GO RAVENS!!! i'm doing this right now in a 2004 tahoe and my pitman arm will not break loose.... but i'll get it eventually. also putting on a super beefy sway bar
That’s an extension tube on the idler arms grease fitting. Makes the grease fitting more accessible than a fitting all the way up top. You just pump it in the end of the tube.
I couldn’t say what the book time is . It took us a few hours but honestly wasn’t that bad . I would think it’s Atleast 500 in labor but probably higher .
Rust rust and more rust the less we have to remove the better as some things don’t come easily . I had actually suggested at one point we get a new steering box but the cost was way higher than we wanted to pay out . As for the torque wrench I use it when I feel it’s needed .
Everywhere. There’s a lot of grease from all the suspension as well that as caked up over time as well . Lots of leaks at 200k plus miles . Unfortunately not everyone’s focus is on leaks and it’s more on mission critical no drivable issues :/
Thank you helped a lot I opted to not do the pitman arm looked like a giant headache
Glad it helped. The Pitman arm was for sure the hardest part of the job. It took as long as all the other work we did.
Pickle Fork and 5 whacks with a mini sledge will seperate that Pitman arm from the steering linkage everytime.

WOW never seen that before. 👍
Does it matter the position of the splines on anything?
It’s keyed in a way on the pitman splines it should only line up one way in the correct orientation . It’s not possible to be a tooth or two off.
hello there, I have the same exact truck my year is 2004
What should this cost in a auto shop to repair just in labor?
I couldn’t say what the book time is . It took us a few hours but honestly wasn’t that bad . I would think it’s Atleast 500 in labor but probably higher .
Wouldn’t it have been easier to just remove the steering box? Also, why not use a torque wrench?

Where is all that fluid leaking from? Jesus christ
