I would suggest the next event would be split between canon and homebrew (custom) chapters. I think that would give fair and diverse results from submissions.
Caught off guard by the Silver Templars, I thought this was a custom/homebrew heraldry/chapter competition. They’re an all Primaris chapter and unfortunately you can’t stay too true to their color scheme due to the fact their chest piece is black (Not the Aquila, the actual chest chassis). And the Silver Templars are Ultramarines successors not Dorn’s lineage, love that Chapter. And the Roman numeral on the knee represents Squad number not Legion/Chapter. And the black color on the knee at the background of the Roman numeral represents Company color, so black would be 5th Company. Thank you for doing this for the community, this is awesome and hopefully I can hop in here I got some homebrews of my own. Mocking Raiders and Jaeger Marshals, both chapters you might just be able to Google if anyone is curious. M
I know very little about the lore of Warhammer 40k. I made a blue and white diagonally squared heraldry, only to be told that that is what the Novamarines use. The Novamarines have good taste. I think it is such a cool color combination.
Honestly for something like this I think it looks better using the more basic armour pieces that show off the colour schemes and decals better than the more complex parts which all start to look the same across the colour schemes.
It would be cool to see in the character customizing screen if you could toggle your weapon on/off. This would really shine when comparing melee weapon skins with your actual space marine
I really enjoyed watching the contest, I love to see what creative things people come up with. It's a great thing to see in the community, looking forward to the next one!
It seems like no one noticed until now. But there is a bug with the different black tones. I think black tones for nuln oil and another black (I think Iron hands) accidentally switched with the first patch. Previously nuln oil was the darkest (also reflective/wet looking) tone while now its brighter and matte. While iron hands now has this super dark tone
I will stand by iron hands steel against brighter mat colors. I have a covenant of fire built on heavy rn and it stands out great against the orange of the chest and legs. Nuln oil looks almost dark grey in that context.
There's a nice mod that lets you hide gear so you can essentially remove the extras like ornaments, ropes, seals, decals, etc to better suit other chapters and just look overall cleaner

I'm just seeing this after Entering my Death Company into the community contest. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. I've also corrected the right pauldron . And made and Sanguinary Guard also and a Sanguinary Priest 🫡. For Sanguinius ❤️
Man, I would've loved to send in my Sons of Malice Assault, but I understand that I wouldn't have made it very far. All of these models kinda just rock.
It's really sad that they nerfed Nuln Oil. They could've at least given that level of saturation and glossiness to another primary black...Abaddon Black has it, but only for decals (as shown in the video). Also, I really wish they would fix the transparency for decals. I used to cancel out the Omega symbol from the Omega Marines shoulder decal, so you'd be left with just the skull, but now it's at like 5% transparency.

This contest was mainly between assault and tactical classes lol. Luckily I have them maxed out and can copy these awesome designs. I feel the other classes, especially sniper and vanguard are missing alot in the drip department
Totally agree. Example: sniper's boots basically change nothing going from the first to the last ornament, that's pretty lame. Also, vanguard basically just adds pouches and tactical gear when you progress, also pretty lame...
I tried to make my own paint schemes, because I don’t want to copy other people, but every attempt resulted in me not liking it. And since I’m extremely indecisive I ultimately ended up switching back to default Ultramarines color preset. I guess custom things are not for everyone.

One is still WIP but it's my favorite concept. 1: MURICARINES! which I probably wouldn't do as that kinda satire Hits as a bit more.... Political then intended after recent events. 2: An, if I may, very accurate recreation of the cannon Salamander successor. The Covenant of Fire. 3: The Silver Skulls chapter (as presented in The Infinite and the Divine.) AKA Nihilakh dynasty. Though this will be a lot easier to sell if I can change the lieutenant helm strips color.
