Most important remark from Ben: "it's been fun". He's spoken at length about how modern guns do modern gun things. If a gun has that 'x' factor that makes you want to shoot more versus shopping for a new gun*, runs, and doesn't get in the way of your shooting...than it's a good gun. *(sometimes a gun makes you want to shop and then shoot a lot...this is called Stoeger Syndrome as seen in Ben's recent Staccato and Glock purchases. Identifying symptom is that the newly purchased guns get 123k rounds through them in 54 days immediately after purchase).
I recently switched from Glocks to the 2011 platform, via a 4.25" Bul Armory SAS II. "Fun to shoot" is exactly the difference and the confidence came soon after. If it's fun to shoot and you shoot more which builds skill and confidence... there's no downside to that IMO. Sadly, am my Glocks feel like trash now 😭😂
I use welding anti-splatter gel in my comps and it keeps the carbon down so I don’t have to chip it out with hard tools that can sometimes scratch the surface it’s cheep and won’t ruin the finish. Just fyi.
I clean my extractor/extractor tunnel when I replace my recoil spring because the recoil spring comes with a firing pin spring and if I've got the slide apart anyway I might as well.
Check out the Breakthrough suppressor cleaner for cleaning comps. It’s expensive, but not that bad if you get it from Lanbos online. It is non toxic unlike the dip and after a day sitting the lead and carbon literally falls off. I’d figure it’d do the same for a comp as a can.
I have a comp on my TX-22 competition and I clean mine monthly. I use equal parts distilled white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide with a just a splash of water in a small plastic measuring cup. Submerge for a few hours, it will bubble and fizz. Scrape off the softened lead, repeat. I sometimes do it 3 times if the build up is extreme. Works very well. DO NOT DO THIS WITH ALUMINUM PARTS. STEEL ONLY.
I have both. They are both great guns with their own personalities. The XC is of course flatter shooting but I know people that have ported their DWX’s and they come damn close and are extremely enjoyable to shoot. I honestly prefer the ergonomics of the DWX.
The main downside to RemOil is it tends to evaporate and or burn off when the gun gets super hot. So for lube sensitive guns, it becomes an issue much faster than modern synthetics. RemOil is fine for bench use generally. But if we are on the range actually running drills hot and heavy, working guns get synthetic based lubes. Hope this helps.
@@John1911 thank you, yes this helps. I also use the Spartan Modern Systems Accuracy oil. I do see a difference that it stays on a part longer than rem oil when heat is involved.
As Staccato XC and P owner this video is very helpful, now we know what to expect at 25k rounds. I think you understated how disgusting the ejector gets after 100 rounds I cant imagine 15k rounds 🤣 Do you know if we can Ultrasonic clean these guns?
Rem Oil as a gun lube is fine if you are using your guns. The problem with rem oil is it evaporates. People hate Rem Oil because they clean their guns and put them away, then take them shooting in a few months and they won't run. The problem being the maintenance schedule and expectation. Don't expect Rem Oil to lube your gun 6 months after it was applied. If a gun gets regular use and regular maintenance, rem oil is ok.
Thinking of cleaning your gun, do you feel like there's a difference between ammo brands on how long you can shoot before the gun becomes noticeably sluggish or gummy, or if it's just a crap shoot pushed by gun shop fudds that certain ammo brands run cleaner than others.
I wouldn't say it's brands in general, but different ammo can absolutely run dirtier or cleaner than others. Any long term suppressor owner can probably attest to this. Particularly rimfire. How much that matters to you though is highly personal. Especially since you can usually get away with just putting more lube in these Staccatos when they do get gummy and continue running them lol.
@soulshot96 I'm aware Rimfire is dirtier. That's common knowledge, and my MK3 hates me for ignoring it. I also know Tula is some of the filthiest ammo you can get, but allegedly Fiocchi runs super clean. I didn't know if Ben might have had any experience with this or if it's not something he'd ever paid much attention to.
I really enjoy this endurance review since 25k is a testament to the guns endurance while simultaneously it’s not a long term review because compared to grandpa 1911 in his dresser this thing is brand new. Would love for you to continue this.

can someone explain what the deal with rem oil is lately with all the mentions? ive been using it in my guns for a long time, i always thought oil is oil and always grabbed it on clearance at walmart for years and never had a problem in my pistols with it. i use slip for my rifles but did they change the formula or something? lots of people mentioning rem oil i am just curious
I carry my XC on duty full time and have since January, I train and teach with it and attend schools and comps with it. I’m in about 13k but no problems yet.
I’m not so sure you can look at a piece of metal and know how 25k rounds have affected it without doing a metallurgical stress test. I mean, if it still runs, then it runs. But I’d like to see a serious test on the metal itself.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the XC. I have the steel framed P and a C2. I initially kicked myself for not buying the XC. Now that I have your perspective on the XC, I do not regret my decision. Although, the XC is very high on cool factor!
I suspect Ben uses rem oil in his hair now. He set the bottle down and ran his hands through his hair.
I was wondering who sponsors his hair, this may be on par
personally I'm still using slip 2000 for hair and beard oil.
