I get your comparison with the preds for nightlords but honestly the two of them are way too different. For example predators are honestly a pretty chill race, despite them hunting it’s mainly only those that they believe are going to provide a good hunt. Hence why they go after extremely dangerous prey whereas humanity is a favorite due to our unpredictability that they love. However they despise making those suffer unless it is absolutely necessary. They view it as dishonorable and cowardly and only do flaying after they kill a target to claim a trophy. Or if they were hungry which they pick the weakest member of a species so they don’t affect the population negatively. Whereas if you manage to beat them they will give you a trophy of your own to keep or will outright let you join them which has happened a few times. Which a few humans having become proper hunters themselves.

One of the most horror things Ive taken part in was during a LARP event where we had to fight a bunch of 'Life Primals' - coalesced energy of life basically. Nominally, they were on our side, as this fight was to determine if we were worthy for a blessing from the bigger Life primal in the area. Hey there are people who skip out on content for way less, tons of respect for you powering through all this and still putting out videos!! Good luck to you and your household!!!
As someone who just got into Warhammer because of SM2, Nurgle always presented as the most terrifying one. It gives me the same vibe as Tyranids where they likely leave battles increasing their resources due to rot. That and the sight of seeing a whole army of corrupted marines marching towards you and not slowing down no matter how hard you fight would be so crazy to see
I mean, I'm very aware that if I got the chance I'd be diving into tzeentch's slimy tentacles immediately, and I sort of get how you'd fall to slaanesh or khorne, but nurgle? just... no
I love the way you mentioned how easy it could be to fall into the trappings that drive the Emperor's Children. It's one of the main reasons they are my favorite of the chaos legions. The chaos legions are all aspects of humanity, wrath, mortality, deceit, knowledge, religiosity, etc. The Emperor's Children are slaves to vice and ambition. All of humanity's hedonistic desires, the pursuits of humanity with their limits shattered and removed, are rent from their healthy, enjoyable self-fulfillment roots and planted in a miserable, unending dredge through the mires of cloying disappointment. That thin line between motivational fulfillment and torturous perfectionism fascinates me in a way that no other chaos legion does, with the exception of the Sons of Malice, which arguably dont count. To me, the best horror is the closest to reality, and chaos doesn't get much more real than perversions of what so readily drives us every day. To be human is to suffer, and yet desire in spite of it, to be a noise marine is to desire, and yet suffer because of it.
im glad you and your family are safe, i hope that your home is rebuilt sooner then later. love that this kind of videos exist, not everyone focus on the small details like this;
They're all terrifying in their own ways but the Night Lords are themed around scaring the throne out of everyone. Also, hope you get through this tough period Wes. Best of luck to you and your wife in getting through this
Massive fan of the channel! Thank you for this treat! I've ravenously devoured every video you've put out and I loved your writing for this vid so much that when I finished this I rewound it and immediately watched the whole thing again. 😁 You rock! Wish you and your loved ones good luck with the storm and stuff!
Alpha legion would probably at least kinda sorta look after you. They're the one traitor legion who actually values their human assets and will actually give an effort to protect or extract you if your cover is blown or the like. Your a useful asset and they value that, even if they don't actually value 'you' for being you.
@@jg2323 Yeah, Alpha are definitely the least terrifying of the 'traitor' Legions to me - YMMV on if they are or aren't, they're not even sure so how can we be? - okay sure there's psychological horror on steroids with them given the whole "maybe everyone except you is actually an Alpha Legion asset" thing... but they don't go in for torture (ala the Night Lords, Emperor's Children and Death Guard), pry don't really do body horror (ala Night Lords, Emperor's Children, Death Guard, Iron Warriors and Thousand Sons), worst case you're pry just gonna get killed.
Yeah but Tzeentch will screw you over for: failing to carry out the plan (forcing him to use a different one), succeeding in carrying out the plan (likely foiling a different one), and... shits and giggles.
Hey Wes, i have a video idea. I know you've already done a lot of videos on orks but could you shed some light into the their horrific aspect? Ive read Brutal Kunnin, i know the Orks are funny but in the 40k community, the ork's humourous sides sometimes is treated as their sole defining quality. People seem to forget that in the Grimdark future, the orks are some of the greatest horrors. I recommend reading Rynn's World for reasearch, it sheds some light into the cruelty of the orks.
I'm glad to hear you're doing alright, I totally forgot you lived down there. We've been busy shipping out water pumps and generators the past few weeks, mostly down south to Florida and Georgia. Hopefully, those are making an impact and helping out your neighbors. Quite a few of us have been working extra overtime just to try to be of some sort of help.
I'm happy seeing you so active, Wes. I hope that your home, family, and miniatures are well in this turbulent time of storms. Man's taking a Stormcast arrival to the face and still dropping fire content. Be well.
18:14 I'd say Orcs are far more pure than any Night Lord. Orks simply LOVE fighting, and not any kind, hand to hand frontline melee, they love battle! They see stealth as cowardly. It's like how we need to eat sleep drink, they also need to fight, and they HATE the Dark Eldar, they see torture as pointless and cruel, and even were weirded out by how hateful humans were, or "beakies". It's why they are immune to Chaos, it simply has nothing they want. Orks may want to prove superiority, but they only do so because battling is so fun.
You got a couple points wrong here. For one, as far as I have gleaned from all the lore, Plague Marines dont FEEL "pain" anymore. Its one of the gifts of Nurgle, he gives them their boon away from the pain that disease and decay can cause. From what I remember, pain gets replaced with melancholy. The Predators (or the YAUTJA as their race is called) dont kill for "pleasure" or to cause "fear". They are hunters. They kill for sport, and they even have an honor system (which was shown in a scene in Predator 2. He didnt kill one of the female cops going after him because he saw that she was pregnant), usually they wont kill women (unless they see them as an actual threat) or children, the sick or infirm. There was a LOT of expanded and great lore done on them in the old Dark Horse comics, and those garbage AvP movies can mostly be ignored.
based on the lords of silence book, plague marines absolutely feel pain. It just does not bother them anymore. Just like their bodies being melted into their suits dosnt really bother them. So i would agree, they dont feel pain in the same way we do.
I’m very always loved the Thousand sons for many reasons. Their asthetic is awesome, Tzeench is my fav chaos god, and their lore is super good. Plus the Eldritch and unknowable horror of the Changer of Ways is always my favorite kind of horror
Q: are there any documented instances of a space marine....quitting? And like....doing the same thing the Clones would do in SW, have a regular life? OR like the Alpha Legion infiltrating a society as "a genetically altered worker" but in a more authorive role, using their Astartes genes/training to perhaps rule a planet?
Take it easy and make sure you're taking care of yourself! Things are hard these days and you deserve to take all the time you need getting things put back together. I didn't even know very much about Warhammer until your great story telling sucked me in (you've financially ruined me). It's been great watching your channel grow from really early on and I hope it keeps growing, you deserve it! I'll make sure to have your stuff on repeat in the background to help out how I can!
Hey man I really appreciate the super thanks and I'm sorry about your loss back in 2012. I hope everything ended up working out for you in the long run
I’ve just recently discovered you but you have introduced so much warhammer 40k lore to me. I hope you and your wife are able to get y’all home back sooner. Thank you for the videos btw🙏
Huzzah for more Chaos content! I admit I used to be one of those "The World Eaters are the least scary Chaos Legion" people, but I appreciate the new perspective you've given me. I *love* 28 Days Later, so I don't know why I never made the connection, but that comparison totally makes sense. Imagining that scenario but with World Eaters instead of regular infected people... oof. The Thousand Sons will always be my favorites, but to me, it's the Death Guard that are the scariest. With every other Legion, there is at least the possibility of a "clean" victory (literally and metaphorically), with the Thousand Sons and Alpha Legion as... sort-of exceptions due to never really being able to know if you truly came out on top or not. But with the Death Guard, just going into combat with them is a losing proposition. You might win the fight, but you will have been exposed to horrific pathogens that could kill you (or worse) afterwards regardless. Plus the fight itself is just guaranteed to be miserable from start to finish.
Entirely unrelated to the video - You should watch "In A Violent Nature". It's a great classic slasher flick that doesn't try to play any games or hide its intention, much like the World Eaters. It's violent for violence sake, and it's a great film.
I’ve always loved the Alpha Legion. Masters of infiltration and sabotage, with their camo capabilities and slow but steady undermining of their enemies, often from within…how devious!
I can't even begin to imagine what you've gone through recently. However, what I can express is my happiness to see new content from you Wes. Thanks for being who you are!
40:18 In the Hammer and Bolter episode on the Iron Warriors, when the Warriors announce that the planet they've "liberated" is now under new management, the commissar immediately takes the knee, but the planetary defense force officer refuses. The warriors let her live, but kill the commissar. While I can understand the attitude of "I like your spunk", that doesn't seem to jive with what we learn of the Iron Warriors here, and what I've read on the wiki. Are there novels or such about them sparing the defiant?
Its not so much "sparing the defiant" or "I like your spunk", she basically follows the teachings of Iron, the core beliefs/philosophy of the iron warriors. This is a common theme throughout the episode as she's often quoting things like "iron within", "better to die than submit" etc. The Terminator mentions that when he was recruited from the world "iron" still ran in their veins, basically the people shared the iron warriors beliefs and so submits them to the "test of iron", do they submit or stand firm even though it could mean death. She passes showing she is "worthy". Philosophically she's Iron Warrior. "Iron within, Iron without".
A similar thing does actually happen in the book Storm of Iron. Granted, this is only one example, but combined with your example and the one from the comment above me, it does seem to at least suggest a pattern.
As far as im aware the death guard dont feel any pain, that was part of nurgles gift is that they wouldnt feel pain anymore. They are truly happy and trying to spread nurgles gift thinking they are helping others
Dang dude, I'm really sorry to hear you were affected by the flooding. You and your love ones are safe and that's the most important thing. Will be looking forward to some more sick 40k videos when things settle down!
Sorry to hear about how the storm affected you brother. I live in florida, I feel your pain. Thanks for keeping up the good work and still putting out videos for us. You're the man
I've always seen the World Eaters as kind of unique amongst the Chaos Legions. Most others have become blind devotees, zealots, and sometimes just slaves to their respective gods. The World Eaters, however, have a strangely symbiotic relationship with Khorne. Thanks to the butcher's nails, the World Eaters already craved slaughter and violence. Then a Big Red Dude in the Sky came along and was like "Do all that in my name, and I'll make you even better at it" and the World Eaters were like "Bet." Nothing really changed for them, they just found a sponsor.
I had no idea that you had been affected by the hurricane. Glad to hear that you and your family are safe and big respect to you for continuing to put out great content while you are dealing with this difficult time.
Man, I feel like the quality of your scripts has shot way up recently! Love how you focused on nitty gritty points of discussion, like the sadism of the NLs vs EC. Keep it up!
I hope creating these videos isn't causing even more unnecessary stress with this whole hurricane business your dedication to your craft is admirable never stop being weshammer ❤❤❤
I think you're missing an aspect of the horror; the horror of *being* one of these marines. With very few exceptions, these chaos marines started out as noble, even heroic figures. Now, they're debased, corrupted, and maddened by Chaos, twisted into dark reflections of what they might have been.
Sorry for your house being impacted, but glad you guys are safe and that some real commitment making these videos. I really appreciate it, love your work
So sorry you got affected badly by the hurricane, hope everything works out for you. I think for me it's between the Night Lords or Word Bearers, the "cause we can" sadism vs complete unreasoning zealotry.

That and the sight of seeing a whole army of corrupted marines marching towards you and not slowing down no matter how hard you fight would be so crazy to see
Bro wanna see nurgle in an interesting light arch did the siege of vraks and chaos came to vraks
Don't forget the horde of poxwalkers charging around them!
I mean, I'm very aware that if I got the chance I'd be diving into tzeentch's slimy tentacles immediately, and I sort of get how you'd fall to slaanesh or khorne, but nurgle? just... no
As a veteran in the whm40k topic, Nurgle and the death guard are the scariest, not even a question
Nurgle's draw is survival, no longer feel pain and so on
The Deathguard part was flawlessly written. hats off!
Sorry to hear about the damage to your house but I'm glad you and your loved ones are alright
Emperor's Children are 100% the scariest. Lots of grape, full Hellraiser. Second are the Iron Warriors...for similar reasons.
I dunno... I kinda like grape.
Two videos from Wes feels like an early Christmas gift.
To be human is to suffer, and yet desire in spite of it, to be a noise marine is to desire, and yet suffer because of it.
im glad you and your family are safe, i hope that your home is rebuilt sooner then later.
love that this kind of videos exist, not everyone focus on the small details like this;
They're all terrifying in their own ways but the Night Lords are themed around scaring the throne out of everyone.
Also, hope you get through this tough period Wes. Best of luck to you and your wife in getting through this
“Life has been pretty chaotic.“
Sounds like heresy
Massive fan of the channel! Thank you for this treat! I've ravenously devoured every video you've put out and I loved your writing for this vid so much that when I finished this I rewound it and immediately watched the whole thing again. 😁
You rock! Wish you and your loved ones good luck with the storm and stuff!
Bottom line: Join Tzeentch. No brain-nails. No nipple twisting. No permanent hangover.
EDIT: Okay forget it, go Alpha Legion!
This is the most lore accurate edit I have ever seen XD
(Hydra Dominatus)
Join Necoho
Isn't Rynn's world the book with Ork "Cattle"?
OR like the Alpha Legion infiltrating a society as "a genetically altered worker" but in a more authorive role, using their Astartes genes/training to perhaps rule a planet?
space marines do not have some feelings and probably do not think like normal humans do... To quit - Idont think but to become corrupted -- oh yes
Glad to hear your stuff wasn't totally ruined. Godspeed on the repairs, homey.
I’m just glad that you both are safe and I hope your home is repaired quicker than 3 months.
Awesome video as always dude.
Good to see you back, Wes! You've been through a lot this past few weeks and still you spoil us with two new videos this month? You're an absolute lad
I know how hard this experience is, I lost my home to Hurricane Sandy back in 2012. Thanks for keeping up the content and stay safe!
Hey man I really appreciate the super thanks and I'm sorry about your loss back in 2012. I hope everything ended up working out for you in the long run
@weshammer Thanks, and yeah I was able to get back on my feet and doing just fine now! I believe the same will be in your future, too
I’ve just recently discovered you but you have introduced so much warhammer 40k lore to me.
1:26 I hope everything gets better ❤️💖
I’ve always loved the Alpha Legion. Masters of infiltration and sabotage, with their camo capabilities and slow but steady undermining of their enemies, often from within…how devious!
I can't even begin to imagine what you've gone through recently. However, what I can express is my happiness to see new content from you Wes. Thanks for being who you are!
Do what you need. I would rather you do what is needed for the safety of your family then listen to your amazing voice and lore
My heart goes out to you man, I hope things get better for you, all the love and support here
20:14 Ok the guitar goes hard though
Ah, love the Night Lord's
The Screaming Gallery, Talos and his insane Astropathic message to Imperial Worlds in Void Stalker, perfection
As far as im aware the death guard dont feel any pain, that was part of nurgles gift is that they wouldnt feel pain anymore. They are truly happy and trying to spread nurgles gift thinking they are helping others
Admittedly I know most of the facts in your videos but I find them are very relaxing and calming and I love watching
Dang dude, I'm really sorry to hear you were affected by the flooding. You and your love ones are safe and that's the most important thing. Will be looking forward to some more sick 40k videos when things settle down!
Hope you and the family are good mate.
Thank you for still providing us with great content.
I cant get enough of these 40k horror stories, your narration is awesome, you are awesome
I had no idea that you had been affected by the hurricane. Glad to hear that you and your family are safe and big respect to you for continuing to put out great content while you are dealing with this difficult time.
Let’s be honest working in making corpse starch in the Underhyve of the Imperium is probably more horrible than Chaos itself lol
Hope things get better my man, you’ve been angel to us newbies to warhammer
Glad you are all safe and really appreciate your work 🙏
best of luck with hurricane repairs! We appreciate all your videos!
so sorry to hear about your home, what a nightmare, hope you the best. recently found your channel and loving it
Man, I feel like the quality of your scripts has shot way up recently! Love how you focused on nitty gritty points of discussion, like the sadism of the NLs vs EC. Keep it up!
I hope creating these videos isn't causing even more unnecessary stress with this whole hurricane business your dedication to your craft is admirable never stop being weshammer ❤❤❤
stay safe out there wes!! thank you for the hard work
I think you're missing an aspect of the horror; the horror of *being* one of these marines. With very few exceptions, these chaos marines started out as noble, even heroic figures. Now, they're debased, corrupted, and maddened by Chaos, twisted into dark reflections of what they might have been.
That toaster torture art floored me.
Sorry for your house being impacted, but glad you guys are safe and that some real commitment making these videos. I really appreciate it, love your work
Before watching this I decided that the scariest fate of all would be getting hunted down by the Salamanders, with absolutely no explanation.
man your the only youtuber who I actually plan out when Im gonna watch your new vid
“Who am I? I AM A WARRIOR!!!” You are a warrior and thank you for pumping out content during this tough time ❤❤❤❤
So sorry you got affected badly by the hurricane, hope everything works out for you.
I think for me it's between the Night Lords or Word Bearers, the "cause we can" sadism vs complete unreasoning zealotry.
Im so sorry about your home that’s so terrible and to still put out content as incredible as this is amazing I wish you the best of luck moving forward😊
You have proven to be both Iron Within AND Iron Without! I wish you luck Wes, thank you for all you do!
0:42 - can you tell me who the artist is that made this? It's gorgeous
whoever finds out, i'll paint you a cool 40k painting !
I recognize the style, I think it's by Miguel Iglesias. He's done illustrations for 40k codexes as well as concept art for Darktide.
@@Medved725 Perfect!
I've seen other works of him, I knew I recognized it too, I'm just terrible with names... There are so many good artists out there.
Btw, this particular work is called "Alpha Legion Champion: Chaos Space Marines Codex-Warhammer 40k" on his artstation!
Anyway, what would you like painted? I'll try not to disappoint
@@kyberite No need, I just wanted to be helpful.
Great video, personal favourites are Night Lords and Thousand Sons, non-mentioned favourite is Red Corsairs with their piracy and denial of self elements
Oh my gosh. I had no idea you were hit by the recent hurricane. My prayers and regards to you and your family.
I love your content, I got into warhammer 40k because of you weshammer please keep being a amazing content creator ❤️
WHAT, OH MY GOD, I’M GLAD YOU’RE GOOD????
Man, those warp storms down south are RELENTLESS XD Glad everyone’s safe~
I love the chaos factions, this was just what I needed for this Halloween
This is my literal go-to channel for some grim dark lore 🙌
Bro your lore videos are the best and I’m always looking forward to the next one keep doing what your doing your the best at it. I hope your place gets fixed and you can go home sooner rather than later. Love your content and just remember that what you do makes people’s days have a good one your viewer Wolf and before you ask yes it’s my birth name
Hurricane recovery is no joke man. Hope you guys get the support you need and people don’t try to give you the run around.
just glad you all are safe man we can all wait on the videos
Sorry to hear about your house mate. Glad you’re okay. Hope everything comes good soon.
The sheer horror of each Traitor Legion really comes through here the Death Guard’s embrace of decay, the World Eaters’ endless bloodlust, and the insidious schemes of the Alpha Legion… it’s hard not to get drawn deeper into their dark histories. I found myself especially haunted by the Word Bearers and their twisted faith. The whispers of the warp truly run deep in this one so much lore to unravel!
Your channel is awesome man and has gotten me more into warhammer I hope everything works out and I’ll. E praying for you man ❤
im just glad you and your wife are okey and made it out in time!! please take time for you and your wife you both just went through alot please rest well both of you
That 28 days later analogy shattered my now previous understanding of the world eaters 😮
Wes is back
Glad you and your family are ok. Hope everything goes well and your house is fix soon
Sorry to hear about your troubles, best of luck to y'all!
I hope you guys are okay 👍. Me and my wife were in a category 5 in Panama City Beach a few years ago, and we've been hit twice this year already. But I've been a Florida Man for 40 years, I even remember Hurricane Andrew in the 90s in Miami. Good luck to you, and thanks for the hard work.✌️
I'm glad that you & your wife are getting through your situation. Hopefully the three months go by quickly!
hey Wes, I love your lore videos, thank you for doing them. Would you consider doing a video dedicated to Vashtor? I don't think there is a lot of info available right now, but I'm building a list with him at the top and mostly daemon engines, stuff like forgefiends, venomcrawlers, etc. I'd love to see what you come up with.
Greetings from western NC! Glad ur back and that y’all and equally importantly ur miniatures are safe! But sorry about ur place and studio. Please keep up the videos at whatever pace works for you now!
Glad you’re ok Wes hammer. Love the videos
So sorry to hear about your home, glad you and the wife and the minis are safe, focus on your craft and work and you'll be back to your studio in no time
24:45 Immediately clocked this phrase as someone who's used Chatgpt to write my school essays. Game recognises game.
Hope everything is ok and you get blessed by the chaos gods while enduring hurricane milton.
