  • I needed to replace the glow plug on my Weber Smokefire EX6 and could not find a video of anyone doing it to reference so I thought I would do one. I also took the opportunity to give you my thoughts on this cooker in general.

Great video, all you show is the smoker and not what you were doing. Kudos!!

@@BuQeyeBBQ I didnt say anything that wasnt true bud. You showed the back of the smoker instead of your hands which is the replacing of the plug itself. I said it because i needed to see that part yesterday and you were of no help. Had to look at another video.

@@yaxelcastaneda5993you said great video, kudos, etc. so if I read your sarcasm correctly, what you said, by definition, wasn’t true.

Working on my Webber smoke fire is a part-time job.

I remember feeling the same way. It cooked some good food and it was a lot better after Weber had it serviced but still not great.

I pulled mine out while cleaning it from the burn pot and slid a new one in. Took 5 seconds. No tools needed

Love my EX4. Only regret is not getting the EX6. Seemed like it was too big at the time. No real problems. Fought with the initial updates and losing the app while hot. There’s also a probe port I think is acting up.
I have mine up against the house and find that adding pellets isn’t a big deal. Even from the front.
Mine holds temps very well. Just wish it had an auto on and off feature. Might make brisket easier.
Thanks for the video on the igniter replacement. I just wanted to do some homework in advance.

Yeah, I give weber credit, they took the issues seriously and it ran a lot better after it was serviced. I think my top three negatives were the grease drain, the pellet cavitation, and the pellet hopper placement/shape in that order. When it ran right, which was most of the time after service, it put out good food. I ended up selling mine mostly because I wanted something different. Was running fine when I sold it. Thanks for tuning in and good luck with your EX4!

Thanks for the help. Wish I’d seen this before picking up a used gen2 ex4. Should have held out for a different one I guess, or the bigger WSM. Hope next test cook goes better.

When I got mione overhauled it was running pretty well. Put out great food too. I sold mine but that was more because I always want something new, lol.

First world problems, the hopper fill is so easy , the only real problem I see is the grease draining other than that, it’s a good smoker and or combo grille but it master none. Clean and enjoy

How many startups or number of cooks would your guess before the igniter replacement warning?

Gosh, I could not even venture a guess. I think it was close to 18 months in and I had used it quite a bit. Seems like it should have lasted longer. To be fair it was still working fine, I just replaced because it told me to. It was a cheap part and easy to do.

I hate my smokefire I am saving for RekTek

My Smokefire has gotten better but yeah, I am still not impressed. I have the RecTeq Bullseye and it is pretty solid. I don’t think you can go wrong there. Bottom line is that there are so many better pellet cookers than Weber’s version, in my opinion.

I got mine for 250.00 first gen. Lowes was getting rid of them. I would never spend 1000.00 on this one because of the few problems, I’ve encountered… really the only problem was the drop temp but it does come back…I’ve had mine about 11 months… probably would get a rec tec for the next one….

The glow plug replacement issue is a very bad design. When you need to eat, especially in the dark the plug replacement is hard to do

    • @BuQeyeBBQ
      @BuQeyeBBQ  2 роки тому

Yeah, the nice thing is that it gave me a warning to replace while it was still working. So it wasn't like it just went out randomly/unexpectedly though I guess it could. Of all of the design issues with the Smokefire the igniter is not as big of a deal as some to me.

@@BuQeyeBBQ I did learn myself that I could unplug the glow stick and plug a new one in without having to unscrew the back. I don’t see anywhere that you can do that. 🤷🏼🤷🏼🤷🏼
