One of my all time favourite songs. Goosebumps and tears every time I hear it. I don't know how Glenn Tilbrook sings it without crying. Beautiful lyrics, wonderful tune and amazing guitar solo. Definitely an unsung classic. Sublime.

We had this song played at my Mums funeral (16 years ago) at my Dads request. Music was always a fabulous, raging, debate growing up, but we could all - always - agree on Squeeze. Weirdly, I ended up living in Blackheath and doubt I will ever leave. This song brings me great, great comfort. Plus surely it’s illegal to live in SE London and not love Squeeze…!

Apart from the obvious fact that Sir Glenn and Lord Difford of Squeeze are fantastic tunesmiths, they are also top blokes... They always give you the time of day...

Difford and Tilbrook are national treasures. Up there amongst the best ever songwriters. Saw them live again in Manchester last Saturday - fantastic performance, and Glen's vocals are terrific. Sadly, did not perform this track but gave an enthusiastic audience so many brilliant numbers - still dancing!!! Long may they run.

It's four years since I uploaded this video and I am just glad the song means as much to so many people as it means to me. I am going to see Squeeze play again this weekend and so hope they play this as it was missing from their set last time round. Maxine Barker was obviously a very special person and Chris is right to be so proud of the song (and Glenn too) because Maxine will live on forever through it.

Always reminds me of my beautiful sadly departed Mam. Although it's been 4years, it's always harder at Christmas, not because I'm religious, just because it's no long till we all lost her. I'm actually crying while I write but this song is just so beautiful anyway.

I once had a wee next to Chris Difford, half-way through his set in a pub in Greenwich in 1989. Not that I hopped onto the stage to relieve myself....or that he took a piss on stage either. We were both in the bogs. It was a small pub. We didn't speak, but he seemed nice enough. So, other than seeing Bob Geldof on a bike in Chelsea once, that's my claim to fame. I've led a quiet life. Well, nice chatting; I'll be off now.

Reading the description - this was played at my father's funeral 10 years ago. It was always one of his (and my mother's) favourite Squeeze songs.
It was pretty funny actually, when people heard we were having a Squeeze song played that day, I think a lot of people assumed it would be "Cool for Cats" or something like that. The were taken aback when they heard this, and quite a few people were converted that day.
