I miss those days of walking outside a venue and just hanging out casually without getting harassed by some security rent a cop haha.
I agree about Iron Maiden, I've seen them 3 times in this tour, twice in Prague in May and in Milano in July, in July Nicko was way better than in Prague, still not perfect but almost there. On the other hand not many drummers at the age of 70 would be able to perform what he did after a stroke.... so cudos to Nicko anyway
The difference between their first dates in may and the one in milan for example is like day and night. Milan 2023 was one of the best performances of the whole tour, in general as the tour progressed they improved
I saw both UDO and Accept 2022/2023 and both were amazing. UDO's last album was fun and I think you are right, his newer stuff is better than theirs. UDO is here again in March and I will go see him again then. @@metalandrockzone Defenders of the Faith is my favorite Priest album. the guitars sound tight and dry like buzzsaws. I feel like after the guitars got kinda watery sounding.I feel they arent really Judas priest anymore and sound more like iron maiden with the continual rolling drums on tracks and the move away from heavy chord riffs to lead riffs as the basis for songs just like iron maiden. I think the 2 new guitarists must be more a fan of maiden. still I will by priests new CD

I see the logo on your hat, so Hungarian? Are your people from Buda or Pest? I tried to find your name, but it is not obviously online (perhaps Almar?). Anyway I found your site while searching for recent heavy metal (and similar). I was 19 when Black Sabbath's first album came out. Easy to understand and like. Today, I'm way older but still a fan. However, I am having a hard time finding metal based music that I can understand. I can appreciate, and often seek to understand, the "why" and "how" of music, in general. So, finally why I am commeting: I salute you for helping me analyze and accept what's out there these days. And Yes, KISS is the least talented, fake-boobs band in the Solar System.
No I am actually from Iceland but I have connections to Hungary. I totally agree with you that music has changed, I think the digital aged changed it a lot because it both opened the doors for everyone to create and distribute music but it also mean you could copy other bands sounds and effects, you could make sure that every second of your song is perfect and that makes a lot of music a bit soul-less. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I remember seeing Crue when Godsmack opened for them (can’t remember what year). Yeah, Vince sounded pretty rough. It didn’t help that their set got off to a bad start when part of the curtain that was supposed to open at the very beginning of the show malfunctioned and a crew member had to come onstage and pull it down. The struggle is real! 😂
have to add, re supports: always loved that they had Killing Joke as support (the stories are fun... apparently TL didn't realise - during the tour - they KJ were supporting them.)

greetings from Chile. I've never been a huge Motley Crue fan, but i got free tickets for their show since the stadium where they played is literally next to my gf's house, and the producers have to give away tickets to the neighbors. It was a huge let down. It was fun, i agree, tons of rocker milfs, but the voice really brought down the whole show. And the opening act was Def Leppard, which is one of my early memories with Let's Get Rocked, but they were also super slow
Hahaha sounds like a good night though. I liked Def Leppard here in Prague though as they opened on that night. Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
I saw Manowar in Sweden, even though they only played 14 songs, it's easily the best gig i've been at, the sound was great and an amazing performance, seeing them on this list hurts me

I'd say the current incarnation of Pantera. I went to see them last year. It paled in comparison to when i saw them in 94. The Abbott brothers were Pantera and that's all there is to it.
Yes it was an off night, the year before I gave them 9.5 as they were amazing, they apparently became much better as this tour progressed. Thanks for watching
I didn't really have a bad concert experience this past year. I also didn't see as many shows as you, maybe 25 metal shows in total. Some highlights were Slipknot, In This Moment, Jinjer, Gojira, and In Flames 🤘🤘

In Germany Vince Neil was sh*t drunk, couldn't sing. Sad promoter ( Bang Your Head Festival) had to apologise for ever booking him. I only watched 2 songs I never liked MC unfortunately like Kiss just stop now!!!!!was 2015 I think
There are some rumours now that MC are going to continue without him, who knows. But I never think he was a great singer so not sure why I expected something great tbh. Thanks for watching,
Yes luckily he recovered and the whole band got better. I saw some videos from later on this tour and they looked and sounded great. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.
Thanks for that, I had posted some videos from there which then YT took down, while they were up people who watched them noticed the same but I think there was some tech issue causing that as I tried to explain in the video. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
Motley's pretty rough now... But Vince was not always terrible... What he always was, was hit or miss. Some nights he was awful, and sang words out of every sentence...some nights he was fine. I saw them on the Dr Feelgood tour in 1990. And they were great on that particular night... And Vince was probably as good as I'd ever heard him. But now... Since they got back together after the early 90s break up... Hes been awful ever since
@@metalandrockzone Yeah that was actually my first big rock show lol... and they were my favorite band at the time, from the time I was like 7 til the time I was like 17 or something. It was Motley Crue with Faster Pussycat opening at Rupp Arena in Lexington Ky. March 18th 1990, I'll never forget it. I wish there was a live video of it up on youtube, but theres not. Theres a few from around that time.. but no footage from the Rupp show. I got to see a lot of great shows from the 90s... Saw Pantera a couple of times, White Zombie, Saw Manson twice on his Anti-christ superstar tour.. Metallica on their Black album run.. Lol.. Feel pretty privileged for real... Saw probably close to 100 bands between 90 and 2010... and never paid more than maybe 50 bucks... that particular show my ticket was 18.50 and ther tour shirt was like 15 bucks lol. Now days, you can't get a seat within rock throwing distance for less than 100 bucks lol. Concerts are not what they used to be.. Sadly. Everythings so formulaic now.. and theres so many backing tracks and other crap.. its just not the same. Half the bands out there now days, if somebody steals their laptop they have to cancel the tour lol.
I can say without question that the worst band I ever saw was DEAFHEAVEN when they opened for Between the Buried and Me. It was years ago, but it was SO TERRIBLE that it was noteworthy. Half the audience was digging them, and the other half was literally looking around with confused looks on OUR faces. I was literally saying out loud "What the FUCK is this shit?!?" It was like watching a singer and drummer from a black metal band, and a guitarist and bassist from an indie pop band. It made NO SENSE whatsoever, and people literally had WTF written all over their faces.... 😲💯
Wow that sounds great! Thanks for watching and Ps. In case you are into Judas Priest then I just dropped a brand new video now about Defenders of the Faith that has a 40th anniversary now --> ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
yes, I heard about Nicko..... they'll be back, I'm sure...... I saw them in Prague 2018 and they were fantastic..... also, you have to cut them a lot of slack, because most of that setlist, were all those dynamic bangers from the 80's...... not an easy setlist for gentlemen of their age anymore
No I saw them 2018 here in Prague as well, also 2022 and they were amazing, this was totally a one off bad one. I heard they got better as the tour progressed. Na zdraví
Don't forget that some of the guys in both Iron maiden and Manowar are close to or about 70 years old now, while it's commendable they still want to go out and perform to their fans they simply will not be the as they were 20, 30,or maybe 40 years ago. I heard Eric sing recently and for a man of his age I hold my hat up to him, he still sings admirably.
Eric was the big positive on that Manowar gig to be honest, admirable. Thanks for watching. Ps. You might want to check out my BRAND NEW video about 5 (more) bands that I think might become big in 2024 (PART 2) ua-cam.com/video/MiEzRbYeU-U/v-deo.html
In the early 2000's I was discovering different types of metal. An ex GF played a couple of Limp Bizkit songs from the 1st album and I thought it sounded ok. Just ok. Not killer. I went and saw them live. I had no idea how Hip Hop influenced they were until the show started. Without question, the worst show I've ever seen in my life and I left lol
A friend saw them here in Prague last year and loved them! I didn't want to go as I was never into their stuff. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
Didn't even know he was touring, need to check that out. Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
In 2011 saw a great show at San Jose state…Vol Beat-great, Lacuna Coil-awesome, Motorhead-was Motorhead! Then Megadeath they were a huge disappointment-but we all have bad days
Volbeat are really good live. Megadeth was one of the better gigs I saw last year, not the most fun but one of the best "performance" as the band was amazingly tight and everything perfect somehow. Thanks for watching.. Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
Yikes, I've been a Rivethead since the FWOBHM and I wouldn't have paid a nickel to see any of these last 4 geezers, never mind expect a decent performance. Props to you for taking one for the team, though.
I saw Manowar in Switzerland in August. It was the best I had heard them in a decade. I heard about Batio having some issues with the earlier shows this year.
I saw them around that time as well, was happy with them, same actually in 2022 but that was very late on their tour so they were super tight and good. Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
I have been going to concerts for 40 years, and fornthe most oart, have been happy with the performances. However, in the last several years, I've walked away from shows completely disappointed, because the sound mix has gotten so bad. I mix studio sound for a living, and jave a deep appreciation for a good mix. I am sick of wasting my money on shows that sound like utter sh*t. Its like all that matters now is volume. Everything is pushed to the top and nothing ends up being heard.
This exactly happened at a Prague Slipknot concert in 22. Absolutely horrid muddy mix combined with constant cringey virtue signaling between songs. People threatening to beat me up because I dared to smoke a cigarette at a fucking metal concert. Terrible night that gave me tinnitus for like a week
The only bad performance I saw all year was Cattle Decapitation in Pontiac, Michigan Well, in metal. Worst performance, period, was Esham in Detroit. By far
@@metalandrockzone happy, indeed! I thought openers Blackbraid and 200 Stab Wounds brought more energy (and the headliner Dark Funeral crushed them, but I expected them to crush as always). Travis’ vocals sounded shockingly off. He used an annoying, screechy voice for most of his crowd banter, and the set list felt brief even relative to the other openers It was okay. I was just disappointed because their studio output is pretty awesome. It might have just been one of those nights for them, or maybe my expectations were just too high 🤷 I bet they kick ass at your show. Probably just got unlucky that night
The worst concert of 2023 was Limp Bizkit. Fred Durst was ill and wasn't able to sing. Instead of cancelling the concert, they started a karaoke show and let some random fans enter the stage and "sing" the songs. Some of them were pretty good but most of them were just bad. It was such a disgrace.
Ok I thought it was bad in 1990 when Whitesnake's David Coverdale got sick in Iceland and had some local singer step in for him! This Karaoke thing takes the prize! Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
It's really disappointing to see Iron Maiden on your list. I've seen them twice in the past (Powerslave and Somewhere in Time tours) and they were fantastic both times. Hopefully once Nicko is back to 100% they will be back to their normal great shows.
Yes I saw them many times, always great except this one gig. And as far as I have heard they got much much better. Thanks for watching. Ps. You might want to check out my BRAND NEW video about 5 (more) bands that I think might become big in 2024 (PART 2) ua-cam.com/video/MiEzRbYeU-U/v-deo.html
I saw Motley Crue with a friend when I was 17 back in 2000 in Oklahoma City (USA). Vince sang like shit then and was winded by about the 4th song. In 2006 my wife got us tickets to see them as a birthday present and since she had never seen them live before I didn't have the heart to tell her about Vince. Tommy, Mick, and Nicki were all very crisp and energetic that night, but Vince was so fucking horrific, it really takes you out of the experience. He wasn't even singing any words, just noises. I vowed then, almost 18 years ago to never give Motley Crue another dollar. I bought their 2008 album Saints of Los Angeles, though. Another disappointment.
@@metalandrockzone She was rather indifferent. I'm the bigger Motley fan between the 2 of us. She really loves bands like Scorpions, Alice Cooper, Faster Pussycat, Zombie, Primus, Billy Idol, NIN, Manson, Soundgarden, Fear Factory. I like those bands too but I'm much more of a Thrash and Glam metal guy. On another note my favorite concert I ever saw was May 2008 the wife and I saw Testament, Motorhead, and Judas Priest. It was actually the one and only time I've ever seen those particular bands and they ALL brought their A game that night. Priest played "Blood Red Skies" off Ram it Down which is my absolute favorite of theirs. Plus, Priest is my 2nd favorite band only to Metallica. Kiss is top 50 for me and Iron Maiden is probably top 20. Somewhere in Time is actually my favorite album of theirs.
Yes I am seeing Judas Priest this coming March, saw Testament in 95 and Motorhead in 2008 in Denmark, all great bands. Blood Red Skies is indeed a great song!
@@metalandrockzone you saw Testament in 1995? that is amazing. 1995 was a rough year for heavy metal in the United States. Thank God the Europeans know what good music is. I will tell you though that my first heavy metal concert was Metallica in 1994 in Tulsa Oklahoma. I was 11 and I went with my uncle and some older cousins. It was not my first time hearing Metallica or heavy metal music, but to see the best band in the world at the height of their powers doing what they do at such a young age is such an Indescribable experience.
Well I never expected them to be on this list either but unfortunately the first few gigs on that tour were not good. Probably the main reason being that Nicko was not healthy, however when I went to that gig and only was revealed later. I have seen some of the later shows and based on that they became much better. I just bought tickets for the tour next year and I expect to see them back on their game.
@metalandrockzone On the flip side, their worst show was Barclays center a couple of years earlier. Acoustic off and could barely hear Bruce sing. Everything was off. Jones Beach was average at best. Clearly they like MSG and UBS better than Barclays Center and Jones Beach
The drummer has a recent stroke... Yet you pick faults.. Cmon man, where's your credit !! Nico is a proper hero for what he did at the start of this tour
Yes as I say in the video then the stroke was not known until a few weeks later. The gig was bad still. I saw them also the year before and the gig then was great and I gave it 9.5. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.
Stryper may be the only sunset strip band that is relevant and still sound great live. Most of the set is stuff from last 4 albums, so more power metal sound.
Yes their last album was pretty good, thanks for watching. Ps. You might want to check out my new video about 5 bands that I think might become big in 2024 (part 2) ua-cam.com/video/MiEzRbYeU-U/v-deo.html
i saw Motley Crue, at the 1990 Dr. Feelgood tour. They Played for 55 mins then.......LEFT, & DIDN'T COME BACK. there was a Near Riot in Calgary AB. that Night.
Motley Crue getting rid of Mick is the worst thing they've done without addressing Vince at all. Mick's new album sounds good what I've heard so far. I think the other thing with Vince is that even when he was young, he wasn't that dynamic as a frontman, so to sound this bad now, and he barely moves just compounds it. If Keith Richards is more fit than you are, you need to do something.
Yes and if you know how much I tried to fix that! I have no clue why it was like this so ended up changing my setup in the studio! Thanks for watching and happy new year
Maiden had some issues inside the band, it wasn't just Nicko. Bruce was limited, he wasn't allowed to run rampage on stage like he always does. Compared to the 2022 beast of a show, they were just a shadow. Dave gave off this I don't wanna be here vibe all the time. This tour just wasn't meant to be I guess. Manowar is not even worth mentioning.
Yes I saw them 2022 and they were amazing then. I heard though that on this tour they got better as it progressed. Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
I got an EASY one >>WASP.WASP was so bad they were booed off the stage lead singer gave the crowd the finger and they left ..lol.BTW the backup band was SLAYER the ecrowd kept cheering SLAYER SLAYER it was awesome. We can't really put RUSH in the METAL realm but one concert in Hamilton was so bad I walked into the hall because I was bored.Rush is an amazing studio band but live not so good. I am surprised he mentions Iron Maiden because I never cared for Maiden at all until I saw them live I was blown away and became an instant fan. My most memorable concert of all time was insane it was so loud my ears rang for days and everytime the drummer hit th ebass drum my heart skipped a beat. Two parents asked me to look after their kids they couldn't take it anymore and to be honest I considered taking breaks. That band was not your typical household name but it was VENOM. I truly can't say I witnessed many poor performances maybe Metallica master of Puppets was pretty weak but then again I never really cared for that album. So my two fave places ever to watch concerts ...Larry's Hideawy Toronto and the Concert Hall "an old church"also in Toronto.

motley crue 2000 houston texas vince was good.kiss should have stepped down in 2000/back then they still were spot on.they should have left on a high note sounding good,
I saw Crue in 2009 in Copenhagen, it was much better than now obviously. Kiss were ok sort of in 2014 when I saw them, since then it has been downhill very fast. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
Had the same experience years ago when they opened for Pantera and White Zombie. Although they did finish their set, it was one of the only times I’ve seen a band get booed by the crowd during most of their performance (and rightly so).
@@metalandrockzone Unfortunately it was. Fortunately, the rest of the show was incredible! I think it might have been the same show that the band members brought out a cake on stage for Phil’s birthday.
I was happy I went to see them, don't get me wrong, and Kiss always has a place in my heart but I just felt that the end was here for sure somehow. Thanks for watching Ps. In case you are into Judas Priest then I just dropped a brand new video now about Defenders of the Faith that has a 40th anniversary now --> ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
The WORST concert I’ve ever been to was Motley Crüe’s bullshit farewell tour in 2014. We even got gypped on the drum coaster track thing that brought Tommy Lee over the crowd because we were at a shitty amphitheater that lacked the proper rigging. Vince was gasping out every 3rd word or so but it mostly sounded like Steve Carrel with the frog in his throat in Bruce Almighty. At least we got a killer show from Alice Cooper beforehand.
I am seeing Alice Cooper this summer for the first time, really looking forward. Thanks for watching Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html

yeah KISSs show was cnstant. watching vids. i feel they had too much to look at that it was obviously to distract from paul. half a line live then tape kicked in on close to last show. and in AUS where i live they play SHANDI and it was so beautiful and exact concert to concert it was obviously tape. anyway i loved em they saved me as a youth. peace man
Best concert for me this year was Avatar! They are amazing live!
My worst Metal concert was way back in winter of 1984 - Armored Saint, Metallica, and WASP.
AS and WASP were fine, but Hetfield was soooooooooo intoxicated that he played about 2 to 3 bars behind the rest of the band for the entire show...
wow that sounds crazy @@repentnow1720
@@metalandrockzone I still have the ticket stub 40 years later! : )
Unfortunatelly, that was not the case for the Crue, the mos dissapointing gig I have ever been.
it sucks that motley was on first in Melbourne
yes Def Leppard were on the bill here as well, they rocked. Thanks for watching
wow I did not know that about Joey
Here it was the other way around.
Vince was asked to comment on the recent tour, and his response was
"Fntthh meeh ssuunf hoo"
I think that says it all.
Yes it was not his best ever for sure
Went to the Manchester concert as well. Brilliant. However, British Lion the night before was just as good.
I was at the same gig in Manchester, they were phenomenal 👏
I think the moral of the story is that you have to know when to retire, and we as fans have to know when to stop going to these shows.
True but there also bands I have seen in last 2 years like Uriah Heep and Deep Purple that were pretty good.
Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
You are missing out then!!!
@@lisasmokette6511 I guess I am, but we all miss the joys of our youth - I miss surfing right up until I see a news story about a shark attack. Granted, not so common at a music festival ;}
Age doesn't really change if the performences are good or not that much. Especially in Metal. Lots of old Thrash and Death Metal acts are still amazing live (e.g. Sodom,Cannibal Corpse and even Judas Priest).
@@Fulci.LivesMLMyeah but realizing the guys on stage are as old as your grams takes the fire out of “living after midnight” just a bit
Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
UKJ are very Talented and always have been, 1 of my favorite so underrated.
Extreme(band) too...
yes the new Extreme albums is pretty good
@@metalandrockzone The super band Mr.Big also...
I also saw somewhere a clip of the band, where Adrian was giving Nicko a dirty look and didn't play for a few bars...@@metalandrockzone
yes saw that clip as well
Excellent reviews. 2023 had a massive number of concerts around the world. Everyone was touring
Great video. Love the honesty.
Thanks for watching. Not everyone loves honesty anymore though!
Cheers mate
I really enjoyed this. Thank you sir!!

Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
I totally respect your comments. You nailed it. Maiden was ok in Vancouver but I'd NEVER waste my time with Motley!! EVER!!

Interesting. Thank you. Metal blessings from London ❤🤘🏻

Wow, with a time machine I would go back to see this stuff! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
I saw GGG tour. Pretty amazing, but I think Carnival of sins may have been the best of the 31 times I've seen them. But after the stadium tour, I won't see them again. Terrible.
Didn't know eddie was in crue???
That was 87-88 right? That was the Crue at their prime some 37 years ago!!! Problem is you see a band all these years later (secretly dreaming of the same and a chance to relive the glory days) but it never goes down the same. Not in my experience anyway.
I was there! Man, it didn't take long for GNR to go from warm up band to sell out headliners. They were absolutely blowing everyone off the stage back then. Last time I saw Crue was when Whitesnake opened for them. Both killed it that night.
Saw Maiden on this tour in Dublin in the summer and they sounded great.
No the vibe is totally different from just 10 years ago even. thanks for watching.
They were the soundtrack of my life and literally saved my life countless times!
McBrain can carry on,
Next one will be great again!
Yes to be honest I was so surprised when I found out the reality of his situation that he got himself up there to do this. I mean this guy could so easily have either just retired or at least sat this one out but it says a lot about his passion. Thanks for watching.
@@metalandrockzone They shall never surrender! Thank you for the videos.

Eric was good on my gig but there was something off with the rest. Thanks for watching.

Yes I guess Kiss ended up in a place that they could not imagine back in 1985 or so. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
Paul and Gene could've gone out more graciously for sure.
I've seen Primordial live 3 times - festival and club performances - and they were always great. Sucks to hear that the technical problems ruined the show for you, but try to see them again. They are one of the best live bands I've ever seen, Alan is a great frontman.

I avoid large venus and bignames, I was let down 1 to many times! The Small venues have been great experience.
Well there are for sure more big venue gigs that can go wrong, specially outdoor gigs can due to sound quality and the inability to get a huge crowd going. So yes often the smaller venues offer a much more intense experience. Thanks for watching

That sounds like a unique experience! I saw them 2022 also but then they were great, really great.
First time I've seen Primordial was when the ash cloud was on. Instead of going to spain I went to Belfast cos the flights were canceled. By a chance I've stumbled on Primordial's aniversary gig. It was phenomenal.
Yes great band, seeing them again in the summer and looking forward. Thanks for watching

Nice dude. I’ve seen them 3 times back in the day. And they are one of the best live shows… congratulations
I found myself constantly yelling yes yes as I was enjoying the vid......couldnt agree with ya more......thx bud.....BTW subscribing as of now!

God bless you 😇.
Michael Angelo Batio was originally in a band called Nitro, back in the 80's.
Yes I need to check that band out, thanks for watching.
Yea, Nitro was total CHEESE.
Seen Maiden in the spring, and they were amazing. Nico was on point and sounded brilliant.
Yes I am sure as the tour progressed they got better. Thanks for watcing

Thanks for watching

Yes I don't think I will see them again....but then again I said that after the last time before! I keep lying to myself. Thanks for watching.

@@metalandrockzone happy new year. 🤘
Yes Nicko could easily have either retired or at least sat out this tour but he went on and that says a lot about his character. Happy New Year Carlo
The difference between their first dates in may and the one in milan for example is like day and night. Milan 2023 was one of the best performances of the whole tour, in general as the tour progressed they improved
I am going to be seeing UDO for the first time, the ex singer from Accept in Boston. cant wait, IMO his albums are better than accepts since he left.

@8:08 Sam Kinison has really let himself go / =
he is a foodie
That is an interesting choice of opening act I must say. Thanks for watching.
@@metalandrockzone Yeah, that was the infamous tour that created the rift/feud between the two bands.

greetings from Chile.

I'd say the current incarnation of Pantera. I went to see them last year. It paled in comparison to when i saw them in 94. The Abbott brothers were Pantera and that's all there is to it.
Well nothing beats the real thing, but this is what we can get and their gig was amazing, had them on my list of best gigs video.

Hes been awful ever since
Wow you saw then back then! Where was that, would have loved to see them then as I loved that album. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!

Don't forget that some of the guys in both Iron maiden and Manowar are close to or about 70 years old now, while it's commendable they still want to go out and perform to their fans they simply will not be the as they were 20, 30,or maybe 40 years ago.
Interesting, why do you think that is that they do that?
This exactly happened at a Prague Slipknot concert in 22. Absolutely horrid muddy mix combined with constant cringey virtue signaling between songs. People threatening to beat me up because I dared to smoke a cigarette at a fucking metal concert. Terrible night that gave me tinnitus for like a week
The only bad performance I saw all year was Cattle Decapitation in Pontiac, Michigan
Well, in metal. Worst performance, period, was Esham in Detroit. By far
I am seeing Cattle Decapitation this March, what was off there? Happy New Year
@@metalandrockzone happy, indeed!
I thought openers Blackbraid and 200 Stab Wounds brought more energy (and the headliner Dark Funeral crushed them, but I expected them to crush as always). Travis’ vocals sounded shockingly off. He used an annoying, screechy voice for most of his crowd banter, and the set list felt brief even relative to the other openers
It was okay.

What did your wife think? Was she angry you didn´t warn her? Thanks for watching and Happy New Year!
It was not my first time hearing Metallica or heavy metal music, but to see the best band in the world at the height of their powers doing what they do at such a young age is such an Indescribable experience.
wow as an 11 year old no big band had made it to Iceland where I am from! First big band was Kiss in 86 and I was 13 but had to work!
Can't believe Iron Maiden was on this list. Saw them at UBS in NYC and it was their best show I ever scene.

Nicko McBrain is 71 and the drums are the most physically demanding instrument in a rock band.
Yes, it is. Thanks for watching
i saw Motley Crue, at the 1990 Dr. Feelgood tour. They Played for 55 mins then.......LEFT, & DIDN'T COME BACK. there was a Near Riot in Calgary AB. that Night.
insane
Motley Crue getting rid of Mick is the worst thing they've done without addressing Vince at all. Mick's new album sounds good what I've heard so far. I think the other thing with Vince is that even when he was young, he wasn't that dynamic as a frontman, so to sound this bad now, and he barely moves just compounds it. If Keith Richards is more fit than you are, you need to do something.
Yes Keith though is a unicorn
You were accompanied by many orbs during your Mötley Crüe review.
Thanks for watching
Ps. if you are into Judas Priest then I just put out a new video about Defenders of the Faith as it has a 40th anniversary now ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
So my two fave places ever to watch concerts ...Larry's Hideawy Toronto and the Concert Hall "an old church"also in Toronto.
ok you have some legendary experiences under your belt! Thanks for watching

" one day can bit your head off, pum your dead" AHAHAHAHAH!!! Nice analogy!
thanks for watching.
Guns N Roses in Charlotte NC. I have never experienced anything that bad.
They are doing it wrong, too many songs, too long etc. should be just 20 songs and nail it perfectly.
motley crue 2000 houston texas vince was good.kiss should have stepped down in 2000/back then they still were spot on.they should have left on a high note sounding good,
I saw Crue in 2009 in Copenhagen, it was much better than now obviously. Kiss were ok sort of in 2014 when I saw them, since then it has been downhill very fast. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
The worst performance I ever saw was the Eyehategod set at the first Ozzfest. They were just terrible.
Yes I saw them some years back and wasn't super impressed. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year
Had the same experience years ago when they opened for Pantera and White Zombie. Although they did finish their set, it was one of the only times I’ve seen a band get booed by the crowd during most of their performance (and rightly so).
I don't ever recall something like that in a concert, must have been really really bad@@theoriginalThud
@@metalandrockzone Unfortunately it was. Fortunately, the rest of the show was incredible! I think it might have been the same show that the band members brought out a cake on stage for Phil’s birthday.
7:23 my Uncle Carmine ! Drumming legend
Listened to him on an interview last week! Both of them brother are really interesting characters.
I saw KISS in June and it was GREAT but I understand your points. My rating for Kiss:
7.6/10
I was happy I went to see them, don't get me wrong, and Kiss always has a place in my heart but I just felt that the end was here for sure somehow. Thanks for watching
Ps. In case you are into Judas Priest then I just dropped a brand new video now about Defenders of the Faith that has a 40th anniversary now --> ua-cam.com/video/7RJPmZnIwsQ/v-deo.html
@@metalandrockzone Thanks mate. Gonna see Priest in April and Metallica in June so I am defenitely gonna watch your vid!
what country are you from>?
Iceland, and you?
@@metalandrockzone romania. you have great taste in music. cheers. I love how music truly unites people from all over the world
multumesc si la multi ani
@@metalandrockzone nice of you to write in romanian. la multi ani si tie :)
I used to visit Romania a lot, loved it there
The WORST concert I’ve ever been to was Motley Crüe’s bullshit farewell tour in 2014.
Thanks for watching

@@metalandrockzone Nita Strauss kicks ass. She had JUST joined up when I saw them 9 years ago.
yes she is amazingly good @@BingWrosby
