Sorry, I am a numbers guy, but yes if you going to use veterans without dependents for example then Chapter 35 numbers doesn't count so its $932,000. Overall with healthcare, dental, vision, hearing aids, education, dmv car registration, reduce mortgage fees, free parking/tolls, free state/national parks, travel reimbursement and plus all veteran discounts it over million+ dollars over 20 years for just veteran without dependents. For you, your family would be around $1.6 million+/- dollars. Oh, I forgot about social security which you earned because of your military service. I could go on like investing, 401k, and your home vaule and others all because YOU join the military. I'm thankful for joining when I was 17.
Here is what is killing me. I'm talking to fellow vets, vets who have issues caused by their military service. Like a former Airborne guy who has messed up knees and ankles. All documented in his Army medical history. I'm trying to get him to file. He won't do it. Why not? Because when he got out, he went to see a VA doctor who told him he would not be able to get a disability pension. Then years later, he "mailed his medical records" to the VA and heard nothing back. I have been trying to explain to him that the VA doesn't do his work for him. They're not going to paw through his medical records, find all the compensable issues, and award him a disability. It's up to HIM to get a current diagnosis, get a Nexus letter, and THEN submit a claim with his medical records, current diagnosis, buddy letters, personal statement, and Nexus letter. Nah, he won't do it, because a VA doctor told him he wasn't going to get anything back when he first got out of the Army, decades ago. He's not the only friend I have to has more-or-less the same mindset. The military really does a job on our noggins, doesn't it? If a doctor tells us we can't get disability, then that's it as far as we're concerned. Drives me crazy!
@@wiggyjones I see this one

Seriously, just the healthcare is at lea million. Try paying for health insurance for a lifetime.
I say to all those that are against va care and compensation .. would you work at a job with a high chance of injury would you not want some kind of workers comp??
Workers comp sucks.
2500×12×40= I'm a millionaire with 200k left over. The marines should have never bent me over with the kevlar attached to the isomat aka what we call the big green weenie. It cost them!
😂❤
What MOS?

Stop being a victim and file your claims how they're supposed to be filed guys. Get your records and start compiling what you can file for. If you know you're underrated, go get reevaluated. There are things that are out of your control, but that's why you can do supplemental claims and HLR. Do the work and get the rating you deserve. Big 3 is what you need.
We really let ourselves get brainwashed, don't we? "They won't give me..." Right. Nobody is going to give you anything. You have to do the work yourself. Get a current diagnosis. Connect it to your in-service injury or as a secondary condition. Get a Nexus letter. Buddy statements, personal statement explaining how your life is affected NOW. Read and understand the requirements for the different levels of disability compensation for what you're filing for and make sure your evidence meets those standards. Go to your C&P. Tell the truth, but don't make things seem bright and cheery when they are not. But it's all on the VET to do the work. Even with a lawyer or a VSO or whatever; the VA is not going to connect the dots for you. You must do it yourself. The lawyer, VSO, etc, can help but you have to stop being a victim.
Another way to describe is to say 100% = 500k in stock dividends
I see what you did here 😊
During active duty, I received the DOD's Warfighter Refractive Eye Surgery program. I'm now retired with 100%PT that's not related to the eyes. Am I on the hook for any costs in the future since this was a volunteer elective cosmetic surgery while on active duty? I get my routine eye checkup free from the VA and still am 20/20 but say 5 years from now eyes start going bad? Could this qualify for disability comp? Does 100%PT cover previous and or future cosmetic surgeries?
How much would health insurance cost for a civlian to have everything health related covered to include dental 100% with no cost per month? Not having to pay for healthcare alone is worth half a million! 100%PT is better than the lottery! Even the lottery want's taxes paid and doesn't offer medical.
Hey Clay, is it better to do a Behavior C&P exam via video or in person?
Doesn’t matter. 6 one way half a dozen the other

I wish this was my situation. I've been at 50% for the last 5 years for PTSD. My mental health is bad enough I can't work and/or hold a steady job is impossible. Plus, on my Social Security statement it even says I've made LESS than $10,000 every year for the last 20 years. I think they put people like me at 50% so they don't have to pay TDIU. Living is so hard when dealing with my mental health issues then having financial difficulties exacerbating everything making it even worse. I'm 46, Who the hell can live on $1,074 a month?!
Why you only have mental health. You should build secondary
Filed lots of claims in one bulk filing. One came back bumping me up to 30%. Added my wife and kids (dependents) and the following month they were on the bank deposit.
Question: When other filings post that effect the rating, do they calculate back pay on the % at the time of filing (20%) or the current +30% (with family added)? IE: Is future back pay calculated with dependents factored in now or not?
DENY,DELAY, TILL WE DROP DEAD good luck
If you have solid medical evidence that won’t happen. When I say solid medical evidence, I mean from a medical doctor, not a statement from your buddy saying you hurt your knee.
Good info but only about 20% of veterans are 100% disabled. That equates to about 1.1M vets. The average rating for all vets is 10% which seems insanely low to me but that's what google says. To your larger point though -its worth spending the time to get evaluated or reevaluated. I went from 30% upon retirement and then 12 yrs later, it was bumped to 90%
That bump was 100% in-line with what you discussed. Have the documentation!!
Insurance premium + co-pays + deductibles & lifetime limits
Sorry I am very new to this and I am trying to to do all of this now. I have a bad TBI and have a hard time understanding instructions etc. I have my first appointment with my provider at the VA on Wednesday. I am on the right track with this stuff? Have been out for almost 3 years
Make sure you find yourself a good accredited VSO to assist you with the claims process. If you haven't already done so, submit a request for a copy of your military medical records.
Get yourself a VSO that will help you file your claims and study 38 cfr so you are able to articulate your symptoms to your Dr in their language
So what would you guys do when I got out in 2012 the marines had diagnosed me with Reactive airway disease but when I separated they claimed it as asthma for 10% I want to claim RAD from burn pits in afgan it's kind of a pickle what do you guys think?
Get a current diagnosis. Get your medical records through va.gov. Get a Nexus letter, buddy letters, a personal statement explaining the effect it has on your life NOW, and file for an increase. My 2 cents. I'm not an expert, just another vet.

Clay, late question but relevant to this. Should veterans that receive care out side the VA or even Community Care upload our own records to the VA site? I wish I had known over the last 20 years that the 40 times that Ive been to the corner clinic with bronchitis (had I saved records) wouldve greatly helped some of my claims. And, how to we do it? Cant find anyone on UA-cam giving a tutorial on self reported care. SF.
