Diabetes! Veterans: About 1 in 6 veterans have diabetes, which is 16.1% of veterans compared to 10.3% of the general population. That's a 60% increase vs. general population That's statistically significant.
Diabetes secondary to what?
@b.vo. Multiple things; chemical exposure, injuries causing lack of mobility, becoming overweight due to... list is long. Lots of research out there from post- doctoral researchers not nurse practitioners, P.A.s or ...
Thank you clay for the info
That's good information 👍 Thanks 👍.
Is it suggested using VA medical as "your Healthcare team"? I feel like I've been going to their doctors. They are treating me for my conditions. But I don't see anywhere that I get diagnosis for my issues that I can then use for a disability claim. They just treat me and say see you later.
I’m gonna say sleep apnea. Very common with weight gain, sinus issues, etc.
Very common and OSA comes down to 2 things:
1: Correlating factors
2: Competing evidence
- Clay
The first one (frequent urination) is also a symptom of lower back conditions .
Absolute solid input.
It can be, not always. Kind of like how the lower back 'can' cause sciatica. It's not a check in the box but...if your x-rays/MRIs show your lower back condition is pushing on your bladder...then there you have it.
- Clay
What really? What is considered (frequent?
I hear ya. Recently learned that. Explained why I had to take a leak all the time, esp. when a belt or some other thing irritated tailbone area. As I get older, at least I have a weapon to fight a swollen prostate if it happens! LoL
Hell, of course it is, I have that bad but they won't approve my lower back problems, I'm also diabetic and take jardiance! I would laugh if it wasn't so screwed up.
@@mkultravibes7763 did you get it approved? I have radiculopathy on both sides and degenerative disc disease ratings allLumbar issues.
Diuretic medication is also found in Jardience which is for treating Diabetes.
I use Jardiance. Did you get secondary for frequent urination?
8:15 so what if MEPs shows flat feet. How would you approach a possible claim…aggravation?
Three questions:
- If you came in the military with flat feet, can you still claim flat feet if you have experienced pain from flat feet through military service?
-What if your flat feet coming into the military were marked as "mild" pes planus, and are still considered mild (as far as arches go), what's to say you can get a rating for that?
-If you have flat feet can you still get a rating for knee pains, especially if you were a parachutists and you have in service connection from a jump that stemmed the knee pain?
Sorry, I know that's a lot, but I've heard mixed reviews and just trying to get an objective opinion.
I actually have this same exact question, but I never was high speed enough to be jumping out of planes 😂
Hey Clay, I was s/cd for asthma and denied allergic rhinitis thru pact act on the same claim. Can I try to s/c osa secondary to asthma? Thank you. Osa was deferred i guess because of allergic rhinitis denial.
Urinary Incontinence secondary to back issues
If your back condition is causing that, kind of similar to Radiculopathy for causation, then yes.
- Clay
I have it all and am going to a psychiatrist
If I had MRI's that show compressed/herniated disc's, is that a diagnosis? Or do I actually need my VA Dr. to specify that I'm diagnosed with radiculapaphy? My VSO has already submitted my claim.
So I’m on 8 meds and don’t have hypertension. I have gone to my vet clinic and had 2 uti test and it’s been ruled out. Is there a claim for meds causing urination frequently. I’m at 92 Va math. Can’t work and trying to get to 95
Esophageal esophagitis is directly related to allergic Rhinitis.
How I have it
How same question
Hey thanks for sharing! This is one I’ll have to look into
- Clay
@@TheCivDiv I just looked up is allergic rhinitis related to esophagitis and gerd and it is smh. They had 10 percent rhinitis but took it away. I scheduled an appointment with the vso and I am going to ask about allergic rhinitis smh the VA don't help at all I see. You got to do the research yourself and slap it in the VA face 😔
@@michaelbarnes6589 my allergist said they’re directly related so I have 10% for Rhinitis my VA dr diagnosed me with EOE and scheduled me for food allergy testing so I filed a secondary for EOE to allergic rhinitis.
I’ll be honest I have no clue. I’m really confused about everything with the VA. Do you have to have been diagnosed with hypertension in the army active duty because I’ve got hypertension last five years I was in the army 30 years ago.
Diabetes secondary to hypertension.
If beta blocker and water pill prescribed for SC CAD but still results in frequent urination, is this the same as the SC Hypertension.
If you already have a 30% rating for bilateral ples planus does it make sense to go for plantar fasciitis
If I remember correctly, pes planus and plantar faciitis are rated the same so the va will give you the highest rating assuming they're both service connected. Example you have 20% pes planus but 30% plantar, they will grant you 30%
@@Iambrandon369
You are correct.
What can you do about anxiety disorder with hearing loss With tinnitus
Following
Clay I use lisinopriL 40 mg tablet and metoprolol succinate 50 mg for hypertension and piss all night long. Should I file for frequent urination
You should talk to your doctor first and rewatch this and listen to how important medical evidence is
- Clay
Radiculopathy
I have hypertension service connected at 0% and I get up everynight more than 5 times to use the bathroom. Do I need a diagnosis for secondary connection? Or can I just summit a personal statement?
I am service connect for Tinnitus so I don't need a Nexus letter for sleep problems, problems with work, stress, anxiety, irritability?
This is a great question I would like an answer to also. thanks for asking it
Could i claim either diagnosed sleep apnea and ischemic stroke secondary to my settled claim for Parkinson's? I am 100% P&T TDIU, on 80% from Parkinson's after I was stationed at Camp Lejeune from 79 to 83.
I really don’t have much depression but anxiety and at times pain attacks. I get such terrible upper body pain thats chronic and I wonder if that could be from my PTSD
anxiety does trigger physical aligments. Mine causes my heart to go fast and it also triggers astma but it also depends the level of stress im having for me to get those symptoms. It can be used to describe how bad your anxiety gets.
Is chronic pain part of Lower back issues or secondary to it?
Could be both. Chronic pain isn’t the same for everyone it differs
- Clay
I submitted a claim for erectal disfunction secondary to PTSD due to all the medications I'm taking, and it was denied. I followed all your instructions on your videos and didn't work in regard to that secondary claim.
You need a diagnosis for your claim.
Could you quote from your decision letter, the reason as to why you were denied ?
I would love to see the decision letter. Email me Clay.simms@civdivonline.com and put ED denial as the subject line.
Every time someone says things like this they never email me the decision letter FYSA.
- Clay
What did c and p examiner say? It will come down to their opinion
Do you need nexus for plantars second to pes
Every claim needs a nexus. This is specific to nexus letters indicating the secondary connection is relatively easy
- Clay
Do you risk the VA reevaluating the primary condition if you file for a secondary, for example, file for headaches as a secondary to sinusitis?
I thought chronic pain would be a mental condition therefore if you have s mental rating it would be pyramiding
Nope. Largely rated as wherever the pain is stemming from. That’s the basic way to understand chronic pain.
Now sometimes chronic pain can stem from MH and in that case, sure.
- Clay
i have been denied for Hypertension and IBS secondary to anxiety. Been treated at VA for both for some time. C&P exam showed I have Hypertension, and they are in my problem list. They said in letter that Hypertension and IBS were diagnosed, but no evidence showing it's secondary to anxiety. (?!?!?)
@tommccomb4704 IBS is a functional gastrointestinal (GI) disorder. Functional GI disorders, which doctors now call disorders of gut-brain interactions, are related to problems with how your brain and your gut work together. These problems can cause your gut to be more sensitive and change how the muscles in your bowel contract. Do your research send it in, it'll trigger another C&P.
LOL there is nothing ‘easy’ 😂 they denied sleep apnea and used TERA asan excuse even though we went HLR we claimed secondary and they blatantly refused
Sleep Apnea
Yo … how can I schedule a visit with you via phone call ?
no nexus for anxiety or depression is that right?
Correct
Would that be secondary to tinnitus?
