Federal Judges have been impeached before-in the 19th century and I don’t know if any were actually convicted and removed by the Senate, but the Constitution does say “The President, Vice President, and all civil Officers of the United States shall be removed from office on Impeachment…and Conviction” and the Supreme Court never ruled Judges didn’t count.

@@babyvaughan Unfortunately not-the various state and federal Bar associations regulate what Lawyers are allowed to practice, but when it comes to Judges they can only advise the people appointing them that they are unqualified for the position. Which they did, but the GOP ignored in their haste to get as many conservatives on the bench as possible…and the MAGA wing saw not as a “bug” but a “feature”…

Lawyers, as well as Judges, have a code of ethics that they swear to. The various segments of the codes are specific and strong. They are not suggestions but strict rules of conduct. Apparently Judge Cannon did not bother to read them. Instead she chose to follow the trump code of ethics, which should be cause for immediate removal and disbarment.
Whatever happened to conflicts of interest in cases where you’re the one that appoints the judge that gives you what you want? I don’t understand how he can get away with this when national security is at risk? It’s depressing and disheartening to know that the 1% can get away with this kind of thing and they expect the rest of us to allow it?!?! It’s not OK. 🤦🏼♀
Federal and Supreme Court judges get to decide their own conflicts of interests. And have lifetime appointments.

Sadly, we shouldn't have to think of Judges in the sense of a "Trump Judge" or an "Obama Judge". Judges are SUPPOSED to be bipartisan and only use the Law to make decisions. However, Trump told us how "his judges will be loyal to him" and Judge Cannon just proved it.

This case should not be heard at all. Trump a civilian possessed government documents (NOT HIS, THE PEOPLE OF THE U.S.)
Was asked for them back several times but deceived the government ( obstruction) in saying Trump gave everything back when in FACT he did not. So they served a search warrant for secret documents he said he returned, and found them. Any other civilian would have been arrested on the spot when the search warrant was served and evidence was found.
Trump has no standing in this case. This judge is way over her head and DOJ has to appeal this.

Aileen Cannon is a Republican who joined the Federalist Society before she had even graduated from law school. Prior to Trump's nomination - to a lifetime seat on a Federal district court! - she had NEVER been a judge. Anywhere. Ever. She LITERALLY had never even ruled on a parking ticket citation before she was elevated to the Federal bench. If she were competent or incorruptible, Trump never would have nominated her and Senate Republicans never would have confirmed her. What's more, she's young, so she can continue ignoring our laws and screwing our country for DECADES to come.

For most of them it's just about ratings, Trump's insane spectacle is more "entertaining" and more controversial usually so it draws bigger audiences so they love to cover him - the crazier and dumber the better.
Biden isn't as "entertaining" to the masses and his "base" tends to be more moderate/centrist folks who specifically love the fact they don't have to deal with the craziness with Biden and can be comfortable not hearing about him every day knowing he and his competent staffers are doing their jobs professionally like they're supposed to be.
Biden is starting to embrace the "Dark Brandon" meme clearly and he is getting his base and all democracy defenders/lovers fired up a bit more for him so they may have actually done alright covering it but they go based on previous ratings typically and his calmer "get along" phase didn't draw much attention.

Exactly. In civilized countries, such a judge would recuse themselves from this decision.
Federal judges are supposed to disqualify (that is, recuse) themselves when their "impartiality might reasonably be questioned, including but not limited to instances in which[] the judge has a personal bias or prejudice concerning a party" under Canon 3(C) of the Code of Conduct for United States judges. Ultimately, the only way to apply meaningful external discipline is for Congress to impeach them. And generally they have to REALLY screw up for that to happen. Which is why appointing people with the correct temperament and respect for law in the first place is so important.

There's actually a kind of precedent. I'm old enough to remember that during Watergate, a judge let a guy charged with a minor crime off the hook, saying that if there is corruption at the highest level, he couldn't issue unequal justice with a good conscience.

On one hand, it makes sense to have a politically neutral body examine the documents to determine what is classified. On the other hand, the FBI *is* that politically neutral body.
Also, why isn't the judge recused for the very obvious conflict of interest?
Because it’s supposed to be something a professional would do, she clearly isn’t and there is no real law forcing her to do so.
Especially considering that these files contain some very top level clearance stuff. It would take forever for most people to get the clearance to look at the files and the few people with the clearance and the understanding of the law are like Bill (and maybe Hillary) Clinton and Barack Obama.
Every FBI director so far has been a republican. Some seeming not so neutral, e.g. Comey.

Biden knows there's nothing "semi" about it. But he is the President of all people, even the idiots. He knows that the way to get idiots to see the truth isn't to show them the truth directly, since the idiots can't handle that. Instead he's gently nudging them toward the truth. First, he can lead the people who are just on the edge of idiot status to the truth by giving them the "semi" idea, letting them find their own way to the truth from the midpoint.
It's like when you talk to little kids, when you have to meet them in the middle, and once you've brought them to the middle they can start to see the truth from there and come the rest of the way on their own. If you tell a kid "there is no monster in your closet", the kid feels rejected and not believed, which makes them less likely to believe anyone who tells them the truth. But if instead you say, "do you think that maybe the monster might have gotten tired of living in your closet and gone away? It's kind of a small closet for a monster to live in forever." And then the kid starts to realize that there was never a monster in the closet at all. That's important, because when it's their own idea, they're more likely to understand and accept the truth and not fall back into the imaginary side. Similarly, something like "do you think that maybe it could be just a little semi-fascist?" can lead a semi-idiot to the understanding that it's completely fascist. Then we'll be left with only the full-on idiots to deal with.
Biden is a grandpa. Grandpas know how to get kids to understand that there's no monster in the closet. Now he has to do the same for the brainwashed idiots, or at least the semi-idiots.

The one that were rated qualified seem not to be such a problem (see election cases). The main problem are the judges labelked unqualified.

Why was this decision left solely in the hands of one obviously crooked and biased judge? Can't there be a board of counter judges acting as a voice of reason? This mafia needs to be put down.
As Stephen described, she was appointed by Trump for the jurisdiction in which he was committing his crimes. So in other words the reason it went to this Judge is because it was planned that way and Trump having been President had a very unique position to take advantage of his office. As for a "board of counter judges" yes I believe the prosecution is going to be able to appeal this ruling.
