Squeeze - Some Fantastic Place
Переглядів 191 тис.16 років тому
Music video for "Some Fantastic Place", Squeeze's 1993 classic song, written in tribute to a friend of theirs who had passed on. This was played at my husband's funeral.
Just heard this on radio 6 driving home and I knew who the band was from the start as I loved all of their music as a young teenager, I can't understand why A. I didn't know this track and B. Why it wasn't released as a single in the day! Could have should have been another big hit. Loving round the houses chris, thanks.
It was released as a single...I know because I bought it! It reached number 73 in the charts...sacrilege!
@@trendygirl2001 what year was it ?

Sounds like a Rutles tribute band.
The greatest bridge I’ve ever heard in pop music. Interesting key changes, great guitar solo and harmonies. A perfectly crafted pop song!

Makes me cry this one.
This song has always been a favourite of mine, Bob Mortimer chose it as one of his desert island discs, it would be one of mine too. Such a beautiful and poignant love song, it always brings a tear to my eyes as I heard it on Bob Mortimers Desert Island Discs heading home after seeing my nephew alive for the last time.
My idea of heaven - Squeeze beautiful lyrics , angelic like vocals , and fabulous musicianship . I applaud you for many great moments in my life listening to your great music Kudos , You amaze me . Many great memories I have off you ! Much thanks
Smiles, so so beautiful Teresa, feels really great listening, how are you doing? 🌺 😊
Knowing the back story of this song makes it more important. Glenn and Chris are two of the most talented and important musicians of our time
A friend who understands how badly I"m grieving sent this link to me. So grateful you posted this @trendygirl2001 I'd never heard it before, even being a Squeeze fan for decades.
Where was this filmed
Apparently it was Old Scotney Castle in Kent; there's a new and an old castle, though both look pretty old!
I don't get how either dumb or desensitized the record buying public are that they can hear a song this great and don't make it a hit that gets regular rotation.
A wonderful song with beautiful sentiments about a much loved & missed person. As they say "To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die ". And songs too! ❤🎶🎵🎶
The most underrated and the most overdriven song on YT.
Saw them last night but had to leave early for the train so missed this one which is my favourite squeeze song - gutted
The distortion on this is horrible!
Best squeeze song ever,,
An absolutely beautiful song. It touches me deeply every time I listen.
Wonderfull song and underrated band
May sound funny to some, but I think this is where Glenn sounds like he's playing a Brian May solo. Such an underrated guitarist, never mind anything else.
Apart from the obvious fact that Sir Glenn and Lord Difford of Squeeze are fantastic tunesmiths, they are also top blokes... They always give you the time of day...
Why this song wasn't a huge hit and isn't much more widely known I'll never know, great guitar too.
This needs a 1988Tower Records store to be properly sold& appreciated for the quality
Love this. Using every chord in the book.
It's a nice colourful video for a cold, dreich day in Scotland!. Bit of colour to liven things up!. Love this band and their lyrics...very smart and funny.
Still amazingly relevant. Chris and Glenn are 2 of the BEST around. Squeeze 4 Ever! 💜
One of my all time favourite songs. Goosebumps and tears every time I hear it. I don't know how Glenn Tilbrook sings it without crying. Beautiful lyrics, wonderful tune and amazing guitar solo. Definitely an unsung classic. Sublime.
Smiles, absolutely beautiful Deb, feels really great listening, how are you doing? 🌺 😊
This song makes me cry everytime. The melody and lyrics are just perfect.
We had this song played at my Mums funeral (16 years ago) at my Dads request. Music was always a fabulous, raging, debate growing up, but we could all - always - agree on Squeeze. Weirdly, I ended up living in Blackheath and doubt I will ever leave. This song brings me great, great comfort. Plus surely it’s illegal to live in SE London and not love Squeeze…!
My all time favourite Squeeze tune! 😉❤️
Just simply a great song
Con esta canción despedí a mi perro Manchas. Espero que esté en ese lugar fantástico.
This song holds so many emotions. I lost my only one i will ever love. Love Lisa xxx
Awww, so sorry about your loss Lisa. I truly understand how it feels losing a loved one, my wife passed while having our daughter, wasn't easy for me though but I'm grateful to God for today 🙏. My deep and sincere condolences, how have you been? 🌺 😢
The solo doesnt sounds like Hendrix. Its more recently sound and its good but definetively It dont sounds like him as said wikipedia.
I've often wondered who the little girl was at the end of the vid must be one of Chris's daughters or something or Pete Thomas's daughter
One of the most underrated UK bands
In 1976 rolling Stone magazine difford and tilbrook as the next Lennon and McCartney and to me they were even more so. Was such a pleasure growing up and still with this music being a part of my life.. and by the way they did not appreciate rolling Stone magazine making that comment
Couldn't agree more. As a guitarist of over 49 years the solo is amazing...short simple but one of the best ever
My 14th Great-grandfather, John Darell, was given this particular “fantastic place”-Scotney Castle in Kent-as a wedding present in 1418 by Henry Chichele, Archbishop of Canterbury, when John married the archbishop’s niece Florence. It stayed in the family until 1788-370 years. It’s fun to see it here.
Glen at his absolute best, as normal!
If we could go back
It was Maxine who urged her boyfriend Glenn to answer an ad. That Chris had stolen 50p from his Mum’s purse to put in a newsagents window Then Squeeze was formed…
One of the greatest songs, ever.
Este tema me hace recordarte querido KOKI. TQM cuñadito. RIP.
Chose this song for mums funeral..words describe her to a tee...she would have been pleased we chose this for her..
My mum died in 1992 - when I heard this song when it was released, my heart nearly exploded with sadness and joy. So happy to see you share this with your mum too, Helen x
Glen is a sensational singer, an absolutely fantastic guitar player, and a top drawer songwriter. And some fantastic place is my favourite squeeze song. And they have a great catalogue . Not forgetting chris's wonderful lyrics.
incredible guitar solo
FOR MUM.......THIS SONG REACHES INTO MY SOUL......MISS YOU.....R.I.P.
always loved this one ... ♥♥♥
Some fantastic song!
Has to be one of the most beautiful music videos ever made.
The audio seems WAY too hot on this video. The sound is super distorted.
