  • I've frequently had failed starts and E5 and E6 errors from my Weber Smokefire. The initial feed rate is too high during startup and overwhelms the ignitor. If I scoop out the overflowing flame pot and slow down the feed rate by intercepting the addition of majority of the pellets until there's a good flame started, it starts every time. It's not mechanical or electrical issue, it's a controls issue with a too aggressive feed rate at startup.

Glad you posted this, I had minimal issues with it. Performed software update after my last overnight brisket cook, and it has spiraled into grill not working no matter what I do. This sucks, hope you got yours fixed? Waiting on tech support

Been having nothing but issues on my EPX6 smokefire as well. Keeps getting flame outs and struggling to get to temp. It takes over an hour and a half to get to 600 degrees F. I've been dealing with support and keep replacing things, but nothing is working. Replaced the auger, replaced the glow plug, replaced the fan, replaced the felt pads, removed finger guard, deep cleaned and vacuumed the entire grill, used only fresh Weber pellets, none of it works. I agree with you, I think there is a programming issue. If only they allow you to control the feed rate and set the igniter to light manually instead of only at the start. What did you end up doing with your grill and are you still having problems? I am ready to throw this $1500 junk in the trash.
