I gotta be honest, I bought a P30L because I needed a 9mm and the LEM trigger gives me 1 trigger pull like a striker fire, but has an exposed hammer to make reholstering safer. I don't expect anyone to care about that last part, but it is a selling point of hammer fired firearms for concealed carry.
@Jesse-sz6fp if I were to carry a Glock, I'd do exactly the same. I'll be honest, if HK could make an optics ready p30 and get the cost to the same as a Glock 19 MOS, I'd never suggest a Glock to anyone again. But HK hates us.
@@lordhellfire153 I own two USPs with LEMs and a P2000 with LEM and there's still plenty of reasons I'd recommend a Glock. It's quite literally one trigger pull to learn, no real change in distance of the trigger pull either. And it's extremely simple to detail strip and clean. Not to mention it's more lightweight and streamlined/oversimplified. They're both polymer pistols but they're still different guns. The Glock is also the tinkerers gun if that's something they'd think they'd be into due to the insane amount of aftermarket. There's a lot of things I'd like for my HKs that can only be found for Glocks unfortunately. That includes quality holsters for different optic/wml configurations, both AIWB and OWB/DUTY.
Can confirm on the M&P. I carry a 2.0 4 inch and have a 5 inch Performance Center with both ported and non-ported barrels I can swap depending on the competition.
0:20 "Opinions on the M&P vs the Glocks for competition, any input would help with my decision." 1:18 "Glock 19 is like buying a BCM upper and Aero lower. It's boring, reliable, easy-to-acquire item that will work, and no one will be impressed." 1:47 "Glock 19 or Glock 45 is probably two most recommended pistols. I'm a bigger guy so I favor 4-inch slide with full size grip. PDP 4-inch pistol I want to try out in the future." 2:14 "Glock 19 has been so successful as a do-all handgun that it's a archetype now. Anyone brings up buying a 9mm polymer-frame pistol, the Glock 19 is usually the first one people mention, it's the default option, which is why most people start with the Glock 19 and then move on to other things pretty quickly. The Glock 19 has a place in the gun collection of everyone, it's by no means everyone's first choice but it's a millennial and Gen-X handgun of choice, much like the 1911 was for boomers and Silent generation." 3:06 "Really enjoy the content lately, maybe I haven't watched enough of your videos to hear your thoughts on the M&P line. It seems that I hear more and more online these days about Springfield and Canik." 3:57 "Staccato cells (?) are gonna be fuming at this one." 4:30 "M&P 2.0 compact 4-inch barrel, same size as the Glock 19, M&P 2.0 triggers (have) a very defined wall so you know when it breaks, easy to hit 2-inch targets consistently or targets at distance when you prep the trigger. My Glock 19 trigger has a rolling break with the spongy feel, harder and slower for me to take those precision and distance shots. M&P 2.0 has a more natural grip angle, the dot is on target straight from the draw, with the Glock I have to remember I'm shooting a Glock and I have to remind myself to bend my wrist down to find the dot." 5:09 "I own lots of guns and only 2 Glocks, a 19 and a 17. One is my bedside gun, the other I carry. That's what I think about Glocks." 5:28 "Fanboy or not gonna have a tough time outperforming a Glock 19." 6:06 "If I just wanted to buy a pistol for self-protection like the majority of people do, then a Glock most likely is the best pistol to buy. Its availability, track record, price, along with the aftermarket support make it a no-brainer for a lot of people because it's straightforward and utilitarian. Like many have said countless times Glock to the gun world is what Toyota is to the car world. That being said exactly why I personally (and?) a lot of other people don't buy into the mass appeal. It's just a Toyota, it's just a Glock, it's very plain, there's no character about it and there's nothing that it really does well out of the ordinary that a lot of pistols don't do already other than the fact that there's a ton of them everywhere for cheap, that's ultimately why the Glock is what it is. There probably are other objectively better performing polymer-frame pistols than the Glock in just about every category but lack of (the) market demand of the Glock and therefore they simply cannot keep up." 7:26 "Another reason Glock owns the market: because they were the first polymer-frame pistol, so naturally over the course of a couple of decades people are gonna be more familiar with the Glock than they will the S&W M&P or Walther PDP, and therefore there's gonna be more wide use of the Glock, and meaning more aftermarket support meaning more demand." 8:35 "It's all kind of pointless nowadays because there's a lot of pistols and weapons generally you simply cannot go wrong with. Being accurate, reliable, affordable, and available aren't characteristics specific to just one make and model." 8:57 "You prissy bi-ch of a gun snob, it's part of why your channel is good. Most gun snobs are emotional but you seem to have real reasons behind it. I bought a 226 recently and I like it, but realistically my Glock 19 is more utilitarian in most aspects, although I like the 226 experience better. No longer a comp shooter btw just have guns for self-defense." 11:01 "I agree with you Mr. Stagger [sic] I've owned many different pistols other than a Glock and finally made the decision a few years back to train with what I carry on and off duty, that's the Glock. G45 MOS is my favorite, if I had to pick one it'd be the G19. I sold most of my inventory to focus on training using one platform, couldn't be happier, even with all the disgust I get for shooting a Glock." 11:33 "Video title: Best Pistol Ever **Holds up a Glock** 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦I'm outta here, better things to do with my time." 11:41 "If I can only use one, I would choose something that was proven to not break at very high round counts. Think there's probably better options than Glocks now." 11:59 "I heard rental Gen 3 Glocks would crack slides at 100k rounds, and Gen 4 starts seeing frame failure at 10k rounds. So it seems Glock is a brand name with degrading quality possibly? I would want something guaranteed to run for a long time without critical parts failure and to be logistically independent as possible except ammo." 12:32 "I don't even own a Glock, I have numerous other options. If I were forced to pick one I'd get the 19, the only alternative would be the M&P 9 in the same form factor. But the Glock 19 wins because of the abuse that people have forced them through along with the track record. I'm not a huge fan of them but I'd choose them for sure." 13:08 "Glock 19 is a Toyota Camry of guns, it does what it needs to pretty well, there's nothing wrong with them. I tell everyone who asks if you can shoot a Glock 19, buy a Glock 19. I don't like them as much as my P320 so I don't shoot one, but if I was rich I'd buy about a dozen to have in case someone needed a gun." 13:32 "I really look at the 19, I say this as someone who EDCs a Gen 5 19, as the best compromise pistol. It's small enough it's fairly easy to conceal, large enough you can run it as a duty pistol if you choose. The big selling point to most I think, is that it takes the same parts of the other Glocks so you aren't stepping out of the ecosystem like you would with other designs. And if you don't own 40 Glock mags nowadays what are you even doing? Doesn't really excel at either role spectacularly but it does work. I'd argue the 48, especially with the Shield mag, makes a more compelling carry gun." 14:12 "I prefer my Canik TP9, it doesn't feel like holding a block of wood, the only reasonable justification for a Glock has been its reliability. Sadly for Glock, many other guns are just as reliable, have much better triggers, much better sights, better mags, and astoundingly better ergonomics. The arrogance of Glocks have caught up with them. Explain to me the logic of spending 600+ on a Glock, knowing you're gonna put an additional 500 or more into it to make it what you want and need it to be. Obviously my personal opinion, but I know it's shared with many others." 15:10 "Glocks suck, I have never regretted selling all the ones I've ever bought because they don't do anything well enough to warrant keeping them. MOS is a shit system for many reasons; for newer shooters, limp wristing tends to jam them; their mags are too thick and therefore hold way less rounds than they should; their Performance Trigger has issues; can't be field stripped without the pull of a trigger; and so on and so forth…"
The CZ-PO1 would be my pick if I could only have 1. Only downside is it is more complicated internally. It does have a firing pin block so it is drop safe. It is accurate and can be concealed. I love the decocker.
I agree, the SIG 226 is an excellent firearm. My favorite among all the SIGS I own by far. I have a modified MK25 with SIG Procut slide because it looks awesome, has combat sights, and optic mount. I also installed Gray Guns SRT to shorten the reset like the Legion. I also like the trigger on the MK25 226 better than the Grey Guns SAIT flat trigger. Just feels better. The weight and balance of the 226 is noteworthy also. I love your videos BTW, thanks for sharing.
Safariland, Galco, & Fobus, gun shop junk they sell you after you drop hard earned cash on a nice pistol and sell you a generic holster that has to have a retention feature otherwise it would fall out. If you’re investing in personal protection and carry, finish the investment by purchasing a quality holster and belt. Milt Sparks, Kramer, or Kenneth Null are the only holsters I’d consider and I’m just a blue collar guy. Even a budget polymer pistol from Walther. Sig, or S&W deserves proper carry gear
I think Beretta APX, CZ P10 or M&P 2.0 would be my recs for the average joe not because they are substantially better or different from Glocks but because they are similar enough for regularly less than 2/3rds the price on sale. That's a more range trips for the same money.
The P10 impressed me. I bought one for a loaner gun because getting a blue label Glock in my hick town isn’t easy and isn’t cheap. A P10 optics ready from grabagun with three mags shipped was cheaper than a blue label G19(non mos). The P10 fits my concealed and duty holster. It’s had three hiccups with 90lb females, but you know what that’s from.
Re: Glock Service Life A lot of the impressions about frames cracking after 100,000 rounds on rental guns does not account for whether or not those rental guns had their springs, especially the recoil spring, replaced on any sort of a meaningful schedule. When recoil springs and parts are replaced at the end of their intended service life, those frames and guns will go forever - this is true of pretty much every accepted service pistol.
even if my 17 slide does crack at 100k rounds, i’ve run $30k worth of cheap factory ammo through it and like im kinda ok with that. that seems reliable enough for me idk
I actually know of gen 4 glocks breaking the front of the slide where it interfaces with the recoil spring assembly, usually in .40, and probably beyond the recommended service life for that part. The same assumption would be a gen 3 cracking a slide at around 100k rounds. A lot of people still spout the "you never need to replace the recoil spring assembly and you don't need to ever service it."
That's surprising Ziggy. Going from your pfp, I thought you'd be the type to prefer the "Glizzy wit dat switch and mufugn stick mag mufuggah, ya herd me?"
This is literally the first I've ever heard of 1st gen M&Ps "leaving a bad taste" with people. I bought my M&P over 10 years ago and they had a reputation for being solid, reliable guns on par with Glock even back then. Aside from the hinged trigger design, you'd be hard pressed to find anything negative that people would say about them. That statement really caught me by surprise.
@hansjurgen are these issues stemming just from early production runs in the first year or two? Because I did a fair amount of research before buying mine, which would have been sometime around 2011/2012, and as I've said I don't recall seeing or hearing anything of the sort at that time. If I had, I wouldn't have bought it lol. (This was right around when the original Shield was first introduced) There was nothing but praise for the M&P line from everything that I was hearing and reading during the time that I was looking into it... and since. Maybe they worked those issues out by the time I started looking at them? I dunno, like I keep saying, I'm genuinely surprised to hear of any issues with the M&P.
I actually own a gen 1 M&P9 and its great. However, it was a later model manufactured in 2013 that incorporated changes to the trigger mechanism, frame, and barrel. There still isnt enough grip texture so i put sandpaper tape on it.
love my g19. I carry and compete with it. for sure no performance to be offered by a stock glock that isn't offered by any quality pistol out there, just flat our reliable. I have switched back to my M&P2.0 for carry and matches though earlier this year.
I shot the VP9 and PDP side-by-side and liked the VP9 way more. While I did like the grip and texture of the PDP, I found the overall package of the VP9 better.
I had both and sold the VP9. It was a a grip issue for me. It didn't feel right, which is weird because the P30 and P30L are great! I thought they had the same grip, but it didn't feel like the same grip.
@@onpsxmember Medium and large backstrap with large side panels. That's the same setup I have on my P30 and P30L. I tried mixing it up, but it never quite felt right.
One of the reason for the popularity of Glock is it’s acceptance by Law Enforcement. One of the reasons LE gravitates towards Glock is the simplicity of maintenance and repair. An armorer can be trained in eight hours or less. This is especially important when dealing with large numbers of guns to detail strip and maintain yearly as is the case in many agencies.
For anyone that trains for performance/comp would regularly spend at minimum $200 a month on ammo and supplies; the price of the gun even the modifications don't even come close to making a difference. Just pick a platform that you can mount a solid grip on without hurting and practice the hell out of it
I don't compete, hopefully I will soon, I've been carrying S&W 2.0 4" compact with curve trigger for 4 years now have over 12k rounds now and I'm extremely satisfied. Recoil guide rod spring did crack at about 11k, it ran just fine but i did replace before complete failure but not an issue for me. I love how it looks and feels and the finish is still holding up with about 100 draws a month from a kydex holster.
I'm also a fan of DA/SA guns. I'm playing with a PX4 G-SD from Langdon Tactical and even in competition, I don't notice the long heavy trigger pull. The short trigger reset is worth it to go faster when you need to, but that first shot tells you to slow down and get everything right before you squeeze that first shot.
I have a first generation M&P 9 Pro with an Apex trigger and sear, and it's great. The only other gun I have that I can shoot about as fast and as well is my new Laugo Alien.
It's funny that people are saying Glocks aren't durable, when they're arguably the most durable polymer pistol on the market besides perhaps something like the USP. There's been plenty of Glocks that have made it to 200k rounds, and I've YET to hear of any other pistol even coming close to that. I've heard of P30s making it to 90k, PX4s getting to 60k, but very few pistols make it to 200k. And 200k rounds is equal to $25,000 with the cheapest crappiest bulk ammo I can find online. Who here, (besides a few high-level competitors and guys like Ben), is going to put 200k rounds through ONE gun? I can afford 50 Glocks with how much ammo I'd have to put through one to thoroughly break it. Literally the cheapest thing in the entire equation is the pistol itself.
CZ P10c is very G19 gen 5 like but you have a better trigger, and the grip sits lower in your hand. It was also sub four hundred, so buying mags and ammo for practice is affordable. I carry a G19 gen 5 for work and the only gripe I have is the grip is slightly shorter than I would like, otherwise it is the gold standard.
When I got into guns a few years back I got a Ruger American 9 full size and I was happy with it for years until the last year or so when I started wanting to put a red dot on or add any aftermarket parts like mag extension or trigger, literally no one makes anything for it. I'm now looking to add a new pistol that I can add things to.... looking at M&P 2.0 or Glock or Canick
When you trained said military unit.., are the MK25s we can buy in the stores really the same thing as the ones they have? Do you know? Did you notice?
My son currently works for Naval Land Warfare, they actually track reliability in man portable weapon systems. Their top five systems in terms of reliability are 1) H&K MK23 2) Glock 19 3) HK 416 4) FN 240 5) H&K USP
Bogus. No one uses the mk 23. And just because they use it means nothing. The went with the 226 because they had to be different for their fragile egos. The 226 had failures just like the m9 due to ammo. Stop pretending
I think it's possible I'd like the M&P 2.0 more but I shoot GSSF and that's for Glocks. When I shot USPSA I shot a Glock 34 and sometimes I'd be beat by guys shooting a CZ but it wasn't the gun - it was the shooter.
M&P 2.0 or PDP for me….one day people will realize this isn’t the 80s anymore and Glocks aren’t the only guns that work…AND many of them have much better features than Glocks
My buddies tease me for selecting an FN 509C, but when I saw an optic cut, modular pistol with a threaded barrel and suppressor height sights. . . for $800, and then ran the glock numbers, it was kind of a no brainer 🤷♂️
Question for Ben - I remember you stated you started with a Beretta, then went tanfoglio (spelling?) when you were competing USPSA. I haven’t followed you enough to know but it seems there’s a lot of credence given to using one gun type for a long time to gain skills. After your USPSA departure (and in this video) did that steer you to shooting different guns (Glocks, CZ’s, staccato’s, AR’s, etc.) or did you do that before? Second question, in kind of this same vein do you think it benefits shooters to pick a solid reputable gun and stick with that gun to nail down skills in dry fire and shooting and then after a bit of mastery has developed changing platforms less?
@@Rubeless Brother… you’re in the comments in a video of Ben reading video comments and responding to them telling me Ben doesn’t read and respond to comments. I’m not saying he will, but… go look at his last 15 videos and ask yourself what he is often interacting with.
Near the end of my time working behind a gun counter I got tired of hearing how many guns people owned. "I got maybe 60 pistols" I got around 40 guns" "Probably got 70 or 80" I started asking them which gun they shot best with. That question brought lots of puzzled looks. "What do you mean"? Well--do you actually shoot any of them? Yeah--I put a few rounds down range now and then. It was rare to meet a customer who shot competitively---or at all!
Is there a reason you still seem to use mostly Glock 34s even though they all have optics on them? Online it seems like a lot of people are moving towards the G45/19X with optics
Can you make a video on the correct way to draw from the holster to presentation? I, and im sure many others, were taught “a” way, but I’m sure it’s not the “best” way. I don’t see much content from reliable instructors on how do draw to a perfect presentation, especially in the modern times of red dots on handguns. Thanks!
The last comment is the one that gets me the most. Many have this opinion and I don’t understand it. Folks seem to have a major issue with pulling the trigger to take down guns. Not just the Glock.
Glocks do have a low bow axis and from that should be more shootable than a lot of other polymers. I always recommend DA/SA for newbies though. Just a safer gun for untrained hands.
Who the hell is acting like Walther is just now coming on the scene? Fun fact, Walther was founded in 1886. Glock was founded in 1963. Walther has been around almost a century longer than Glock. Walther offering a RDO cut and more boxy look made the PDP and ultimately more popular. The Walther PPQ and predecessors have been amazing platforms.
They arent as nice to shoot as other polymer guns. Mag price is an issue, so is aftermarket support. If you want to spend 600 bucks ontop of your USP to make it as usable as gun half the price, go for it. Awesome, reliable guns that look good. The problem is that they are kind of like Augs. You need to spend an absurd amount of money to make the gun as capable as an off the shelf AR, and itll never quite get there.
just a little piggybacking on the 19 i live in ca and just picked one up a month after i bought a fn 57 and i honestly dont feel to much different shooting it than the 57 outside of the recoil and smaller frame i find its just as useable as a gun twice the price. not sure why i waited so long to get one im a big fan of it after shooting it for the 1st time
My choice was predicated on how well I shot my Glock 29, Gen 4, which I use for bear protection. This led me to the Glock 27, Gen 4, for lightweight hiking bear protection. Once I decided to try competition, I went with the Glock 49 MOS (w/Holosun EPS) which will also serve as home defense. Just got a 9mm conversion barrel for the 27 for practice and backup for competition. Deep concealment choice, and my favorite, is my Glock 42.
He trains & competes around the nation. I’d be shocked if he hasn’t seen one let alone shot one. - I’ve seen a couple while competing and training. They’re basically a Glock but have extra slide rail space (more than double.) - I’d like to build one but with all OEM internals and oem upper. My research tells me all failures on that platform stem from the ZEV upper. - Curious about what he has to say on it.
ZEV is the only gun you need; it has modern technology advantages and lots of 1911 features; it’s well balanced, flat shooting, and accurate….. everything you need in a do it all handgun. Grip choices another big plus
S&W’s M&P 2.0 line used to be really good. Bought a 4” compact one in or around 2016 (I think) when they still had a hinge trigger, it was a solid gun and I still regret selling it. Nowadays S&W’s QC is disappointing, at best. I have enough people wanting a kydex holster for the Bodyguard 2.0 that I’m picking one up tomorrow just to press holsters on. I’ll definitely take it to the range to say I shot it, but I will honestly be surprised if it doesn’t malfunction.
I really like the grip angle of the Milwaukee 16 ga trim nailer. It’s about 25 percent less reliable than the Dewalt in my evaluation. I’ll keep the Milwaukee because I just like to hold it and convince others to buy something less reliable and feel my pain. How much sense does that make?
I thought Milwaukee was a good brand and dewalt was a notch above black and decker. I have Mikita tools from a sponsor deal, I’m in no way into using them professionally.
@@Rubeless I really did compare the two. I was also just kidding about the grip angle, I didn’t even care about that but the dewalt did work more reliably. Both are the battery powered ones. There’s other types of battery powered carpentry tools where Milwaukee is better in my opinion such as the circular saw.
Hey Ben, I've been shooting production for a few years with decent success, but yesterday I shot a match with a dot for the first time and almost won the level 2 match. Even with zero practice I was able to shoot way better than I ever have in production. Should I just take the leap and switch to PO? Thank you for all the content.
I feel so invested in Glock that I don’t want to really switch it up, seems like there’s better options than Glock but trying to get familiar with all my glocks and become a skilled shooter with them. Carry, home defense and comp one day Maybe next gun would be a double stack 1911 though
Since you shoot CZ what do you think of the p10? I stared with a sp01 moved to the shadow2 and now i find myself using a p10f more and more. Trigger is decent and ergos are nice and after market is pretty good for it.
I watched the other video about this topic. I didn’t comment on that, but I agree with the consensus about the Glock 19. I have run a 19 for many years. It’s as reliable as can be and it’s as accurate as I can be. I’ve taken new Glocks and torture tested them pretty hard and they keep on running. Sure there are prettier, fancier, cooler pistols but the Glock 19 has been a pretty outstanding option for me.
The price is the price. What is the definition of overpriced? 2000 sq ft in San Clemente is a tad more than 2000 sq ft in Sierra vista az. A seiko bs a patek… If you could afford it….
@@Rubeless Why are you always on this channel trying to defend things you have never owned. The Alien is overpriced, does not shoot any better than any other limited gun. The only reason it exists is because people tried to game the carry optics and production system which it failed at. It is legal in limited, but then you have a gun that costs as much as open gun, isnt as reliable as other 2011's, with a worse trigger and aftermarket support. My fully cajunized CZ shadow was a third of an alien. It's carry optic, limited, and production legal depending on how i want to run it. The alien is OBJECTIVELY a worse value than most other guns. Not an opinion, its an objective fact. It's a gun that isnt legal in anything but open and limited, is as expensive as an atlas, but shoots worse than one. It was a hype piece that people who couldnt shoot used at the shot show range day and people ate that shit up. You can buy an open gun for 4500 bucks that runs circles around an alien.
Are there pistols that I like more then a Glock because of the trigger pull, the grip angle, feel, absolutely. Have any of them even come close to a Glock in terms of ease of maintenance or reliability not exactly. The Walther PDP is growing on me. The HK USP is a tank. I am at something like 14k rounds on a gen 5 glock 34 and have not cleaned it once and it still functions flawlessly.
With all the experts on youtube I'll give you average dude perspective, likes to shoot steel targets or whatever, have a good time up in the mountains or the sand dunes, all that. I'm not coming from the perspective of a guy who times his splits, is video worthy, I'm just a guy who grew up in a mid sized city in the Snake River/Tetons area and guns were everywhere. Growing up we'd go shooting, never thought about trigger pull, barrel twist rate, blah blah blah. Was meant to have fun and that's still the way I look at it. Here's my priority list that I look for in a pistol: 1. Looks pretty cool 2. Won't jam 3. Easy to maintain 4. Accurate enough not to be embarrassing 5. Under $1000 (I have expensive pistols like the Staccato and CZ Shadow and while they're f'in great, feel like I got ripped off a little because at my slightly above average skill level they're not so much greater for double or triple the price of other nice pistols) 6. Doesn't make me look like a wannabe douche. Interesting about the M&P. I've been buying quite a few pistols past 3 years, various brands, never really considered M&P. Wasn't really on purpose just with the seemingly hundreds of good options, M&P just never really stood out to me until literally a week or so ago. I stop in at gun shops if I see one just to browse because it's fun. Retired cop I know who runs the D&B Supply gun section is fun to talk to so we were chatting. Knowing me a bit, he said I should check out this 4" steel M&P 2.0 because he knows I also like pistol/PCC combo and M&P has that relatively new foldable PCC. I've toted around a Glock 17 with the Ruger 10122 PCC for a long time when I'm in mountians or back country and don't want to have different mags and ammo. Have to say, 2.0 Metal seems really cool. Weight is good, size is good, grip felt fantastic but what surprised me the most was the trigger. I like the PDP series a lot so I wasn't prepared to be impressed but it felt clean like the Walther trigger. Hard to find youtube reviews on the 2.0 Metal. Anyone have some insight?
Plenty of striker fired, polymer guns that are reliable, walther, fn, cz, hk ive shot and owned them all the cz p10 series woeks best for me, i own the only glock i like which is the g20, the most important factor is training, train with what you like and master it

I don't understand the cant be field stripped without pulling the trigger thing. If you are too dumb to make sure it is empty you have no business trying to take it apart.
@@Rubeless I meant that, Ben proves the old adage "that it's not the shooter, it's the gun". Of course some guns stink, but in the full size world it's skill over product as a general rule.
Glocks don't work for me because I want a thumb safety so I can lighten the trigger more than I could a Glock and still stay safe. Also, the grip angle on Glocks aren't for me. I predict one or more Glocks will have an optional thumb safety in the future. Maybe a model(s) with a different grip angle.

@@Rubeless Gimme a hug
P30/P30L with the LEM trigger is an awesome combination. I wish they offered it optic ready.
Personally, I prefer the P-10F for carry optics. Simple, reliable, and a smooth shooter. To each their own tho!
I'm going to second that. Love my P-10F w/ SRO. GREAT pistol. I do still have some tiny glocks for carry though (42&43)
And they are stupidly cheap. Worth a buy
Can confirm on the M&P. I carry a 2.0 4 inch and have a 5 inch Performance Center with both ported and non-ported barrels I can swap depending on the competition.
Wow, two barrels
@HWG-wm8ld lol it came ported so I had to get the other one to shoot it in carry optics
0:20 "Opinions on the M&P vs the Glocks for competition, any input would help with my decision."
1:18 "Glock 19 is like buying a BCM upper and Aero lower. It's boring, reliable, easy-to-acquire item that will work, and no one will be impressed."
1:47 "Glock 19 or Glock 45 is probably two most recommended pistols. I'm a bigger guy so I favor 4-inch slide with full size grip. PDP 4-inch pistol I want to try out in the future."
2:14 "Glock 19 has been so successful as a do-all handgun that it's a archetype now. Anyone brings up buying a 9mm polymer-frame pistol, the Glock 19 is usually the first one people mention, it's the default option, which is why most people start with the Glock 19 and then move on to other things pretty quickly. The Glock 19 has a place in the gun collection of everyone, it's by no means everyone's first choice but it's a millennial and Gen-X handgun of choice, much like the 1911 was for boomers and Silent generation."
3:06 "Really enjoy the content lately, maybe I haven't watched enough of your videos to hear your thoughts on the M&P line. It seems that I hear more and more online these days about Springfield and Canik."

4:30 "M&P 2.0 compact 4-inch barrel, same size as the Glock 19, M&P 2.0 triggers (have) a very defined wall so you know when it breaks, easy to hit 2-inch targets consistently or targets at distance when you prep the trigger. My Glock 19 trigger has a rolling break with the spongy feel, harder and slower for me to take those precision and distance shots. M&P 2.0 has a more natural grip angle, the dot is on target straight from the draw, with the Glock I have to remember I'm shooting a Glock and I have to remind myself to bend my wrist down to find the dot."
5:09 "I own lots of guns and only 2 Glocks, a 19 and a 17. One is my bedside gun, the other I carry. That's what I think about Glocks."
5:28 "Fanboy or not gonna have a tough time outperforming a Glock 19."
6:06 "If I just wanted to buy a pistol for self-protection like the majority of people do, then a Glock most likely is the best pistol to buy. There probably are other objectively better performing polymer-frame pistols than the Glock in just about every category but lack of (the) market demand of the Glock and therefore they simply cannot keep up."
7:26 "Another reason Glock owns the market: because they were the first polymer-frame pistol, so naturally over the course of a couple of decades people are gonna be more familiar with the Glock than they will the S&W M&P or Walther PDP, and therefore there's gonna be more wide use of the Glock, and meaning more aftermarket support meaning more demand."
8:35 "It's all kind of pointless nowadays because there's a lot of pistols and weapons generally you simply cannot go wrong with. Being accurate, reliable, affordable, and available aren't characteristics specific to just one make and model."
8:57 "You prissy bi-ch of a gun snob, it's part of why your channel is good. Most gun snobs are emotional but you seem to have real reasons behind it. I bought a 226 recently and I like it, but realistically my Glock 19 is more utilitarian in most aspects, although I like the 226 experience better. No longer a comp shooter btw just have guns for self-defense."
11:01 "I agree with you Mr. Stagger [sic] I've owned many different pistols other than a Glock and finally made the decision a few years back to train with what I carry on and off duty, that's the Glock. G45 MOS is my favorite, if I had to pick one it'd be the G19. I sold most of my inventory to focus on training using one platform, couldn't be happier, even with all the disgust I get for shooting a Glock."
11:33 "Video title: Best Pistol Ever **Holds up a Glock** 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦I'm outta here, better things to do with my time."
11:41 "If I can only use one, I would choose something that was proven to not break at very high round counts. Think there's probably better options than Glocks now."
11:59 "I heard rental Gen 3 Glocks would crack slides at 100k rounds, and Gen 4 starts seeing frame failure at 10k rounds. So it seems Glock is a brand name with degrading quality possibly? I would want something guaranteed to run for a long time without critical parts failure and to be logistically independent as possible except ammo."
12:32 "I don't even own a Glock, I have numerous other options. If I were forced to pick one I'd get the 19, the only alternative would be the M&P 9 in the same form factor. But the Glock 19 wins because of the abuse that people have forced them through along with the track record. I'm not a huge fan of them but I'd choose them for sure."
13:08 "Glock 19 is a Toyota Camry of guns, it does what it needs to pretty well, there's nothing wrong with them. I tell everyone who asks if you can shoot a Glock 19, buy a Glock 19. I don't like them as much as my P320 so I don't shoot one, but if I was rich I'd buy about a dozen to have in case someone needed a gun."
13:32 "I really look at the 19, I say this as someone who EDCs a Gen 5 19, as the best compromise pistol. I'd argue the 48, especially with the Shield mag, makes a more compelling carry gun."
14:12 "I prefer my Canik TP9, it doesn't feel like holding a block of wood, the only reasonable justification for a Glock has been its reliability. Obviously my personal opinion, but I know it's shared with many others."
15:10 "Glocks suck, I have never regretted selling all the ones I've ever bought because they don't do anything well enough to warrant keeping them. MOS is a shit system for many reasons; for newer shooters, limp wristing tends to jam them; their mags are too thick and therefore hold way less rounds than they should; their Performance Trigger has issues; can't be field stripped without the pull of a trigger; and so on and so forth…"

Lol agreed! Safariland numbering system is a mess.

Safariland is extremely good @@scottc77

Re: Glock Service Life
A lot of the impressions about frames cracking after 100,000 rounds on rental guns does not account for whether or not those rental guns had their springs, especially the recoil spring, replaced on any sort of a meaningful schedule.
When recoil springs and parts are replaced at the end of their intended service life, those frames and guns will go forever - this is true of pretty much every accepted service pistol.
At this point in time there are so many options for reliable pistols just pick a recognized brand, choose a model, and train with it.
It’s that easy.
There are VERY few reliable handguns---period.

even if my 17 slide does crack at 100k rounds, i’ve run $30k worth of cheap factory ammo through it and like im kinda ok with that. that seems reliable enough for me idk
I’ve never heard you talk about the H&K VP9. Do you have any experience with it?

This is literally the first I've ever heard of 1st gen M&Ps "leaving a bad taste" with people. I bought my M&P over 10 years ago and they had a reputation for being solid, reliable guns on par with Glock even back then. Aside from the hinged trigger design, you'd be hard pressed to find anything negative that people would say about them. That statement really caught me by surprise.
Nah it was a well known dumpster fire. Just look at the trigger safety…

There were many that had barrels that were lemons in terms of accuracy from the og m&p
Ben, what about the VP9? It's got comparable ergos/trigger to the PDP, but the recoil is much much better (not quite a glock, but close)

Who worries about a Glock failing at 100,000 rounds which cost 20 grand, when you can buy a new Glock for $400? Absolute comedy😂
well not new but agree
I have a first generation M&P 9 Pro with an Apex trigger and sear, and it's great. The only other gun I have that I can shoot about as fast and as well is my new Laugo Alien.
Sure
The grip but not the slide. I still like it though.
CZ P-07 is slept on for ccdw.
I think either a Glock 19 or an SCT43SC + PSA Micro Dagger slide would be a good first gun. I like the extra concealable aspect of the slimline.
It’s close to a full size, but more concealable than a 17/45, so you can conceal it as a CCW but it’s not a stupid 26.
Beretta 92, SiG P226, HK USP/P30 - Three most reliable guns ever made.

Bogus. No one uses the mk 23. And just because they use it means nothing. The went with the 226 because they had to be different for their fragile egos. The 226 had failures just like the m9 due to ammo.

I'm convinced some people's true lovers are their brand of firearm, and not their girlfriends/wives 😂
So many good choices these days. Just pick what works for you.

If your fundamentals are sound then switching platforms shouldn’t be an issue. Just my opinion

Do you carry a self defense handgun with you and if you do what is it and what ammo you use.
I guarantee you'll it'll be a Glock with either Gold Dots or HST's.
Why do people ask this question? He carries a hoyt compound bow with infinity broad heads.
I cant believe no one has brought up the HK USP.
It’s a giant gun made by a reputable high quality manufacturer.
Happy?
They arent as nice to shoot as other polymer guns. Mag price is an issue, so is aftermarket support. If you want to spend 600 bucks ontop of your USP to make it as usable as gun half the price, go for it. Awesome, reliable guns that look good. The problem is that they are kind of like Augs. You need to spend an absurd amount of money to make the gun as capable as an off the shelf AR, and itll never quite get there.
just a little piggybacking on the 19 i live in ca and just picked one up a month after i bought a fn 57 and i honestly dont feel to much different shooting it than the 57 outside of the recoil and smaller frame i find its just as useable as a gun twice the price. not sure why i waited so long to get one im a big fan of it after shooting it for the 1st time
Loved your take on the comments. Talk about a hornet’s nest of opinions…I’m still chuckling.

There’s other types of battery powered carpentry tools where Milwaukee is better in my opinion such as the circular saw.
Yeah I got the joke part. I use the same one when students complain about “feel”.
I haven't heard you say much about the P-10 series. Have you given these a fair shake, and what do you think of them?
HK USP with LEM trigger.
I feel so invested in Glock that I don’t want to really switch it up, seems like there’s better options than Glock but trying to get familiar with all my glocks and become a skilled shooter with them. Carry, home defense and comp one day
Maybe next gun would be a double stack 1911 though
The best pistol is the one you have the most consistent scoring results with.
Since you shoot CZ what do you think of the p10?
I stared with a sp01 moved to the shadow2 and now i find myself using a p10f more and more. Trigger is decent and ergos are nice and after market is pretty good for it.
Glock19 with apex trigger shoe on a Glock performance trigger is the best handgun💅
Isnt the best gun the one that fits you the best. And flows with you? Just have to find the right one.
Ben strikes me of having a surfer's aesthetic.
Pimping the vortex hat…nice
I watched the other video about this topic. I didn’t comment on that, but I agree with the consensus about the Glock 19. I have run a 19 for many years. It’s as reliable as can be and it’s as accurate as I can be. I’ve taken new Glocks and torture tested them pretty hard and they keep on running. Sure there are prettier, fancier, cooler pistols but the Glock 19 has been a pretty outstanding option for me.
Have you worked with the SAO 226 models much?
Ben…
Just get a Laugo Alien
And an SVI Infinity, because if you hate money you might as well...
Shot one a month ago. Overpriced hype piece
The price is the price. What is the definition of overpriced? 2000 sq ft in San Clemente is a tad more than 2000 sq ft in Sierra vista az.
A seiko bs a patek…
If you could afford it….
Why are you
Feel vindicated after Ben says nice things about my beloved M&P 2.0!
HK USP!
Everyone knows the most comfortable and reliable pistol is Taurus PT111 g2, G2C, G3C, GX4. When you want reliability and class go Taurus. 🙂
What will it take to see Ben compare a P01 vs P07??
I understand the Shadow2 love and focus but I’m curious to Ben’s thoughts on CZ’s lineup
You have a knack for stirring the pot sir, good on ya.
Glock 19: The benchmark standard everyone tries, and fails, to beat.
Here's my priority list that I look for in a pistol:
1. Looks pretty cool
2. Won't jam
3. Easy to maintain
4. Accurate enough not to be embarrassing
5. Under $1000 (I have expensive pistols like the Staccato and CZ Shadow and while they're f'in great, feel like I got ripped off a little because at my slightly above average skill level they're not so much greater for double or triple the price of other nice pistols)
Honest Outlaw reviewed the M&P metal.
@@J.Young808 Thanks.
Plenty of striker fired, polymer guns that are reliable, walther, fn, cz, hk ive shot and owned them all the cz p10 series woeks best for me, i own the only glock i like which is the g20, the most important factor is training, train with what you like and master it
Question for Ben - I remember you stated you started with a Beretta, then went tanfoglio (spelling?) when you were competing USPSA. I haven’t followed you long enough to know but it seems there’s a lot of credence given to using one gun type for a long time to gain skills. After your USPSA departure (and in this video training organizations that used different guns) did that steer you to shooting different guns (Glocks, CZ’s, staccato’s, AR’s, etc.) or did you do that before?
Second question, in kind of this same vein do you think it benefits shooters to pick a solid reputable gun and stick with that gun to nail down skills in dry fire and shooting and then after a bit of mastery has developed changing platforms less? It seems like the obvious answer would be “yes”, but you never know and I was curious to confirm whether it was obvious or was there more to it?
Same answer
Longevity??? Hk usp.
I don't understand the cant be field stripped without pulling the trigger thing. If you are too dumb to make sure it is empty you have no business trying to take it apart.
Too dumb to pick it up in the first place.
as a Glock 19 owner and carrier I think the 48 is my favorite
Thanks for reading my comment, Ben.

The glock haters are hilarious.
as are the fan boys. sad people cant just like what they like without some karen getting all wound up about it.
Its wild because our leader can make anything go bang, and people still want their gun to be the problem solver.
What
@@Rubeless I meant that, Ben proves the old adage "that it's not the shooter, it's the gun". Of course some guns stink, but in the full size world it's skill over product as a general rule.
But it is the shooter, not the gun.
