I love this song, just bought the album it's from, knew Squeeze from years ago but I'm discovering how absolutely amazing they are looking at their back catalogue. X
This song wasn't written until 1993; that's some feat to be playing 6 years prior to its being released; they really are an under-rated bunch of musos.
Glenn Tilbrook guitar and vocals; Chris Difford guitar; Keith Wilkinson bass; Paul Carrack keys; Pete Thomas drums. The 'Some Fantastic Place' line-up was an awesome combo.\
Love it .. always loved these guys .. but it's not Pete Thomas on the drums. I don't know who it is. Pete plays matched grip ... this drummer is playing parade style. I don't think that Pete switched styles back and forth.
@@2008alde very astute pick up. It’s not Lavis either. I made the Thomas assumption on the basis that it’s his drumming on the album from which this song comes. You definitely recognise his snappy style on the album.
@@grantharrismusic No problem .. Love Pete Thomas .. great drummer .. always enjoyed him immensely when he was in Elvis Costello's band, The Attraction. I think Pete exited shortly after this LP was released and Squeeze may have had tour and promotional commitments and pick up this drummer to meet them. Squeeze is still a great band to this day. Saw them here in NY in 2016 and also many years ago with the original members. Lavis is a monster of a player too!
@@2008alde yes. I was going to reply and suggest that maybe PT just did the album but then I was reminded of the Live at Albert Hall recording and a quick look at some of the footage shows a match-handed PT on drums. They only toured Oz once with the original line-up back in the 80s and I was too young and lived too far away to be able to even know about it. I got to see them in 2019 here in Perth with just GT from the original line-up.
@@grantharrismusic Hmmm Chris Difford wasn't with the band when you saw them in 2019? There are videos of Chris in Squeeze touring the US in 2019 but I recall that Chris was suffering from some ailment that was affecting him but I don't recall the exact ailment. Chris was doiing a one man show travelling around the US in early 2019. He scheduled a show at the Colony here in Woodstock, NY and we purchased tix to see him, but unfortunately he had to cancel because of this ailment.
Yes it's a GREAT track !!! And Paul Carrack is on keyboards ;-) It Glenn Tilbrook who is the lead singer and Chris Difford sings too but usually accompanies an octave or 10th lower ! I do love this song am gonna post it on FB now ! X

This is great. Thanks for posting!
One of the greatest bands ever!!
2021... Anyone still listening?
Some Fantastic Place - the album on which this song appeared was released in September 1993
My very first CD Single purchase as a teenager in the late 80s
93
Oddly enough, it was my first CD purchase in the mid 2000s. My mum said it was good...she was right!
Increíble, me eriza la piel esta canción.
Awesome. So under-appreciated by the "average" listener.
What a great song. The bass line sounds perfect
Glen's vocals here are outstanding absolutly faultless most singers could never achieve that in one take
Frankly, Glenn could sing anything and it would sound good ♥

There are some great songs on this album
My daily dose of Squeeze!

Pure pop perfection.
love it!!
Fantastic! ;)
It's 1994. It was a considerable time after the album was released.
What a talented group. I came across this as I am a huge Paul Carracl fan (on keyboards). Love the lead vocalist's voice (is that Chris Difford?).
It's Glenn Tilbrook.
1987? Not a bad effort given the song was from the "Some Fantastic Place" album released in 1993.
yeah deffo 94ish although glenns trousers do look circa 87 haha
👌👍🏻
And where is Jools??
Poor old Kevin on drums too!!
Killer...
So ,wait a minute
